3461  Economy / Economics / Re: The impact of Russian and Ukrain war on world economy on: October 17, 2022, 09:21:43 AM
Americans do worry about the Iranian drones and are trying to counter them in anyway possible. During the recent few weeks, a large number of Ukrainian military targets were hit with these drones and billions of USD worth of American and European weaponry went up in flames. And as per available information, Iran has transferred hundreds (if not thousands) of drones to Russia and the latter has vast majority of the stocks remaining. These drones (Shahed-136) have been a game changer, similar to the role played by HIMARs on the Ukrainian side.
It is worth knowing that these drones are already old technology and have been given to all Iranian allies in West Asia and also have been used against US targets in the region over the past decade. They are extremely effective and US has not been able to protect their own bases against them so far!

But it was destroyed ... almost nothing!
HIMARS, S300, all kinds of radars and anti air defenses, even MIG-24 are among the things that it has destroyed... Not to mention its regular use in Middle East to hunt Patriot SAM systems.

Quote
2. Low speed and high thermal "flare" gives them out well.
They can fly as fast as 200 km/h and leave absolutely no "thermal flare" because of their small engine and its type.

Quote
As a result, up to 85% of these drones are now lost. Shoots down from .. SMALL weapons / machine guns
You can't shoot down Shahed-136 with small arms due to its small size (about 2 meters), speed and altitude. Not to mention that due to the material used in its body it won't fall even if it is shot with bullets.

Quote
3. Drones have 2 guidance systems: inertial, low-precision and ... American GPS.
There are more than a dozen ways Iranian drones are guided, GPS is at the bottom of the list and that's even if it is on the list.

Quote
PS Yes, we know that the "second army ... of the fourth world" has already begged for ballistic missiles from Iran.
To be fair Iran has the strongest and most advanced military in the world but the source of that news about BMs is not reliable, same with the one about Shahed-136 drones considering that they were sold to Russia a long time ago (way before the invasion) to be used in the war against terrorism in Syria.

The real question is why isn't Ukraine buying arms from Iran and instead insist of receiving garbage from US? Of course the answer is clear: in the proxy war between US and Russia, US needs to control the arms that Ukraine receives in order to be able to prolong the war. In other words Ukraine is not allowed to purchase anything decent.
3462  Economy / Economics / Re: Wheat War I is going to be World War III on: October 17, 2022, 08:38:13 AM
This is sheer propaganda what wheat war is going to happen - nothing like this will ever happen.
LOL it's like saying "Russian invasion of Ukraine is sheer propaganda"!!!
Things that are already happening are not propaganda. The food war is already happening just like the invasion of Ukraine. The only thing left open for discussion is whether this food war is going to lead to more armed conflict to which I say there is a pretty good chance it does.
Russia invaded Ukraine - took away all they had. Even food and their utensils so that they die of hunger
But that is temporary - and this would not make another war. This is for sure. There is so much support Ukraine already has gained from EU - ofcourse they should step fwd to help them with food crisis. Not only to put sanctions on Russia to pull Russia down
Food war is way bigger than Russia-Ukraine conflict and that conflict is only a small part of it.
For example China has been buying and storing all the grains they can. Last I checked they had stored more than 60% of all the grains in the world and were still mass purchasing.
Most countries halted their food related exports or halted then resumed at a decreased capacity.
Europe is desperate for food that the small shipments Russia released from Ukraine ports was swallowed whole by Europeans.
US has been stealing the Ukrainian grains from their ports as much as they can despite them being a big producer themselves.
There is a serious shortage of fertilizers going on in the world because of this war that is going to lead to a big decrease in farmers' yield next year.
3463  Economy / Speculation / Re: what is the bottom of this bear market BTC on: October 17, 2022, 08:21:58 AM
The poll is intentionally rigged to suggest that there must be a big drop to a much lower price (-25% dump) whereas there is no reason for it to happen specially since the past couple of weeks have proven that despite most the world economy going to shit, bitcoin doesn't want to go any lower than the current price. Wink
3464  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency should be infused to academic systems on: October 17, 2022, 08:13:47 AM
Cryptocurrency should be adopted as a course of study in academic systems worldwide, from basic classes, through the higher institutions.
I disagree mainly because the topic doesn't fit in the existing system. Each aspect is either too specialized or doesn't need a course in academia. For example the technical aspects (cryptography, network, database, etc.) are special topics and are already general meaning they can only be taught to programmers and some of them already are. The other aspects are general too like the economical aspect of bitcoin as a currency or altcoins are risky useless version of penny stocks.
3465  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Altcoins? on: October 17, 2022, 07:19:05 AM
Bitcoin  would be a safer investment because of their adoption. Moreover, altcoins are very risky. But I have invested in some Altcoins and they have the potential of yielding better ROI. I guess it's your call. Do not invest without doing proper research.
You can also go on a gambling site, make some bets on dice rolls and make better ROI but that doesn't mean it is a good idea to do so.
That's pretty much the summary of the altcoin market, specially the token market. People are making bets on short term prices of these useless coins/tokens and cash their "chips" out if their bet succeeds for a profit. Calling it an "investment" is wrong.
3466  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What makes Dev different on: October 17, 2022, 07:09:33 AM
1. What's the best marketing strategies to be taken in order to launch your own Crypto Project, With real Utilities and broad development
If you want to create a "product" then you would create a completely useless token and sell it to gamblers and make profit. In this case you need marketing which is pretty much any type of advertisement you can think of from signature campaigns on bitcointalk to ads on social media.
Obviously this is referred to as a shitcoin and dies soon.

