Not a hater but they do make their chances getting slimmer ~snip~

According to basketball-reference playoff probability charts Lakers now have  0.1% chance of making the playoffs. They should totally forget about it and focus on something else like losing games on purpose as they are not that far away from 7-8th worst team records. As yall know draft odds are significantly adjusted this year, which mean they can get a higher draft pick. Who knows maybe it helps them land AD.

source

I don't mean to hate or troll (well maybe a little bit Tongue) but do we see more of this^ tonight against the Clippers or Lakers pull their shit together and act like a team that wants to make the playoffs? I guess I'm more interested in the stuff that goes off the court rather than the game itself. Lakers are such a mess at this point, even if you are not a fan you just feel sorry for them.
3464  Economy / Reputation / Re: Strange 'merits' assignment on: March 04, 2019, 09:25:18 PM
I sorta understand OP, had a similar experience back in September I think. A dude bombed me with a max 50 merits out of nowhere for some random premine scam I exposed. I didn't end up making a thread about it though I considered it strongly. It feels weird even to this day and I see why OP wants to be open about it.

I could see a merit abusing account farmer pull a bait and switch by posting this type of thread.

Because of all the shit that I've seen in the last few months, I can see why you're skeptical. I just don't find a motive in this particular case. Why would he risk his reputation for some merit? Higher rank i.e Sr.member wouldn't net him more gigs, rather his work and positive feedback will.
3465  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA Playoffs 2019 Prediction Pool on: March 04, 2019, 03:59:39 PM
I think it would be hard to facilitate this kind of prediction pool here in the forum as the post are editable.

I think it's doable. Posts might be editable but if changes are made (except for the first 7-10min) you will be notified. i.e dotted lines. There should be a deadline for prediction submissions prior to each round. Anyone who fails to do this in time will not receive any points as their submission will be deemed invalid. Post editing should be highly discouraged and accepted only if it is done within the deadline.

Things to be considered/done:

1. Find a trusted escrow.

2. Find at least 10 people who will commit and participate in the prediction pool.

3. Have a discussion about entry fees: 0.003, 0.004 or 0.005BTC.

4. Prediction format. So there will be four rounds:

1st round 8 games
2nd round 4 games
Conf. Semis 2 games
Finals 1 game

Let's say Bucks vs Pistons match up together in the first round and Bucks win the series 4-1. I would have anywhere between 2 to 5 points for correctly predicting the winner and 7 to 10 points for guessing the exact score. However, we need to find a balance between the two.

5. Have a discussion about prize pool allocation along with escrow fees.

6. Rules in case of tie records in the end, who gets the edge etc?

There are probably more things to consider...obviously  Tongue

I'd like to once more confirm that I'm going to participate. I'd like to see more people commit here in this thread.
3466  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: March 04, 2019, 11:57:24 AM
Raps just look exposed. Nurse isn't an upgrade over Casey.

I don't think they look exposed or anything. After all, they hold the second best record in the entire league. As freedomgo mentioned, Kawhi did not play, they also had Mark Gasol play as a starter last night, can't tell if they were trying new lineups or just matching up Blake and Drummond. On top of that, they lost in a tight game in overtime against a team that has a good little streak goin' on (8-2).

Looks like there is still some hate in his heart or he could just be very competitive.

He is hardly over the fact that he was fired after winning coach of the year award and Raptors having franchise high 59 reg season wins. I'd be butthurt if I was him.  Tongue

I guess he's angry he got tagged as a sig spammer by Lucius for making huge amount of posts per week.

Obviously, there are much worse spammers out there and no one is tagging them (deisik you can do it yourself) for spamming i.e accounts mentioned by marlboroza.

What do you exactly mean by that?

I'm sorry if I was misunderstood, interpreted OP's first post as him interested in participating and possibly holding a prediction pool.

Not sure if basketball fans here have ever had such a game/contest, having one would be awesome.

I know for a fact (and personal experience) that such initiatives require considerable effort and have simply offered my help to anyone willing to do it.
3470  Economy / Reputation / Re: Stake.com (SteveStake) is encouraging spam. on: February 28, 2019, 09:52:59 PM
I think a link to a public spreadsheet has just been added - here

There seems to be 3x as many people wearing their signatures and not reflected in this table, maybe someone (manager Roll Eyes) should tell them they won't be paid so no need to spew 50 posts a day.
3471  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: February 28, 2019, 09:23:58 PM
Dirks is a good choice because he is barely running anymore, he still has the talent but his body is not allowing him to play

I agree Dirk should retire after the end of the season. Watching him "run" up and down the court I have the feeling that at any moment he will literally break. It's that bad. Even Adam Silver was joking during All-Star break that this would be Nowitzki's last season.

