3401  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Next Generation ASIC's - How do we recycle the past? on: December 18, 2015, 04:28:50 AM
BTW which miners do you think are most likely to be assigned to the annals of history?

I think it will be based on the first's like usb from asic miner.  Or some of limited quantity run's that there are fewer in number.

Those are the two I see as being most collectable long term.  But not sure as far as value in 10-20 years... hard to tell could just be a cool item on wall.   Also one's with multiple colors... people love collecting a set always will.
3402  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: December 18, 2015, 04:24:46 AM
The specific information I posted is that cgminer-gekko does not currently recognize the EU sticks. Stock cgminer also doesn't recognize the EU sticks as Compacs but enumerates as U3, which has limited frequency options and defaults to a higher clock speed than the factory stock setting. BFG works better, but stock cgminer should still work.

Stock CGMiner works fine as icarus.  I have set it up on my RPI to have a original and a compac-cgminer.  So I run 2 instances which it is very capable of doing and you can select miners.

That is workaround I have used so far.  Seems to do fine.
3403  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Avalon Avalon6 Setup [HD] on: December 18, 2015, 04:22:05 AM
I checked my router and it isn't connected.  That's what I meant.  I guess I did it right?  I really have 0 experience with these rpi's.

If you're using the image I think of I think it might be a static IP.  Make sure you're using one of the ones that is confirmed at dynamic.

I know there are some out there such as BlockC's that is dynamic IP.  But I would try a image verified as that.
3404  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: December 18, 2015, 04:15:45 AM
Thanks Oregonmine.com  .  I'm using the 2 x Dell 750W PSU on 120V outlet.  It's showing as using 12V and the results are pretty much the same as when using the EVGA.  I'm now curious as to whether people were getting 3.7-3.9TH by using 240V outlets for higher efficiency.  The Dell 750Watts on the 120V outlet is showing only 12V so it's not increasing the voltage at all on it's own.  I'll wait until others who have tried this chimed in.

You should be able to do it on 120 to.   I have not used the Dell 750's but a lot of the ones that do have something to adjust it and voltage goes up or down depending on adjustment.

Anyone use the 750's and know if they have a voltage adjustment?
3405  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Setting up new diff thread Dec 6 to Dec 20 picks closed. on: December 18, 2015, 04:07:01 AM
Today is done at +6.5%

Less then 24 hours left. Most likely it will be between +17-19%

Good luck to all who chose those numbers.

I am in that range.  I suppose it is good luck for those who picked but it is rather bittersweet...

Yea honestly it's hard to be happy when it's in that area.  I hope it goes down next period.

Value over 450 so still doing ok. But not enough if 20ish becomes the new normal.
3406  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best bitcoin wallet? on: December 17, 2015, 07:19:32 PM
in my opinion the best wallet and the one that no one could steal your bitcoins from easily is the paper wallet or the hardware one though if you need a hot wallet which you could use every day then online wallet like blockchain.info is the best in my opinion

Or look into a hardware wallet and it's very easy to spend bitcoin.  But much safer then a hot wallet.

I would highly suggest doing this over actually using a hot wallet.   I went from strong paper supporter to hardware supporter recently after using one.

Thanks guys, starting my rig after Christmas! Btw, the S5 would go in my furnace room and no one sleeps in the basement so it shouldn't be a big deal. Appreciate the help guys.

I doubt 1 S5 will make a huge difference, they do run hot and loud.  It's just their nature.   But if you grow I'm not sure if furnace room is greatest of room's.

Depends on how well it's insulated  i guess.  But normally with gear you keep it far away from sources of heat.  But again since talking 1.. can get away with it most likely.

Guess it depend how much air the furnace room move. If its stale, it would be very bad for miners.

Just a handful of S4 is like having a couples of oven turned on 24/7 with their oven door opened.

Very true it would depend I'm just basing it off my furnace room.  (I have never ran miners in it).  But if his has bad isulation and get's hot... yes it is not good.

But hes also using only one miner so not thousands of watts.  A handful of S4's is a lot more watts then 1 S5.   So had to tell.  But my first choice would not be a furnace room either.

Ok so where would be the best place to put one. I live in S MN, so it gets pretty cold in the winter. Would a garage or shed with power and internet work?

We need to know about shed and garage.  For example if they are safe from the elements.

But honestly if just 1 S5 it won't matter to much and both should work as long as safe from elements.  Winter will really help you out.
3408  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Thinking about a Antminer s7 Group Buy and I host the Rigs on: December 17, 2015, 07:12:33 PM
It's good points. I will try one soon and if successful I will do again as a farm

I think you will have to prove you run a good farm.  Some farms are so bad they actually hurt miners as so hot.  So people are rightfully very picky where they go.

Do you currently have a farm? Or what do you have currently?
3409  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Avalon Avalon6 Setup [HD] on: December 17, 2015, 07:04:49 PM
Minersource, one of the biggest of all resellers screwed plenty of people. There were multiple problems with multiple other resellers of Bitmain equipment and problems with the transfer of warranties. There is significant additional risk placed on the end customer for very little benefit. And the fact that your signature advertises 3 companies, two of which don't exist and 1 which doesn't like resellers really doesn't add weight to your argument.

