How long would it take to master a course in Blockchain development and is it a good option for someone who choose to take up a career in tech?
Don't expect this to be less demanding by the way, it will 'demand' so much from you in terms of putting in work, time and effort to acquire the expected result, which is knowledge, so what I mean is that it's still going to be stressful for you, just like your job. Then again, being successful in garnering the knowledge or mastering in blockchain development for you isn't guaranteed, you could maybe fail to master in it, thus how can you quit a job that's guaranteed to pay you every month or week as the case may be, to settle for something you're not so sure of that will work. It's much better to stick to your job and try this, if it's turning out successful, you can then think of constructing a resignation letter, but for now it's a no for me, blockchain development, Bitcoin isn't a bed of roses, or an easy career to "get rich quick" like some people think.
3402  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Musk the boss behind SHIB? on: October 12, 2021, 03:39:49 AM
Is Musk the boss behind SHIB?
Is there an advantage in the future? I am optimistic that SHIB's performance is as good as DOGE  Smiley
Can someone explain, thank you Kiss
Shib is starting to get more and more popular, and lately when a coin starts to pump, catching the eyes of investors, people usually attribute that to Elon Musk's influence, endorsement or tweet, afaik, I don't think I've heard anything about shib from Elon, neither do I think he is the one controlling shib. Talking about shib in the long run, that I'm not so sure of, you can't really trust a coin like that to be a long term project, it could prolly be a pump and dump coin that will perform well in the short term, and that could be that, as the dump is what will follow; btw I could still be wrong so we'll have to wait and see.
3403  Other / Meta / Re: Maximum posts allowed per day on: October 10, 2021, 04:34:56 PM
If there are no limits, some limit should be introduced. It will help to reduce the spam on the forum. Also, the workload on moderators will be reduced as they have less number of spam posts to look after.
It wouldn't actually reduce spam posts on the forum, and even if you think it will, since the forum is basically for discussing Bitcoin and other interesting topics, these discussions should never be impeded/hampered in a bid to quell spam, imagine good users having to wait for another day to continue an interesting discussion cause they have reached their posting limit for the day, that would be totally annoying. Let's leave spam posts to be reported and deleted, and allow free flowing discussions to continue without any hassle.
3404  Economy / Reputation / Re: I need tips on how to Build my reputation. I'm a Newbie on: October 10, 2021, 04:08:27 PM
Looking for a good reputation from the outset isn't really exactly the right way to go, and there are no 'tips' per se as regards that; you just have to be yourself and do what you're expected to do on the forum which is to: discuss about Bitcoin and other things, not to spam or scam and to contribute generally to the forum. Thus if along that line you start rendering one service or the other on the forum, getting deals completed smoothly and without any hassle, and generally contributing in such a way that other users think you to be trustworthy, then they will rate you positively. But if you make it look like reputation is basically what you want to get first, then it begins to look sketchy cause there have been users who built reputation early on in their forum days only to scam people (mostly lenders) and made away with their money.
3405  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: LONG TERM INVESTMENT REMAINS THE BEST on: October 10, 2021, 03:38:42 PM
2; HODL, HODL HODL no matter what.
3; LONG TERM INVESTMENT PAYS OFF.
What if the coins in your wallet are short term projects like most altcoins are, would you hold short term coins for the long period? It'll surely be counterproductive If you do so, as chances are you'll not make any ROI cause the coins could prolly dump when you're yet to sell and you'll accrue losses from your own end, long term investment can only be said to be productive when you are actually hodling a long term project/coin like Bitcoin.
3406  Other / Meta / Re: [TOP-200] The most generous users giving merits on: October 10, 2021, 02:29:11 PM
To give a simple example, If a Merit source has an allocated quota of say 300 monthly sMerits, and does not send any within the month, he’ll still have 300 sMerit in the bag a month later (and not 600). They don’t exactly decay, just not stock up above the allocated threshold.