But cryptocurrencies are not products to need marketing. If they have a utility they will be adopted automatically. Think of how bitcoin works. Nobody advertised bitcoin but the adoption is increasing simply because it provides a real utility that people need in real world.

2. What's the best means of separating yourself from the Multitude of project developers out there. By showing off to investors that you're here for them and this is who you are. Totally different from the mode of operandi of countless dev out there. As you stay committed
Do what Satoshi did, innovate.

Quote
3. Having spent time reading about the disadvantages of KYC by one of the senior Bitcointalk moderator. What's the best options or step to take by projects developers and owners in relationships towards this aspect.
KYC is defined for centralized projects/services not anything that is decentralized like bitcoin.

Quote
4. Will a project be considered by investors as potential. if it's launched by a person under the age of 30s.
Nobody knows how old Satoshi is and yet people adopted it.

Quote
5. What are the factors to be considered before launching a project
You have to ask yourself "what new thing am I bringing to the table". If you are rehashing the same ideas by copying another project then you are creating another shitcoin.

P.S. all your questions are very disappointing because you are asking things that are irrelevant to creating a new project with potential.
Some real questions would be:
What innovations do you have in mind?
What problems does your project solve and how?
What cryptography algorithms are you going to use and why?
Is there any similar cryptocurrencies to your project and what difference are you going to make?
3467  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance Provides $500M Loan for Bitcoin Miners on: October 17, 2022, 06:43:06 AM
To be fair, I think Binance already supports the BTC ecosystem more than I expected.
What kind of support has Binance ever given to bitcoin?!!!
An altcoin exchange that is used to list all kinds of shitcoins to be pumped and dumped (including the biggest scamcoin of all times BSV when it had high volume) is harming bitcoin rather than helping it.

Lest we forget that when Binance was hacked they contacted multiple mining pools and offered them payment if they performed a 51% attack on the network to reverse the transaction that was stolen from them. Nobody complied but they still made that offer.

Quote
they support BTC by offering 0% trading fees
Last time I checked Binance they still charged a fee for all trades and reduced it if you owned BNB.
3468  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: btc address on: October 17, 2022, 06:29:51 AM
so, i do find there is an address holding 24 btc and got transactions from some suspicious addresses.
can I report this address or red flag it so that the scammer can't transfer the money anymore?
No because bitcoin is not centralized to have any option that would prevent anybody from spending their own money. The only possible scenario is if a government pressured a centralized service (like a shop accepting bitcoin payments in that government's jurisdiction) to refuse receiving payment from a certain address. But that still can't prevent the owner from spending their coins or moving them to a different address then making the payment.
3469  Economy / Economics / Re: The impact of Russian and Ukrain war on world economy on: October 16, 2022, 06:25:54 AM

Instead of worrying about who speaks what where you should worry about the bad advice the American military is giving your troops that is leading to their loss and destruction. 3 much needed aircraft were destroyed based on that bad advice trying to use million dollar planes to shoot down a $10k-$15k drone! At least one of them was confirmed to be hunted down by the very drone it was trying to shoot down!

