Perhaps the best advice I have heard about gambling is that you need to learn to leave the game at will, not when all the money ran out and not in any way do not try to win back your losses as it leads to even greater losses.

I try to keep this advice if I increase my deposit by 30-50%, but unfortunately I do not succeed that often.
3424  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UK 20% of the gambling venues are located at the poorest part of the country on: August 26, 2021, 12:01:59 PM
Cheaper rent sounds like a better argument to me. Why would casinos specifically target poor people? Is the fact that poor people desperately seek ways to earn money serves as such a strong incentive to locate most of the casinos nearby?

I think even considering that it would be irrational. The poor don’t have much to give to casinos in the first place.

I don't think it's about reducing the cost of rent as placing a casino in an unfavorable area carries a lot more risk.

Just like rich people, poor people are looking for ways to make money, but unlike rich people, they don't realize that it's almost impossible to make money in a casino. The financial situation of poor people does not allow them to use many of the investment tools that are available to rich people.

On the forum once discussed a big win by this strategy.

I rarely participate in the lottery, so no matter how much I wanted to win I definitely could not repeat the path of this lucky man. I hope that now he will be able to meet old age with dignity and help all his relatives.

3429  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BTC price VS gambling on: August 25, 2021, 03:23:48 PM
I always prevent depositing a large amount because that can make me forget about controlling myself in gambling games. I am sure if there will be more altcoins added to the gambling games with low fees in the future as the crypto gambling business grows.

You have a point there but for me that have funds mostly on Metamask (ETH), I can't avoid paying high fees. Even in the Swap feature of Metamask for swapping ETH to a token that was supported by some gambling sites, the fees are also high.

I thought the Berlin Upgrade will lessen the fees in the long-run. That's why depositing in a big amount, maybe a minimum of $100 worth of ETH for a fee of $10 is the wise thing to do and do everything to budget that amount properly to long last my gambling activity.

You are confusing the Berlin hardfork with the London hardfork, which implemented EIP-1559. Many of us as well as the developers hoped that with the activation of the London hardfork the commissions on the ETH network will decrease significantly. Unfortunately this did not happen.

Why you don't use cheaper ways to deposit to casino with altcoins like USDT, TRON (TRX) or LTC?

There aren't many sexy casinos, and the OnlyFans platform allows girls from almost any country to make money. It's more likely that models who currently provide pornographic content on OnlyFans will go to work in the same field, such as the same WebCam, than in a sexy casino.
3431  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UK 20% of the gambling venues are located at the poorest part of the country on: August 25, 2021, 12:31:05 PM
Poor people often have a rather low level of education both in the financial field and in such sciences as probability theory, game theory and mathematical expectation. This means that they may be more susceptible to gambling addiction than rich people. That's why I think the placement of gambling sites is concentrated in poorer areas.

Yes the odds of winning are quite small, but still there are ways to beat a slot machine for a small amount. When gambling was not yet banned in my country my friends and I used to go to the casino and play slot machines. Our strategy was that before we sit down for the slot machine we have several hours to monitor the activity of all slot machines. We were able to make good money sitting down only for those slot machine in which it has already been thrown a lot of money but they have not yet given the winnings.

Of course, this can not be attributed to breaking the code is just an increase in the probability of winning by counting.
3433  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motivated by "breaking the code" on: August 24, 2021, 07:11:28 PM
Even if you are a good coder I don't think you can replace the code with your own or copy the slot machine software to find the error in the code since nobody will allow you to connect your hardware for this manipulation. In today's world which is almost everywhere full of surveillance cameras this doesn't make any sense because the risks are too high.

Maybe they think the topic is about online software. For those recent responses, the topic is about a physical slot machine.

Even a coder will pass by on that slot machine, I doubt at only a few attempts he will discover how to cheat on it. That coder won't spend time searching for loopholes but instead just play on it then leave.

It will be also hard for that coder to cheat on that machine as that requires disassembling it which is impossible to do.

That's what I'm saying, this idea is more likely to lead to a prison sentence than to a situation where the coder installs his software on the slot machine and gets rich off of it.

The only option is if the coder has direct access to the slot machine, for example, maintains such equipment. In this situation, he can install software which has loopholes. Once he leaves his job, he can use third parties who know his secret to make a profit from the slot machines. But this will not last long either.

Poly Network "

This is definitely a problem with gamblers.

I think that most people don't even realise that they are playing a game that carries negative EV. They just go in and expect to make money as if they are not playing for the sake of entertainment.

That actually really concerns me, and I think must be addressed.

People shouldn't be playing because they think there is some loophole that doesn't exist. They should be playing for fun and for personal enjoyment.

That's right. First of all, you should be a really good coder to have even a slightest chance of finding a loophole. But then, if you are so good in coding, you know that it can take a lot of time, and most likely the time will be wasted in vain. Also, your salary, as of a good coder, can be pretty good and you'll don't have time for such nonsense.

Even if you are a good coder I don't think you can replace the code with your own or copy the slot machine software to find the error in the code since nobody will allow you to connect your hardware for this manipulation. In today's world which is almost everywhere full of surveillance cameras this doesn't make any sense because the risks are too high.

I have developed a rule for myself when gambling the meaning of which is that I leave the game if I manage to increase my deposit by 40-50%. This simple rule helps me not only to enjoy the game, but also to stay with the winnings, though not so often.
3440  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where to seek help if you need; concerned with gambling addiction. on: August 23, 2021, 02:24:58 PM

There's no need further explanation I think, since it's pretty basic logic. People get addicted in anything because their habits exceeded the usual, that's why it became an addiction, either it is bad or not. No need to explain why, when, and how to quit it, because the solutions already are existing, the problem now is that gambling addicts never wants to admit they are addicted on it, because they think it's not bad at all, just a habit.

That's basically the truth when people think he's right even though he's doing it all wrong, we can't do anything about it and it's so hard to explain to them when they are in this state of mind. Because no matter how much logic you tell them, they always turn away from it, and the only one who can help them is when they decide to go to someone who can give them sincere advice and I think this time they will gonna listen and ponder about it.
Once they realized they needed to seek professional help, that's the time that they are ready to move forward and try to move away from this business.

People who are not ready to step away from gambling will always have their own interpretations, not even the symptoms of addictions already present. They will continue to bring excuses.

It's always the person who is into this concern is the one who can resolve his own problem, either by self will or by the help of those professionals that they'll going to hire for help.

I think the main reason why gambling addicts don't want to go to a professional is because they are afraid to show their weakness in public. After all, many of them have at least once tried to overcome their gambling addiction on their own, so they are aware that they have problems but don't want others to know about it. This is a kind of psychological trap that prevents them from coping with their addiction.
