3501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the main reason for this bull market on: November 24, 2020, 01:12:05 AM
This is bull market but what is the main Reason?
Its strange in the middle of the world economic crisis!?  Usually economic crisis asset prices goes down... How come this bitcoin bull run started just suddenly?

Was there any inidicators before?

Investors of all kind, whales, average joe see bitcoin as a hedge against this financial crisis that's why bitcoin is being the best asset so far in this pandemic.

And then we have the halving, so even if we have this pandemic, bitcoin will come to a bull run no matter what. It's just the picture is just magnified 100x because we are in the middle of economic crisis. So there is a 4 year cycle that has just began in 2018-2019 bear market and then 2020-2021 bull run, its inevitable.
3502  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Liquid Exchange hack: cyber actors stole personal data on: November 24, 2020, 12:50:51 AM
Just a follow up to this supposedly hack, it was actually the an attack first on the hosting provider GoDaddy in which exchanges like Liquid, NiceHash, Bibox.com, Celsius.network, and Wirex.app.

The criminals used social engineering attack on GoDaddy's employees,

Quote
A domain hosting provider ‘GoDaddy’ that manages one of our core domain names incorrectly transferred control of the account and domain to a malicious actor,” Liquid CEO Mike Kayamori said in a blog post. “This gave the actor the ability to change DNS records and in turn, take control of a number of internal email accounts. In due course, the malicious actor was able to partially compromise our infrastructure, and gain access to document storage.”

In the early morning hours of Nov. 18 Central European Time (CET), cyptocurrency mining service NiceHash disccovered that some of the settings for its domain registration records at GoDaddy were changed without authorization, briefly redirecting email and web traffic for the site. NiceHash froze all customer funds for roughly 24 hours until it was able to verify that its domain settings had been changed back to their original settings.

So once they are successful with the attack, they were able to change DNS settings, of crypto related exchanges in short take control of including the data of their customers.

3503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SEC wants to regulate ICO's on: November 22, 2020, 11:20:55 PM
What is so hot about this news? LOL. SEC has been eyeing ICO's already.

Just look at how many cases they have been filing on ICO's every since, I urge you to check this board and see if for yourself Legal.
3504  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: November 22, 2020, 11:00:31 PM
Anyone surprise by this news? Donovan Mitchell agrees to 5-year, $195M designated rookie max extension with Utah Jazz.

I think he deserves it though, Jazz is building their team around him and I would say that he is the leader, just wish he could stay healthy and reach max potential to bring the Utah on top of the Western Conference. It won't be easy, but with this challenge he can elevate himself to at least on top of the MVP discussion this season.

Not surprised at all because he was the leader of the team. What lacks though is the support cast around him. There is no one to lead the team when he was injured and most of the team are very inconsistent. So they need to surround Mitchell of good bench and role players to put Jazz on notice in the Western Conference.
3505  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First it was Coinbase, now its Poloniex - unexpected downtime during BTC upswing on: November 22, 2020, 10:38:42 PM
Not sure if all of this was due to lack of professionalism or there is something shady going on here. Although, am not a conspiracy theorist, I find it hard to believe it was caused by high traffic.
Coinbase is the second biggest exchange and poloniex is the 12th, how didn't they expect such a rise in traffic and why they didn't get ready for it (knowing this is not the first time this has happened) and who is going to compensate traders for the losses they suffered during this downtimes?

No one is going to be compensated during unexpected downtimes, the traders themselves will suffer the consequences, just the nature of business of this exchanges. Accept it or move to other so called reliable exchanges you think of. For conspiracist, this could be intentional on part of Poloniex.

Anyways, the big question is:

[1] Should exchanges held liable for this unexpected downtimes during bitcoin spikes?
[2] How about cloud hosting providers, if they are the causes of this downtimes, should they be also liable?
[3] If exchanges are then liable? how can traders be compensated?
3506  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]Canelo Alvarez vs Callum Smith Super Middleweight Title on: November 21, 2020, 12:06:28 PM
I'm also loving the fact that Callum Smith is the underdog because I will give him the a good chance to upset Alvarez. Don't underestimate Smith here, he is too big for Canelo and has the punching power to crack that granite chin. Sooner it later it will be broken and I think Callum Smith will be the one. If there is already opening on sportbet.io, I will have Callum by KO/TKO or ML.

