Another hyperbolic spec thread on the alleged future price of BTC while using buttshares as the selling and leading point. Much props for the smart incorporation, once again. Grin Don't deny it!
3422  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 14, 2015, 03:17:18 AM
The interesting thing in this whole apparent mini-downtrend, perhaps, is where the LTC&BTC/USD mark will be. The BTC and LTC price in USD will both be attractive buys if we go any deeper, esp if they flash downward to buying pleasurable spots moreso than now.

Didn't an email go out saying something about all of the related products (neptunes, shelves, electrical stuff, etc) potentially going for north of 30 BTC? Anyways, suppose we'll have to be happy with what we can get out of this fire sale. I guess the next question is, what stage through the attempted sales process are we at this point?
3424  Economy / Speculation / Re: $350 by Sunday on: March 14, 2015, 01:54:52 AM
I pinky swear.

As of Friday evening we are heading the other way, down, 280s, 270s it appears in trend...  sure would love to see $350 though if there was a reason/news but appears nada.

Looks like some non-weak hands have been spooked and are selling to try and get a few more shillings in their back pocket.

Well, this situation seems to be spiraling out of control and appears to be much more dire than I originally thought I read it to be. I hope justice is served to the parties in the right and if there's any bad actors, that they have to pay restitution.

Rand Speaking at Bowie State University Re: criminal justice reform Today
RAND PAUL TO SPEAK AT HISTORICALLY BLACK UNIVERSITY IN BOWIE, MARYLAND
Quote
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) will speak on Friday afternoon to historically black Bowie State University about his criminal justice reform efforts.

“It is important for our party to show up at venues which in the past might not have been a priority,” Paul told Breitbart News about the forthcoming speech. “I look forward to being at Bowie State University tomorrow. Showing up is only part of the solution, we must also embrace policies which are fair and just. I will be discussing the importance of reforming the criminal justice system, and highlighting numerous pieces of legislation which I have introduced on this subject.”

Paul, a likely 2016 GOP presidential candidate, has taken extraordinary efforts to reach out to voting blocs that have traditionally voted for Democrats—including the black community—by visiting places including Ferguson, Missouri, and Detroit, Michigan.

Paul’s plan for reviving Detroit’s economy—which has faltered under the weight of big government in the city and in the state—is to create a “stimulus” with what he calls “economic freedom zones,” places where citizens wouldn’t have to send much taxes if any at all to Washington.

“Economic freedom zones will, over a 10-year period, if my bill were to pass, leave over $1.3 billion in Detroit,” Paul said in a speech to the Detroit Economic Club in December 2013 while rolling out his legislation. “So for those who say, ‘Oh, it won’t work, it won’t be enough money,’ we’ve calculated it: $1.3 billion stimulus, not from Houston, not from Atlanta, from you. It’s your money. We’re not going to take it to Washington, we’ll leave it with you. How could anybody be opposed to this?”

On criminal justice reform, Paul has introduced several major pieces of legislation—most notably the REDEEM Act, which he rolled out with Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ).

Well, he's back on his mission of building a bigger tent in the GOP by talking about and pushing for more liberty to more demos outside the elderly white crowd. I really think he sets himself apart from the entire GOP primary field by pushing the economic freedom zones concept but the last thing that democrats want is to allow freer market principles to show up their failed big government policies and put a nail in their coffin for the whole country and perhaps the world, to see.

Sens. Rand Paul and Cory Booker to introduce bill legalizing medical marijuana

Sens. Rand Paul, Cory Booker and Kirsten Gillibrand will introduce on Tuesday a Senate bill that would legalize medical marijuana under federal law, another possible step towards relaxation of once strict policies toward the drug.

The Kentucky Republican and his New Jersey and New York Democratic colleagues will propose legislation that allows states that have passed medical marijuana laws to enact those programs without operating illegally under federal law. That bill would also allow veterans in states with medical marijuana programs to receive care from the government, according to guidance issued by their offices.

