The new fan for the 5870 has arrived and is installed. Applied some fresh MX4 and thermal pads and its hashing again like new. As it will keep doing until one of the window shoppers actually buys it

yours was incorrect anyway (at least if mine was correct, S1E13) Have to say, this is the easiest 0.5btc Ive made this year. I googled "power rangers computer virus", then hit video's, and it was the second result. Took all of 1 minute plus the time to watch it .

he said if you can get a good quality clip and point him in the number ( Time of the episode where they did it )
I'll pay .5BTC if anyone can find/get a good version of this clip. .3BTC if you can at least point me to which episode this was in. Meh, I was thinking more of an actual file and I wouldn't really consider that HQ, but I also don't feel like splitting hairs so much so I'll send .2 more Received, thx a lot. You can download it using : https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/video-downloadhelper/

Well, you could make it virtual, as in a huge order causes slippage but the price resets on the next time you get an update from Gox. On the other hand that would only lead to people dumping a million of single Bitcents instead of 10k BTC at once... The goal of the game is to test your market prediction abilities, not one's (theoretical) ability to manipulate the market with a huge amount of coins or dollars. The game should work as well with $50 base capital as it would with $5000.

The Vulnerability to mining monopoly has been edited, I was quoting the way it used to be. The article doesn't mention a weak network. ....
This section is still the same; A pretty harsh way to describe your little brother:
Pyramid Scheme Since the aforementioned reasons mean Litecoin has no future potential, it effectively functions as a pyramid scheme, rewarding those who get in sooner at the expense of those who adopt it just before it finally fails (and are left with nothing). This is not the case for Bitcoin, since it has significant potential to become a long-term currency and continually be beneficial to adopters no matter when they begin using it. ^^^ How about someone edit that and see what happens? I dont believe in LTC, but that wiki paragraph should be edited or removed. You could make the exact same argument against BTC to call it a ponzi scheme; That bitcoin has "significant potential" whereas LTC might not, regardless of its merrits, is not how you disprove a ponzi. LTC might be grossly overvalued, its no more a ponzi than BTC is.

Are trades executed against existing offers or just against the latest trade price? Meaning: Is there slippage?
Against existing offers, so there is a spread. However, I dont take depth in to account, so if there is an offer on MtGox for 0.1 BTC, you will be able to sell all your coins at that price. There is no way around that really, if I would take depth in to account, then my prices would begin to diverge from MtGox.

Heh, if you want my 128mb of ram VPS that I have, I'll sell it to you for $5 a month. I haven't used it in forever.
Anyways, is there a prize to the winner?
Eternal fame and glory, bragging rights,.. I dont plan on paying prizes out of my own pocket. but once its working and there is enough interest, I will probably let players play either for free (no prizes) or pool like 1 BTC per week or month, and the winner(s) will collect the prize(s). As for the VPS, thanks, but I just ordered one. Barely more expensive and lots more Ram .

will there be a option for privacy? this could be abused to display/leak/identify someones trading strategys (just had this worst case scenario, well there are probably worse than this ) anyway, count me in if you start it. that could be a funny thing. Hadnt considered that. I could keep actual trade history secret (well, to all but the player and me) , but the result should be public. Meanwhile I finished the dynamic charts (quite happy with them) and applied a tiny bit of eye candy. Updated screenie above. I will probably need a host for this tho, my new provider's router/fw is a real nightmare. Anyone know of a cheap mysql/php provider?

Im working on a (fairly simple) bitcoin trading simulation, called GoxGame. The idea is simple; every player gets a certain amount of virtual dollars and can use those to trade on a virtual exchange which follows MtGox prices more or less in real time. After every 2 weeks or so, a winner is declared and the amounts reset. In order to make sure people actually trade rather than buy and hold, players will receive a penalty if they do not meet a (to be determined) treshold in trading fees (set at 0.6%). Players will only be allowed to register with their forum names, so 1 account per forum account. Here is a screenie of the WIP: About the chart: The chart is updated in realtime. You can click the legend to show/hide various elements. Depth 2500 shows the price swing 2500BTC would cause in either way. Also note you can download the chart as bitmap, vector, or PDF if you want As for trading, history, ranking limit and stop loss orders are being worked on. I will also make something to visualize how you are doing compared to others You can have a look here: http://goxgame.sytes.net/demo/Chrome recommended. If you have some good ideas I may not have thought of, feel free to share.

