341  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: February 26, 2024, 10:40:34 PM
yeah that's true. Base on my research about the previous halvings though haven't experienced anyone yet. But have done some research I found out that most time during Bitcoin halving bitcoin do undergo a certain dip(fir short-term), and after the halving alway experience a great surge in price. And most people may actually be thinking of purchasing bitcoin at that moment it experience the dip during the halving. And most of them may eventually endup missing out. And some may endup not accumulating more quantities of Bitcoin for the upcoming bullish run.

They don't actually know that those that have already embark the use of DCA strategies, and at the same the buying the dip would have more chances of a accumulating more bitcoin in their portfolio, Mostly with efficient and frequent DCAing.
But it seems different this time. Before we even touch halving, we've been seeing the pump that much and that's actually a good sign that this bull run might be better than the last one.

Last year when Bitcoin was under $30k, that was the great time for everyone to accumulate but it's still possible since we haven't peaked yet.
Buying under $30k was actually a great time but doesn't make those that bought from 30k above any different, it's not about when you bought but how persistent you are with your hodling till date. Anyone can buy above 30k or even at this current price which I still consider to be a dip, and set for yourself a healthy DCA plan and still make significant profit at the next ATH. If we get an ATH before the half this time around then let be expecting something spectacular in this bull run we're about to experience.
342  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Bull has Started But Not Yet ATH. on: February 26, 2024, 10:20:55 PM
The market has been bullish right before we got into the year 2024 and for me I wonder what other bullish signs some other persons are watching out for before they come to a conclusion of this fact. The tendency for an ATH to be met before the halving is getting more assuring with each passing days and weeks to the expected month of the halving. There's still a profiting ground for investors to tap in so far as the previous ATH hasn't been met because what am looking at as next ATH is above $100k.

344  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: One of Nigerian economic problem is that our youth population is very high on: February 25, 2024, 10:59:15 AM
For a population with high growing number of youths than old people it's supposed to be of an advantage to the economy as their should be people of working age that are capable and ready to drive a workable economy through white collar and skillful craft jobs but reverse is just the case with that of our dear country as thebild people have taken the centre stage since the 70s and till now don't want to relegate power to the youth to occupy political positions in the country. More worsen is on the part of majority of the youth who have sworn to make themselves stooges and puppets and instruments of terror by the old politicians to cause mayhem to any group of fellow youths that tries to stand-up to speak for their political rights against what's wrong in our society. Imagine the cost of running politics in our country, can a youth afford it? Just a local government or councilor form?
345  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What causes altcoin season? on: February 25, 2024, 10:08:36 AM
It is a general believe in the cryptocurrency community that Bitcoin bull season is usually followed by altcoins season. I don't know the logic behind it hence the reason for this post. The present bull run seems to be dominated by Bitcoin and its already taking too long without corresponding rise in price among the notable altcoins.

So, should we also expect altcoin season following the current bull run? If yes, what are the best altcoins to focus on?
It's a difficult logic it's all about the market sentiments from the angle of investors, as the bull run is expected and a lot of invested looking forward to see bitcoin break bonds with new ATH pricing it is believed that as a leading crypto bitcoin has an influence on the performance of every other altcoins to also do fine, but this also has to do with the potentiality of the altcoin as there are a lot of altcoins that are going to have a  deficiency of growth in value even when the bull run is in full force, that's where the difficulty of getting a good coin comes in.
346  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your view and your opinion about Ethereum? on: February 25, 2024, 09:33:00 AM
When it has to do with the best cryptocurrency bitcoin is the best then followed by ethereum in the list of altcoins however ethereum still at it's infant stage than bitcoin in terms of price which makes ethereum highly profitable due to its high volatility but the disadvantage about altcoins is that same high volatility that can bring you massive profit in a single bull run can likewise bring your investment to nothing. But nevertheless, among all altcoins ethereum stands out and it seems to be the next best cryptocurrency to base on after bitcoin.
347  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto is not the future, it is the present on: February 25, 2024, 09:19:23 AM
We are now in the middle of the crypto Era. Before 2017 it was beginning of crypto Era and the crypto revolution attract the attention of investors, traders and many other from all over the world.
(....)
Then it means we are still early in the cryptocurrency market.
Having enough knowledge and well-informed in cryptocurrency right now will help the community to grow by sharing our knowledge to others and create the future using our present knowledges.
The future of cryptocurrency is in the hands of the present adoptors whatever we do with it today will have a lot of influence about it tomorrow. Which is why we as present day adoptors need to critically be equiped with the knowledge about cryptocurrency so we can make informed decisions regarding these digital assets so that people in the society can feel and observe the impact of the digital currency to our financial life which will therefore attract new more flux of adoptors in the future.

