341  Economy / Economics / Re: Countries with banks to buy and sell cryptocurrencies on: February 12, 2020, 07:00:14 PM
I read this article after reading this thread: https://www.coinspeaker.com/germany-law-banks-cryptocurrency/

I am not sure how it works as if banks hold crypto on behalf of their clients, what happens if a hack takes place which is the most common thing for any exchange these days. Also, can't find any information about the interest rates and other services like deposits etc.

If banks hold crypto of their users, it will be similar to the online crypto exchanges we know already nothing different, the only difference will be that these commercial FIAT banks will help to spread crypto faster to the non-crypto average person, meaning more value for bitcoin and cryptos.

Instead suggesting that this platform can become even better in terms of allowing more tools to facilitate the knowledge to be shared with many more people
As much as I hate Facebook and everything that it stands for, OP does have a good idea underneath this, although he has obviously chosen a poor comparison to make it.

There are things we could do to improve the dissemination of knowledge amongst users, particularly users who are new to bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general. theymos suggested establishing "courses" which were hosted/linked to the forum a few years ago, but unfortunately nothing ever came of it. (Thread: Idea: Courses) Such courses could also fulfil many of things which make Facebook so addictive to so many - gamified, points for completion, ranking up, share your achievements on your profile, and so forth. It could be a win-win - it would be good for the users because they would have an unbiased and moderator source of information to learn form, and it would be good for the forum because we would have users who are more educated and therefore more contributory.

The forum already hosts a lot of guides and educational threads, but unfortunately many of them aren't kept up-to-date, and recently I've been seeing many "Guide" threads started be people without a firm grasp on the subject themselves (perhaps seeking merit), which contain inaccuracies or errors, which then need to be corrected in the comments below. Perhaps collating these in to one place and then editing them for accuracy/ease of use would be a good first step.

Perhaps what is missing in this forum is a section for proposals, if it exists already I haven't seen it. Those proposals will help this site to become better and provide better service to its users.

Dissemination of information is a good idea! a lot of people is in the need to find practical and useful information to have it ready without having to spend a lot of time searching here and there. That would be a good feature to start with.

Courses are a good idea too, so there is a lot to do in terms of improvements.

343  Economy / Speculation / Re: One satoshi for $1 dollar will occur someday on: February 12, 2020, 06:49:47 PM
BTC wont be taking over every type of currency I doubt, I dont even think the domination of USD since ww2 will be repeated again for a while.    BTC value will rise but also the dollar value people use as reference is going to drop as well, they are inverse in that way.     They'll be more variety of currency types in future, thats my take not so much technology point of view but I think politics and global trade will shift.

We don't know yet which currency will become the popular one, we can guess it will be bitcoin for being the first one. But the list of many better altcoins are getting more popularity and when people realize the good features of those altcoins then they will start buying plenty of them, today is btc turn but soon it will be altcoins turn!
344  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin really still decentralized?? on: February 12, 2020, 06:46:10 PM
Miners own mining, they don't own Bitcoin's protocol or Bitcoin network or Bitcoin community. Miners don't influence the price in any special way, and there's also no solid proof that anyone successfully manipulates the price on a large scale, it's just rumors of frustrated traders who lose their money doing bad trades.

Bitcoin is still the most decentralized cryptocurrency, because it has the biggest network and community and the most decentralized development with hundreds of contributors.

One of the main reasons why bitcoin and crypto users have stopped using it is because of misinformation and misinterpretation of what's happening inside the cryptoworld. If we read more articles about it, we will be more knowledgeable and there will be no more confusions regarding this topic.

To clear things out, bitcoin is decentralized and there is no way that those miners will have control of it.

As we know the mainstream media has been spreading poor and misinformation about bitcoin and other cryptos. People need to read some good sources of information and avoid mainstream media which their business is basically to misinform to society, their goal is to profit from telling lies, people need to stop watching any centralized media.

345  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the most speculative altcoin that might be gain high ROI in case of all on: February 12, 2020, 06:07:47 PM
crypto will go up?

Will be happy to hear your opinions and advices.

thanks.

There are many speculative altcoins, one of them is ETH.

A lot of people are mentioning that the crypto ecosystem has entered in a bull run stage, time will tell, and another way to verify this is checking the big list on CMC where you can see the coins having high 24 volume and getting higher prices, that 's a good source to track altcoins and btc if you hold some of them.

What those groups of people saying the earth is round will win if that is true?

And what those groups of people saying the earth is flat will win?

347  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Money laundering via BTC on: February 12, 2020, 03:06:48 AM
it is possible to launder money using bitcoin, the simplest thing to break up bitcoin in some exchangers without the need for KYC.
and from the exchanger it is withdrawn with other cryto assets.
You'll be trace because exchanges uses only few wallets although with difference address per user.
If that exchange is regulated by the government, they can require the exchange to give information if the AMLC will conduct an investigation on the certain address being use for suspected money laundering, the best way to do it is through mixers, they are not regulated so it will be hard to trace the money once its on the mixers already.

