Kano/CK - Did you guys write the CGminer version for Avalon? if so, I gather its a very clean and un-bastardized version. Just curious since I just ordered 3 of them and looking forward to working with them. Have not used any Avalon's before.

Thanks,

Nice contest !!!  Thanks Kano and avalon, this will be fun.  I do have a problem with this part though :  "If for any month, the miner isn't won, it will continue into the following months until someone wins it."

If we dont find a block for a month Sad

250THs coincidentally odds to about a month for finding a block (~23 days).    gotta make you wonder if it's a coincidence  Wink

Steve0 and Steve1 already doubling his odds lol  Its possible he already was split or is two diff people tho..Smiley

Kano can you check the large users and see if they split up their accounts Smiley  lets keep it fair  .. be nice to go to a smaller miner guys:)

Best Regards
d57heinz

He's been split since he started here, I think he has 2 physical locations and tracks them separately for revenue reasons.

gear just got here.  I have not sorted it all.

but there are 10 avalon6's  give 20 miuntes to get back.

@ PPOC I have a plan for you since you have the three.

All others I am looking to get to us post office on sat.  which means tues to you all.

Excellent, much appreciated and thank you!

LLK
I will test every one out  and ship them on  sat

then host yours for a few days then ship on tues or what ever day works best for you.

you only lose the one day shipping instead of three.

I am out of town till 24th, leaving Tuesday 19th, so if you ship ground on Monday the 25th then I should have Tuesday the 26th.Least downtime and I will pay you for hosting the days you have it. If thats to long, no problem.

Thank you again and hope Kano has another 14 block run under 100%.

Yeah I have 0% respect for that scum bag.

Heh.  But how do you really feel, K?

Nicely said! What do you think about the 2MB increase? Irrespective of Sam, from a technical perspective. It does seam the 7-8 transactions per second is what we can handle now, thus bringing that to 14-15 might be beneficial.

@philipma1957 You are beyond an escrow person. All hats to you.  Grin BTW, what is the brilliant kilo17 cooling mod?

What is the type and model of the white fan that fits in the space where the stock fans were? Is that just a 120mm case fan?

@philipma1957 will I be getting a tracking number so I can track it and check on the status?

1  pikachuy         out for delivery today.
2 BigRedButton    Due monday

10 to my house are coming today  2 to 6 pm ------- I will get them to my post office on sat

4 to sidehack/sabercatt due tues

Philip, if I forgo testing of units by you, Anyway to get my 3 units out UPS ground today? I think post office is closed Monday (holiday), but UPS should be running and I am going out of town Tuesday night for a week. Would like to get these installed and running before I leave. If not, thats OK but just wanted to ask.

Maybe have a label printed when UPS shows up to deliver and just label 3 boxes and have the driver take it? just a thought?

best I can do is maybe get you to ups ground drop off by cutoff time.   I do not think I can do your idea.

the 10 units will come 2 to a box and I get 5 of them  plus 1 box of parts.

I have to open them make sure I get all parts sorted for you,  but  you are the only big order coming to me  3 pieces.

Or I could use the  mail on sat and you get them tues ,  or if you pm a pool to me I could host them temporary.

you are a 3 unit order which is about 10-11 ph .

Well, lets see what time you actually get the shipment and if its possible to get out UPS before cutoff, I'm sending you my info on PM now. Thank you for all help!

Just looked over at Slush's...they've only solved one block in like 11 hours...I'm not worried.

So far i think 100PH has left the network in last 12 hours, look at the block rates. I think 40-50PH from Ant and 40-50PH from F2. Guess they don't want the backlash from Mike's Hearns letter, so they can say who us? we don't control the network.
350  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: January 15, 2016, 05:33:24 AM
Anyone have experience using the S7 in an upright position where it's sitting on a wire shelf with the exhaust fan pointing to the ceiling and the intake fan at the bottom?  I'm hearing that this would increase the risk of the heat sink falling and burning out the boards but when I look at the pictures of the internal, regardless of what position there will always be some heat sink that will be in a vertical position.  Any other reason why I should avoid this particular configuration?  Intake air wont be block as it's wire shelves below have plenty of gaps for air.  My goal is to point all the exhaust fans to the ceiling Vent for better efficiency.

I have 3 running in this configuration and using fans in drop ceiling to pull all the hot air above the drop ceiling. Works well, I just zip tied the corners of the miner fans to the wire rack to make sure they don't tip over.