The internet today was already there before the 2000s but not many had interest or use for it, with a few users but as new service to it emerges it usecase also increased and today the internet is something we can't do without, same I hope will be for cryptocurrency as more services like nft's, bitcoin spot etf, gaming projects and now ethereum spot etf is pushing for approval, all of these are a pathway tonzhe future of cryptocurrency.
348  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Emergency funds is vital. on: February 24, 2024, 07:36:13 PM
What am trying to say is that if one don't have a good emergency funds (mostly this time around things aren't getting better nor cheaper) it would difficult for one to exercise a good long-term investment. Because being short of emergency funds may lead to one withdrawing their investment in a premature state when haven't yield any good profits yet) Inorder to cover some unexpected expenses.
I have been hearing from people that has more experience than me in my locality, and they always say "save money today so money will save you tomorrow" If you understand watin emergency funds be you go know aay emergency funds nah wetin person no go use joke in one sec, money wey go save you from trouble nai be watin them dey call emergency funds.
Although say person no go fit save funds for emergencies wey em never chop belle full, that one show say before you go save money for emergency you go also chop belle full and you go also get better paying job, when you done set with all this things then you put Bitcoin investment next to your plans.
The fact be say this country it's hard to hold a strong saving habit if you no the earn around #400k upwards for this country as a family man. Just imagine the cost of a bag of rice only don almost collect #100k from the #400k so then imagine other expenses way go follow as family man and addition to the depreciation of the Naira regularly. Savings is necessary but the conditions of the country's economy no the encourage the ability of people to create a healthy saving habit and also make successful investment join if you nonthe earn better amount of money as income monthly.
349  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: February 24, 2024, 06:57:54 PM
Sweetly, two Nigerians were responsible for the downfall of the red devils today. Bassey and Iwobi, bassey who I am sure can play well for both country as he does for his club, but Iwobi? the goal he scored today was very brilliant, I did not see him show such brilliance in the AFCON for Nigeria.
I share in your thought mate as one that followed up the AFCON competition in every steps of the way Iwobi wasn't that impressive with his performance for his home country but that doesn't mean he didn't gave his best. Maybe he was not just in his best form at the times or something else probably. The AFCON is over let's move forward to current events, Manchester loss was just unbelievable as I had thought they will take advantage of them being the home team to beat Fulham in order to stay in same points with Tottenham at least for the main time.  Onana keeps breaking heart at games when the points are crucial to the team and that's bad for a goalkeeper of his pedigree.
350  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I spoken very smart person he told me secrets of life on: February 24, 2024, 06:03:39 PM
I understand this to be a belief system and highly subjective as a stories heard or taught in other religions. The Christains and Muslims based on their beliefs about spirituality they will view this  story as fallacy as it does not connect or go in line with their beliefs about the after life. Life is so deep that we can't really comprehend by mere physical sight. One thing I don't bother my self about many of these spiritual stories is that it could get you more confusing as hell that won't know where to really pin yourself into. So let just respectively  stick with that which we all already know.
351  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: February 24, 2024, 04:46:02 PM
I am very happy to see that Bitcoin market is starting to grow day by day because I have invested in Bitcoin in 2023. I have full confidence in it because of which I have never been disappointed after investing. I know Bitcoin is a valuable asset. I am very proud to invest in Bitcoin.  I think I have bitcoins. So I haven't decided to sell these invested bitcoins yet. I thought I'll keep the invested bitcoins and think about selling them after a few years.
We are all exciting at the rising price of bitcoin and with the halving to come it promise to be more profitable even without being told. Nevertheless, I am proud of your decision to hold for years (that's  long term plan) , I don't know if you just bought a lump sum at once since 2023 or you're actually do DCAing which is one best holding strategy for long term course. But more importantly, what I really want to point out is that in holding for long in order to be successful with your holding plans you should endeavor to maintain a good source of income to cover for your basic needs and emergencies that might wanna force you to tamper with your holding prematurely. If possible aspire to have multiple streams of income, on that way you will find bitcoin holding as ease and seamless as anything you could compare to been so easy in life to accomplish.  It's just my few cents of advise.
352  Other / Off-topic / Re: Know when to stop on: February 24, 2024, 04:24:33 PM
Continue gambling until your money is finish in the gambling center before you can stop gambling, show that addicted to gambling is not far from such gamblers because the best way to gamble is to gamble and still remain some money to gamble another day.

If you want to make huge amount of money from gambling, don't spend more than 1 hours in the gambling center either winning or loosing because, the more time you spend in the gambling center, it can lead you to borrow money to gamble and it will make you regret.
What I think about this is that it is not always about addiction that makes a gambler gambling with all the money he has left with nothing before they can stop and go home. Some persons just have that feeling of using the last cash at hand to try their luck and it's funny at times (not most of the times) that the last cash trial could just be a saving grace for the gambler making a winning that puts him in recovery feat.

Spending so much time in the gamble house is not my thing though and I don't understand how those other people that spend the whole of their day in gamble house staking one game to another feel about their habit, or maybe they are without a job and just want to keep self busy spending the whole time there. I don't know.
353  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The future of cryptocurrency. on: February 24, 2024, 02:46:27 PM
Just looking at the wave of cryptocurrency and going with the rate of adoption, where do you all see the future of cryptocurrency in the next 20years or more from now. Are transactions going to be more of in cryptocurrency than fiat in all ramifications of society as it concerns finance?
Basically, it would be predicted that cryptocurrencies will take good percentage of day to day transactions in the society but from my perspective and in the interval which you specifically mention I can't really tell what will be the out come.

