3421  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price will not increase until 12 months before the halving. on: April 24, 2015, 03:02:55 PM
The halving will not be the only reason the price will go up. If we get some pretty good news we will see an increase in price. The problem recently is everytime it has been going up something bad happens to bring it down whether its GAW selling their btc off or the dark market owners, etc.

Good news aren't doing anything to the price anymore, all the pumps that follow the release of good news are just artificial and caused by traders who try to make a small profit. They will never lead to a sustained growth faster price will always go back down.

It will take time for all those good news to stack up and just make it stupid as hell to dump the coins. As more VC money keeps getting in and as more banks around the world keep bailing out we'll see rallies. It's just math.
3422  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bottom is in at $215 buying like crazy on: April 24, 2015, 02:57:45 PM
Enjoy. Wink

Ten days have passed and the bottom did hold:

Congratulations to everyone who managed to buy.

If we see 220's again this weekend I will try to buy more.
By next week we should aim for 260 with another push. Happy trading!

That buy rally is too big to be made by a single whale in terms of volume. I think there was an example of how scared people is to miss the boat in a rally scenario and how quick things can skyrocket.
3423  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Is Mass Bitcoin Adoption Still Not Happening? on: April 24, 2015, 02:52:31 PM
When I describe bitcoin to my friends, their usual argument against bitcoin is:
"Why would we spend time to exchange cash or credit card or money from the bank account for bitcoin and then to exchange bitcoin for a gift card in order to buy something, when we can use credit card and buy something in a second."
This is also the case with my friends. They see is as stupid converting their money to buy the same stuff they can buy directly with cash/fiat/credit card. What they don't see is the huge advantages it gives you as an entrepreneur: creating an address vs having to create a bank account etc etc.
3424  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 bitcoins. Will I be a millionaire by 2020? on: April 24, 2015, 02:50:46 PM
No. You will be a laughing stock.
Keep telling that yourself to sleep better night. I only hope you don't have a gun near you to not blow your head in 2019's xmas eve when Bitcoin is back above ATH again.
going from 220 to 1200 in 5 years is not all that great an investment.

Nobody said it would be easy. New technology is prone to suffer from bubbles, which shake off weak non long term hands. Buying at 1k or 200 will seem irrelevant in 10 to 20 years.
3425  Economy / Speculation / Re: when will we be degoxed? on: April 23, 2015, 04:51:43 PM
the willybot knocked the price around and sucked in alot of speculators.
assuming most were in it for the short term gain and not because they fundamentally thought bitcoin itself was a great idea then most will have been exiting since Nov 2013.
so in thinking about where the price might go now it seems sensible to try to guess when the bot fooled the market.
if it was not until that month then Oct 2013 is a point we might go back to - it had an opening price of $123 and closed at $198. we are not far off the closing price now. However the price jumped 61% in that month so it looks like some decent amount of speculation was going on.

so if people want a rough guide to where we might end up

- if you are bullish then it maybe say $170-$200.
 - if you are bearish you might go back in time a bit to feb 2103 when the opening price was $20 and closing $33 with a similar % rise for the month (65%). so the price now might go to say $26 -$34.

time will tell but since despite all the positive things coming up in the next 12 months and which are far more positive than bitcoin's prospects in 2013 we have no decent demand happening.
so I see at least the price going down another $30-$50 easily and if no buyers move in a slow drop down to sub $100. Sad

I think it will be another slump for BTC's price in 2015.  That's just me...  I know others think otherwise and have valid points and arguments behind it.

The smart money is quietly in this period, if we have 1 last sharp drop then fine but its no big deal if right after we are testing ATHs few months later.  Whales are controlling the market perfectly keeping the prices down to accumulate.
This is just what I said in another thread. That is the correct analysis on the current situation. Too bad most of the average joes in here don't get it. You have to think with a whale mentality to understand what's going on, otherwise you get lost as you think from your POV only.
3426  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are you bullish or bearish right now? on: April 23, 2015, 04:50:06 PM
Pretty bearish for now. If you look at the order book, there are still large sell orders placed to dump the coins at every price level. Not much can be said in the opposite direction as buyers generally prefer the "wait and see" approach. So in order to break the sell wall resistance and have the price go up, there must be really large order coming in or else with the current scenario, it will most likely drop further.

Bulls are on the defensive right now.  Whatever funds are available i'm sure they are saving to buy more to help average out and avoid a margin call.
It's clear to me now that a lot of the good stuff (BTC, XMR, MAID, DASH) are being keep down in price while the whales are slowly stacking up, to not disturb the low price and keep everyone away from paying any attention to it. Classic move for those that have a lot of money, are bullish but don't want to trigger a rally.
3427  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SCAM COIN? or next big thing? Global Coin Reserve on: April 23, 2015, 04:43:05 PM
Who on their sane mind would put their money on some dodgy closed source (we are talking decentralization here) project? Not me. This is yet another Charles Ponzi to fill to the ever growing list.
3428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What makes an altcoin rise in the market? on: April 23, 2015, 04:40:49 PM
Massive hype basically. After the hype fades, the coin dies. There are exceptions, like Monero, Dash or Maidsafe. Serious projects with a purpose, something you can be reasonable safe at night while holding long term besides Bitcoin.
Other than that, its really hard to say from all the coins, very difficult to pick up winners without it basically being a casino gamble.
3429  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Using the blockchain to create/power sentient robotic life on: April 23, 2015, 04:33:33 PM
I just found something a bit similar to this(https://bitcointa.lk/threads/putting-a-person-on-a-block-chain.338246/), though it speaks about the concept of placing human "consciousness" on the blockchain(I think something simpler than a human brain) like a rat's, would be more feasible, if possible at all.

