3501  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 15, 2015, 04:10:10 AM
How can I check how much watt my second PSU has ?

And yep I know the ''sad'' story about the S4. Thats why I'm hesitating to push it more or whatsoever.

It's specifications are 1400w gold, which means pulling ~1555w measured at the wall when maxed out. I don't suggest pullsing more than 1300w DC from them if you want any sort of reliability. That would be approximately 1444w at the wall.

And if your wondering on watt's.... be careful on using a kill-a-watt on these.  One early mistake I did  when getting mine was using a kill-a-watt... it was not pretty it now instead of white has a brown mark between prongs.   It's not made for this kinda watt's.

But guess I was lucky to catch it and no real damage done.  Just was a little scare.

Today was a CRAZY DAY again

+25.7%

That is a massive and scary number to see.  I honestly never thought I would see these numbers again, thinking the network was big enough it would be to hard to do.... it appears I am wrong.

Multiple companies pumping out ton of gear... and we get this.

i hear scrypt.cc are still going strong if it still payed out ive got 6-7 btc sat there i really hope they get the 2.5 billion gpus mineing again soon lost a lot there biggest mistake i made fortunately genesis and hashnest are still going strong

p.s if there are any campaigns to find the bastards from scrypt let me know either legal or not id be up for it

Don't use them... obvious scam look at calculator it shows this for 1000 MHS:

Total MHS: 1000
Total Investment: 0.11000000 BTC ($43.89 USD)

Daily Income: 0.00141389 BTC ($0.56 USD)
Monthly Income: 0.04383059 BTC ($17.36 USD)

Break Even In: 78 Days.

Monthly Rate: 38.46%

No one is going to ROI in 2.5 months.... it does not happen like that anymore.  Yet they have a calculator without difficulty changes at all to lure people.  Huge red flag.

i bet chelsea over corner kick today 0.035, but i lose all my bitcoin. my paid from signature campaign all gone  Cry. i must stop betting now, but its to hard. tomorrow i get some bitcoin, i hope i will get back my btc

Don't do it by gambling.  It might feel great when you win.  But almost everyone loses long term.

There is a reason for term house always wins.   And if you do really have to gamble for enjoyment do something like 1/3 of earnings from sig campaign.  You will be a lot happier in a year of 2/3 going to btc address vs a year of gambling it all.

Moderation is key in a lot of things in life.
3505  Economy / Digital goods / Re: $200 Worth of iTunes Code on: December 15, 2015, 03:07:59 AM
How much for all of the codes?

Make sure to get proof of cash being used.  Also this really needs moved to digital goods.

Itunes cards scare me a lot.  If they are carded they will lock your account which if you have had for years like me is a scary thought.
3506  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: December 15, 2015, 03:03:29 AM
Phillip is doing an excellent review on the 2K IBM PSU with higher voltage for both Avalon and S7 so really excited to see the results on whether he's able to keep these Avalon at the 3.7-4K TH stable with the 12.7 Voltage.

I got bored with the middle volt setting of  12.23volts   and I am now testing 12.56 volts  my garage is 88f and outside temp is 63 f normal temps outside at night in NJ for dec are 42f.

so 8 minutes at 12.56 volts  and i am doing 3950 for each avalon 6.

Pretty impressive overclock.  Thanks for sharing.

Do you happen to have the wattage used during that test?  And it's getting cold here to. It's going to get down to 40F here tonight.  I'm starting to need less big fan's running which is a good thing.   A little less overhead.
3507  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 15, 2015, 02:25:14 AM
I'm pretty sure it would be easier to tally how many are still working instead fo how many have died. Doubt there's more than 30%* still functional.

*Figure is, of course, pulled out of my ass

I guess i was lucky I only sold mine a few months ago ran through a hot summer, and no problems.  3 out of 3 ran good and did not have bad PSU's.

And they were pushed in summer.  So not the best conditions compared to winter.   But I could have been lucky.
3508  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The best cloud mining site !!! on: December 15, 2015, 02:23:09 AM
hashnest has a great option if you want to quit u can sell all your inventory

Also they are one of the couple out there that are not a scam.  That is bigger then being able to sell  There are 2-3 I trust out there.

