3423  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mining faucet on: February 02, 2016, 07:14:35 AM
There have been several discussions about how, in order for Bitcoin to have a stable economic foundation and continue to grow, we must get bitcoins into as many people's hands as possible.  Instead of putting pressure on those who have already saved up large quantities of bitcoins to find ways to spend / distribute them for the "greater good", I think it makes more sense to try to direct newly minted currency toward new users.

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in the idea of a "charity" mining pool, where the proceeds would be distributed to new users just like the Bitcoin Faucet does, except in larger quantities (perhaps 1 BTC / person?).  If the mining faucet runs dry, payout requests would go to a waiting list.  Even if the miners weren't earning any profits from this directly, over time it should start to drive up the value of their savings by increasing demand for bitcoins.

The substantial payouts would probably make this more of a target for abuse than the existing Faucet... what security measures would you recommend beyond the Google account verification that the Faucet uses?

Giving away 1 BTC per person?Huh? What, are you King of Brunei?

can not understand why people sell coins so cheap - 0.00064?

My best guess these re still Cryptsy remnants. Dont forget about 20k coins got withdrawn from there and most of it have already been sold. Still, this should end very soon.
3425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: FLY coin v1.78 RELEASED *NEW WALLET* for Flycoin on 1/10/2016!! New thread. on: February 01, 2016, 07:24:35 PM
I am still having issues and am not able to open my wallet

I have tried
  • -salvagewallet
  • -repairwallet
  • -checkwallet
  • -zapwallettxes=1

I am unable to get my privkey as I cant't open the wallet with my wallet.dat that contains my address which holds the funds.

I have also thrown up a linux version on a spare server I have, and imported my wallet.dat but the same thing happens, it goes through the loading blockchain, checking address etc etc and then just dies.

Is it time to give up on FLY or has someone else got any ideas ?

My wallet.dat is not corrupted as this has happened to a few of us at the same time after the update, I guess the ones that are affected are those that DID NOT dump a privkey from a working wallet

Idea's people Smiley

Cheers
Crunck

EDIT
I have rolled back and installed 1.6.1 and I get this:

I have had the same issue some days ago and i was able to fix it, may it works for you as well. So what i did was.
I have put my FlyCoin-qt.exe in my FLY roaming folder. (<- important)
Than i've created a shortcut from my FlyCoin-qt and put in on my desktop.
Rightclick on the shortcut -> properties -> add  -zapwallettxes=1
It will look like \appdata\roaming\FlyCoin\FlyCoin-qt.exe -zapwallettxes=1
Delete everything in your roaming folder, except your wallet.dat and Flycoin-qt.exe
Run the shortcut on your desktop.
Hope it helps.

This worked for me .... Many Thanks

So the only thing different I did here from the rest of the stuff I tried was moving the .exe into the roaming folder.

Cheers

3428  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The real disastor that could happen (forking Bitcoin)... on: February 01, 2016, 05:46:42 PM
If we actually end up with a forked blockchain then we will have "two Bitcoins" (or more depending upon the software being used).

What will this do?

For a start I predict it will cause all exchanges to "stop trading" (as they will not want to risk fiat losses in case they have ended up on the wrong fork).

Once the exchanges have stopped then the miners can no longer sell their BTC block rewards so that means within a very short time there will be a serious problem in the mining area.

The amount of electricity that miners are paying for is so large that they will most likely shut down their hashing operations if the exchanges have closed down which will reduce the difficulty (in two weeks).

After two weeks if the problem hasn't been worked out then everyone is basically going to walk away and the Bitcoin experiment will be declared a failure.

This is what we are facing (so you've got to wonder why Gavin wants to try and push for this).

Oh look, another BTC doom theorist. Maybe aliens come and steal Gavin and your wallet.

STOP SPREADING FUD!
3429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: February 01, 2016, 05:43:14 PM
Ups, a nice price dump. It seems Chinese New Year and exchange of crypto into Yuans has had a lot of infuence on Factom. Let s hope this is temporary.

Is this a Chinese coin? Why should it have anything to do with Chinese New Year? I thought it is Western coin.

Factoids(FCT) an American coin (token) created by the Factom company from Austin, TX. Just the main buying / selling of this coin in China.
It is therefore natural Chinese New Year effect on trading in this coin (token).

http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/factom/#markets

Statistics today (volume 24 hours):

Yuanbaohui (China) FCT/CNY   $ 181,496 = 62.61 %
Poloniex (US) FCT/BTC   $ 106,981 = 36.90 %
Bittrex (US) FCT/BTC $ 1,413   $ = 0.49 %

Total Factoids: 8753720 (today)

Well, Chinese New Year effects will cease by the end of this week and then we turn towards the next milestone.

