341  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Premier League 2023/2024 Discussion Thread ⚽ on: February 19, 2024, 08:26:51 PM
Everton had some strong performances in the last few games, despite not having favorable results. It seems Sean Dyche has instilled his coaching methods to improve the team and the players. Gaining one point in each game against Aston Villa, Fulham and Tottenham is evident to their improvement. Their demonstrated determination and tactics that can certainly give them an edge in the upcoming match.

Crystal Palace, although considered the weaker team in this matchup, may capitalize on opportunities or utilize strategic gameplay to challenge Everton and potentially secure a surprise victory. But predicting a favorable outcome for Everton seems reasonable given their form and recent performances. While Everton may be favored to win based on their current form, bettors need to approach the game with an open mind and considerations for the dynamics of competitive sports.
By head to head analysis of the recent meetings, Crystal Palace have not won Everton for once, the best result they got was a goalless draw. Everton have maintained a good winning record against them. By recent performance, Everton is also doing far better than Crystal Palace who seems to be far better at home than away. Indeed Crystal Palace have not won any match away since we entered this new year. Going by that record, Everton will have an edge over Palace tonight. The bookies seems to be in agreement with this hence they gave Everton 1.8 odds and Crystal Palace 5 odds. However, I consider direct win a high risk since both of them are fighting to come out from the relegation zone. Therefore, Everton win or draw should be a more conservative bet for this match.
342  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How safe is it letting the bank know that you are a BTC Investor? on: February 18, 2024, 03:40:26 PM
Bitcoin investor is not an occupation and the customer care representative needs to input the right information into the system, so that's what prompted the question. There are many things you could have written on the form like student, businessman, civil servant etc, but why BTC investor? Which to me looks like a show off.
It is just obvious that the bank officer is a little not experienced in that interrogation else she would have asked you the source of the funds you invested in Bitcoin. You cannot answer an investor without a source of funds because you need money to perform an investment.

Calling himself a Bitcoin investor was funny and a unprofessional and he really ignored several risks in that response. In some countries, such answers will draw so much attention to his account and activities. There was a time such response will lead to outright  closure of the account in my country. Then you just to mention Bitcoin or cryptocurrecy in the comments of ant financial transaction and your account is doomed.

343  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do people truly risk their money on bets just for fun ? on: February 17, 2024, 10:22:47 AM
The title is definitely not the right one. I think the better one is this.

"Do people truly risk their money on bets for profit?"

It's always going to be about making money and those "bets" just for fun are those who are just trying out gambling. I think that's the reason for people trying it but avid gamblers probably want to profit and not gamble just for fun. There's definitely intention IMO.
Risking money in the hope of profits is a normal thing that do not even call for discussion because that is what we do everyday. Every investment is with the hope that it will government some profits and as you know, there is no investment without some form of risk. So taking risk for profit is right and  people who "do not gamble" also do it.

What I find difficult understanding is if people do risk their money on bets just for fun. This has never and will never make sense to me.
344  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do people truly risk their money on bets for profit? on: February 17, 2024, 07:51:25 AM
This is the lie some people tell themselves in order to feel relieved when they lose money in gambling; it is a form of reversed psychology mechanism that leverage on self denial.