They were horrible to deal with. They decided to steal pictures of my SF100 review.  They used it on their site for a profit or gain.... which they never asked permission for.

I actually met the top "brass" i guess at a booth at a convention(while back).  I talked to them saying I wanted it pulled and asked how it even got up there.. it was very very hard they said they did not know how it got up there.  After I pushed they admitted they might get photo's off this forum....

They gave me a card and said they would give me a deal or pull it (don't remember exact it's been a long time).... sounded fair.  They never gave me anything and did not take down photo till they stopped selling item..  Needless to say I don't trust all re-sellers this is part of reason I link direct to companies.  There are some good re-sellers but some are not good at all.
3410  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New startup with 250k, what should I invest in? on: December 17, 2015, 06:56:21 PM
Depends on your electricity rate, if you already have a datacenter-like setup to place the miners in, etc. Maybe give us more details on your situation?

You can't buy knowledge. Spend a few dozen hours educating yourself before you proceed with your venture.

I'd sell my knowledge Tongue Consultants and specialists get paid for it all the time. Of course, this is a lot of money to entrust into some dude on the internet.

Trust me it never works out.  I have had 3-4 of these start ups that come to me though PM and ask about a start-up and want info.  Almost all it is not cash they have but cash they are asking if they had.

The first one I thought what do I have to lose? Anwser is time... so many questions and in the end no pay as it stay's in planning.   The other ones I have gauged seriousness and they just were not even up to par.

I suggest anyone thinking this is a great idea to advise... skip it unless they are paying up front.   And honestly it's better they research it on their on as they will learn so much more then giving certain answers.  Being a knowledgeable investor is important

Fair enough, back to replying to forum to these questions as time allow. I do have people that PM me often and ask me tons of question. I do reply and i don't mind too much because of my free time but yeah. I don't really get anything tangible out of it.

I do to I enjoy helping people.  I do lot's of posts on here to help with mining issues and I love tinkering so I have done 1 on 1 many times on help over the years. Teamveiwer is a great tool for someone who has never mined.

But helping someone like that vs someone who say's they are going to be a quarter of a million dollar company is huge difference.  You can try it once they will  want skype and you are talking about many hours in first day and following day's depend.

Of the around 4 I have talked to they just were not serious enough, it was more "what if I invest".  Only 1 did I really go a decent amount of time that was all wasted.  I suggest you try it once and you will come to same conclusion I'm betting.

Or you might ask for payment before talking to them, and would get something.  I just hated to ask for payment when I don't know if i can help with all aspects, so I didnt make payment up front.
3411  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Should I Start Mining Bitcoins on: December 17, 2015, 06:50:46 PM
WOW! 200$/ths? free electricity? damn why stop at 3000$!!!! theres really no downside here!

Downside is it could be a bunch of A1 miners.  Which are not really that efficient of miners.

OP ask what miner it is your getting.  But I'm betting a bunch of A1's.  Which if free ore cheap electricity is fine.  Just not good longterm for normal electricity.

is electricity is free, so efficiency will not matter

i would do it without thinking, basically free money, but i may find a bit fishy to be honest, i would check everything twice prior buying
I find this deal fishy too. I would suggest to use an Escrow when buying these $200/TH miners.

Free electricity is tricky as if included in rent chance are they do not mean for miners to use it.   And most places with it are limited on amount of electricity they have.

But OP said:
Then I will rent a building for $660 per month witch has free electricity.

Chances are the owner of building has a provision and if your mining 1/2 or all of rent in electricity.... i bet you get kicked out the following month.   It would have to be a big corporation to take a hit like that and hold up on free electricity.  Most landlords would not take a hit like that on electricity.
3412  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: NEW WANNABE MINER FROM INDIA , HELP NEEDED on: December 17, 2015, 06:45:49 PM
thats why i am seeking an expert advice if bitcoin will be best to start with or i should begin with litecoin, dogecoin etc .

i have certain concerns regarding which hardware to use as well .

consider that electricity is workable .... what other things should i take care of.

You are skipping so much.  Your wanting someone to do all the work, and you may or may not ever use it.  I promise spend 3-4 hours today researching and you will know sooo much more and be in a better investing position.

To start with mines that mine BTC  are sha, and do not mine litecoin, doge, etc those are scrypt.  So huge difference you need to know.

You could hire someone but your missing a lot of info that honestly will help you.  You also are not answering questions like electricity price.  Hard to help when no anwser back.
3413  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Newbie wanting to get into mining. Needs help! on: December 17, 2015, 06:41:27 PM
Let's say I got the AntMiner S3, How would one Pair that to a Miner program and attach that to a wallet? I don't know much about that.

HELP
https://www.antpool.com/support.htm

Okay, those instructions seems fairly understandable. Just to make sure I'm understanding this correctly; you put in what pools and workers on the S3's settings and it then mines there or you need to use something like GUI miner? Also, I'm not sure how to set my Bitcoin wallet to my miner

No just enter into configuration page on S3... and that is is.  No computer program like GUI miner or others.

