341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Become Immune to Scam ICOs with 5 Simple Rules on: January 27, 2019, 09:05:01 AM
OR you could become really immune to ICO scams with 1 simple rule:
1. never invest in any ICO

it is not like there is a shortage of ways to make profit in the cryptocurrncy market that you would have to only choose ICOs. there are lots of ways to make profit and trading is the most popular one which has a better chance of giving you a lot more profit. and it is safer because you can see the history of the coin you are buying and selling instead of giving your money to someone who you don't even know and have not yet seen anything from them!
342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do I buy bitcoin or litecoin? on: January 27, 2019, 08:54:17 AM
Based on what is currently happening what do you think I'm better doing, I have about $150 to spend

Buying bitcoin or litecoin?

Thanks
Bitcoin is the most dominated crypto currency and better to buy 60% of your portfolio and 40% for ltc so that if both coins goes up you have both and much better to buy more than 1 coins to diversify your porrfolio.

i would consider 100% bitcoin and no litecoin because LTC only follows bitcoin and not much else so it wound't be a "portfolio" if you bought something like LTC alongside your bitcoins.
on the other hand LTC had some good pumps in the past and that makes it a good short term investment for traders though.
343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can we stop promoting scam project? on: January 27, 2019, 08:48:04 AM
unfortunately the biggest problem with advertisers is that most of them only want to make money. it is not just the bounty hunters and signature campaign participants, but it is with everyone that is advertising something, even those who start a topic pretending they are not advertising but they are actually hyping up some shitcoin because they have bought some of it.

there is nothing that can be done to stop it either. the only thing to fight them is to educate yourself and others so that we  don't fall for their scams.
344  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Ok, here's a 1BTC puzzle. on: January 27, 2019, 08:28:43 AM
if not then OP should solve his puzzle. If he cant solve his puzzle then it was scam

you can only call it a "scam" if they asked you to pay some money to participate in this puzzle! since nobody asked for anything then worst case scenario is that you wasted your time and got "trolled".
345  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can we just point out the obvious? on: January 25, 2019, 02:08:14 PM
So a lot of us have these highly optimistic views towards crypto and bitcoin, this is fuelled by nothing more than the desire to make money from something which has had it's day.

you are correct about the hyped-up situation of cryptocurrencies from time to time but it all comes down to utilities in the end. when something has them it will continue to rise even if in short term it struggles and if it doesn't then when the hype wears off that thing will simply die with a slow downward spiral.

that is why bitcoin keeps recovering each time it goes down while altcoins get pumped and then their dump is the end of it all.
346  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can anyone or experts still predict/ forecast cryptocurrency nowadays? on: January 25, 2019, 02:04:22 PM
one thing that i have learned in the past couple of years is that if someone is actually a real "expert" he is not going to be wasting his time posting on the internet about his "predictions" ever.

so in other words whenever you see someone  who is claiming to be an expert and giving people predictions, then be sure that someone is full of shit.

to answer your question, yes it is possible to predict the market but why would anyone share it with others for free? all those who share are doing it for profit, it may not be coming from you "buying" it from them but it is profit nonetheless for example when they hype some shitcoin to be able to dump it at a higher price.
347  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ALL Initial Coin Offerings are Trash on: January 25, 2019, 01:14:34 PM
ALL ICOs are TRASH.
anybody who has been saying otherwise either has some stakes in it, like this one: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5102089.0 who is trying to sell his ICO and make money by ripping people off, or the topics come from newbies who started making money from advertising useless tokens to others, get paid in that token (bounty hunters!) and earn some money but now since ICOs are dying they can no longer make any money that way so they want them to come back.
348  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Can A Cryptopia Exchange Got Hacked Simple Like that ? on: January 25, 2019, 01:02:29 PM
exchanges scam their users all the time specially when they are small and failing to make enough profit and cryptopia has been having some troubles making ends meet lately prior to the hack so it is not unheard of for them to actually pulling a scam and running away with a big amount of money and then coming back months later like nothing happened.
349  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are ICO's Dead? on: January 25, 2019, 12:56:16 PM
Quote
They are ALIVE because they focus on building the technology

lol.
ICOs have been around for more than 2 years now and in this very long time we have not even seen a single ICO to "build the technology" one bit. there are other cryptocurrencies without any fund raising and scamming that have done a lot more than all the ICOs combined.
so yeah, they are dead.
350  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ALL in CALL in Cardano JAN 2019? on: January 24, 2019, 03:34:42 PM
i just have a couple of suggestions.
first and most important is that you should look at altcoin prices in bitcoin not in dollars. because their fiat values can be misleading most of the times. you may even be losing money by investing in altcoins while their USD value shows growth!

secondly i would personally never go "all in" anything even bitcoin despite being a "BitcoinHodler". the risk is too much and when we are talking about a naturally high risk market then going "all in" becomes even a worse decision.

as for this coin i have to say i don't see anything special in it although in the past it had short periods of time when it performed well enough. my approach would be a short term trader's approach. but that's just me using the strategy that has worked for me for a couple of years now.
351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: exchange fees that no one talks about on: January 24, 2019, 03:11:23 PM
how is it that every one is complaining about bitcoin high fees etc. but they arent talking about the ridiculous exchange withdrawal fees? these fees cost 10$ usd. that is sky high fees. this is tradesatoshi site. other site were charging alot too. u want to send and receive but these exchanges are making more money that the miners. where are you guys going to send and withdrawing your coins? these exchanges charging a dime for the withdrawal fees is not going to drive up adoption. i rather transact with a visa card. imagine buying some kfc and ur sending bitcoins through but get charge 10$ extra because exchange fees. thats bs.
I will prefer to use major exchange site which has already charged a few bucks. Remember hitbtc can be considered as an exchange site which has been putting non sense transaction fees. Someone stated that he got up to $50 to pay the fees only. i can get a few bigmac for that

there are actually a lot of exchanges that have high withdrawal fees. specially when it comes to altcoins. for example last time i checked Yobit (a shitty exchange that shouldn't have such high fees) were charging 0.01 BCH per withdrawal which is ridiculously high since they pay about 0.00001000 BCH fee themselves.