Gambling is never fun unless to those who are addicted to gambling because it is only addiction that can make one derive fun from losing money. Gambling is business with the sole purpose being to make money.
345  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Preventive measures not to lose your btc on: February 16, 2024, 01:13:55 PM
One aspect many of you are ignoring is investing in shitcoins, coins that promises unrealistic return on investment... this is similar to ponzi schemes because they always end up as scam. The founders will collect your precious Bitcoin and hand over to you a bag of shitcoins that if not sold immediately you see in the market, they will turn to worthless bag of shit. I think this should be the most convincing and diplomatic way of losing ones BTC.  They leverage on the greed in humans to get their victims. It is important to note that BTC is enough for anyone looking for a genuine investment that will give good profits.
346  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: February 15, 2024, 11:59:25 PM
Bologna vs Fiorentina team match I bet against Bologna and won't win. I think Fiorentina team can do something good in this match but Fiorentina team players didn't play well so they didn't score any goals. Bologna team goalkeeper performed very well in this match for which Fiorentina  The team did not score any goals.
How you came to the conclusion that Fiorentina was going to win Bologna who are better in recent for and also have home to their advantage, still baffles me. If you check the stats you will realize that Bologna have been consistently winning their home matches and drew just once for a long time now. Fiorentina on the other hand have not been getting great results lately so I do not see the point relying on past glories instead of facing reality. Bologna won both Roma and Atlanta, so winning Fiorentina is not supposed to be a big deal because they are already prepared with what it takes to win a big team.
347  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The person who can’t control emotions in gambling will never earn money from it on: February 15, 2024, 11:55:44 PM
Gambling should not be for money making. If you have money and you want to make money with the money that you have, go for something else which is not gambling. Also do not go for trading.

Go for gambling to have fun and entertain yourself with the games while using small amount of money to bet.

The mistake I made in the past was that I used all the money I was earning to gamble. But now that I have just little amount as my gambling budget, I gamble responsibly.
I don't know what motivates you to gamble if not money. If you remember the feeling of winning a gamble, you will know that the real fun is in winning and without it the supposes fun is like suppressing the pains of losing money.

Everyone wants to earn a reward from whatever they are doing and this includes gambling. The greatest motivation for any gambler is the hope of making money at the end if the day.
348  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Anyone +18 Play Gamble? on: February 15, 2024, 08:48:20 PM
Currently, anyone can access online gambling and play online gambling, not only 18+ years old but also small children, because of easy access and lack of parental supervision of their children.
Nothing prohibits you from gambling if you have your own income and are 18+
It is a major course of concern in my opinion. The level of freedom kids enjoy now is just worrisome and parents have a fair share of the blame. The age bracket pegged by the casinos and supported by governments across various jurisdictions is actually to prepare the child mentally with a bid to ensuring they are able to take informed decisions and own up to the consequences of such decisions.

Anyone below the stipulated age that is actively gambling is doing something wrong and we must discourage such acts if we must raise people that will be better citizens and contribute positively to society. What I do not know is if there is punishment for younger folks that engages in gambling forcing them to stop or denying them access.
349  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HODL bitcoins, you can do it! Look at HODL camp map to build up strong hands on: February 14, 2024, 04:10:08 PM
Holding really matters in investing in Bitcoin but it doesn't mean we have to do this our whole life. If we take a look at the price chart, prices are growing but can we think this will be the same trend in the next few years? Not for sure and it was uncertain. So I could say that holding will not be forever as it also depends on the market situation. Selling our Bitcoin during the bull season is a perfect option IMHO and get on the train back again once the market correction starts. But yes, this needs strong hands because waiting for 4 years is not as easy as people think as we need to deal our emotions as well.
People have different reasons and target while investing in Bitcoin with this target determining, to a large extent, how they will going about selling and managing their portfolio. While majority of Bitcoin holders are looking at the profits they can possibly make from Bitcoin, a good number of Bitcoin investors including myself, already made up our mind to HODL Bitcoin as long as we live and even pass same to the next generation. Under this premise, selling during bull run is already out of the picture even though some could consider liquidating a portion of their Bitcoin stash with the aim of reinvesting same during bear season (this being just an option some people might consider while some will sell only when they want to pull out funds for other tangible projects that their emergency funds cannot cover).

So the pattern of selling off one's Bitcoin portfolio during bull market with the hope of buying them back during bear season may be good but not for everyone. In the end, it boil down to individual preference just like I explained before.
350  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: February 14, 2024, 08:39:29 AM
Although Real Madrid won this match, I am not happy with Real Madrid's victory. Real Madrid were a strong team but managed to win by just one goal. I expected Real Madrid to win by a bigger margin but it was a very competitive game until half time. Leipzig attacked a lot, with the Leipzig team hitting the goal post with 14 and Real Madrid with 15.