Good choice but the seeing the last fight of Callum which was not impressive, i will bet for Canelo. Smith bing too big for Canelo, can't be KO'ed and that is why i will go for Canelo via unanimous decision if the odds is attractive enough. I have now the impression that team Canelo have chosen Smith for his December return because of the latter's not impressive performance on his last outing which can be considered as cherry picking lol.

It won't be attractive odds for Canelo, either ML or via UD.

Yes, they have factor what Callum have shown in the last fight, there are boxing fans that says Callum lost that fight. Either way, it could be cherry picking or they think that Callum is a good stylistic match up for Canelo and showcase his strengths again and retain his pound for pound rankings.

3508  Economy / Speculation / Re: When do you think it will be a good moment to sell some of my bitcoin? on: November 19, 2020, 08:56:32 PM
The last ATH price is around $20k, so it there is a better time to sell at least half of your stash is that when we reach a new ATH, perhaps $25k-$30k will be a good start and then see how it goes.

Why? It's pretty obvious, as a investor you should be looking at the best way to make profit and should be selling at a new ATH, it's a break out. Another strategy would also include selling in parts, 25% at $20k and then 25% at a new ATH.

3509  Other / Beginners & Help / Liquid Exchange hack: cyber actors stole personal data on: November 19, 2020, 12:15:26 PM
Not sure if every one is aware that Liquid Exchange has been hacked:

Quote
What happened?

On the 13th of November 2020, a domain name hosting provider that manages one of our core domain names incorrectly transferred control of the account and domain to a malicious actor. This gave the actor the ability to change DNS records and in turn, take control of a number of internal email accounts. In due course, the malicious actor was able to partially compromise our infrastructure, and gain access to document storage.

It's good that no amount of money is lost, however, the cyber actors where able to harvest "included real name, home address, emails, and encrypted passwords."

So for those who have an account in Liquid, and haven't change their password and emails, please do so.

And since the hackers have stolen the email addresses, expect a lot of phishing emails, similar to what happened to Ledger breach wherein in the last month alone, we have seen phishing emails and there are people who have fallen for it.

The most dangerous and scary part is the "5 dollar wrech attack", since the hackers were able to obtain the real and physical address of the users.

3511  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin be Trade at $318,000 by End of 2021? on: November 19, 2020, 10:27:55 AM

Is there any truth in what Citibank Executive said? What  do you think guys?

Just like you and me, it is just a wild and educated guess from someone from Citibank. And since they have embrace bitcoin or at least very positive about it, I wouldn't surprised by this statement.

In any case though, you may want to get this very interesting thread by @fillippone, Stock-to-Flow Model: Modeling Bitcoin's Value with Scarcity, this model might give traction to his prediction.
3512  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why you should NEVER buy Trezor one on: November 19, 2020, 06:59:43 AM
Even though with the advancement of technology, we can't discount the fact that we will encounter a lot of problems just like what happened to you. And I'm sure that support will always be there to help you out. Why not reach to them? Or maybe you can post your problems in their official reddit/telegram/twitter so that someone will help you out?

In any case, Trezor saved my after robbery. How ironic that according to you, it was a life saver, but now you are bashing them.  Cheesy
3513  Economy / Speculation / Re: Congrats to everyone for reaching $20k again. on: November 18, 2020, 11:12:03 AM
I'm just opening the post in advance.

It's been a long time HODLing, not selling a dime.

It's been worth it.

Cheers guys!

Smiley

Hmmm, people are getting scared to sell. I wonder if this is a sign. Lips sealed

It'll be interesting to see how this thread ages, compared to your other thread where you had planned to sell at the old ATH. I'm very confident we'll reach $20K again, but I also sense a lot of greed in the market right now, and that a brutal shakeout is on the horizon.