By the way, Dirk only needs 68pts to surpass Wilt Chamberlain in the all-time scoring list (moving to 6th place). Mavs have 21 remaining games, so he will need to avg around 3.2ppg to get it done. That's doable imo.
3472  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA Playoffs 2019 Prediction Pool on: February 28, 2019, 07:26:59 PM
Interesting idea @OP, you can count me in!

I suggest that you look at how successful prediction pools have been organized/set up in the past.

Playoffs begin in about a month and a half (13th April) and we have plenty of time to figure out things, get participants, find an escrow, etc.

If you need any assistance, I'm ready to help. I'm positive we can get a decent amount of people to join in.
3473  Economy / Reputation / Re: Stake.com (SteveStake) is encouraging spam. on: February 28, 2019, 04:12:21 PM
They also have a merit contest with prizes. Check the last two topics for merit abuse in reputation, seems like they are going against one another:

Quintrix stake signature
wilburwilbur stake signature. Things backfired against PryptoMontreal (topic starter stake signature)who was caught handing himself merit from an alt account.

Overall, not well thought out campaign with low to zero control that encourages spam and indirectly merit abuse.
3474  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling poll on: February 28, 2019, 03:38:27 PM
My vote went to "Yes, every month" although there are months I place bets daily. Mostly betting on basketball games, as I have fewer bets in the regular season either looking for surprise wins or unexpected blowout losses that come with huge odds by taking advantage of various problems teams have (locker-room issues, trade rumors and more). When we get to the playoffs, my bets increase because I can prepare and focus over a series and have a very good win rate (lol i wish).
3475  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2018-2019 betting on: February 27, 2019, 09:31:32 PM
I'd skip this really, not because of Boston Celtics' losing streak, but rather because of their consistency

1) Boston was crushed over by the Raptors last night. Even though this game will be played at their home but playing back to back games that to followed by a big loss will be a factor

I'd like to chime in on the Boston/Portland game predictions. I don't think that being inconsistent and having a back to back games even if it's a blowout loss will have any effect them. The biggest problem Celtics have right now is their team chemistry, they don't seem to enjoy playing together/for each other.

Their lingering locker-room issues have been well-known for some time now. It feels as if the young Celtics does not like Kyrie at all and I don't blame them. Remember last season they reached ECF and were so very close making the finals. Now they don't get as much playing time and shots, not to mention that Kyrie called them out publicly mid-season, and now he is not giving any comments actin' all passive aggressive. I'm sure that rubs them the wrong way, it has to. Fun fact, they lost in five of their last seven games, two games Kyrie didn't play - they got a win.

With all that said and most people having Celtics lose tonight...I like to bet against the odds and say Kyrie scores 40+pts and Celtics win. (Blazers blowout win does not seem impossible either. Still a risky game, any way you want to look at it.  Wink
3476  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Announcing BPIP - The Bitcointalk Public Information Project! on: February 27, 2019, 03:26:28 PM
I'm not quite sure how SMF forums work, but it seems that sigs are automatically disabled without mods having to do anything extra.

If I have to speculate, the account is likely to be locked for security reasons (mod confirmed it's banned)[1], I should probably be better off pm a mod.

Still interested to hear about Unix epoch time though, is it an error?

3477  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Announcing BPIP - The Bitcointalk Public Information Project! on: February 27, 2019, 12:57:16 PM
In my routine search for plagiarists, I found an interesting case. Account in question is - https://bpip.org/profile.aspx?p=Hakamoto

Hakamoto is autobanned according to your website, but if we open his profile, we'll see an active signature. To my knowledge, all banned accounts have their signatures taken away. The other weird thing is the date account is archived:

Code:
1/1/1970 12:00:00 AM	Changed to Archived status	Autoban user

I'd like to know if he's actually banned, if not I have prepared several posts and I'm ready to report him.

I would also like to ask if all accounts banned before BPIP start receive Unix Epoch times or it's just an error?

Today's challenge;
Find 10 consecutive posts with no stake signature in the gambling section

Does 'Gambling discussion' count towards their bonus?

If so, I found a topic that has two consecutive pages with zero posts from stake signature related accounts.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5110454.120  Pages 6 and 7

3479  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: February 25, 2019, 09:20:06 PM
I think Fizzdale is still trying to get revenge of that "they rook us" game and always pushes his players to max when playing against Spurs.
Interesting way to look at that heh, he was so fucking mad with the refs not giving them foul calls Spurs were getting, was definitely a presser to remember.

Clippers should start to drop because they seem to be going with the tanking now (a bit late)
I agree, Clippers will sooner or later drop out of the playoff race, not because they want to tank, but for the simple reason that if they make it, they lose their draft pick that goes to Celtics, if they don't, they get to keep it.

Lakers should supposedly start to win a lot of games
Lakers should start playing defense for a change, otherwise, I don't see them stand a chance making the playoffs. Not with a 25th ranked defense and having the 4th hardest remaining schedule.
