3442  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Trading can be considered as Gambling? on: December 26, 2020, 04:22:24 PM
I have this in my mind recently because I have seen in some of my trading groups that they have been rekt many times in Futures Trading with BTC. They trade a lot but keep on losing because there is a tendency to overtrade and not mind how much you risk totality. It's greed and fear what drive us to trade and continuously fuel the wants to trade. It's actually gambling, to be honest if what you are aiming for is just earning money and not applying different principles that could help you win in trading.

Trading will become gambling if you don't apply these principles
  • Risk Management
  • Have a trading plan
  • Emotionless Trading

It's essential to remember the balance between money management and sticking to your trading plan. Like gambling, if you are losing, you tend to become even more annoyed and tendency to overbet. I think that's what is the same. It's the human emotion that drives us to the end. Make sure to overcome it if you want to win.
3443  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Automated Trading Challenge - Start with $2000 - 5.83% gain after 15 Days on: December 26, 2020, 08:40:45 AM
Great profit during Christmas day. 15.676 USDT in a day. This is not bad considering the previous days that we had. Still averaging around 8.305 USDT per day on 16 Days, which is really not bad considering the only cost to have continuously is the VPS monthly. Otherwise, the license is a one-time payment only, and you don't need to pay for anything else.

Updated the OP and if some of you got questions, post em up.
3444  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Paying with crypto for government services on: December 25, 2020, 09:34:50 PM
I believe that we are headed in that direction in which all the governments will accept crypto as the daily form of payment. It can be dependent on the person if they are going to use crypto, but the freedom and flexibility to use it should be enough to entice other people to use it or be made aware of it.

I asked a couple of people if they have heard of what Bitcoin is, but they seem to have this notion that it's related to famous actors getting into it, but the reality is, it's just for that celebrity pockets. It may be important to educate people first before anything else on what Bitcoin really is. I think that's what matters the most.
3445  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger "Data Breach" is very annoying and heart breaking! on: December 25, 2020, 12:35:52 PM
I received a legitimate email from noreply@ledger.com Replying to the phishing that has happened. I can see in the email that It looks legitimate. It's somewhat like what you posted but with no misspells or whatnot.

Security Notice
What happened?

We contacted our customers last July to tell them that part of our e-commerce marketing database had been leaked.

Yesterday we were informed about the dump of the content of a Ledger customer database on Raidforum. We believe this to be the contents of our e-commerce database from June, 2020. For specific questions please refer to the FAQ, which we will continue to update to address your concerns.

What information was involved?

At the time of the incident, in July, we engaged an external security organisation to conduct a forensic review of the logs available. This review of the logs enabled us to confirm that approximately 1 million email addresses had been stolen as well as 9,532 more detailed personal information (postal addresses, name, surname and phone number) that we were able to specifically identify.

The database publicly released yesterday shows that a larger subset of detailed information has been leaked, approximately 272,000 detailed information such as postal address, last name, first name and telephone number of our customers. These details are not available in the logs that we were able to analyse.

If you are part of the detailed personal information subset, you will receive a specific email notifying you within the next 24 hours (check your spam box).

It is important to note that this data breach is not linked to our hardware wallets nor Ledger Live security and your crypto assets are safe and not in peril of being compromised. Due to our comprehensive security scheme, attackers cannot steal your sensitive information like recovery phrases and private keys unless you give it to them. You are the only one in control and able to access this information. DO NOT GIVE YOUR 24 WORDS TO ANYONE. Ledger will NEVER ask you for your 24 words.

What we are doing

Since July, we notified our clients in several communications via email, blog posts, and Twitter. We are doing everything possible to make Ledger stronger for the future. We have hired a new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). We are further hardening our already strong systems and have thoroughly reviewed our data policy. We executed penetration tests and forensic analysis with external security firms to test these and find any additional vulnerabilities on our e-commerce systems.

We are continuously working with law enforcement to prosecute hackers and stop these scammers. We have taken down more than 170 phishing websites since the original breach. We have notified the French data protection authority regarding the data breach and are working with other data protection authorities across the world. Our Customer Support team is working 24/7 to answer your questions.
We are doing everything we can to proactively deal with this critical situation and prevent anything similar in the future. We wish we could turn back the hands of time and make this problem disappear. Unfortunately we cannot, so we are focused on today and the future. Please be sure we are more focused than ever on security in every part of our customer experience.

What you can do

We recommend you exercise caution -- always be mindful of phishing attempts by malicious scammers. Ledger will never ask you for the 24 words of your recovery phrase, not even in Ledger Live. Ledger will never contact you via text messages or phone call.

Furthermore, while we do all we can, we suggest you visit the security section of Ledger Academy to educate yourself on general security principles and more precisely our article about phishing attacks. Also, familiarize yourself with the anatomy of these ongoing phishing campaigns and report any phishing you experience on this dedicated page.

If you want to know if your information may have been exposed previously head to https://haveibeenpwned.com/

We have taken immediate action to resolve the damage, and are diligently working to protect all customer information. We are extremely regretful that this incident impacts our customers and recognize it will take time to restore your confidence. We will do everything in our power to show you that this has made Ledger better, stronger, and more secure.

