Value is the biggest idea people care not to mention when it comes to mining bitcoins. I have read so much about difficulty increase with ASIC and how there not going to be profitable. But the math is not static. You can make predictions on ROI with difficulty and current value but the potential value for the Bitcoin could be through the roof and make the coins you got from your USB miner very profitable even if it is very few. The power consumption is so low you have only Bitcoins to gain. The USB ASIC makes it so easy to mine. At the end of the day you can run them forever and still make something. Even if a very small %. They are over priced but take a look at what they re going for a ebay! Makes the bitcoin price look good. Anyways just my 2 cents.
Plus- It's a really "______________" to do...because "____________________"!!!

Can you guys explain to me why you are buying these devices, which have no other value but for mining of BTC?
I just do not see how these would be profitable given the current growth of the difficulty.
They are readily available and they work. They are also silent and efficient. I've wanted to mine for a while, but was turned off by the power requirements of GPU mining. I like having a source of bitcoins that isn't dependent on exchanges. BINGO!

One factor most do not take into account is Bitcoin has the potential of increasing in value into the Thousands of Dollars per 1- BTC.

no updates yet folks. other than having paid friedcat, today is finishing up for me by completing shipping notifications on group 3. after that, I will update group 4 stats and order list... we have a cpl days till group 4 gets here...
I have to say though, that the quality of signed messages has gone through the roof and I'm a happy camper with verification now Thank you!!!
I have also gotten my shipping down packed now and have changed how I manage info internally here as well. things are much more streamlined wrt to getting your info onto printed labels and boxes to ship. my shipping times are now getting shorter and the amount of time spent at fedex and USPS has decreased significantly... that means more sleep for me
Necessity is the Mother of Invention!

snip... I don't know why you've singled out batch 3 for poor communication. You're doing a great job with batch 4, which is sort of annoying. You really need to work on your communication with this thread. Batches 1,2 and 4 seem to provide much clearer feedback and the vague accusations blaming us for not knowing how to sign a message is grating.
He's mining with batch 3 ;-) Makes me wonder how much coin could be made IF we all went in on a pool for two weeks @ 600units.

Coinbase ACH cleared in 3-days. They are getting better.
Mine's been going on nearly a week now? ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) I was worried about missing the 3rd cutoff, now I'm worried about missing the 5th!!! CORRECTION: Even though my bank says the ACH went through Coinbase did not update their site yet. I will post when it's cleared by them. I think they do some things Manually there yet...however I have same issues with paypal. So far my calculations show a .3-1.2% premium when you buy the shares. Not too bad on the lower end. Much better than Bitinstant's 1.3- 1.5% premium.

I did that in the main client. Do I copy that out and PM him too? Copy everything. 1-Your "Sending BTC" address that's signed. 2-Your mailing address(which this should be the ONLY THING in the message. No blank spaced or lines. 3-Your Signature generated when you sign the message. 4-PM Canary all three. Sample below: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=222960.msg2343943#msg2343943Obviously the message which is your address does not contain: ---------------BEGIN-------------- --------------END----------------- You just put your address between those brackets before you send it to Canary...

i'm actually kind of shocked at the continued demand for these things.
Not sure the exact Mhash/Watt on these but it's far better than any GPU. I feel I'll get the value in BTC back in time. Now IF only these puppies could be overclocked into mid 400's that would ROI @ 3.8 months.

I feel I'll get the value in BTC back in time. current break even is over 100 days hard to justify with BFL so close and the chance of many new asic providers. 50-70% price drop is needed. Unless BTC hits 200 soon. China made @ 10-20.00 ea. however the design engineering testing chip designs etc. kicks the overhead up considerably. Looks like they all will be getting their cut and be quite happy. A price drop may be needed to keep sales going once they meet their overhead costs if not already....

Not sure the exact Mhash/Watt on these but it's far better than any GPU. I feel I'll get the value in BTC back in time. The least I calculated is 5.7 months...But a few months from now that could all change. Also BFL just shipped a whole SINGLE Jalapeno!!! IMO- a few got out to satisfy the crowd...

Canary,
Updating the status of verified messages in your original post like you have done in group 1 and 2 and now in group 4 serves two purposes. Many of us see that post long before we check PM. Once verified we can also stop worrying about it. I had trouble sending a verified message intially because I was a newbie. I'm certain I could do it flawlessly now. However, I don't want to send you a second one lest I just confuse the issue. So I am waiting for you to update the original post for group 3. I know you have a day job. Frankly I don't know how you can handle this load. Keep it up. Thanks.
Well said! I had so much trouble just not understanding that you could send a verified message from an address without sending a payment...So it jailed me for a week!

He wants to return it back to the sending address but it would be yours not mine. i told him don't do it as you will get it and not me. Would it be possible for him to send it back to your address and it be credited back to my account?
Do you have a way to remedy this?
Thank you, xxx

snipped* JUN 03, 2013 | 03:54PM PDT Olaf replied: *From Coinbase* There is a one-time waiting period for new customers - their first purchase must clear before they can make additional purchases. You can purchase up to 10 bitcoin per day until your first purchase was made thirty days ago, at which point your limits will increase to 50 bitcoin per day. Transactions normally take 3-4 business days because that's the time it takes for funds to flow from your bank to ours. This is something we're working hard on to improve. Hope that helps!