The legislation was lauded by marijuana legal reform advocates.

“Several marijuana policy reform bills have been introduced in the House of Representatives. The introduction of this legislation in the Senate demonstrates just how seriously this issue is being taken on Capitol Hill,” said Dan Riffle of the Marijuana Policy Project, which first informed reporters of the legislation.

Rand Paul pushes repeal of Obama tax law despised by Americans living abroad

Rand Paul, the Kentucky senator and 2016 Republican presidential hopeful, is leading an effort to repeal a tax law prized by President Obama but despised by millions of Americas who live and work outside the United States.

Mr. Paul formally introduced legislation this month in the Senate to reverse the main requirements of the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, saying the law has wrongly deprived American ex-patriots of access to banking services, violated their privacy and forced many to renounce their citizenship.

“Not only is FATCA dangerous with respect to the privacy protections owed to every American — home or abroad — it has threatened the livelihood of millions of Americans working or living overseas,” Mr. Paul said.
...
The law was passed by a Democratic Congress and signed by Mr. Obama in 2010 with the stated goal of preventing Americans living overseas from cheating on their taxes. But the law has had far-reaching consequences beyond that.

It requires foreign banks to monitor and report to the Internal Revenue Service on the banking of Americans residing overseas or risk severe punishment.

Mr. Paul said the reporting requirements violate the privacy guaranteed by the Constitution and added a costly burden on banks, many of whom have chosen to stop serving overseas Americans rather than comply.

“As a result, the private data of American accounts is forfeited, and foreign banks have approached the onus of this law by shutting their doors to U.S. citizens,” Mr. Paul said.

If Americans like Mr. Johnson cling to their U.S. citizenship, they face double taxation by the U.S. and foreign governments and huge financial penalties because, they say, the Obama law rests on the assumption that all Americans living and working abroad are tax cheats — and so are automatically treated as guilty until they can prove innocence.
...
Whether the bill advances or not, it gives Mr. Paul a forum to raise some of his favorite issues — tax fairness, privacy and government overreach — as he gears up his 2016 presidential bid.

Another former Cruz staffer hired by Rand

Ted Cruz’s stable of political operatives continues to be a fertile place for Rand Paul to pluck talent.

Just a few months after Mr. Paul, the junior senator from Kentucky, hired away the digital strategist who was a major asset in building the national profile of Mr. Cruz, the junior senator from Texas, Mr. Paul has brought on another former Cruz tactician, Rachel Kania.

The move is the latest to highlight the rivalry between the senators, who are both considering a bid for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016.

Ms. Kania was Mr. Cruz’s statewide field director during his come-from-behind 2012 Senate campaign. Since she helped him get elected, she has led her own consulting firm. She will now run Mr. Paul’s office in Austin, Tex., about three hours from Mr. Cruz’s home in Houston. Mr. Paul grew up in Texas, but he lives in Bowling Green, Ky.

In its statement announcing Ms. Kania’s hire, Mr. Paul’s political committee heralded her connections to the conservative base, noting that before Mr. Cruz hired her in 2012, his campaign “had little to no field operations running and no clear path to a grass-roots victory.”

She will join Vincent Harris, who was the top digital guru for Mr. Cruz before he decided late last year to join Mr. Paul’s operation. Mr. Harris will also be based in Austin.

Pretty sure he had two up and running and then wanted to land another 5 for a total of 7. So, obviously he's got 4 up and running and has continued to pay dividends. I wonder how this doubling of the ATMs will affect the div per share and monthly return rate going forward?
3431  Other / Politics & Society / 'Assault' Rifle Ammo Ban Fails in USA on: March 14, 2015, 12:11:04 AM
How Sens. Chuck Grassley, Rand Paul, and 80,000 Other Americans Clobbered an Ammo Ban

At the end of February, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms issued a lengthy epistle on "determining whether certain projectiles are 'primarily intended for sporting purposes.'" Anyone who read the 17-page memo would learn that the ATF was considering a ban on M855 ball ammunition, and that citizens had until March 16 to comment.
...
Outside the conservative media, coverage of the panic came in two flavors. The first: Color stories about people snapping up ammo. The second: Eye-rolling about the Republicans telling people to fight the ATF rule. The Daily Beast, for example, used a PAC message about the rule from Kentucky Senator Rand Paul as a case study in how he seized on conservative panics to build his e-mail list.