I think what makes Madrid strong and favorites is their winning mentality. I think a score of 1-0 is enough for them because they can really perform solidly and have a very good mentality. You can see how they were able to escape the pressure in La Liga when Girona put pressure on them in the previous few weeks. They were able to play solidly and yesterday they were able to beat Girona 4-0 and make them very likely to become La Liga champions this season. I think the same thing will happen in the Champions League. They won't be able to score a lot of goals but they will be able to perform solidly in every match.
I agree with you on this. Winning mentality is one advantage Real Madrid have over many clubs. I have actually come to understand that phycology play a very important role in the success of every team. Take Jose Mourinho for instance, he has this special way of motivating the players when he was coaching Chelsea and also Inter Milan during the peak of his career. He knows how to bring out the best in his players and transform an average player to an exceptional one.

Real Madrid's away win yesterday was a wonderful achievement for them because I don't see how Leipzig will come and win Madrid at Santiago Bernabéu. Even though it is a game of football that can go either way, Real Madrid have the experience and squad needed to tame Leipzig so they will definitely have their way
351  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: February 13, 2024, 11:20:11 PM
Historically, many folks have gotten overly greedy with their bitcoin and they put their bitcoin with third-parties in order to receive interest or yield and then they end up getting fucked.. so frequently it is not worth the risk to be using those kinds of interest bearing products in relation to your bitcoin, unless you can have some confidence that they are not gambling with your BTC too much.. which is truly difficult to assess because sometimes they are lying to you about what they are doing with your BTC in order to earn the yield.

That's why I don't like that yield farming or anything you call it which have long months or years lock-in since we don't know if they could able to last for long period of time.

Usually what we can see there is they turn scam and they take those balances and fucked up all their investors.

Much better if they just save their bitcoin on their personal wallet since they have total control of their funds and they can do whatever things they like especially selling it when they want pinch some profit.
Greed is really a terrible thing. If not greed, what will make someone give something as precious as Bitcoin to a third party? I see yield farming and the likes as ponzi schemes where the promoters lure people with huge ROI, they will pay the first set of people so they will spread the testimony to attract more people into their scheme where they will continue to gauge the level of cash inflow and will disappear as soon as they meet their target. I remember falling for those ponzi schemes then and it was not a good experience.

Only if people can see the power there is in owning Bitcoin, a treasure you hold that will never be affected by inflation and have the potential of generating unimaginable ROI. Bitcoin is one of the investment that requires the least input and maintenance, the job is done once and nothing is required to give you a lifestyle that you will be happy about. Provided you made the investment with money you don't have any urgent need of, money you can afford to leave in your bank for several years without being perturbed, then you will enjoy the beauty of Bitcoin.

Anyone that is privileged to learn about Bitcoin investment should take it seriously as it might just be a way of securing your future without you even knowing. The small fractions of your income you inject into Bitcoin might just be your biggest investment in the future.
352  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: The Nigeria system of education how it’s affecting the youths of today on: February 13, 2024, 02:12:18 PM
I will start my post with this statement: if you can genuinely make 2:1 which is second class upper division in any Nigerian public university, then you can succeed in any university in the world. If we conduct opinion poll among Nigerians regarding their view of the Nigerian system of education, you will see all manners of resentment,  negative report and what have you; people have worst things to say about our educational system and this is understandable. However,  looking at it from another perspective, the Nigerian system of education actually produce strong graduates that are intelligent and resilient. No wonder Nigerian graduates that travel abroad for post graduate degrees always top their classes. Nigerian graduates are moulded to be researchers,  self reliant with high endurance limit. Anyhow you bring am, we go run am for you... if you like teach us or no teach us, we go jack textbooks and still deliver in exams.

The major challenge I see about the Nigerian system of education is a total disconnection between the classroom work and the industrial application. The schools have no practical equipements and there is no synergy between the universities and the industries. The reason students struggle to get a place for internship and IT placement. If this can be fixed, trust me, Nigerian graduates will do wonders in all fields of human endeavors.