Sincerely,
Pascal Gauthier
CEO, Ledger

This is definitely the legitimate one, not yours. As I have been part of that leaked data and they are informing us as the customer that they are handling it.

Be careful with what you do and never give your seed phrase etc.
3446  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Automated Trading Challenge - Start with $2000 - 5.83% gain after 15 Days on: December 25, 2020, 07:21:32 AM
So the other bags that I had were removed, and the XMR bag remains. As long as we're using the conservative strategy, it's okay. It's pretty far away from the liquidation limit.

I have updated the OP for my recent gains. I'm happy with the current results that we have. 5.83% gain in half a month is excellent, IMO.
3447  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XRP Price Dives After SEC Files Charges on: December 25, 2020, 03:17:43 AM
I don't think it's the end right now. Being in the top altcoins for a long time, I don't think it will be a downfall for the coin. We all know that there is a lot of news surrounding it, but in the end, having their reputation out there already for a long time and a lot of custodial wallets, like in my country, it's being supported and being traded as well. It's not the best time to lose hope, but I think it's a great time to buy it while it's on sale.

As of this posting, it's 16.85% , so definitely not the end.
3448  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 257 Main Event: McGregor vs. Poirier [Prediction and Discussion] on: December 24, 2020, 12:54:51 PM
Our aim is to win in betting so I think that I will bet on what is really obvious compared to high risk and high return, we really have different strategies and preferences in betting.
Yes, if you have extra money to spare and you are willing to lose it, I think it's going to be okay to bet on the underdog. Besides, who is more willing to win this match and make a name for himself? I think it's Poirier. McGregor is more famous compared to him and if there are headlines that say he is beaten by Poirier, it would be music to his ears.  Shocked
3449  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Wallet file on: December 24, 2020, 11:08:59 AM
You would see the wallet file as .dat extension. Usually, you can find it in the directory where you installed your software. Or usually in the APPDATA (if you are using windows)

Code:
\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Electrum\wallets (or %APPDATA%\Electrum\wallets)
3450  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Automated Trading Challenge - Start with $2000 on: December 24, 2020, 06:20:39 AM
Added a couple of dollars towards the account again. I had a couple of cash vouchers won from Binance so, thrilled to have that. Currently participating in the Gunbot Tournament as well.

https://tournament.gunthy.org/

An update, the current positions that I have during this time of posting.

Now I have 3 bags with my current setup. I will wait till the market recovers. I have some hard reduction setup, so if ever needed to kill the position, it will. Let's see in the following days.
3451  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 257 Main Event: McGregor vs. Poirier [Prediction and Discussion] on: December 24, 2020, 06:09:09 AM
....I’m just not sure how McGregor would handle this fight knowing that he hasn’t been able to fight recently. So I’m probably going for the high risk high return. Poirier.
I looked up their fight records
Conor McGregor's last bout was Jan. 18, 2020. It's a TKO win against Donald Cerrone.
Dustin's last fight was a unanimous decision win on June 27,2020.
I don't think the six months difference would be that big of a factor.
What's interesting to see is that these two both lost to the same man [Khabib] prior to their last fights.
I do agree with that. It's better to check their current abilities with the same fighter that had them beat. It's sad that they are not going to be able to fight him anymore. Let's just see how their fight is going to be.
3452  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin runs off the fumes of fiat. on: December 24, 2020, 06:01:58 AM
It would depend on what value you give to a certain asset. Imagine money, and we assign a value to it because it's an agreed-upon value. Once that Bitcoin adoption is strengthened and widespread, this would change and how we utilize the money system. It's all for that one goal in which everything is dictated by crypto and not the equivalent fiat value.

You know that the price does not dictate people who believe in crypto changing the financial industry, right? It's the number of people using it as their everyday instrument for everything because it's better to use Bitcoin instead of the forever inflating fiat.
3453  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 257 Main Event: McGregor vs. Poirier [Prediction and Discussion] on: December 24, 2020, 03:44:05 AM
After everything that happened with McGregor’s career it seems that he wants to reclaim back his outlook towards him considering the previous matches that he had. With this match I think Poirier Would be a great risk great return reward In terms of betting with him.

I’m just not sure how McGregor would handle this fight knowing that he hasn’t been able to fight recently. So I’m probably going for the high risk high return. Poirier.
3454  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Automated Trading Challenge - Start with $2000 on: December 23, 2020, 02:58:10 AM
It reached -36% ROE with XMR around 10 hours ago but it rose in price again. It didn't reach my average entry price and the position wasn't closed. I still have that bag. Let's see what the price action would be today.

Additionally, I deposited some USDT towards the account. I would be trying to take advantage of the compounding interest. Let's see in a couple of months what the result is. The summarized table is in the second post on how much deposited etc.
3455  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcointalk Charity Program - Give Hope To Everyone! on: December 22, 2020, 11:51:26 PM
I almost made it but since I failed reaching P2500  (x<500 est/ChristmasPack) from these Christmas promotions in crypto, I am inquiring here if in case there is still undistributed packs you have, there are these 5 people I wanted to have a merrier Christmas, 3 are homeless("palaboy'), the other 2 lives in the squammy area("pabahay nangangalakal") where I visit quite a lot.

