341  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why bitcoin transactions fees gone high and will be be increasing day by day? on: April 22, 2024, 09:35:58 AM
Yes, something similar to BRC-20/ordinals has become possible for the creators to include in blocks and that's the cause of those higher fees.

That thing is named as runes by the developers, and the rune creators are spending huge amounts to get their runes minted so they can make more profits as early adopters of it.

Runes are just like meme coins on Bitcoin network and if they continue popping like that then they may create more network congestion in coming days.

If the hype of runes get reduced then we may see low transaction fees once again and till then we will have to cope with those fees as part of Bitcoin community.
342  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is this madness or what? on: April 22, 2024, 09:30:33 AM
For some time now I have been trying to rap my head around the reason why a lot of persons were ready to pay such enormous fees so their transactions would be included in block #840,000.
Some of those paid such amounts so others can remember them and they can proudly say that they made transactions during the halving block. While most of the ones who paid such high fees were interested in gaining more from that approach.

I have already mentioned that Rune creators were willing to pay premium fees to get their runes minted at that block so their runes may gain very high value just because those were minted earlier than other runes.
343  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to be more visible in the forum as a beginner on: April 22, 2024, 09:24:52 AM
However, newbies who are referred to this forum by someone else and have been told that they can earn money from here if they have a higher rank and to get a higher rank, they would now require merits....
That's true but most of the times those newbies aren't newbies in real but the ones with alt accounts who want to earn extra money having multiple ranked accounts.

There are many account farmers who always try to rank up their accounts so they can start earning from this forum.

I know some newbies are also referred to this forum by the ones who are ranked members but in most cases those newbies are alt accounts that want to earn merits in short time.

You have to accept that there will always be something you don't know, and there will always be people who can teach you something.
That's a great advice for everyone, and I agree that no one is perfect and everyone has to learn something new from those who already know that thing.

Rank can be helpful to start earning from signature campaigns but it's not a sign of someone's extra knowledge.

In some cases the newbies can also teach high ranked members some valuable things, and that's why one should always look for learning new things instead of thinking about ranking up.
344  Other / Meta / Re: Why is merit not common on trading discussion board on: April 22, 2024, 09:17:05 AM
Merit sources ignored most of the discussion boards due to spam invasion so it's obvious that if no merit sources is not visiting the circulation of merit will be limited too.
If I'm not wrong then merit sources mostly ignore the gambling boards as those are least interesting for them and topics at that board mostly contain repeated material. The trading discussion board is not like gambling discussion because in this board various good topics are created by some good traders and others who are into trading share their insights related to those topics.

I'm not sure why merit sources even think about ignoring a board like trading discussion. If I was a merit source, I would never ignore boards like trading discussion since it's highly helpful for Bitcoin community because most crypto users start their crypto journey with trading and if such board isn't given priority then that's not going to be helpful for those users.
345  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is this madness or what? on: April 21, 2024, 05:42:12 PM
Ordinals were the first one to pollute Bitcoin network and now the rest is done by those runes. The runes basically allow developers to create fungible tokens on Bitcoin blockchain. They are another weapon by those haters who want to pollute the Bitcoin network, but we know that their main intention is to make money out of it and that's why they don't really care about Bitcoin users.

It's somewhat an attempt to make more money out of that rune because the one who paid such transaction fees already knew that he makes way more money than what he spent on minting of that rune. The developers who mint such runes often have pre made plans, they simply wait for the right time to execute those plans. And, right time for that guy was halving event.

They can post naturally for their interest in any board but if they fortunately choose to start with boards where people discuss highly educational, technical and helpful, they will have more chances to get merit.
I believe a beginner should not focus on merits at all at least for a few weeks. If I'm not wrong then those who are new on this forum may not know the merit based system, however the ones who pretend to be new may have knowledge regarding the merit based system.

In my eyes, a newbie should focus more on learning then on gaining merits or recognition. Overtime when they learn things properly and apply that knowledge when they create posts, then they automatically get merits for their posts.

348  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: No gambling today due to bitcoin high transaction fee. on: April 21, 2024, 03:44:54 AM
Nevertheless it also become a reason for the addicts to stop gambling. Let’s see when the prices come back to normal.
The addicts don't really care much about the fees because they spend then thousands of dollars worth of Bitcoin in gambling and pay transaction fees of $100 wouldn't bother them too much.