Other reads on sentiment, with price having just touched $18.5K:

I have noticed a surprising lack of bears trying to call the top.

Bitmex swap funding has remained positive for 2 weeks. Predicted funding rate just jumped to 0.08% on today's pump.

Fear and Greed Index is currently at 91. Extreme greed. How high will it go before a classic Bitcoin shakeout?! Stay tuned.....

I can't remember what is the greed index during the 2017 bull run, but I'm guessing its close to that number as well. But assuming the numbers is correct, I will reckon about 70% before we can see a huge shake-out? hehehe. So lets see a run to $18.5 first.

3515  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I just poked that GUY on: November 16, 2020, 11:37:39 PM
A few months back, when BTC dumped to nearly $3200 (or it is $3800) at the beginning of the corona outbreak, a guy from my local who is now living in UK had posted in his facebook that "This is the end of bitcoin. I knew it has to be someday, there it is." I had nothing to say other than asking him to do his homework before doing such speculation. Well, I just have remembered that post and spent a few minutes to find that post and poked him the screenshot of 1 BTC equals to $16602. Guess his feeling now  Grin

I don't know if that is a good idea though, seem that you are rubbing it in.

You could have said "I told you so",  Grin

In any case there's a lot of haters of bitcoin really and even though it has reach it's top in 2017, many are still no-believers even if we reach $50k or $100k.
3516  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Kell Brook vs Terence Crawford November 14 on: November 16, 2020, 01:01:19 AM

Yeah, but once he has caught by Crawford, I don't know it looks like he quit. But after the fight he said that he didn't see the punch. But he made no excuses, and Crawford proved his doubters wrong again. Also Arum said that he is willing to set up a fight with Spence anytime.

The fight between Crawford and Spence should happen, the battle between who is the best welterweight is on between these two fighters
so they have to settle once and for all and who will remain undefeated and who will rule as the undisputed welterweight champion, both have the same characteristic, they analyze their opponents and are slow starter.

You're right, either of the two will hurt their legacy if they don't fight each other. I don't know if Arum is true to his words, but he said that the money is there in the table for Spence to fight Crawford. But they wanted fans or live gate sales, and it is not possible in this pandemic unless there is a vaccine already. So that there will be no safety protocols anymore and we are back to where we are before this virus.

3518  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HODL ₿itcoin for Life, not for Lifetime. on: November 15, 2020, 02:41:49 AM
The problem is timing the market, when we are going to sell? Do we see the top already? So it will be difficult until it's too late. I was in the crypto sphere in 2017, prior to the bubble but I don't know if we have reach apex at almost $20k or if we can still squeeze as investors or traders or so called experts are putting a narrative of $50k tops. So I guess we really need to understand what will be the new heights of the next bull run and see how much profit you can make.
3519  Economy / Speculation / Re: Calling top at $16500 (Even Newer!: $2483 bottom 19 Feb 2021 MtGox said so!) on: November 14, 2020, 10:54:35 PM
^^ Just for the record though, the "March 2017 from nearly $1,300 to $900" was due to the supposedly ETF filing by the twins and the hope that it will get approved by SEC, but it was rejected, hence the price goes down abruptly. As for the "late 2017 from $19,666 to $3,124", we are already in the bubble phase.

But currently @16,500 it was not even the top, so bitcoin being a speculative asset, we still have a lot of leg room to wiggle so I would say that it is still not the top price that we have seen.  Grin
3520  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Targets for 2020 on: November 06, 2020, 12:58:55 PM
Well we have seen Bitcoin nearly touch $16k last night, with that in mind what do you think is in stock for Bitcoin for the remainder of 2020? Do you think we will see it break past $20k?

Bitcoin went from $10k to almost $16k so there's a big possibility that we can see it break past $20k at the end of the month or early next year.

But it's just the beginning, there are models around that bitcoin can go as high as $50k or even $100k, so I would rather hold and continue to accumulate and not worry about the price as long as it is gaining, just saying.