The Factom project should only work in 1Q 2016, so we still have two months before the end 1Q 2016.
So do not expect anything soon, maybe wait until April.

Chinese New Year lasts 15 days, from February 8 to February 23, 2016.
http://www.chinahighlights.com/travelguide/festivals/spring-festival/chinese-zodiac-years-of-2011-to-2020.htm

Yes but the price was under pressure cause Chinese were cashing out to Yuan due to this event. Once it starts, I highly doubt they ll be sitting on the exchanges.

hi there
I have been in the bitcoin arena for about 6-7 months.
Started off wih faucets, investment websites and online bitcoin poker , then i bought a few bitcoins , tried the investment sites and the ones that promise a return of 100% with 24-48 hours.
Now i want to enter a new league one that makes serious money!
i have 5.45 bitcoins in my wallet to put to use.....
Can anyone give me suggestions what to do with them?
I found a site online that says that all the sites are safe but i just want to be sure before i put any money
the site was http://www.uniquebinary.com . they have a bitcoin section , i contacted them and they said as far as they know the sites that they have for cloud mining and investments are genuine , but then again how do you know, how do they know?

Can anyone point me in the proper direction, i want to increase by bitcoins at minimal risk, obviously when i invest i start off with a very small amount to check them out .

Serious money with 5.5 BTC? How do you expect to do that? The best you can get, under condition it s safe and legit, is about 2% a month. So that s just above 1 BTC per year in profits. Anything over that must be a big time scam. You ve gotta spend more money to make more money.

3433  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitcoin Cloud Mining with HashFlare on: February 01, 2016, 07:46:11 AM
Hi guys,

I'm a newbie into bitcoin mining, but yesterday I thought that was a good idea to invest into cloud mining.
I bought 1 TH/s from HashFlare for 330$. Today I saw the payment history looking like this :

Entry   Time   Amount (BTC)   Balance (BTC)
SHA-256 payout   31.01.16 00:14   0.0043489   0.0043489
SHA-256 maintenance fee   31.01.16 00:14   0.00262628   0.00172262

After 1 day of mining I receive 0.00172262 Bitcoins. ~ 0.65$ at 376.57$ priced today. In this condition I can recover my money in ~ 507 days . Considering that difficulty is growing fast I can't even recover my money unless BTC/USD will be better. I sent an email to HashFlare to  cancel my order and return my money. I hope everything will be ok.

I will announce you how they treat people in this situation.

How long have you been reading and analyzing stuff before you decided to invest? 20 sec? People simply have no patience to read about stuff in this great economy. If you wanted hashflate, why didnt you go with scrypt contracts, much faster ROI. I guess that required some reading too.

I would like to introduce Lbtcl.com, a new hash rate market. Currently, you can buy 1TH for 0.59BTC. Check it out.

The fact with these ponzies is they never give up. Unbelievable.

What i really think is bad is that even hashnest isn't profitable anymore.
Which means that NONE of the cloud mining companies offer profit to their customers....

I still use DMD Diamond cloud. They pay in DMD Diamond, which s a PoS coin staking at 25% rate so this helps out a lot. True, ROI s still over a year but in any normal non-crypto circumstances, this would be an AWESOME result.

3436  Economy / Speculation / Re: Everyone is hyping about bitcoin price in 2016 on: February 01, 2016, 07:34:40 AM
The price MUST go up or all these large farms will become unprofitable and shut down which would create vacum in the market. So it s inevitable, the price of a commodity this big, with such a huge demand MUST rise as soon as supply gets halved.
3437  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is your plan to get rich with Bitcoin? on: February 01, 2016, 07:33:11 AM
I will spend the majority of my money to invest in bitcoin. I will trade and invest in gambling. I think this is enough. when I can focus on doing the job then I would never say this can not be !!

exactly.

Great way ! I am also trying few new things may be first time about trading within altcoin. Getting good results. Also have stability and security. I tried few best Bitcoin trading Platform for that and give brief reviews.

Even tried Bitcoin Gaming too.

Good ways to make it more larger. But investing in a gambling site could be risky. I am thinking about a business where I can be the boss.  Grin But there are really too many to consider. Like is it really profitable? What ifs and many more.

Investing into gambling is not investing. It s a simple gambling, the game of luck. So I ll pass on that cause the house ALWAYS wins.
3438  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Need some expert opinion here guys :) on: February 01, 2016, 07:31:48 AM
Credit Card charge back is a major issue. This is why all major sites like Payza or Solid Trust Pay allow buying BTC only with debit cards or wire. I suggest you pay attention to that.

Back in time, when I bought for the only time I ever did a fraction of a Bitcoin, I've been able to deposit money on Payza via a credit card and directly buy on Indacoin.

I tried this exactly the same way and got rejected. It can be done if you use debit card but not credit card.