Most of those addicts know that they can also choose alternative coins for depositing and thus they might go with alt coins when the Bitcoin network is congested.

But, I'm very sure that even the high fees aren't much high for the addicts who spend thousands of dollars on betting each week.
349  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔥🔥🔥 BC.GAME - CASINO AND SPORTSBOOK | $1,000 GIVEAWAY LIVE! 🔥🔥🔥 on: April 21, 2024, 03:33:59 AM
Tombstone No Mercy.

It has 10 additional spins for a wager of $5, I put 50 spins at 0.1 bcd.  The 10 free spins left me $0.5 profit.  Cry

That's a good profit, anything that's made out of free spin is profitable. When wagering comes then things may go somewhat complicated but as long as it's small then once should not have any issues.

I always try to find and avail free spins and when I get some good rewards for free then I don't hesitate to complete the wagering requirements.

Thanks to everyone for commenting on this thread, and special thanks to theymos for updating the forum with latest Bitcoin Core release which is 27.0. Since the forum's Bitcoin Core version was updated, I'm locking this thread for good.

Thank you.
351  Other / Meta / Re: Introducing scammers to the forum. on: April 21, 2024, 03:19:01 AM
We can't stop scammers from having accounts on this forum or getting here through the Google search engine and that's why any attempt to not recommend this forum to your friends and colleagues
would be an attempt to stop them from learning about Bitcoin.

We don't really know who's going to be a scammer and who's going to be a good and reputable member of the forum in future. That's why it's not going to be helpful to stop someone from learning about Bitcoin through Bitcointalk.

The ones who have scamming mindset and try to scam the members of the forum will get tagged and the ones who have awareness regarding scammers will never fall for their scams. I believe we should not prevent someone from knowing about this forum.

Mr peanutswar how about my prediction which is also at the time the first goal was scored?
If I'm not wrong, first one who makes the prediction gets the reward for that prediction. Strunberg has made that prediction on 14th of April while you have made it today, and by keeping that in mind, strunberg's prediction was accepted and he won the contest.

What a rare incident, I actually got something right, awesome.
Thank's again for the prediction contest, SamReomo was just 87$ off the price, that's some great guessing skills!
Well deserved win!
Thank you, yeah it's also my first win on a prediction thread too and I'm happy that I participated in the contest. I followed my own strategy to predict the price and actually it worked for me this time.

Thanks to Blackjack.fun for sponsoring that prediction contest, and to Peanutswar for arranging that event, finally thanks to Icopress for taking care of the event.
358  Other / Meta / Re: Why is merit not common on trading discussion board on: April 20, 2024, 05:40:46 PM
Just because merit/post reatio on a certain board is low, doesn't mean that automatically needs a dedicated merit source as you have to take into consideration quality of discussion as well.
I think having a dedicated merit source for a board isn't bad either as that merit source can look for high quality, useful posts on that particular board and send merits to the members who make good quality, helpful posts on that board.

I believe most boards should have a few dedicated merit sources so the members who make posts in those boards may get some merits. Like most local boards have dedicated merit sources who send merits to the helpful posts at those local boards.
359  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin Core 27.0 has been released and the forum should update it on: April 20, 2024, 05:34:06 PM
Actually this is not true for the torrent link  Wink
I was about to share the torrent link of the updated version of Bitcoin core but then I tought it would be great if Theymos share it on the top of the forum.

@achow101 has posted today about the latest releases - 25.2, 26.1, 27 - hence I expect the forum link will also get updated soonTM.
Thanks for letting me know, I haven't seen achow101's post and that's why I created this one. However, I hope that soon Theymos may update the Bitcoin core 27.0 and its torrent on the forum.

You can’t stop these newbies from posting into that board if they feel they have serious information to share, most especially if they have seen that most of the posters there are not knowledgeable enough.
Yes, I agree, the newbies always want to target those boards which are not so tough for them and that's why it's not possible to stop them from posting at such boards. The forum allows them so we also should not worry much about those newbies.

I believe that if they continue posting in non relevant boards then it would be hard for them to learn about Bitcoin. In order to learn Bitcoin properly, they have to visit the boards where information about Bitcoin is discussed, and those boards really help out newbies.