This wasn't wrong, exactly. Paul's the-gun-grabbers-are-coming message asked conservatives to "chip in" and sign a petition, after sharing some reasons to be worried. "Like 'Operation Choke Point'—which targets firearms and ammunition dealers with harassment because the Administration finds them 'objectionable'—the BATF's ammo ban is a backdoor route to imposing President Obama's gun control," wrote Paul.
...
Indeed, and they were only getting stronger. On May 9, the day before the surrender, Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley marshaled all but one of his Republican colleagues for a statement against the rule. (Only Illinois's Mark Kirk sat it out.)
...
Paul's operation, which had been so recently mocked for lobbying against the rule, was just as happy. "It is why you mobilize people," said Doug Stafford, a spokesman for Paul. "People taking action absolutely can have an impact, as this clearly showed. Gun owners and second amendment advocates have won two major battles, one in Congress and now in the administration, through their advocacy."
...

This must really burn the owner of this media outlet since being the former Mayor of NYC, has been using lots of his billionare money to lobby for gun control all over the country. Sure hope Rand keeps sopping up all the gun owner support going into the next primary election in the GOP.

Both parties over the years have become more and more the same.

There is only 1 party in the USA and we are not invited. It is a two-headed dragon that exists to divide and concur. At its roots it is a Corptocracy. It is for the corporation by the corporation. We are nothing but meat suits used by them to suck wealth and life force from us.
So true, which is why I participate as a donor and party delegate in the GOP to create a larger shareholder faction in the GOP for libertarian republicans between ideas and candidates. However, up til now there hasn't been much of an anti-establishment faction in the democratic party that even stands out. So, hopefully these new revelations about Hillary start to get one started over there. Progressives on that side need to start calling their people out when they do the corporate bidding not circle the wagons around the likes of Hillary as she caters to the military and wall st interests over everything else. Typically what they've done is just dig in their heels around 'their' guy because the nasty people on the other side are attacking. This division entraps each side in the false two party dichotomy by rallying around their establishment people because they're being demeaned by those bad establishment types on the other side and in the media. So, most of the poor slobs on both side are falling victim to supporting the status quo of the one party system by not cleaning out their own house before they bitch about the other side's.

I'm all in favor of true market capitalism remaining for all time as it is what raises the standard of living for the most amount of people. However, what we have today is crony capitalism or fascism where big business runs big government like a revolving door by using the lobbyists to buy off the politicians while their lawyers right the legislation that their newly bought pols shove down our throats. Regulations, for example, have to start from somewhere and most of the time especially in modern times come from government legislation that created a bigger problem in a certain sphere and then the biggest interests jump in to make sure the upcoming changes benefit them first and foremost.

Rand Paul's Austin Office Set to Open Monday

U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., is preparing to open the Austin outpost of his likely 2016 presidential campaign, a move that is expected to come Monday, according to sources familiar with the plan.

The office will be housed in Capital Factory, the startup incubator in downtown Austin, one of the sources said.

Paul will be in Texas' capital city Sunday for an interview with Texas Tribune CEO and Editor-in-Chief Evan Smith as part of the South by Southwest festival. Paul is also slated to attend other public events this weekend in the city.

I think this is the perfect tact to take to show most republicans who have religious tendencies that the drug war isn't what they've been led to believe all this time. Also, this Rep is a libertarian republican who's likely socially conservative but not the older breed of religious conservatives that have sought to legislate morality which has been all to common in the republican party. There's a nice brewing slate of libertarian republicans that have been elected in TX and around the country and this is what is helping change the current slant of the GOP as a whole.