Basically US is treating Ukraine as a lab rat where they test strategies they have been testing elsewhere and failing! They did the same exact thing in Saudi Arabia and lost half a dozen planes there too.
This war is not going to end as long as Ukraine is being treated as the "experiment field".
3470  Economy / Economics / Re: Germans are looking to firewood for energy as natural gas prices soar on: October 16, 2022, 06:00:48 AM
This is one thing that I don't understand. The easiest way to wreck Russia was to lower the oil and gas prices by encouraging the American shale oil and gas producers to increase their output. But rather than doing that, the Biden administration has been hell bent on harassing the shale oil producers, by imposing more and more regulations and taxes. As a result, we have Brent crude rallying to three digit levels, and LNG prices going up by 20x. Now the US as such doesn't have much to worry, as they produce most of the oil and gas that they consume. But the impact is felt more for third world nations who import most of their fuel.
There are two problems here, mostly the fact that all these oil and gas producers in US are in private sector and the government can not really force them to decrease their prices because they are loving the high prices and wish for it to go even higher so that they can make even more profit.

Secondly is the fact that the quality of both oil and gas that US has is pretty low which is exactly why it costs a lot to "extract" and make it useful it too. They don't really have much to say in the international markets where high quality oil and gas coming from Iran, Russia and Saudi sources are flowing.

Read it online that Putin has floated the idea that Russia will export more gas through the Turkstream gas pipeline running beneath the black sea to Turkey and gas supply to the Germany through the Baltic sea's nord stream pipeline were halted. A cherry on the top - for the Turkey they are ready to do it.
Germans are in trouble as the winter is approaching and fuel supply is limited.
That looks like an attempt to break EU apart and into little unions. Possibly going back to pre-WWII era.
An important question is whether US is going to allow that to happen. We saw how they blew up Nord Stream pipeline recently...
3471  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Altcoins? on: October 16, 2022, 05:14:28 AM
That part about centralization is true, but at lest when compared to stuff like doge or shiba, you're buying a coin backed by something. In case of ETH those are smart contracts built by it, so other coins depend on its health. In case of BNB you're pretty much buying Binance stock. I think both these options are better than actual shitcoins like bitcoin sv so I wouldn't put them in the same basket.
Ok. That makes sense. But I still think that the risks are the same. ETH or BNB are as centralized as BSV is. The only difference is that higher number of people have accepted that BSV is a shitcoin compared to those others.

Quote
Which altcoins aren't shitcoins in your opinion?
Any altcoin that has an actual use case and has some innovations instead of doing the same thing as was done years ago.
Unfortunately any altcoin I have ever analyzed has had some flaws, some bigger than others but if I wanted to mention one altcoin that is not a shitcoin and has some actual utility I would say Monero.
3472  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what is key differences between Bitcoin and tulip bubble on: October 16, 2022, 05:08:29 AM
Some people still asking bitcoin is the same as the tulip bumble.
I don't know where you've been hanging out but I haven't seen anybody ask this in years!

Quote
Tulip is a non-tech bubble and BTC is a tech bubble.
There is no bubble in bitcoin.

Quote
we can predict this has to be in another 100 years.
No we can't. The way technology is developing the gaps between massive innovations that revolutionize the world is decreasing so we can't predict what bitcoin is going to be like in 100 years from now.
We can only predict the short term. For example we know that for the coming decade or two bitcoin will dominate as the only decentralized currency.

Quote
There is another valid point that the last BTC going mined in 2140 or near year so for that period BTC should survive.
Again you can't make that prediction and your whole reasoning is wrong. Bitcoin doesn't survive based on its block reward.
3473  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto Currency should be Integrated into School Curriculum on: October 16, 2022, 04:59:29 AM
I strongly disagree. If it were bitcoin maybe but cryptocurrencies in general, absolutely not. Considering that most altcoins are useless scam coins that are only used for gambling (making bets on the price on exchanges) there is not much to be taught at schools. There isn't much innovation in them to make them an interesting topic either.
When it comes to bitcoin the innovations and the revolution that it created in the way we perceive currency is an interesting topic but I still don't think schools is the best place for it to be taught.
Besides, bitcoin is not yet accepted as a legal tender or even a currency in majority of the world. So there is a first step to be taken before we talk about integration into school curriculum.
3474  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for October on: October 16, 2022, 04:14:22 AM
There are too many people who are afraid of price being lowering that fast,
Are there really?

Whenever we see someone talk about price drop there are two reasons for it.
First are those newbies who bought bitcoin (and are still holding it) and are worried about it dumping (or dying) because they read some FUD so they are afraid of the price drop and it is visible in what they say. These people are known as weak hands.