Under load they will be somewhat close, but the C2Q should idle considerably lower. Anyway, thats your choice. Ill add the p4 so you have something that works, you can always replace it later. But id rather not send the cooler, because its massive copper beast.

I am offering USD, sorry forgot you are a EU user. I am researching the cards more since I posted and I would like to resubmit my bid as $90usd per 5850 and $110 for the 5870's. I am not trying to lowball or go back on my offer, I just noticed that they are going for cheaper than I remembered now elsewhere. 1 btc for shipping in one box seems fair. Do you have any mobo's or risers or extension cables or anything as well?
You are going back on your offer, but as I said, it was generous and this one still seems fair still. As for riser cables; I have 4 PCIe 16x to 16x cables and two 16x to 1x cables (to use in a pcie 1x slot) If you buy the whole lot for the above price, I will add them for free on top of the new fan for the 5870. Or we deduct the price of the fan and you order it yourself. As for motherboards, there is only one I can offer, a socket S775 asus P5N32-E SLI which has 3 PCIe16 slots and 1 PCIe1 slot. It will come either with no cpu, or an old Pentium 4 3 GHz (which works fine, but I wouldnt recommend using it if you pay for electricity). There is 1.5 GB ram installed. This board is running now for 4 months without reboots with the three 5850s.

well its easier with arduino I dont know about easier, but arduino boards with ethernet and usb/wifi that Ive seen cost more than a Pi (and they are not going to do double duty as HTPC).

Hey all, I wonder if there is an interest in a dedicated raspberry pi based device that lets you follow gox (or other exchanges). Im looking in to the possibilities of the following options: - Basic LCDSomething like this But in a prettier case that will just scroll gox prices and volume. - low power LED projection (night)This would work like a projection clock: Realistically this will only work in a relatively dark room and will be limited to 4 digits. But it would be very neat to run in your bedroom, project the gox price on the ceiling at night, without being as bright as most displays that would keep you awake. - Persistence of vision floating displaySince I cant find commercial providers for this, this will be by far the hardest to accomplish, but also the most eye catching. For those who missed the hype a few years ago, this is a POV clock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYNgomrDePo- LED signYou all know what these look like: Available in all sizes and for indoor and outdoor, but the programmable ones are surprisingly expensive. Since Id be using a Pi, other than showing exchange rates, the device could do double or triple duty for just about anything, from file server to alarm clock to internet radio (if you connect active speakers), to media center (XBMC), to display email or tweets or bitcointalk forum posts, or well, you name it. Rough price targets; Pi with LCD and buttons in a nice enclosure: ~120-150 euro Pi with LED projector: ~150-200 euro Pi with POV display: unknown. components are cheap however. Pi with LED sign: depending on size, ~250 - 500+ euro I wanted to add a poll so you can vote which of these, if any, you might be interested in, but it seems like I cant, so I will just read your replies.

I visited the site a few weeks ago and was willing to buy, despite my doubts about its customer support; however all the items I was interested in (nothing spectacular, a sata drive, a spare android phone or tablet, and something I dont remember) where either very, VERY difficult to find, not available or seriously overpriced.
Bitcoinstore is a bold attempt, but its probably too bold at this point, especially when its not executed better than this. Just accepting bitcoin isnt enough.

I wont lie, thats a generous bid, even if you are bidding dollars which I assume. Id have to weigh them to be sure, but I think for ~1 btc I can ship them in one box which makes for almost exactly 10 BTC total. Shipping would take ~5 days. As for the fan, it still hasnt arrived and I cant say if it will be a few more days or a few more weeks, you would have it much quicker if I just a buy you a new fan on ebay thats shipped from the US. If you buy all my cards, id be glad to.

We should do better than that, and create a speculation game/competition. Everyone starts with 100 virtual bitcoins (is that an oxymoron too?) and trades them using mtgox prices. After a few months, we see who comes out ahead.
That sounds like a fun idea, but also sounds like a lot of work and would be hard to keep everyone "honest". In any case, I'd play and just sit on my 100 coins why would it be hard to keep them honest? And yeah, it would be a bit of work, especially if you want to do it right, but a basic implementation might not be that hard. I think I will look in to it anyway.
