3462  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How does distributed transaction log get stored? on: August 05, 2014, 12:33:49 PM
Bitcoin a P2P protocol. So, I assume there's no central server keeping track of transactions. Then where does distributed transaction log get stored? How does a new client pull transaction log to the local system?

You can think of it as BitTorrent file which is periodically updated (once in 10 minutes on average) and everyone who runs full node is both downloading and seeding that file
for as long as they are connected to Bitcoin network.

I have exchanged my 0.2 BTC worth of XCR from maxmint escrow (bonus was 29 or 30%) to Bter and received 22846.2409 XCR - can someone confirm it is correct amount?

It has been confirmed Cryptsy will be adding Med any day now.

Thanks! Now if Bter keep up with their promises I would be able to finaly get rid off my MED client - I'm not mining anymore and syncing is major trouble since it takes ages.
3468  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [TEK] TEKcoin sha256 PoS/Pow 40%+ SuperStake in 30+ days on: August 02, 2014, 06:19:06 PM
Just my 10 cent:
As far as I can tell, the last two proof-of-stake blocks were 467226 and 467227.
Block 467226 was set two hours into the future, i.e.
467225 blocktime 07/30/14 07:47:33 (PoW)
467226 blocktime 07/30/14 09:47:05 (PoS)
467227 blocktime 07/30/14 07:47:32 (PoS)

Presumably whoever mined that block had a system clock that was way off...

in main.cpp, nActualSpacing is calculated as the time that passed between the last two PoS blocks (which in this case would be negative!)
This value is then used for calculating block difficulty bnNew.
I'm not that much into the mechaincs of block difficulty, but I could imagine that this leads to an insanely high block difficulty for PoS minting (bnTargetLimit?)
Perhaps we need a failsafe for negative time between last two PoS blocks?

It can not be difficulty is calculated based on just 2 last blocks, that would be foolish. All cryptocoins use at least few hundred blocks for PoW and PoS difficulty retargeting.
And I totally doubt it took 467226 blocks for the first ever occurence of PoS block with timestamp in future.

I live for a day when developers will actualy launch a coin which is as promised in announcement. So far, the only non-instamined coin out there is also the first one - Bitcoin.
Any other coin was instamined and XCN is not exception. Developers who can implement killer features in their coin surely know what starting difficulty should they go with to
really prevent instamine but, as it can be seen again, that is actualy not in their interest. Nor it is in their interest to provide optimized CPU / GPU miners and 100% working wallet
at the very start of mining.

"The first couple of hours were bit of a bumpy ride, the first Windows binaries released were buggy and caused a bunch of mini-forks to break out, preventing Windows users
from participating in the network until we released a fix."

Pathetic scumbags.

You're freaking out over very little, almost nothing.  The percentage of coins affected by the bumpy first couple of hours is vanishingly tiny, and certainly no reason to set your hair on fire.  I think you may just want to FUD and earn ch33p coins!   Wink

Everyone had an entire month to learn Linux, rent VPS/botnets, and familiarize themselves with the Cryptonite software.  You should be congratulating Freak and Cat for their mini-blockchain implementation, which is a triumph of bleeding-edge technology.

Satoshi instamined Bitcoin BTW.  That's why he so rich!   Cool

I think it is really bad for cryptos overally that guys who are already sitting on big piles of BTC opted for noob scammer retoric and techniques to get even more BTC. You really
should be ashamed.

are you joking ? How many people were running on bitcoin at start... It is certainly the coin which has been the most intamined

Listen retarded noob, you need to learn how to read blockchain explorer data first in order for you and me to have any meaningful debate on the matter. Until then just STFU.

The altcoin community should be about innovation, not a select few people making a quick buck. Our goal was to break out of that greed driven trend. Cryptonite had no pre-mine, no IPO, the difficulty adjustment algorithm is designed to adapt quickly and prevent instamines

Here is Mindfox's Address(just a couple XBC from everybody and he'd be a happy man!)

XBC: BKL8KYuHorBp1QHx3LtKEGmHGQbJus4wUW

... and just like countless times before I'm the only one who sent some coins. Just pathetic. Even you BEEF who bragged at Poloniex chat about having 3k or more XBC didn't
send anything. And where is poky and other XBC pump and dump morons now?

Suck a dick, lamers.

aliases - i'd rather not do that. even firstbits seemed like a dumb idea to me. i can guarantee it'll end up like the coinbase's aliases (at least i think it was coinbase) - a fake sean's outpost charity alias registered within minutes and "the ceo of bitcoin", to name a few Cheesy

So what? But NVM, I see no one here wanna innovate even a bit so I'm out, enjoy YAC under 100 Satoshi very soon - well deserved.

... and below we can see BEEF kicking the shit out of Poloniex trollbox moderator, sort of.

Well, in defense of Mr. BEEF here... Is that he has a great sense of humor that some people seem to misunderstand.

Second of all, up to this date, he is the one who has actually come up with some of the best (and serious) long term ideas so far. Believe it or not.
So I think you just misunderstand his entertaining and refreshing cheer for lack of substance, but actually he is a pretty damn great and intelligent fellow.

Poloniex trollbox is usualy boring until BEEF, a grandmaster in caps lock and ending up banned, shows up.  Grin

Awesome job with those pics, BEEF, can't wait to see more!

Substrata: Are you in again?

No but I'm having few buy orders down below 0.0005 BTC, if filled great, if not well I have missed many chances to make money around here, one more won't hurt me overally.  Grin

I'm hoping instead of dropping in price like all coins do..........it blows up exponentially.

Problem is deals like one here are extremely risky - as if cryptos are not risky enough already - because main players are either bad with PR or deliberately play insider games. From
complete silence to 1 XBC = 1 BTC might sound awesome but 1 XBC = 0.00000000 BTC is more likely outcome. If you have plans then you post about them, make some buzz. There
is no need to go extremely crazy about it, just post unbiased info - even if partial - so everyone involved can make some (trade) decisions. But no, the way XBC and many other
communities are doing it is silence until no one really gives a damn anymore then "BIG NEWS COMING, BIGGER THAN UNIVERSE, BUY NOWWWWWW!!!" and then news turn out to be
of little importance. So basically a scam, an insider trading. Or it ends up in almost everyone holding, trade volume dropping and finaly coin ends kicked from exchange. All that just
proves you main players don't care about long-term value nor you know how to build something that will maintain value. For you, all this is basically a binary option, either you buy
a yacht in a month or you end up with nothing and that is exactly the reason long-term investors like me don't wanna participate in your games - at least not for over $10 invested.