Hello DdmrDdmr, I had actually seen borovichok's posts earlier and I have been waiting for a response to it that will help me understand how MS's source merits works, but I don't think I still quite understand it fully, are you saying that MS's source merits do not decay, and they get exactly the amount they spent the previous month to sum it up to their allocated quota, like for example, if a merit source has a monthly quota of 300 source merits allocated to him, and he spends 200 of it, in a month later, does that merit source get exactly another 200 source merits to sum up with the 100 unspent to make it up to the allocated amount of 300. I don't know if I made myself clear, am I correct?
3407  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: October 10, 2021, 07:43:51 AM
Brentford are one of the dangerous teams this season as they got a point from Liverpool also which are at the 2nd place now. I still think that Chelsea will win but it might be by only one goal.
Brentford are the surprise package for the EPL this season, they are playing really well and it's very exciting to watch them play, and from their games they have played thus far, we know they have the ability to go toe to toe with the big teams, so they very well could give Chelsea a run for their money. Most of Chelsea's players will be busy with the international break before they return to Stamford bridge, but I'm pretty sure Brentford wouldn't have many players representing their national team, so the blues could have players returning tired, jetlagged and worse even with injuries, thus it could be an advantage for Brentford. Chelsea are expected to win, but who knows, maybe Brentford can steal a point or three Wink.
3408  Other / Meta / Re: [TOP-200] The most generous users giving merits on: October 09, 2021, 11:26:42 PM
but it becomes kind of awkward when in terms of generosity, this guys are counted among the generous ones when actually, what they've been generous with was given to them to give out to others, sure they couldn't have held it back, so I wonder why they are being counted as being generous when they are actually doing their job..
I know merit sources are being given merits to circulate around the forum, but that doesn't mean they should not be called "generous merit givers" if they actually are, if we take the meaning of generous in this context to be: "willing to give", thus this merit sources that make/top the list of generous merit givers can be said to be MS that set their standards to be more accomodating to other forum users and hence they give more merits than others (that does not in anyway imply they lower their standard), they can also be said to be MS that make out time out of their busy schedule to give out merits on the forum, or they can also be said to be users who are willing to rummage around quite a lot of shitposts on the forum to give out merits to good posts, etc, etc, that definitely makes them generous, imo, it doesn't matter how they get the merits, they could get it that same way and sit back, relax, and distribute it how they like, but for the ones who top this list, they are definitely putting in efforts that makes them generous, or put in another way, more generous than others.

Having said that, I'd actually not call merit source duties as their/a job, I think it's much better to say it's their own contributions to the forum. Grin
3409  Other / Meta / Re: How can I change my Name? on: October 09, 2021, 10:55:10 PM
It is no problem that I leave marks, I just found an ideal name Smiley
If you think you've discovered a name that's more ideal than your current username, just stop posting in this one, and create a new account with the said username, I'd not advice you waste your time sending a pm to the admins, I know a few users have changed their names on the forum, but they were not newbies (by rank) and they definitely weren't new to the forum. You actually have nothing to lose if you start with a new account, you have no merits yet, and afaik, you've not garnered any good reputation on this account, so no one will actually notice if you drop it.
3410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if all the money in the world entered the cryptocurrency market? on: October 09, 2021, 09:04:39 PM
I think we are at the beginning of great changes in the world where bitcoin and the crypto market are playing an important role.
I second that, the opportunity to be your own bank which the Bitcoin network affords its users is somewhat underrated, I mean, it's the real definition of freedom and control of assets, and on top of that the network is a hedge against inflation/devaluation, in my opinion every individual should enjoy such pros, thus this would continue to allure more and more individuals to the network, as well as institutions that will most prolly take the price to great heights, it could even be over $1,000,000 like the OP suggests, there are no boundaries/limits for the Bitcoin network.
3411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ATM stolen in a liquior store on: October 09, 2021, 08:22:53 PM
The government are very much renowned for directing accusatory statements at Bitcoin, thus I'd not be surprised if they jump on this one, they could go about dissuading people about Bitcoin as a result of this, but it's no news that Fiat ATM's can and have been stolen in the past, so they are all the same thing and type of theft. But notwithstanding, for people who dislike Bitcoin like the government, the headline on the news: "Bitcoin ATM stolen", is enough delight for them and they could use it to start another propaganda against the coin and why people should not use it.