It's very simple and easy.  Just log into S3 via ip, set it, and it should run.
3414  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Setting up new diff thread Dec 6 to Dec 20 picks closed. on: December 17, 2015, 06:40:29 PM
with that diff, the s7 is losing 1/10 of its haspower
well, to be fair... *everything* is losing a relative share of the aggregate hashpower, not just the S7s.

(Over 2 months)

No real need to complain, so far the BTC price has more than kept up with the difficulty raise. After the next diff increase in 1~ day, the difficulty will have raised by 50% for a 35%~ loss in BTC income.

However the value of BTC has literally doubled (from 220$ usd~ to 440$~ usd), so anyone who were planning to ROI their miners when calculated at 220$ made bank by now.

It was stable at 230 for the longest time.  I have to remind myself this when I look at that crazy difficulty coming.

And all the miners who mined during 230 and made profit... now are looking good.  To double your USD value is very big and hard to do in most investments.  So a huge upswing on your holdings.
3415  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 6 Vs Antminer S7, which one you will choose? on: December 17, 2015, 06:36:35 PM
What is avalon 6 nww price now in usd

seems around 4 btc, so $1700, but i guess you cna find at lower price if you buy it used on the market or on ebay

Before three months I can buy in local market for almost 300 usd here in china
Now I can find it 1500 usd Sad

I will think about other miners ...similar miners lab or yesminer

When price of BTC value goes up gear goes up to.  Difficulty can effect it to... which this one will hurt.

But expect miners to cost now more then 230 days.  BTC just is worth almost double of what it was for a decent amount of time.
3416  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to collect BTC ?? on: December 17, 2015, 05:45:01 AM
Please show proof of .40 centss in 5-10 minutes.  Most even "high paying" faucets don't pay this much.

It is very small payment.  Just is the way it is.

There are many faucets that pay upwards of 10-50 bits per claim, every 12-24h. Let's use 10 bits as an example. At the moment, $0.40 is 883 bits. That's 88.3 claims. It takes ~3s to load a page, 2s to find a captcha, and 10s to type it in and hit enter. That means you use 0.25 minutes for 10 bits. 883/10=88.3*0.25=~22 minutes. Factor in the ones that are above 10 bits and it's much, much faster.
Faucet paying 10-50 bits per claim?
Is there a faucet that pay much ?? It was very much at all, I ask faucets which one pays that much?
It was a very good recommendation

It is more then normal that is why I am asking for proof.  Do you have blockchain payment? Screenshot?

Even just site used?   I just think most earn far less then this faucets just don't pay well.

WeekendBitcoin is one example. My claim just now: "You have claimed 765 satoshi" but the average is much higher. I was getting the 0.001 BTC payout at least once a week randomly using it.

Well if you get one much higher take a screenshot or something.  I still say faucets are a waste of time.

Cents per hour's is not good pay.  Why anyone does it I cannot figure out, but people do use them.  So much better things you could do with time.
3417  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitfury: "16nm... sales to public start shortly" on: December 17, 2015, 05:35:57 AM
i really hope they think of the small guys also and make "for domestic use" miners that are affordable, efficient electricity wise and can hash at a level that can give us an interesting ROI given how we will be going into exahashes soon and the difficulty level will be very high also.

It will not be "small guys" most likely.  If your a company making miners most likely is who they would sell to, the question is what MOQ dogie mentioned is required.

It's really early to tell what will happen. I'm not sure hat will happen if they keep pumping these out, difficulty is going crazy is all we know 100 percent.
3418  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Are we all going to power consumption hell? on: December 17, 2015, 05:30:51 AM
So yea... OMG we use a lot of energy for this funny math. Can I repent somewhere?

Some places have extra that is not being used... so you might be doing the power company a favor.  All depends on where you live.

Some commercial on here you see setting up close to electricity centers with extra (one was hydro).  It works out good for all.
3419  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I decide to buy miners from this website on: December 17, 2015, 05:28:27 AM
Hello everyone
I think you didnt understand my question
Did any one buy from them ?
That was all ....

No one bought .... everyone said scam
No one lost money with them ....

One question .... please put in your mind
If there price for s7 is 2000 usd then no one will tell me that they are scam
Scam or not scam not depend the price
Put in your mind also ...scammer is not foolish people .... they can put real price and cheat more high

Again my question was very clear .....

Good luck

No one has bought from them.  That will not change as it has all the makings of a scam site, we have seen many like it on the forum sadly.

If you want to ignore everyone, and use that you can't find someone who ordered there ... go for it.  We obviously were wasting time trying to help.  You act kinda rude when everyone was trying to help save you from a good chance of losing BTC.
3420  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Newbie wanting to get into mining. Needs help! on: December 17, 2015, 05:25:51 AM
My bad, It's actually 10 cents and hour.

I would double check you really need your last electricity bill.  Make sure to add fee's and taxes in it, if you don't your not getting it all.

But 10 is better then 12.  It is ok not great but not horrible.  Most likely you will need to master using gear and selling to ROI.