Anyone notice the little over 40PH that Ant lost today? I think it's helping keep the 10m block times and MAYBE diff in check this cycle. Where did it go? Maybe the s3 hashnest that just went negative maintenance? I always thought they were running all s7 and just charging people different rates for s3,4,5. Maybe they really had a legit s3 farm that they shut down?

Antpool is also a pool. People can point their own miners at it. Maybe lots of miners with S3 decided to pull their own plugs.

Maybe, but I would think that would be a little more gradual. 40PH is A LOT of HW and it all fell off very quickly. Another thought is Ant powered down 40PH to prep for Mike Hearn backlash, calling out the Chinese as owning the blockchain and that 2 guys own more then 50% of the network. Price took a hit and they may want to say, what we don't have 50% with F2. F2 is now showing 130PH, I think they were close to 200PH and look at the block times, WAY slow so a lot of hash got turned off.
352  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [10 PH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: January 15, 2016, 12:41:14 AM
Well...your question itself is the reason I don't rent hash. There's no BTCPD gonna look out for us. Our security is our own responsibility. That said, I'm sure the renters are, on the whole, honest...but I don't see much of a way to independently (as a user) verify that, and so my basically paranoid personality tends to rely on my own gear, and on a pool that essentially has the Bernie Sanders outlook...keep it honest, keep it efficient, and keep on truckin'...  Grin

Specifically, the hypothesis is that dishonest miners are contributing hashes but stealing blocks from various pools.  If pools don't have a way of detecting such behavior, then what you would see is some longer-established pools starting to see consistent lower luck.  New small pools such as kano would see relatively higher luck until the dishonest miners start infiltrating them as well.  In other words, the anecdotal data on "luck" of different pools is consistent with there being dishonest miners out there.

So what is or can be done to detect and/or block such miners?  Certainly over time you can run statistical tests that would identify miners with below-average luck.  At some point that becomes statistically significant, but a smart dishonest player could keep changing accounts to make this hard to detect.

Or more realtime tricks could be done by the pool to detect and kill bad players up front.

Don't know much about this but I can say that before I came to Kano, I used Slush and Bitminter. I rented from nice hash many times to supplement my own hardware and my rented hash has found a block for Bitminter and Slush. With Bitminter, my rented hash connected to them and within 30 minutes found a block. Funny thing was that my rental ended and the next block was over 300% so I got zero payment for that rented hash. Since my hash found a block so soon after connecting I did not have many shares on the 10 shifts they pay. On slush case it was about 18 hours after I rented the hash. In both cases it was 25th.

I also think we had several blocks found here with rented hash, just by looking at the worker names, don't know for sure but I'd say so with worker name like R1 or rent.

Either way it good for keeping diff in check. Hope it lasts.

So let's all wait and hopefully this all works out.

To any one that wants to order  we will try to get a batch of ten to do this again..

much thanks to all buyers Kilo17 and Yan

I have tracking for the ten to my house and the four to sidehack

the ten to me will arrive on Friday_ sent 2day air kilo17 stepped up for that

the four to sidehack will arrive on Tues sent ground.

I will forward the tracking number to sidehack.

I am interested in doing another group buy, but first want to these these first 3 up and running for a week to see how it goes. These are my first Avalon miners so want a bit with them since I am only familiar with BitmainCrap.

But I'll check this forum regularly to see when the new one is going to start.

Just joined this pool last week and compared to slush's pool im averaging 2-3 times what i was getting per block on there with my s5 , plus the fact i seen kano posting on here alot just get a better feel from here well happy i moved over Smiley .

Glad to hear it, now go get 10PH of your Slush friends to join you so they to can experience the best pool on the network!

Was getting worried approaching 100% Grin Grin Grin

I wouldn't leave with another 666.666 block.

Ditto, I'll never leave, I'll hash here till I don't hash no more. I've been here since early June (under 1PH pool) and lived through the Devil block, but with our recent luck 100% seams like 666% percent these days. Got used to 3-5 a day. haha

Well the trend continues, anyone remember that kano got the 1st block of the last diff and now we get the 2nd block of the new diff? Very interesting coincidence, I said back then that getting the 1st block of the diff change was good luck, well i guess the 2nd will be good also. So instead of 500% luck we will have to settle for 250% luck over the next 12-13 days.
