I had my doubt about the Juventus and Lazio game, I thought Lazio were going to give the old ladies a good fight but at the end of the day the home team were the better side. Lazio has been putting up some inconsistent performance and today's defeat proves that Sarri has more work to do to start turning things around.
Another interesting game today was the Milan derby, as Inter Milan humbled Ac Milan 5 - 1 to go on top of the table. Mkhitaryan was just fantastic today scoring a brace and making an assist, Thuram also had a great game and his role in the build up to the first goal was just pure brilliance.
Massimiliano Allegri is happy with his squad, contemplating on another victory in Seria A, it's about time they get their best peak together and be in the race for the scudetto this season, whereas they got suspended in other elite competitions, time for Juventus to make the scudetto their ultimate priority. Beating Lazio 3-1 was not that difficult for them. Zero competitive strength from Lazio. Today's game was really tough for Manchester United and is like the international break shouldn't have come to an end for some of the fans. Being a United fan is really worrisome but the fans won't admit it that they have a problem and it has been spotted in today's game.
Ten Hag was just having a bad day with the way Brighton players was running round the pitch, taking care of business and at some point I was thinking that it was Brighton who was Manchester United because they played very well and I could see the midfield of Man UTD being taken from the home team.
In that encounter I believe that a true UTD fan would tell that their problem is the midfield. Is not about signing players from different league is about making use of them getting that unity between the players in the locker room.
Disappointing results from Manchester United, after dominating the game in the first 7 to 10 minutes I expected United will record a goal within this period but they failed to put their advantage to good use. And Brighton who were the visitors converted one to finish the first half and later concluded the game in a 3-1 victory. Certainly this wasn’t the kind of results the club would want at the beginning of the league but there is still time for improvement. Yes indeed it was a very poor performance coming from a club that we all expected more, something big to happen in their favor (but not me though). United has never had it that they can beat Brighton that has shown the football world that they have what it takes to be at the top level. Imagine a team like Brighton playing a more entertaining football more than Manchester United, and I ask, why did Manchester United qualify for the UCL in the first place? With their performance against Brighton you'd agree with me that they're not ready and they're going to find it hard to survive that group. Of course the Champions League title is the ultimate goal for PSG. It was the same for Manchester City as well and they finally made it. But their team performance really deserved to win that title. However we haven't been able to watch a good level of team performance by PSG consistently. This is why they are even having big issues to getting close to the finale.
Even though PSG don't has a very good and strong performance this season if they to be the winner Champions League then there is little chance of PSG reaching the final because in League 1 alone PSG experienced a significant decline in performance and they seemed to improved when some time ago Mbappe took part down into the field. The quarter-finals may be PSG last achievement in the Champions League this season and even then there is only a small chance of reaching the quarter-finals, just as an assessment last season when PSG still had great players in their squad they couldn't last long in the Champions League then this season they lost several of these players so that the possibility of survival was increasingly closed. This season PSG are even more unpredictable. They will be much more dependent on Mbappe after Messi and Neymar have left. If we don't see them cutting this dependance as much as possible and focus on team play instead then I won't be expecting them to achieve anything in the Champions League.

IMO, people have a tendency to overestimate the capabilities of past players. I have no doubt that Pele and Maradona were great players. In fact I would say that the quality of competition is much higher now, when compared to what we had a few decades ago. Portugal had no mercy facing a mediocre country interms of football, thrashing Luxembourg 9 nil with full domination and emphatic winning. I'm not surprised because Luxembourg happens to be one of these countries with mediocre players that are still trying to adapt to high level of football. It's just a big missed on the big name, Cristiano Ronaldo missing out on the game against Luxembourg, he would have scored an hattrick. We all know how versatile he can be on the pitch, very good in positioning for goal scoring. I'm sure Cristiano Ronaldo is experiencing the biggest sadness in Portugal because he couldn't be on the field in the match, which was a complete festival. It was a 4-goal match in the first half, and with 5 more goals scored in the second half, Portugal virtually wiped Luxembourg off the field with a total of 9 goals. They still haven't conceded a single goal in the qualifiers, which shows how good they are. @W Jr. I’m yet surprised that the coach has kept Ronaldo around because he won’t be much use for them and there’s the fact that they play much better when he’s not starting and further Bruno also performs better in his absence hence I guess soon Ronaldo will have to quit playing for Portugal. Lastly Portugal are improving a lot but they need to consistently win but things will chance for them when Ronaldo is back hence what do you’ll think the coach should do i.e. bench Ronaldo or tell him to move on? |

Lankans spin the shit out of India today. At one point Indian openers were feasting but ah after 11 overs all went down the drain.
There was one partnership building up between Kishan and Rahul but they also fell to spin, So far Spin has taken all 9 wickets and Indian spinners must be licking their lips as well. Having said that Indians are still short of 15-ish more runs, as far as competitive score is concerned. Maybe some cameo from Axar could change the balance? We still have 3 overs left, he still needs to farm strike tho.
@JSRAW just when it felt that team India was bouncing back and was looking to be a dominant force once again the Lankans exposed them and I’m actually happy that they did because it’ll give the team management enough time before the World Cup to work on these recurring issue’s. Further let’s see if the Indian bowlers can redeem themselves by saving the team from an embarrassing defeat, but given the weather conditions team India might just be spared from an defeat too. |

We have entered a new race week in Formula 1 as well. This time we are going to watch Singapore GP. The last race here in 2022 was really like a nightmare for Verstappen. There was rain and Verstappen was able to finish only at the 7th position. Rain is expected again in Singapore this week so it can be a pretty interesting race. Pretty sure Verstappen already learned his lesson on the last Singapore GP. He'd take things slow and get the necessary tires before unleashing the fury of his car. One of the reasons he placed badly on Singapore GP last year is because he didn't change tires soon enough, thinking that he can get a comfortable lead before going to the pits. Hopefully that won't happen especially now that rain is forecasted over Singapore. @dothebeats I’m pretty sure that Max has learnt his lessons and currently he’s having a nearly perfect season hence I don’t expect him to repeat the same mistakes that he did last year. Lastly even with the rains predictions I yet feel that Max will comfortably win this race too but I’m also hoping that other drivers offer some fight at least otherwise this race too shall get boring to watch pretty quickly. |

Craze of cricket in india along with BCCI management has changed cricket altogether. Till 90s there was not much money in cricket and only England and Aus have strong influence in crikcet. But now bcci is supreme board in cricket along with England and Aus. IPL is growing bigger and bigger with every passing year and this is giving immense benefits to all players involved including broadcasters.
Two things are happening now. Popularity of cricket in India remains as it is, and that in other countries such as England and Australia are on the decline. As a result, now India is contributing to almost 90% of the ICC revenues, while the media rights fetch smaller amounts with each passing cycle in other regions. IPL will only get bigger and bigger. Very soon we will have ~20 teams playing in this league, and 4 months every year from the cricket calendar will be blocked for the IPL. In the end, we will get something similar to the situation in basketball, where NBA is dominating the sport and USA is almost unbeatable. @Sithara007 cricket is inbuilt as an religion in every Indian be it a kid or an adult and that’s why Cricket will always have an ready made audience which is always growing in numbers. Furthermore when IPL was made longer I thought that this was it the end of IPL was near but surprisingly many people actually watched all matches and enjoyed it too and that’s when it stuck me no matter what BCCI does people won’t stop watching Cricket and it’s popularity won’t ever die. |