In conclusion, our educational system might seem poor, but it produces the best brains in the world, people who are smart, bold and willing to go extra miles to achieve success.
353  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How can a betting shop be so dubious like this on: February 13, 2024, 01:56:08 PM
The betting platform is not to be blamed as the victim gambled using a betting agent? But he went to their betting site headquarter with no help given.

He used the betting agent of the betting platform to gamble and he won $11800 when I converted the local currency to dollar. He said the owner of the betting shop travelled abroad but he met the workers. The workers wanted to scam the man by not giving him any money.

The people involved that wanted to scam the man have been taken to court. They were granted bail with two sureties and the case has been adjourned to match 4 2024.

Some people are just very dubious

https://punchng.com/bet-naija-attendant-friend-arraigned-for-allegedly-stealing-n16-7m
This is a regular occurrence in my country and the challenge many physical casinos are facing. Like you said, the problem is not always with the casinos but their agents in the various outlets. There was one an agent eloped with peoples winning giving them excuses that there were too many winnings so the company could not pay at once but at a later date. He used this excuse in buying time until he completed his paper works and traveled abroad with people's winning.

This is why many people have decided to use online casinos only. With online casino, if there is a problem, you will be interacting with the company direct not through a third part. There will be no case of an agent running away with people's money.

The real Satoshi Nakamoto has come forward and twitted in his new Twitter Account, He has made the clear statement that Craig Wright has infringed his Bitcoin White Paper.  The real Satoshi Nakamoto has informed Justice Lord James Mellor that Craig Wright is not the genuine author of the Bitcoin White Paper in an official Letter on the 9 February 2024.

He has made it clear that the real Satoshi Nakamoto is a British Economic Scientist who wrote the Bitcoin White Paper on  5 May 2007 18 months before publication on 31 October  when Hal Finney came to meet Satoshi Nakamoto in South London with Wei Dai and Alex Finney ad His Father Lou Finney From USA in Croydon on 26 October and met Satoshi Nakamoto.

Is this some sort of joke? How did you come by the conclusion that a random guy who just showed up on twitter and addressed himself as Satoshi is worth paying attention to? If Satoshi decides to come out from anonymity,  he will not stress the public in proving himself, just a signed message from one of his wallets will do.

I understand the dramas and scam attempts that happens during bull run, so this one is no exception. Oh I forgot, Twitter(X) is now paying,  so building a new account using the biggest name in the digital space is not a bad idea.
355  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Anyone +18 Play Gamble? on: February 13, 2024, 03:50:54 AM
Does gambling needs experience or anyone +18, even the inexperienced one can also play? Though playing gamble has a limited age grade or age bracket and the accepted is from  +18 years and there are some casinos hall at the door post, it is written clearly that it is only people of +18 can play. But what about the inexperienced ones, are they allowed to play gamble as well? Or they are also restricted to have the fun? In my observation, there are two elements to participate in gambling. One, you must above 18 years in my country and secondly you must have an experience to play, so I want to know if inexperienced people can also play gamble.
There is no connection ɓetween experience and the age limit adopted by the regulators. The later is regarded as the stage the gambler is expected to be matured enough to take independent decision and be responsible for the consequences of such decisions while the former is a difference ball game.

Furthermore, experience is not a measure of age because someone in his 20s can be more experienced than someone in late 30s depending on how many years each of them have been involved in gambling and how well they have been able to learn and grow in the gambling process.
356  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: February 12, 2024, 08:16:42 PM
The only match of the day in Italian Serie A will be played between Juventus and Udinese. The championship race between Juventus and Inter continues but Juventus lost to Inter last week and lost a very important advantage. Also, Inter completed their missing game in the league and increased their point difference with Juventus to 7. If Juventus wants to stay in the race, they have to win this game. If they don't beat Udinese today, Inter will be the strongest favorite of everyone.
This is supposed to be an easy match for Juventus considering their experience and home advantage. By head-to-head record, Udinese have only drawn just once in the last 6 meetings with Juventus winning all. I do not expect tonight to be any exception unless as Udinese have taken the lead with the Lautaro Giannetti 25th minute goal that have seen Udinese leading by a lone goal. It is still a long way to the final time so it is somewhat difficult to conclude that Juventus will lose the match like that lost to Inter Milan in their last match.
357  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: February 12, 2024, 07:37:27 PM
Crystal Palace vs Chelsea tonight, I’m thinking this could be a close game. The home fans at Palace are known to create a really good atmosphere. Chelsea could find it tough on a night kick off at their place.