Second are those who have already sold their bitcoins and are hoping for the price to drop more so that they can buy more bitcoin with the fiat they are bagholding. When they talk about being "afraid of price drop" they are pretending and are telling others their wishes.

We currently have more of the second group than the first.
3475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: USDT address check on: October 16, 2022, 03:39:08 AM
If you are using the Omni layer on bitcoin blockchain, then there must be a bitcoin transaction with an OP_RETURN output in it. The bitcoin address you posted has not received any transactions ever.

You can check this on any bitcoin block explorer and see the outputs for yourself (if there is any transactions). To know the validity of the payment on Omni layer and the respective balance you'll have to use an Omni explorer like the following although I can't vouch for their correctness since I don't use them:

3476  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC NOT BACKED BY ECO SYSTEM on: October 15, 2022, 07:22:26 AM
Mostly correct, although I would argue that algorithmic stablecoins like Dai do have some use - for example as a means to save money in countries with an unstable currency like Argentina.
I disagree because even in those cases people should stick to real fiat currencies instead of an extremely high risk token created on a centralized mutable blockchain that promises to have a stable price with no guarantees. Not to mention this token itself is controlled by a centralized organization.
Besides MakerDAO is more of a lending platform than a stablecoin, and the price of the token is subject to the market volatility of the shitcoins like ethereum it relies on. We saw this specifically in 2020.
3477  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Altcoins? on: October 15, 2022, 07:09:12 AM
You want to be safe, you buy gold.
You want some risk in your life, you buy Apple stock or Coca Cola like Warren.
You want some more risk, you buy tech stocks.
More risk? Get Bitcoin.
Even more? Get ETH or BNB.
Want to go crazy? Buy some shitcoins,
ETH and BNB are both considered shitcoins so you should have included them in the last category not a separate one above that. In fact both of these coins are more centralized than all the other altcoins, for example BNB is 100% controlled by Binance and can be shut down, frozen, reversed, ... if Binance owners decided to or a government ordered them to.
3478  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Inflation and why bitcoin? on: October 15, 2022, 07:03:56 AM
The problem is that bitcoin price is not decided based on its value but instead it is decided inside centralized exchanges. Considering the fact that the order books aren't that packed inside these exchanges (which makes the market small in comparison to others) and the fact there we have a lot of weak hands who thought bitcoin was an asset and was supposed to make them rich overnight, we can pretty much expect very volatile market where it gets dumped for no reason during times of economical crisis.

But the fact remains that bitcoin is deflationary due to its capped supply and considering that the adoption of bitcoin is constantly increasing the price should go up in the long run and we are currently behind schedule for that rise...
3479  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Are dices for generating seed words fair? on: October 15, 2022, 05:01:57 AM
i don't know if i follow the logic about the "false sense of security" thing. in typical applications like say converting a bitcoin hex private key into a wif format, you are dealing with a 32 digit long hex number. like this one: 8147786C4D15106333BF278D71DADAF1079EF2D2440A4DDE37D747DED5403592

now the point is that you treat it however you want to but just because you assign more bits to each character doesn't mean it has more security. there are only the same number of such 32-length objects no matter what naming convention you use thus it doesn't matter how you represent them with regards to how many bytes they use for storage purposes.
There is a difference between using a different encoding and actually padding the bits you have with arbitrary values, and you are confusing these two.
Padding is when you add extra bits to for example if we are only producing 3 bits 1 with padding is 0b00000001 and the next value 2 with the same padding is 0b00000010. If we add these two we get 0b0000000100000010. But actually encoding the bits you have produced without padding will give you this: 001+010=0b001010

The hex you posted from a private key was produced by generating all bits in each byte without needing any pads. To do the same padding in this base means producing something like this: 0x008100470078...
3480  Economy / Economics / Re: Germans are looking to firewood for energy as natural gas prices soar on: October 14, 2022, 04:23:13 PM

It is not the German only - it is the whole world which is dealing with so much trouble
Businesses are collapsing and industries are shutting - there is depression and despair everywhere.
And I don't see anything fixing in coming days.
It is not the whole world, it is most of the world and the severity of the problems is wildly different from country to country. For example the effects in Iran are very small, in fact our inflation has significantly decreased alongside the unemployment rate as the industries are expanding and a lot of new factories opened up this year.
There are others like this too, last I checked Indian economy was improving too with their stock market booming. Some small positive news came out of US too where they are trying to decrease unemployment and how they tried to decrease the domestic gas price to some extent after they blew up their LNG ports.