3412  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: October 09, 2021, 07:29:09 PM
Strong players will not go to Newcastle even if they are offered a lot of money. It takes a couple of seasons and a good game to gain a foothold among at least the first 5-6 teams in order to motivate strong players to move to the team. This may take several years.
I second that, the overhaul of the team will definitely take time, and all those expecting big players to start flooding to Newcastle will have to wait awhile before that becomes a possibility, just like with Manchester City, it took quite a few seasons before they could put together a formidable and winning team, there was a lot of wrong buys, they wasted so much money on many players, but it was all just for a better future and now they can attract the best players to their team.

That would prolly be the case with Newcastle and I do hope they can be successful sometime in the coming years, but their fans will have to wait as that success wouldn't definitely not come overnight, for now Newcastle would gradually start buying quality players, then after awhile they can they start attracting top quality/world class, but definitely something big is going to happen in Newcastle in years to come.
3413  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most performing altcoin for October on: October 09, 2021, 04:08:54 PM
This month of October has started on a very remarkable note for the entire cryptocurrency market with ethereum almost recovering back to $4500 and Bitcoin seating above $51k price which is a good sign that October is going to be a remarkable month in the prices of most crypto coins, I will like to see your predictions on altcoins market for October which altcoin do you have faith in and what are the indices that will make that happen?
I know October somewhat started on a good note when looking at the market, but it doesn't necessarily mean that the entire month would be great, coins could be appreciating at the moment, but later start depreciating, thus what I'm saying is, you should not take this to be a sign that the entire month would favor investors and then go ahead and start investing without doing a sufficient research into the project or forgetting not to invest more than you can afford to lose. The thing is, the only altcoin I actually believe in is ethereum cause of the massive growth and sustenance of their ecosystem, and one thing to note is that, despite the believe you have in a project, always do a thorough research before making any investments whatsoever.
3414  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is "No one knows anything" a paradox in investing? on: October 08, 2021, 05:14:49 PM
Hello everyone, as someone who started investing in crypto this year with no prior experience in any sort of investing and with very little knowledge on economics and makets,
The thing is, garnering knowledge about an investment you want to venture into is more important than actually putting money into it, if you do not have knowledge, prior experience and the rest, then what you should do is to get them before actually investing outrightly, if you invest first and then seek knowledge, you could prolly lose your funds before you gain the sufficient knowledge you desire and seek.
I'm wondering how can somebody learn more ("do your own research") and invest better while also keeping in mind that no one actually knows anything.
There are actually people that do, I'm guessing you intend saying there are actually no 'experts' that can be correct all of the time, well yes, but you must try to learn from qualified individuals without actually just sightlessly following their instructions, after your learn from others, you must then do your own research, and one thing to note is that, as you learn from others make sure you're able to identify what looks like a scam, an easy one is "anything that looks too good to be true, is most prolly a scam", then again, always keep your private keys and seed phrase to just yourself, never give them to anyone for any reason, not even your tutor.
3415  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who else has your passphrase on: October 08, 2021, 04:23:57 PM
This question has been asked and subsequently discussed a couple of times already on the forum, and this thread may not get the number of responses you desire, thus if you really want to understand the measures a lot of forum users have and will most likely put in place as regards this, then see this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5284824.msg55464956#msg55464956
Imagine after gathering all the coins you can afford to gather and no one can access your wallet should in case something terrible occurs will the investment still worth all the time and effort devoted to acquire them?
In my opinion, Bitcoin must not be used as an inheritance, neither must it be passed down, I'm not saying it's a bad idea for your loved ones to get your funds if you suddenly die, but most people have already kept quite a lot of things (in their will for example) for their loved ones to claim when they are gone, thus if they try to protect their Bitcoin funds as a result of the nature of the network, and they not being sure how their loved one would prolly handle their private info if they in any way give it to them, then if they die suddenly, I don't think they made a bad choice.
3416  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UEFA Nations League 2020/2021 Discussion Thread on: October 08, 2021, 03:57:00 PM
I can't wait to see the final of the nations league between spain and france of course it will be an ideal and quite balanced final.