You can choose coins with lower fees. One of them is the NEO and the other is the XRP. Both commission rates are lower and faster than other coins.
you may wanna read the topic before answering next time...
352  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: High or Low Supply: Which do you prefer? on: January 24, 2019, 03:01:30 PM
it is not as simple as you think and i am very surprised about how some users are actually answering this question with fixed replies!

supply is not something you can define "low or high" for. supply is something that you should only analyze based on the usability of the token. for example when we have altcoin that is not used by anyone, then even having 10 coins as its supply is too much! but when it is used by more people and plans on being used by more, then having a higher amount is reasonable.
one good unit of measurement is bitcoin. it has 21 million. any altcoin that has more must also have more usage but since altcoins don't even have 1/1000 of bitcoin's usage then their huge supply is a bad thing.
353  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: There are coins with earnings without investing money? on: January 22, 2019, 01:27:22 PM
I'm pretty sure your example there is exactly what mining is, just with the added functionality of actually "handling" new transactions.

if I think the miner needs a lot of money to use to buy mining equipment, mining is like an investment but not the same and not willing to buy the tools too

not really!
with lots of different altcoins with different levels of difficulty and all kinds of algorithems you can always find something to mine with the computer that you already have. if you are a gamer then you already have a strong GPU capable of producing a decent hashrate. so there is no additional "investment" involved.
354  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Regulations or Anonymity on: January 22, 2019, 01:19:21 PM
if they regulate the market your anonymity is still going to stay the same as it always been so your title doesn't make any sense at all. as for the rest i think that people are putting too much faith in regulations for some reason as if they haven't seen any regulations in their lives before. they are not going to do anything about scams. the market will still remain somewhat decentralized and scams will still occur. specially now that decentralized exchanges are becoming more popular.
355  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I have not been nice in my predictions about ETH, but... on: January 09, 2019, 07:21:43 AM
the way that fork induced pumps work is this:
basically there are 3 time frames:
1. before the fork
2. close to the fork like the day of the fork
3. after the fork.

1. before the fork is starting from the time the news of it gets out and the hype builds up. initially whales start buying the coin to get ready to pump it and then slowly the pump begins. usually takes about a week.

2. right before the fork they dump the coin because they know others will surely dump right after the fork so they want to stay ahead of the curve but they don't want to dump all because there still is the free air drop coming after the fork

3. after the fork people get the free airdrop and then want to dump their coins (both of them) and they do and the coin drops hard down as people are cashing out.
356  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Exchange Coins Could Outperform Bitcoin & ETH on: January 09, 2019, 07:11:09 AM
this is missing a couple of very important factors:
1. Binance had a very successful business plan that helped their exchange succeed in this market and become number 1. they did a lot of advertisement and create a lot of incentive for people to actually join their platform which was also a good platform.

2. at the time Binance was starting to grow the biggest altcoin exchanges (the competition) have been turning into shit! the top ranking exchanges. Poloniex for example was having trouble with slowness, people were mad at them,... same was true about Bittrex in addition to the fact that Bittrex scammed a couple of thousands of their users out of millions of dollars.

3. it was in the early stages of the biggest pumping seasons that altcoin market had seen which helped a lot with their success and consequently their token's success.
357  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is investing in ICO's a good option? on: January 09, 2019, 07:00:06 AM
no, never and it doesn't depend on anything.

in my view, there is absolutely no reason for a developer of an open source project to ask for money to develop something that thousands of others are doing and many of them are doing it for free. and an ICO is exactly that, a developer with minimal programming skills, no financial knowledge and zero product is asking you to pay him money to copy paste some code.

if you want comparison, you can always compare things with bitcoin. you can't find anything bigger, innovative, or useful as bitcoin in this field to this day. the creator (Satoshi) didn't ask you to pay him to invent bitcoin! he did it for free, without an ICO, without any premine,.... he created it and released it to the world free of charge and open source with MIT license so that anybody who wishes could copy it freely.
358  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Kraken law enforcement requests triple in 2018 on: January 09, 2019, 06:50:30 AM
in a way this is showing the growth of bitcoin!

if you think about it, the increase in law enforcement requests from exchanges is proving that there are now a lot more people involved with cryptocurrencies and the government is starting to worry since they are losing their surveilling powers.
359  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETC vulnerable to 51% attack? on: January 09, 2019, 06:42:57 AM
Well, I guess we know the answer to this question now ...  Cry

LOL.
it is funny how NOW that the ethereum foundation is so desperate to push for this high risk and pointless  ETH fork to PoS we are seeing the issue about 51% attack and ETC being raised Cheesy
360  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Never buy too much coins because you would eventually forgot gosh on: January 09, 2019, 06:31:13 AM
the biggest problem with holding different altcoins is always going to be their price. since altcoins are all getting pumped and dumped (some are created for pump and dumping and some are getting pumped and dumped but they all are affected) they all share the risk of losing their value in a very short time without you finding out about it.

so when you own many altcoins you are increasing the task you have to perform for watching and following them and increase the risks of losing more money.