Very few are good out there.  Do lot's of research before investing. Also make sure it does not sound too good to be true.
3509  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Overview] The one thread to link them all on: December 15, 2015, 02:18:45 AM
It seems that 'Beyond Internet' in the Technical section isn't available to users such as me. Which sub-forum is it in?

Was probably removed for some reason.
Well it isn't in the mod log, so must've happened quite some time ago. Here's a cached view in case someone is interested.
Edit: Having a look at the cached thread, seems the thread was mainly spam

I guess the other thread by Jappa was deleted as well. I always wondered what that was about, but some of the links were actually helpful. Anyway, removed that as well.

He was just huge on project.  I from first time he mentioned it in hardware said he did not stand much of a chance.  He thought he was going to make some new solar power panal.... for cheap... that no one else had did.  He just would link to ton's of white papers on technology.  He had 3-4 posts of it on forums.

He promised a coin in a week, and coin would help pay for his new solar..... guess what coin never came.  I wished him luck... he said he didnt need it that he would be successful.  I hate being wrong sometimes but to think you will make a altcoin and create a solar farm from coin..... this is why so many coins are pump/dump.  Luckily this coin never even made it to pump/dump.  The coin never made it.
3510  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 15, 2015, 02:14:16 AM
Yep, a proper PSU could definately unleash them. I used DPS-2000BB PSUs with mine when I had them, ran them at about 2.5TH/s each.

Only reduce if you don't care about the PSU dying.

well this what i'm asking...if everything ok from the numbers I shared...could I try to overclock it some more too.

It varies is the anwser some PSU's were better then others.  I ran 3 for a long time had 2 of PCIE one with the poles.  But I did OC at times and had no issues  I was lucky the PSU's worked great and never had a issue.

Some PSU's are not as lucky if you push it... yes more chance of pushing psu and it dying.   This is honestly a personal decision as it varies so much.

Allright thx.

Your welcome!  In most cases it would not matter.  But some of the S4's PSU's were not up to spec or pushed so hard they died.

One thing I would be interested to know is how many still die.  One would think those PSU's that were not up to spec most have died.   So thinking about it a lot bigger percentage of S4's should have a good PSU as they have ran so long.... but I could be wrong.
3511  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buying Bitcoins with Personal Checks? on: December 15, 2015, 02:09:05 AM
Can checks be revoked? That would be bad because you can't get back your bitcoins right?

You're fine after it clears, which is why this is a kind of an issue. It takes time to clear, so this would be a very slow way to buy bitcoins. Therefore its going to be a very unpopular way of doing it.

Not necessarily true there are a few possibility's that might be rare but can happen.  Say someone is writing checks and forging name of someone else might pass... and person notice on billing cycle.

There are other ones two.  But yes clearing does help with most issues.

When a check is cleared, you are guaranteed to keep your money, because the process of clearing the check is verifying if its a legit transaction in all aspect. Clearing is not equal to receiving your money. You actually receive the money before the check clears.

This is because the banks legally have to give you the money within a week, but it actually take longer for a check to actually clear. So while you will receive the money after a few days in your account, if you want to legally spend it, you have to wait for the check to actually clear, which can take days to weeks longer.

Because this literally takes forever, people don't use check for this. The seller would have to wait something like 3 weeks before releasing the BTC. This would be pretty pointless for the buyer as well.

TLDR: Using Personal checks is bad for Bitcoins. But i guess a certified check would work fine.

You would be right in most cases.  I just don't believe in saying 100 percent all is true.   In most cases yes clearing would be great and your all set, but I think of flaws.

Say a payment from a check comes out that you did not authorize it's possible to get cleared by bank, you don't notice till next statement.  There could be different reasons for this.   Low possibility of it happening but it is not unheard of.

But I can see your point on it being right almost all of the time.  And I could be wrong I am not a banker so in no way expert in checks.
3512  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Paypal vs. Bitcoin in the Marketplace on this forum on: December 15, 2015, 01:59:13 AM
The marketplace here use the Bitcoin usually because it's the Bitcoin's forum, and also Paypal with its chargeback feature isn't as safe as Bitcoin.
But you can visit the exchange section and ask there if you need to exchange paypal into bitcoin

The hard part is also the timeframe paypal covers is normally long.  I mean you might think it's all good and a week later person claims their account was hacked... can get money back.