It going to be a really pulsating encounter, I'll be rooting for Spain and I believe they will win, I really admire the current Spanish national team and I have to say Luiz Enrique is doing a really great job. The thing is they do not have a star-studded team like France and that could play to their advantage, the French national team is a collection of stars and big egos and though it makes them a lethal force to reckon with, but it can also be to their disadvantage as they may struggle to unite as a team sometimes. I expect Spain to play 'collectively' like they did against Italy and that could lead them to victory against the world champions.
3417  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: October 08, 2021, 03:37:43 PM
I have been repeating Ole needs to go but for no reason the Manchester United board are standing behind Ole. He loses/draws matches that we expect him to win comfortable. He is trouble for Manchester United. He needs to leave
I know Solskjaer isn't having a great season thus far, but in my opinion, it's still pretty early to fire him, not that I believe OGS to be the right man for the United job, but the board would obviously feel they should give him more time, prolly access his performances till the January transfer window to see if it's reinforcement of players they need, or a change of manager. Manchester United have been changing managers quite frequently since Sir Alex left the team, so that could be another reason why the United board is somewhat reluctant to just get rid of OGS, they prolly want to give him time and see if he can build a winning team. Having said that, what I'm pretty sure is that he is going to be fired if United do not win any major trophy this season.
3418  Economy / Economics / Re: Is budgeting still effective in tackling the need to constantly withdraw money? on: October 07, 2021, 03:22:29 PM
Needs and wants/problems to solve with money never stop arising, how do you handle your withdrawal? Be sincere, considering that local currency is becoming less of value as the cost of things are constantly rising now, so much that the cost price today is not the cost price tomorrow. Is a budget still effective in your opinion?
The thing is that people who hold Bitcoin must accept the fact that they must have to convert their crypto to fiat every now and then to take care of their basic needs, except if such person prolly has a job in real life that pays in Fiat, and alongside that, also renders one service or the other that pays him in Btc, then he could live on the salary he earns through fiat, and keep accumulating Bitcoin without having to sell too much of it on a regular basis.

Having said that, for people who earn only in Bitcoin, then there is actually no way to avoid selling your stash no matter how hard you try, cause Bitcoin is not yet mainstream, so you'll have to convert somewhat frequently to pay bills and buy basic things. But then, what's most important in both situations is to be shrewd in your spending, and maybe if you're not earning so much, it's much better to cut down on it outrightly, what brings so many people down financially is spending far more than they earn, you'll run cashless and into debt sooner rather than later.
3419  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: My Altcoin journey with small investment on: October 07, 2021, 02:54:45 PM
The thing about crypto investment I have come to understand in my few years of being in this space is that there is a large amount of patience required for anyone to actually earn good profit, if you only looking for short-term gains it may not have a good outcome,
You're not wrong, being patient and not panicking is very important in the network, I have seen people selling their stash out of fear only due to a correction period, which is pretty bad to say the least. But what users should know is that being patient sometimes depends on the coins in your possession, there are projects/coins that are actually short term projects that can only pump temporarily, and when they dump, it's over for the coin, the best thing to do with such coins is to sell when you have the opportunity to take ROI, if you decide to be patient and hold on to it for too long, you could be left with only losses. But if it's a great coin like Bitcoin, Ethereum you're hodling, then it's makes so much sense to patiently hold, because they are long term projects.
Now even if the coins/tokens look too legit to invest in I will still have to do some research so I can decide when to exit and how much profit I have in mind.
That's exactly the right thing to do for a crypto investor, many people have lost their funds just cause they invested when someone told them to, or they just sightlessly followed the trades and instructions of others, every investor or trader should always meticulously do their own research and come up with their own conclusions on the coins they want to channel some of their money into.
3420  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buyback tax on: October 07, 2021, 02:33:17 PM
I have never heard about a project with membership fees/tax before, neither have I previously heard about this coin or project, why do new members have to pay any fee in the first place? And who exactly are they paying the membership fees to? Is this project a centralized one? Imo, it's not a good idea to be interested in projects like this cause of one false promise or the other, that's because in the long run it would more often than not turn out to be a scam and you'll lose your funds. That's just my two cents by the way.
