3481  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: USB ASIC ERUPTER - Setup & Config. BCG Miner, cgminer, Hubs "oh my"! on: June 03, 2013, 05:05:36 PM
Has there been any discussion on how to overclock an Erupter to achieve the 392 mh/s friedcat mentioned being possible?

If it is, it must S/W controlled.  I've looked at the stick, I don't see any place place where you can adjust the voltage/current like on the blades.

I heard it regulated the W on board.

So IF say you plug in a 6.5v transformer into your usb hub it may just regulate it down to 5v.

I'd like to see it done though.
Wonder if it will blow anything on your computer through the USB connection to it though???

did someone on this group 4 ask me to hold off shipping their group 2 order and ship when I receive group 4 delivery from friedcat?
I thought there was, but now I can't remember? should have written it down...

I think it was bruce willis

I'm afraid to take that chance. Might forever be lost. Coinbase has a comment section but not signed so i have no idea what their sending address is. I was able to get the transaction hash but the sending address i guess is theirs.

I'm guessing if you use Bitcoin wallet you own the sending and receiving addresses?

"snipped"

I mailed them and response was pretty quick.
Help page has contact by mail on right upper page.

Yes on owning the addresses...

I can confirm it does not work with the Anker 10 port hubs with the PI.

I have some posts getting 45 of these to work on the PI here starting here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=137934.msg2345214#msg2345214

Can anyone confirm if the Anker 10-port USB hub works with RPi?

Thanks! Added note to main page.

I used Coinbase to send funds and now can't send a signed message using bitcoin wallet as i don't have the private key for the sending address. Is there a work around?

Good to know since I just transferred from my bank.
I will transfer to a blockchain account or BitcoinQT then make payment.

Did anyone figure out how to run it on a mac?

There is a mac only thread here somewhere. Try there.
Please let me know what you find out.

Did anyone else make payment from a blockchain.info address and, if so, are you having trouble getting your signed message verified for this group buy? I've now signed my message twice in blockchain.info, tested the signature in the brainwallet.org verification tool, and then sent to Canary but he says they don't verify in QT client? I checked in my own installation of QT, and indeed the blockchain.info generated signature is not verifying in QT (however it does in brainwallet). Very puzzled and not sure how to proceed because, as far as I know, there is no way to import an address into QT which is quite problematic here since that appears to be the only way Canary verifies signatures...

I had an issue. There were no blank lines.
All I can think is the Page I was on was not connecting to the server.
Maybe close out & try again?

...snip...

IF I had one in my town I could use it.
Features as hours from 8am-6pm and closing 2pm on Saturday for small business is very helpful.

Ah.  For me, the lobby is not open past 4, but the drive through is open until 6.  They do close at noon on Saturday though.
I like that "snip" feature Smiley
If I deposit a check by ATM before 8pm it clears the next day. Very handy when you work late...
The drive through till 6pm could work for me though.

Get a load of this:
Cap1 and Chase both hooked up with BTC and dropped them HARD hoping they could Break BTC.

Fuck them then... find a local credit union.  You'll get better features, lower fees, and better customer service.  I never understood why people continue to use the megabanks when they are obviously creating problems for the economy.

I'm in a small Town.

Don't get me wrong BTC IS the future and scares the h***l out of the banksters.

Coinbase has a 6-Day waiting Period!!!
Once you make the purchase from your checking account you Cannot Use the Bitcoins FOR 6-DAYS!
It' like having your money Seized!

The waiting period is not a set number of days.  You get the BTC as soon as the ACH payment clears.  You don't expect them to let you withdraw BTC before they get their USD do you?  At least you can lock in your price, vs other methods where you wait for the USD to move and hope the price doesn't go up while you wait.

Oh, and I'm from a small town too.  In fact, we don't have any nonlocal banks.  Nobody here wants to bank with a huge nationwide bank because history shows it is a bad idea.

Only if coinbase had mentioned that simple fact...
My research found they are trying to change that soon.

They give you an over estimate on the time when they show you the details and ask you to confirm.  I'm not sure how they could make it more clear, but if you have a suggestion of a better place to post the terms I'm sure they would appreciate feedback.

The two smaller banks I used to deal with were bought up by the nationwides.

It would be great if Credit Unions went Local. Like one in every town.
One problem is many Credit Unions don't offer the services the banks do.
If somehow they got together to offer competitive services that would go a long way for many on the sidelines.

What features are you looking for?  With mine I have free checking with 1.77% interest and refunds of any ATM fees.  There is no minimum balance.  I have access to free online bill pay, but I don't use it.

In my experience, credit unions have much better options than banks.

Canary,

Will you be putting a #5 Group Order together that closes before the end of this week?

possibly...  I will see how Monday/Tuesday goes with batches 2 & 3. I may take a day or two off though after batch 4...

You deserve a break!

What is the shipping time like ? When do you expect to receive the units once you place the order ?

Based on the first Order:
Payment was sent on 27th
Some received them as soon as 31st
However all depends on where the weekends/holidays are in relation to orders....

Base on the Second Order:
Payment sent on 29th
As of the 31st:
Package at CINCINNATI HUB, OH - USA to be delivered to Canary possibly Monday.

why is the HW error so high on erupters?

What I have discovered so far is that some are expected and others are due to too much heat. I have also seen posts noting conflicts with certain software and USB3.0 Hubs. Last I saw is patches were being developed and by now may have already been completed.

Let me know what you find out.

Any recommended pools to run a couple of these things on (i.e. for small fish)? Smiley

3499  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: USB ASIC ERUPTER - Setup & Config. BCG Miner, cgminer, Hubs "oh my"! on: June 02, 2013, 11:41:49 PM
I started mining with my Erupter / Raspberry Pi yesterday.

I'm running the hard-float Raspbian image (2013-02-09-wheezy-raspbian) from raspberrypi.org on my pi.  I liked MinePeon but when I tried it there was no way to upgrade the system other than completely rewriting the SD card with a new image.  I had trouble getting my wifi working with the arch linux image from raspberrypi.org.

I'm mining on the rpi with cgminer v3.1.1.  I downloaded a tar of the tagged version from github (https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer).  Build dependencies were installed with apt-get.  I had to set my LD_LIBRARY_PATH so that it could find the jansson library.  I'm using the following hardware-specific cgminer options:

  --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100 -S /dev/ttyUSB0

I have this Manhattan hub (http://www.adafruit.com/products/961) which I would not recommend for Erupter mining due to the layout of the ports.  I'll be replacing it with the DLink DUB-H7 mentioned earlier in this thread.

Thanks! ........ Info. Posted.

To simplify matters I will wait till an hour or so before Group Buy #4 closes out and then send you everything at once.
