Ethereum has a clear, identified leader: Vitalik Buterin.
The guy's now well-known, and respected because of his great knowledge of anything related to crypto-currencies. BTC had Gavin Andreesen as its frontman for a long time, and now that he's gone, BTC has stalled. Well, it's actually more complicated than this, but everybody can see that BTC has a governance problem. The block size and scalability issue has been hanging above our heads for 3 quarters. Ethereum, nor any altcoin, suffers from the same lack of vision, because there's a manager at the top who is able to fix things, and solve problems when they arise.
Decentralization is certainly an exciting concept, but it doesn't make things easy when there's a problem.
A known dev is a dble edged sword. What happens if VB gets caught doing something 'naughty'? Ethereum would tank. Is this likely? You bet it is. VB is only human, and you can bet your ass people are scrutinizing him closely. He's a liability as the front man, all front men are. Just imagine if he got caught with a bag of pot, or lurking in a gay beat? Ethereum price would fall faster than a banker can say sharapova. decentralization is hard to achieve, but it's still the best way for crypto. Torrent network is impossible to stop coz there's no leader

Warned Zcash their plans for an 11% royalty on coin emission may run afoul of FinCEN guidance, and also suggesting they read this thread about the Howey test. Surely team Zooko have considered this and have a plan to meet any fincen requirements. If not, the zcash is a dead man walking and someone will fork and release a clone without the 11% elephant baggage. Some smart tech people can be quite stupid ...

Just imagine if China discovered qora ... might happen one day
Would be great to have some interest behind the great firewall

I wonder how long before VPN users realise the importance of BTCD in the grand scheme of things ...
Good point ... I'm betting BTCD will start mooning soon , otherwise VPN might need to retrace. The relativity between VPN, BTCD & SuperNET looks out of whack now

There are no undervalued coins . There are supply and demand and each coins are worth exactly what people willing to pay for it. 99% of the existing coins are equally worthless because of the lack of real life use cases and as a consequence, because of the lack of demand. price is determined by supply and demand, not value. value is determined by many factors, many of which have nothing to do with markets our world is fucked up in so many ways due to this error in thinking

Can someone explain what crypto middleware (iguana) does in layman's terms?
enables one click install chrome app to do fully decentralized crypto, without needing to install or run anything else James Thanks James! So Iguana will enable wallet access to multiple crypto coins without any blockchain downloads, or just without multiple wallet installs, or both (no wallets, no blockchains)?

Nxt has a large number of people volunteering for tasks for little reward. I have been reviewing the history of nxt from Sept 2013 and what i see is a grassroots community motivated by something other than mere $$. I don't see that in many other coins. original stakeholders like klee gave away lots of coins to kick things off, and so many people were enthusiastic, the mega thread is a testament to that.
Things needed to change from that time to streamline things, but i still see the original spirit and idealism today. That's why so many haters still, bitter people hate idealistic grassroots movements, it makes them feel crap, so they spend hours spreading fud rather than doing positive things like making contributions. Critics, not doers! We all know who they are.

https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/why-nxt-underappreciated-bas-wisselinkWords can be used to talk, but also to sing, shout, coerce. They can be used to state facts, lie, hurt and joke. If we had just stuck to what it says on the tin, we'd not have come very far as a species.
The same goes for NXT: it has many applications, as a business tool for keeping records or verifying trade documents, but also as a hundred other uses based on the exchange of things between people! Gazing blindly at just a few use cases that will grow stale with time will not help. Good article bas! Language can limit creativity, especially with 'tools' like technology. If the name implies a use then it can limit what people consider using it for. A screw driver can do a lot more than drive screws! Eventually NXT will bloom, it's just too damn impressive not too.

Is IOTA connected with nxthaus in any way? I believe David was involved with that project but can't find any current info on nxthaus. Will iota be traded on that exchange?

Every coin claims the community is active on slack but it's always been a complete lie for the ones I've checked out so far. Slack channels are less active than bitcointalk threads.
yes, true. then again this is an abandoned coin. The dev team are active on supernet slack daily, here not so much as they're waiting for SN devs to finish before integration, afaik, so nothing new to report

I think the concept above this coin is extremly powerfull but perhaps the dev should debug a little the code, the miniblockchain probably will be the future
dev fatigue probably ... 2014-15 has been long and difficult great idea with xcn, just difficult times for solo alt coin devs Sorry guys Fallout 4 has consumed my life, you know how it is. Lol seriously though there are a few reasons I haven't done much with Cryptonite recently. One is because I've been working on BitShop and other things which actually make me a profit unlike Cryptonite which has only cost me money so far. However the main reason is probably because I had trouble getting the fully encrypted web wallet to work because Cryptonite structures and signs transactions differently from any other altcoin, so I basically had to recreate all of that code in javascript and it was more than I wanted to deal with. Now for some good news:I recently came back to the client side encrypted web wallet to give it one last try and I have finally gotten past the hardest hurdle: serializing and signing Cryptonite transactions. It took a lot of debugging but I finally figured it out and now I have a much clearer understanding of how Cryptonite transactions are handled. Now that I have the core infrastructure in place the rest should be a breeze, nothing I haven't really done before. It should take a week or two to get it released, although we are close to Christmas so it may take slightly longer. Great! The mini blockchain is a real innovation, I think your persistence will be rewarded one day. There aren't that many alts that can survive but XCN could be one of them

The charts aren't that bad for this one, but it seems dead... Is it dead, any insight?
Not dead, but needs some love Are you sure? Its site's full of dead links, Twitter's dead as well, not many posts around here either. I have a feeling the only reason it's alive is that it's mined over at minergate, I run that, maybe not that good an idea for an 1 eu every couple of months, but I just feel like it for until I get bored of it. They also mine QuazarCoin which also looks pretty dead. Fantom & Quazar both have potential to return nicely. If monero takes off then aeon becomes silver, and new dev talent would likely appreciate fantom and quazar as take-over opportunities with established brands. Stranger things have happened.

interesting how the project is still on trex, tbh.
I thought they had a strict de-listing policy, so something is going on that's out of the ordinary?
Good point! i have a good feeling for VTR despite the delay and minimal communication, the dev is running a marathon