Nice find, another interesting read... But i also agree, i think a rats brain is much more likely/possible. then maybe with more development we could get to the level of a chimpanzee or something, but i think the human brain would take a long time.  Sad

We haven't even "decoded" the human brain yet-it has around 100billion neurons. So yea a rat's would be much more plausible atm.

A human brain is indeed impossible, science fiction. Now a rodent, or even better a fly... maybe. But having something decoded doesn't mean it's feasible to emulate it just yet.
3430  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are you bullish or bearish right now? on: April 22, 2015, 06:47:01 PM
I've been bearish for a long time, but we seem to have found the bottom. Unless we see a crash in the next month or so, I think we can be fairly confident in the bear market ending.

Well it's still far too early to really call this a trend-reversal. It could just as well be just another bounce before a big drop (we've seen this before). But it's good to see the price trying. I've still got quite some hopes up that we break out of this downtrend for good now, as well!
According to a lot of people in tradeview they are seeing still a downtrend or at least a period of time of being stuck on this low 200's price. We'll see if we can break to 300 territory through this summer. BTC is so undervalued right now, feels good.
3431  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price will not increase until 12 months before the halving. on: April 22, 2015, 06:37:06 PM
Just my theory.  It happened this way at the last halving.  It will happen again.  It will become more real to people at less then a year.  Miners will start to price it in to there sells.  People will start to hoard again anticipating a price increase.  There will be more adoption in general.  The prophecy will self fufill.

The halvings of other coins haven't demonstrated a relevant impact on the actual coin that halved. Im just hopping with Bitcoin it is different. Technically it doesn't mean much as it's a self regulating system, but there is a psychological pressure with it that might sky rocket the price. I have definitely the price of the halving marked on my calendar.
3432  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin exchange Bitstamp suspends service after security breach. on: April 22, 2015, 06:25:53 PM
Jan 6 (Reuters) - Bitstamp, one of the largest exchanges for trading the digital bitcoin currency, said it has temporarily suspended service after "some" of its "operational wallets were compromised" on Sunday, resulting in loss of about 19,000 bitcoins.

The breach represented "a small fraction" of its total bitcoin reserve and the majority was held in secure offline cold storage systems, Bitstamp posted on its website on Tuesday. (bit.ly/1eTIPEt)

Why post old news? That headline almost made me choke on my drink because I have funds there, only to find out its from january 6..
3433  Economy / Economics / Re: The world would be better, if the US dollar... on: April 22, 2015, 06:24:01 PM
Most of the world nations are keeping the vast majority of their Forex reserves in the form of USD (either in bills or in the form of treasury bonds). If the value of US Dollar drops, then all these countries will be in difficulty.
Thats why the USD is the ultimate bastion for most fortunes, but sooner or later it will go down tho. The thing is I don't see all those so called doomsday scenarios happening as soon as the Alex Jones type person think it will.
3434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 12 Million people use Bitcoin today according to XAPO's CEO on: April 22, 2015, 06:13:49 PM
The data I would actually like to see is the amount of people that is going to be using Xapo or services like it, vs the amount of people that decide to be their own bank (control their own wallets).
3435  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Kraken Accepting MtGox Bankruptcy Claims on: April 22, 2015, 06:10:42 PM
I've been trying to get accepted in Kraken for months now, my credentials never got validated, I got tired of waiting and eventually gave up.
Thank god I never got involved with the Karpeles scam. Good look to the ones cursed by the Gox.
3436  Other / Off-topic / Re: How many of you signature campaign posters sell your coins once you received it? on: April 22, 2015, 06:05:36 PM

The best paying per post signature campaign is DaDice right now if I am not mistaken. So you can theoretically you will earn max 0.13 by posting per week so 52x0.13=0.672BTC per year.

Let me be the one to correct your math:

52 x BTC0.13 = BTC6.76 per year.

But doing calculations like this aren't very accurate long term. In a year, the price can change a lot so im not sure the campaign owners will be nice enough to not lower the BTC payments if price goes too high again.. they should keep it because as of right now it doesn't pay much but yeah.. it is what it is, a small bonus.
3437  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Apple Pay on: April 21, 2015, 10:09:29 PM
The funny part is Apple helps the US government spy on everyone and everthing they have the government's blessing as well.
Meanwhile you have all these idiot hipster types acting like Apple's part of some kind of 'counterculture'!!
3438  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin is VAT-exempt in Spain on: April 21, 2015, 10:07:34 PM
If the good news keep stacking up on spain I might move there. Perfect climate, nice food, hot girls and relaxed laws on BTC. Seems good to me.

Regarding avatars: you just have to wear it or you have to state it somewhere? do you get the bonus from further posts made wearing the avatar, or if for example I put the avatar on now, i'll get the bonus of my previous yet to be paid posts?
also, at what hour does the pay occur? if I understood correctly next one is on 22th.
3440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: April 20, 2015, 04:22:18 PM
But will it ever deliver?
If there is a big, serious project that will certainly deliver is this. If you do your research you'll see how David Irvine and their team have been on this for years. The next testnet is comming soon and beta could arrive before 2016. If you got some basic notions you would know the price is Insanely cheap right now. Don't believe me just watch.