That is very scary as BTC is not reversible.  A week later you can't get that BTC back.  I would never sell BTC for paypal to be honest.
3513  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did you earn some bitcoin today? on: December 15, 2015, 01:55:28 AM
Favorite time of the week.  Signature campaign day, which if used right truly benefits all.

Also regular mining... with btc value going up it is a great time to be honest.
3514  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to collect BTC ?? on: December 15, 2015, 01:53:41 AM
I would like to collect some bitcoin from faucets. I know it is a little. But it is a good starting point.

If you choose to do faucets, make sure you use a rotator as well. It'll help boost earnings.
Yes I am new to this result rotator week could reach the 40000 satoshi if done regularly
It could be a recommendation and I also just try

Still your talking about pennies per hour.  It is just horrible pay.  You can make so much more by spending time learning a skill that is sellable.

Later you will use those skills such as coding, artwork, etc.  Anything sellable is better then faucets long term.
3515  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Looking for bitcoin solo miners or pool owners on: December 15, 2015, 01:47:07 AM
I am looking to buy two yet to be mined virgin blocks.

I am willing to pay up to 55 BTC or it's equivalent in USD through mutually agreed third party escrow.

Purpose is for bitcoin collectible. I would also be interested in an pre halving virgin block of 50.

If I were you I would move it over to pools forum.  I think you will get more reading over there.  There are some very active pool admins, and some not so active.

But move post there and you will chances are find 1 who will do it.

Nope, all systems are go.  It's a piss-poor piece of hardware is all, I'm just glad it hashed at all, the R1 as a controller has made it much more tolerable.

I admit that the R1 from crazyguy made my life a lot easier.  I love automation and not touching it.

I have 3 and I had to  every monrning... every night.... reset the zombies.  And I would miss lot's of time with them  being zombied.
3518  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antrouter R1 Case short on: December 15, 2015, 01:39:00 AM
Well I found the problem.  It turns out all the power strips I tried had grounded enclosures.  So when the metal of the case touched the grounded metal of the power strips it would energize the case.  I attached it to a normal wall outlet without issue.

Glad you found out what it was.   Hope it works great.

I have have one no issues with shocking.  Do you know if the shock as from case or possible surge protector?  I would try on a different surge protector if not on one already.

It is odd that it would be able to build up shock through case and still work.  I would think you would have some issues.

I'm not always crazy Smiley I did suggest on trying another one all surge protectors, and power strips are not equal.
3519  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: December 15, 2015, 01:36:39 AM
I still love this Quiet hard working Avalon.  I have the EVGA PSU FAN facing the Avalon and it actually cools the half facing it.  The other side is quite hot.  So far so good, I reboot it quite a lot to test and the box is very consistent and solid.

The sound is nice.   Once your done testing you will run for quite a while.  I'm testing mine to see how long.  But a few day's ago I made it over a week.

So once set you really can leave it turned on for a while.
3520  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New to mining and wanting to start with it. on: December 15, 2015, 01:25:49 AM
Well, I was actually referring to Rubberduckie, guess I should have been more specific.  He stated he made $500 on $700 of electricity, so I was wondering what he was paying for electricity.  The more specific question is what electrical rate makes it economically feasible to mine?  I guess this would also be related to the difficulty and the efficiency of the miner in question.

In addition to Difficulty and miner efficiency, the price of BTC has a major impact. When BTC price (as measured in USD) is high, then you get to keep more of the BTC mined after paying your electric bill. It's a complicated interplay of all those items, and they all influence the behavior of folks that are mining. The dynamics are entirely different now that BTC is roughly $440, than when BTC was $230.

Also the halving of the BTC reward for a block (down to 12.5 BTC per block). roughly in July of 2016, is starting to impact peoples decisions, both miners and vendors alike.

I like to pay off electricity with BTC.  Makes sure I'm not in too deep.  If you don't at least track it you won't know when it's time to sell and get new gen's.

But I admit if I thought was to cheap I paid some out of pocket.   I don't sell BTC when I think it's to low... but everyone is different.