From the efforts the governments are puting to regulate the crypto space I wouldn't be confident enough to predict what will be the nearest out come in 20yrs. although it maybe that the future generations will be mostly be part of cryptocurrencies but in this current generation the government are trying to put Bitcoin and the rest of the coins that are mostly decentralized in to extension that people will not longer be able to do transactions freely around the world but I'm also very optimistic about Bitcoin and I believe it's going to prove the centralized authorities wrong.
The huge challenge with cryptocurrency is the government, they just want to control everything even to our bedrooms which is very crazy. They overlook the advantages that cryptocurrency posseses only concentrating on the regulatory and centralized power they are denied of by the digital currency otherwise 20years from now ought to be feasible for crypto investors to be with certainty that cryptocurrency would have by then penetrated and sink into all financial levels doing business in the society.
354  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Conspiracy theory...Binance in the spotlight...Should we be worried? on: February 23, 2024, 10:09:20 PM
From the link in the op as read, binance claims that it's action is to protect it' users, now the real question that underlies is that, who are these users the binance exchange is claiming to protect? Because from all I see is that binance is only playing to the coercive tone of the Naija government and to indirectly save itself from the troubles of the government leaving it users to bear the conditional effect of this so-called market capping. Another indication of the true color of what a centralized system can be.
355  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What is the benefit of taking hard drugs on: February 23, 2024, 09:50:20 PM
Hard drug could be so destructive to the life of person involved in it's intake, mostly when it's not administered by a health technician per say a qualified doctor having the condition that warrant the injection or intake of hard drug under scientific control. These hard drugs such as cocaine, marijuana etc has bad effect on the health and social behavior of the consumer it's usually a gradual process then it finally destroys you. I think a lot of potentials has been cut short due to hard drug and while many lives are lost and destroyed to it others are making bastard money from it as dealers.
356  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to find and hold in Atlcoin effectively? on: February 23, 2024, 06:25:10 PM
This is my process for finding an Altcoin (new project) for long-term investment

Having said that, because of the lack of utility in altcoins, i buy only Bitcoin, but if i must advise people on altcoins, i'd tell them to purchase altcoins that have been in the market for sometime and already have a "strong" community.

The steps that is listed in the OP are helpful tips to choosing altcoins to buy, however as you've also noted, an investor can use the strategies and end up buying scam projects or new projects that are legit from the beginning later they're value will end up becoming worthless. The fact is that new projects are risky, even after researching them, they might end up not being profitable in the long run. Like you if I plan to buy altcoins, it'll have to be the ones that have proven their reputations in the crypto market, like Bitcoin, because I like to minimize my risks.
@kelward you have just hit the nail direct about moat altcoins we have in the market, you will after all research and analysis has been done find reasons to believe that the coin was going to be a profitable coin due to the potential it showed but only to find out on the long run after invested that it didn't do as expected. There was no significant rise whatsoever, some even fall in value from the price you had initially bought and just remians there. If any investor must have to diversify his crypto investment from bitcoin to another altcoin outside ethereum which has proven scalability and more over the years I don't see myself picking at any altcoins for a long term right now, maybe not just now.
357  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The future of cryptocurrency. on: February 23, 2024, 05:48:44 PM
can you imagine if your grandma could easily buy her groceries with bitcoin? That would be wild.

That is the last stage of cryptocurrency in which everyone is waiting for. Once cryptocurrency is accepted by the market women then the financial revolution will be resolved at once. But it will be hard for our grandmas to use cryptocurrency unless they will have someone behind to assist them. So fiat will still be use side by side with cryptocurrency because not the Grandmas and Grandpas.
I don't worry about the very elderly not been able to make use of cryptocurrency as it's very possible they can learn as there's no much of a  difficulty in the process, they can through the idea of fiat transactions they have been used to find it easy to make use of crypto. Where the worry should be coming from is in the aspect of transaction fees assuming where I want to spend a dollar to buy a grocery what could the transaction fee for it be using crypto.

Op buying and selling of accounts in this forum  is prohibited and you should know better that if caught, the account you spent money in buying would be ban or tagged. So I recommend you luck this thread. ]
It is actually not prohibited (prohibited meaning:banned, forbidden)  but members are however discouraged from buying and selling of accounts. Check number 18 of the Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ

360  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Are children born out of wedlock is still a blessing from God? on: February 22, 2024, 08:49:26 PM
The Bible which is the  Holy book of the Christain faith says in one of it's chapter's that Children are an heritage from God. Mind you it didn't categorize it that children born in wedlock are an heritage from God but it  was rather a general statement to both those born in and out of wedlock.  I have known many individuals that were born out of wedlock that are today the backbone of their immediately family financially they are now the builders of the family that through them those born in wedlock are now growing financially too. So all children irrespective of under what category they were conceived and birthed are all a blessing from the Almighty.