In that case, many people will opt to use privacy coins, many of them have mixer features and are untraceable. On the other hand, privacy is a right, even the congressman mentioned how the USA will be to protect citizens from prying eyes when doing crypto tx and he referred to the idea that privacy coins are going to be needed, unlike China, they have a different market, who knows what will happen with their new CDDC.
348  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin a Safe Haven for Your Money? on: February 12, 2020, 02:59:23 AM
Bitcoin has many more advantages if we compare it to FIAT money. Bitcoin's value is increasing with time, it has blockchain (decentralized databases around the world) backed by algorithms via computers, and not just politicians like FIAT money! Bitcoin has transparency, FIAT money it doesn't have it!
You are right for this, but you should have be carefull also when you have bitcoin. I don't say bitcoin is not safe heaven, but you need to look arround espcially your government regulation. Bitcoin price could be fall in price if all government in around the world try to ban it and your will gone. It would be possible if bitcoin price back to zero value if all government do that but I'm not expected it. But in this situation where there are many countries who still accept bitcoin I'm sure bitcoin is really deserve to say as a good investment place. But I still doubt to say that bitcoin is safe heaven place because there many consideration to say it.

It seems to me that bitcoin is government resistant because the more government try to ban it, the more popularity bitcoin gain, and if government want to control it, then better for bitcoin, because that is just another level of attention bitcoin could get from government and it will keep thriving in a positive way for holders, with or without governments.

351  Other / Serious discussion / Re: The risk of investing in cryptocurrency on: February 12, 2020, 02:50:04 AM
Well, I realize the risk and I am ready to take it. I never use the money needed to cover bills or to pay for my child’s education, but I invest in crypto permanently.

Tha's a clever decision, investing in Crypto now is like investing in the domain names's boom in 2000, as long as we are responsible and e only invest the amount we are willing to risk or lose if that occurs.
352  Other / Meta / Re: BitcoinTalk can become the facebook of money on: February 11, 2020, 11:35:46 PM
If you are referring to Facebook's success in terms of audience, and reach

Yes, I am referring to Facebook in terms of how popular it is and how successful has become reaching millions even in the small towns on the planet.

Not suggesting to do awful things Facebook does with people's information. Instead suggesting that this platform can become even better in terms of allowing more tools to facilitate the knowledge to be shared with many more people, as we know there is no point in the comparison between this forum and Facebook. At Facebook people waste too much time because it was designed for people looking for attention, but here it is more for people to learn and help themselves and others to find and offer crypto-financial knowledge.
353  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The real education are not taught at school!! on: February 11, 2020, 11:27:42 PM
New generations need to learn how to become self-learners that is the challenge for parents, schools, and society, in general, to teach how to become self-learners, self-education, because with that people will find better alternatives, solutions, possibilities, and get rid of the intentionally programmed plans currently taught at these days shools.
354  Other / Off-topic / Re: Flat Earth on: February 11, 2020, 08:52:58 PM
Let's think for a moment that we are on a flat earth. Fine, what would happen next? maybe social progress would be different with less manipulation?

Let's think for a moment that we are on rounded earth. Fine, what would happen next? apparently nothing, we have been living on this idea for centuries. But perhaps having this conditioned idea seeded in our minds is the result of what we keep having on this 3D world. Not that much social progress.
355  Other / Meta / BitcoinTalk can become the facebook of money on: February 11, 2020, 08:11:00 PM
This crypto forum has helped a lot of people in terms of learning, sharing knowledge, earning money, etc, etc! but we haven't seen yet the whole potential that this forum could reach only if some investors can propose to the owner of this forum in order to convert it into something that could easily become the Facebook of money.

It has reached popularity already, and it has been one of the pioneers in the crypto ecosystem. So it has many advantages if that idea would happen.

356  Economy / Economics / Re: How do manage portfolio efficiently while having a full time job? on: February 11, 2020, 08:06:26 PM
you need to track the new developments regarding various cryptocurrencies which you are holding. For this, you need to regularly check various crypto news sites.

That is true, managing many different coins is a time consuming, it is better to focus on projects we believe and we can see that those projects are having real use cases with community support and community-oriented problem solutions.
357  Economy / Speculation / Re: One satoshi for $1 dollar will occur someday on: February 11, 2020, 07:45:22 PM
At some point in time, people will use every day satoshis as a unit of currency in order to buy things like vegetables, groceries in general.

Satoshis will become the new money standard in people's daily life. Thanks to the scarce 21 million BTC as a maximum supply of this blockchain.

The more the whole bitcoin unit keeps expanding its price, the more value a satoshi also will have. We can see this happening already with some mining companies, crypto casinos, bitcoin faucets providing each week fewer satoshis as a reward, and also we see people working for satoshis, in order to increase their satoshis/bitcoin balance!

It sounds vastly unrealistic! If Satoshi value reaches to that level and if the world mass starts using bitcoin for their daily use - just imagine the number of transactions the network will have to handle! At the current state, bitcoin network is simply not capable of handling such volume! I am not being pessimistic here but realistically thinking the situation!

Yes at this time it looks unrealistic.

Perhaps before we go that far in comparison the best way to put it is to say when 1 satoshi reaches the price of $0.01 dollar; then that would be 1 bitcoin = 1,000,000 which is closer than $1 dollar for sats, in terms of time.

And Lightning network is something that will help to handle a lot of tx per second.

360  Economy / Economics / Re: Goverments creating digital currencies - Threat or Opportunity? on: February 10, 2020, 07:12:47 AM
This is a big opportunity for the crypto ecosystem/industry. This will enhance the whole crypto and give trust to existing and new potential investors. CBDC is a new wave where the government is trying to do their own projects but in the end, decentralization will win. And governments, as we know, are not decentralized at all. They will fail to keep controlling the masses.
