342  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Consensus Mechanism in Blockchain Technology on: June 22, 2024, 09:30:30 PM
Firstly it's important to understand that not all block chain networks are decentralised. Centralised networks such as that of Ethereum also exist bitcoin happens to be decentralised as a product of satoshi's enthusiasm towards the perfect P2P currency without a third party .

Decentralisation in block chain networks simply means that the network is not controlled by a central body (e.g the government) rather all users of the network have relatively equal rights.

Block chain networks make use of one of the safest form of data storage mechanism which is arrangement of data in a sequencial chain form. Now the reason it's safe is because In other for an anomaly to attack an old set of data they would have to first alter all recent ones before that particular data. And this can be very difficult meaning the older the data the more difficult it is to tamper.

Quote
For example, Bitcoin, created by Satoshi, uses a consensus mechanism called Proof of Work (PoW). Before a transaction is added to the Bitcoin blockchain, nodes (powerful computers operated by people) solve complex computations to validate it. If a transaction is invalid, the nodes can reject it. Conversely, valid transactions are accepted.

In simple terms , bitcoin POW gives every mined coin a data stamp of origin. This is to ensure that the coins can be spent in a transaction since miners have to confirm the coin has an authentic origin to avoid confirming a faked coin.

Hi Etranger, same number can be chosen twice? Or only one winner and earliest pick counts?

There can be only one winner. The first person who posted the right number will have the prize.
No problems Initially didn't notice 30 has been picked thanks to Dumper for noticing.

Firstly all transactions should be done here to ensure transparency, secondly you have to give the value in BTC then probably others may decide to bid on the rate they are willing to make use of.
The only details I think should be sent via a PM is something like account number, name and bank. The chances of you getting someone is low based on the fact that you are just a newbie as user will prefer making use of cryptoprenur brainboss'  or SmartGold01 exchange instead. Also put in mind that if someone decides to do this deal you will be sending first.

Congratulations also too all the others mentioned by Coin-1!

Thanks coin1 for observing this.
Also thanks to GazetaBitcoin for the congratulations I've always tried my best to contribute quality to the forum as well as learn. I hope I reach legendary someday.

I have done a couple of translations on our local board though I wasn't part of the AOBT gang.  Grin I think the slot for my local board is filled that's why I haven't bothered to apply.

355  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the main points of gambling? on: June 16, 2024, 10:16:36 PM
          -   Have you ever seen anyone gamble for no reason? Even if the only intention is to spend time gambling, there is still a reason for it. That's why other people hope to get income from gambling, right? I don't see any other reason other than that they think it can be a source of income, for fun and entertainment, and to prolong their stress. Is there any other reason besides what I mentioned?

Because by playing gambling, you practice on yourself how to be greedy or not to be greedy, so that depends on each individual player who enters a casino platform in the field of the crypto business industry, right?
No matter how everyone tries to express it, gambling has a similar aim of making profit and it's natural. Of course everyone has their different personal reasons for gambling, however the general and similar aim is to win. Alot of persons often say that they gamble for fun which is true for some of them , however gambling is only fun when you are making wins as there is naturally no fun in losing as a gambler. Infact losing ain't funny.
The base fact still remains that no matter your reasons for gambling as a gambler, winning is also a prior motive by default.
356  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin reserved funds are not meant for fun spending on: June 16, 2024, 09:09:20 PM
Op I really don't see the difference between hodling and keeping reserve funds. Hodling in the first place simply means owning some Bitcoins and keeping them from spending them. In that case you are simply making a Bitcoin investment for different reasons like battling inflation and most especially to make profit. If not for the fact that hodling is in Bitcoins mainly, it's same as keeping some reserve funds.
Op the backbone per say of an investors investment is the capital and the profit it attracts. Saving in fiat is not wrong rather it is less profitable based on the fact that it's value falls each day because of inflation. Although Bitcoin too is a volatile asset, people overtime have come to accept it as the best crypto investment mainly because of its breakthrough over the years.
357  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is there really 2^256 private key? on: June 16, 2024, 08:31:42 PM
2²⁵⁶ is actually the number of possible outcome for a private key. Mathematically it's similar to also saying that the number of private keys that can exist is 2²⁵⁶ this is because every single outcome of a private key is possible to be an actual private key to a wallet.
The reason for such a huge number is because of the number of possible permutations for each and every space from a character, keeping in mind that the character could either be an alphabet or a number and since repetitions are possible the permutations become beven more. The permutation possible is the reason why it would be impossible to brute force such huge possiblities given that it would take forever for a regular computer to do so.
358  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling all about luck? on: June 16, 2024, 07:47:05 PM

Depends what game you are playing.  I love playing poker and have always in the end made money from it.  When you aremt playing head to head against the house you can easily make a living off it if you had to and depended on it.  That's why in poker you see the same type people in the cash at all these tournaments.  I do think poker is an anomaly because it's a mix between gambling and sport.
The fact is all gambling activities require luck however it's relative based on the fact that the level of luck required to ace a win depends on the gambling activity. Some gambling activities require more luck than others, some require more of experience and others. , factors like ability to carry out analysis and calculations.
Part of the reasons why different gamblers have different games and gambling activities of preference is because of the fact that not everyone is very good at making analysis and calculations and likewise not everyone is equally lucky when it comes to winning bets.
359  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling can be a hope restorer if we go about it wisely! on: June 16, 2024, 07:34:36 PM

~~~
I watched a lot of interviews with players who smilingly talked about how they lost for months, losing almost everything in their lives. Starting from the apartment and ending with the trust of loved ones - which I consider in each case the most expensive loss. So, these people then got a very big win, and often it was so big that it would be possible to return all the material goods sold. But these ludomaniacs did not fix this profit. And they played on and lost.
I think the very first mistake a gambler could possibly make infact is the idea of believing that gambling will restore lost hope. Now don't misinterprete my point, as I'm not saying that it's not possible for gambling to restore lost hope, however my point is view gambling as a hope restorer may only make things worse. To start with wins are most interesting when you never expected it or saw it coming. However if you tend to be expecting a win , it won't feel that much interesting if you eventually get it.
Gamblers should avoid believing too much in winning a bet as it has some disadvantages like probably giving the gambler the urge to stake more so he can increase his wins.
360  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting law ignores technology and encourages clandestinity on: June 15, 2024, 10:45:09 PM
Most countries don't bother to regulate crypto casinos at all. They just ban them outright by blocking then. But it is very easy to circumvent these blocks and eventually most people that were going to avoid the blocks do it anyway. And it's impossible to give consequences to hundreds of thousands of people for something as trivial. At least it would be very tyrannical to try.
But I am sure Brazil has better issues to focus resources on. So I am not surprised. Most countries treat gambling the same. And interestingly the crowd of people that don't even know how to change DNS also are the majority so this regulation works.
That's just the internet for you. People will always find a way to bypass certain government restrictions and if it's just a casino ban they can probably tweak their IP via some VPN.
Without trying to be rude , I still don't see why some countries place ban on crypto related stuff like I don't really feel like it's necessary. Of course they may have their reasons but crypto currencies are undoubtedly the future of cash system and placing these bans only slow down the whole process.
With respect to the illegal issues, any cash system can be used for fraud weather directly or indirectly. Before crypto became popular, people still defrauded via fiat and other means.