I don't see a link in the OP to show how the thesis point was made but I would assume in lieu of one, it only makes sense that the dumb are the boobs that do meaningless things on social media like posting pics of their animals and commenting on them back and forth with their friends and family. Also, they are the ones that are oblivious to the status quo of deteriorating personal and economic liberty and so are not a threat to it. The ''catch it all and store it all'' surveillance mentality is meant to toss the dragnet far and wide to scoop up all the info and key in on certain segments of topics and mentalities that are potentially subversive to the status quo.

Now that one is a quote of the week
Right up their with the Greece politician that said let ISIS in if you don't bail us out ^^

The more people turn against them, the more these morons show their true colours, the UK elections are going to be pretty interesting and funny for me Tongue
I'm actually this dirtbag came out in such a crazy way on this. Generally, most conservative republicans haven't liked this guy in past times cause him and his buddy Senator McCain were the ones pushing for arming the Syrian 'rebels' and using the US Air Force against Assad and for the newly minted ISIS, as well as being the ones that called the likes of Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and Mike Lee (most conservative Senators): Whacko Birds. So, conservatives obviously took sides and then Graham and McCain were on the outs even tho they had plenty of support from the establishment and neoconservative wing of the party. But, as the ISIS situation has been getting all the attention yet were nourished early on by the meddling US foreign policy and the likes of Graham and co, the war spirit was being rekindled in the US and specifically w/i the GOP, which wouldn't be good for Rand if he runs for Prez. Yet, this blowhard coming out like this with such a revelation in regards to dictating excessive military spending definitely gave great ammo to the foreign policy and fiscal realists in the party. And because Graham is a neocon that is always in favor of starting crap abroad and then offering ground troops and military intervention as the default option thereafter, this extreme comment hopefully will rub off in the minds of republicans as the cousin mindset of foreign interventionism as well and dampen its appeal.
3438  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-03-13] Video Fox News: JPMorgan’s Blythe Masters bets on bitcoin on: March 13, 2015, 10:00:22 PM
The coverage gets positive in venues that bankers and their market analysts watch thus signaling to those people that this particular currency/commodity/payment system is legit to begin to dabble in. Fox Biz is such a venue that market players/institutionalists watch, while more of the retail investors watch CNBC where Parent Co GE uses this place to collect funds from companies and hedge funds to sell bags to the stooges as the bigger players are exiting, in many instances. While this interview/news falls under the 'business' topic, go figure that Fox would not be showing such an interview by a prominent person on the main station that has the most viewers in the US at any on time since putting this concept on the minds of the regular watchers isn't part of the plan early on. What is part of the plan for the regular Fox channel is pushing propaganda 24/7 and ginning up the war machine on the minds of the average republican viewer.

Perhaps, this topic should be moved (or started again) to the securities subforum as typically that's one of the areas coin holders go to when thinking of investing coinage. In this particular venture, the startup costs seem extremely modest tho which is a positive as most people have become very choosy and ultra conservative w/ parting w/ their coins because of past bad actors. You'll probably need to get this listed on some exchange and provide some logistical financial layout (however small) or prospectus rather than just a general outline of the concept. I just know of all the other models and pitches that I've seen.

Ever since I started researching and watching random docs on the DPRK, I long felt sorry for most of those people. Those lucky to have made it into China and then helped over to Thailand to turn themselves in at the SK embassy had faced a long nerve wracking and perilous journey through foreign lands and usually away from their families. In the totality of the defector exodus, there have been so many that had been repatriated to the DPRK from China and then faced w/ grueling and torturous consequences back in the fatherland. Not to mention, the loss in social status for family members of defectors. So in the end, there's different outcomes for all those that outsiders attempt to help and thus the helpers have to keep in mind that they'll inevitably and unfortunately be sending some to the gulags just by sheer default. Undecided