Actually to say that they are homeless and the other lives in the slums would be an understatement.
I think for logistic processes it is not ideal to ship out heavy bags. I think it’s better to just provide money and you make the gift packs for them.

Nope warning won't come If he first composed the post and looking how long and how many editing and checking he needs to do before posting for sure he took long time ,while yours is only a Minute to post..
Sorry for replying to this a little off-topic, but I think you are mistaken or I am, well I don't know, that's why I said AFAIK(As far as I know).
I’m pretty sure there would be a warning but because I always check or click the preview buttonBefore posting, I think I have missed out on the warning itself because after clicking it again I’m sure it wouldn’t show it anymore. That’s why I edited the first post and added a horizontal line then replied.
3456  Economy / Exchanges / Re: The future of exchanges in the cryptospace on: December 22, 2020, 03:29:31 PM
I think it's far more than just where your coin comes from, but in general use of cryptocurrencies is involved in this discussion. Imagine those in power in the largest banks have suspicions, and they want to have more control over it by invading your privacy and having that data collection in their hands. Like in the article, I agree that they should fix the old financial system's flaws and adapt to the new way of financial systems.
3457  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcointalk Charity Program - Give Hope To Everyone! on: December 22, 2020, 03:01:46 PM
I'm really happy with the outcome of my activity. It took quite a preparation and logistical analytics to make this possible and it was a success. I'm so thankful for the donators that made this happen. Because of the donators, we were able to help a lot of families that were struck with unfortunate events. Thank you.

The activity was a success. The activity that I had organized is in San Mateo Rizal. See the situation that they have below.

The typhoon Ulysses hit the Luzon area last November 11 - 12, 2020. We were surprised by the situation that they have on-going and it's been more than a month and it's sad that they still have this situation. It made us feel more elated to help them and share with them this holiday gift.

This is what we have prepared for them and how it was loaded in a mini truck to be transported.

The Holiday Gift Bag consists of these items
  • Alcohol
  • Clothes (Shirt and Shorts)
  • Soap
  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrush
  • Tuna
  • Meat Loaf
  • Noodles
  • Pasta and Sauce Combo
  • Cheese
  • Fruit Cocktail
  • 2L Water
  • Durable Eco Bag

The mini-truck can't fit all the 200 total gift bags without having it be on top-of-the other. So we just made it almost 4 layers in gift bags.

Distribution

We have a contact there that would distribute a claim stub so that everyone who was able to register and get a stub would really get their holiday gift bag. We had helped with this to make sure it's in an orderly fashion and make sure that we all wore facemasks too (not 100%) Sad

We had a line so that it would be in order and make sure no one is going to get double of a gift so everyone has their fair share. But some people had double stubs because they are getting the gift package for the Senior Citizens who aren't able to be physically present to claim the gift.

I'm thankful for everyone who has given their time and effort towards making this activity a success.

Happy Holidays Everyone! To more activities like this!

*edit

What has become of this?
I was already composing my post when I didn't notice that you actually posted before it. I'm happy that you are willing to help. Maybe in the next activity, we could come up with something.
3458  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you manage Bitcoin price risk? on: December 22, 2020, 01:46:52 PM
You touched upon a great point "most of the people want to profit on a USDT basis and not BTC" (my point not relevant here, but we had a nice discussion with the Community about if Bitcoin is for Fake Rich, and you just gave an additional prove to that Cheesy)
Well, it depends on who you are talking to about it because a lot of members here in the forum would prefer BTC instead of USDT but the majority of the new players in the market are aiming to have a higher USDT value and not looking at how much BTC that they have. I think that could also count as a price risk to BTC and how you manage it. Hedging your assets could be ideal.
3459  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If you were me , Do you buy this coin ?? on: December 22, 2020, 08:48:34 AM
I'm not sure if what coin is similar but it does look like a well-rounded project. Not that I'm suggesting you buy it but if you have extra money to burn, and then you could take the risk. The thread itself looks nice too, but be careful. Don't invest too much you might regret it but we can never know the future so, it's still up to you.

99% of alts are dead. To risky to invest in new one
Isn't this a new one? Lol. You didn't even check the thread that he linked. The thread was created in November 2020.
3460  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OMG !!!!! You BitCoin people were right. I wish I had bought back in March :( on: December 22, 2020, 07:44:41 AM
You know, it's not about being right but believing in the technology. I think positive opinions towards Bitcoin can help you understand why some people, like me, believe it would increase in price. It's always going to be a challenge to predict it, but if you are a supporter and a user of Bitcoin itself, you should know that it would increase in price by a lot.

The things that you are doing, that's just when there's good news about Bitcoin and feeling FOMO about it. I hope you understand that you could get burned, just like the people who bought in the previous ATH. If you had HODL on to it, you would have made it back to your entry price and profit during this time.

Anyways, to secure your coins, having a hardware wallet would be the best device that you could have, besides your smartphone. With a hardware wallet, you are secured enough not to get hacked. For scamming, it's going to be up to you, so beware of suspicious emails, chats, etc.