Let’s see what happens, I definitely think there will be goals in this one.
Crystal Palace vs Chelsea will be a trailing game because both sides are competitive and keeps close eyes on the accumulative three winning points. I'm just at home relaxing, I'll not be placing any wager on this particular game because I perceive incompetent actions driven from the Blues end. Chelsea keeps making inconsistent results in matches, they just have to stick to becoming more balance in matches, especially when it comes to stellar performance. Chelsea do fumble against both average and elite teams, I'm a blue fan and probably, not giving 100% trust on my team.
I see a very tough match tonight between Crystal Palace and Chelsea, a match that will likely produce a winner and it is very difficult knowing who that winner will be. Both Chelsea and Crystal Palace have not been doing too well this season with the later even smelling the relegation zone. If Crystal Palace is to evade relegation this season, they must muster some courage to offset clubs like Chelsea that are easier to dismantle this season.

I will not go for winning in this match as it can swing either sides. A closer look at both teams will show that they have ben scoring as well as conceding goals this season so playing the match on goals will be a better option.
358  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hey! it's $50k today. on: February 12, 2024, 06:06:14 PM
It happened when we least expected. Everyone was looking at the ETF to propel this surge but they used it to shake out the weak hands for a free ride to the upside. With this, ATH high is possible before halving other things being equal. I can only imagine the future of Bitcoin and where we will be as fresh capital continue to flow into Bitcoin through the various ETFs!

indeed long term HODL will always win.

This one na major cause of concern for we wey dey for cryptocurrency business because I know say this one will never help us in anyway, rather, e go make accessing and using cryptocurrency hard for us because the regulators go must put measures to take collect money from our hand. I dey talk as a Nigerian wey understand say our government policy no dey favour the ordinary people, rather na how to make things more difficult for people. Make them just comot hand for cryptocurrency because this regulation no go solve any problem but go create plenty problems.

I dey advice people to reason DEX in case this people succeed in their their regulation. Keep your coins in your private wallet to avoid had I know!
360  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: February 11, 2024, 04:06:04 PM
Munich losing by three goals was gut-wrenching. A team of their calibre should fight, right? They gave Leverkusen the win on a silver platter. Think about it; more ball control but no action? What a shame. Instead of penetrating defences, they basically passed the ball aimlessly.

And dont mention Tuchel. I was optimistic, but this makes me doubt his methods. Disconnection is evident in the team. In contrast, Leverkusen played hard. I applaud Xabi Alonso for demonstrating the power of effective management without star players. What a contrast! It makes you wonder if Bayern needs a coach change.
I think it's all over and Tuchel is now in a very deep slump, no one is to blame but Tuchel for this embarrassing defeat.
I didn't expect Bayer, who was struggling to compete for the Bundesliga title, to lose with such a crushing score.

In this match, it was quite visible that Bayern's strength was able to be suppressed by Leverkusen's slick performance. Xabi Alonso's team was really quite surprising in what they showed.
In the game of football, there will always be a winner and what is expected when defeat happens is the spirit of sportsmanship.  As disappointing as it may be, Bayern Munic just have accept the fact that they were carefully and intentionally defeated by Bayern Leverkusen.  Maybe this will help them come to terms with reality that the league title is slipping off their grip. I actually like things like this as it has a way of proving that no one is indestructible.

Bayern Leverkusen have truly proven that they are prepared for the title this season. Their draw with Mgladbache actually put doubts to their resolve but this win have clear all doubts. Bayern Munic have to kick their wounds while the prepare to salvage what they salvage what they can.
