3501  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where the F*%^ did my BTC go? on: March 17, 2021, 04:10:03 PM
@findingnemo, I remember who refunded the transaction and they are also trying to help; with no luck thus far.
After looking at your transaction then it certainly going into an exchange wallet but can't be able to find the actual name because not all the addresses are revealed by the exchange to public. But you can count the number of reputed exchanges available and try to login with all of them and let's see your luck?!
3502  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where the F*%^ did my BTC go? on: March 17, 2021, 02:59:39 PM
Hi all.  I recently received a BTC refund and I've NO idea where it is.  I've signed up for so many exchanges but as I'm an American living in Ireland, I usually have to delete my account.  Is there any way to see what exchange the BTC is sitting in by using the address it was refunded to?
From where you actually received BTC? Refund from where?

Do you remember anything?

Did you ever heard the wallet coinbase which is also exchange so my guess is just try to login to coinbase with the mail you remember and lets see is there anything left.
3503  Economy / Reputation / Re: 1xbet Luring out non-crypto gamblers on: March 17, 2021, 12:59:06 PM
Money speaks louder than words in the modern world so the user need to be careful with the people who they are trusting. Most of the YouTube content creators will ignore such offers because it can even take down their channel if more people become victims and reported the contents of the channel.
3504  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: -Newbies- watch out for these on: March 17, 2021, 11:56:35 AM
Scammers are way ahead than what we think, they started to create the fake clone sites to get the login credentials and fake wallets to steal funds rom people, these video concepts are very old but still people are falling for it quite annoying because its easier to know that those kind of doubling offers are completely fake but still people tends to send money and waiting forever for their double rewards.
Well, they might think they were in advance but with the same scam tactics repeated everywhere, I think most newbies have a slight understanding about it although they just need enough time to do their own research and understand the situation. But of course, if the person is illiterate in computer and techy stuff they might be the first person to get scammed first.

It's always do your own research is the best way to avoid an easy money offer that you think it's kind of suspicious when any normal person wouldn't do with you. Just a little use of common sense and guts will tell you exactly what is happening.
I can say that more than 90% people who got scammer are well literate but when the scammer induce the greed they lose their mind and simply go for it without any second opinion so they are well educated doesn't mean they are knowledgeable it is something can be dealt with the experience.
3505  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why publicise your wallet address on: March 16, 2021, 06:55:00 PM
What necessitates wallet address publicity?

I know the bitcoin address is a public one compared to its key that appears to be private but then,

Is it really necessary to put it up in your profile?
Doesn't it feel like putting yourself in harms way?

I've seen a couple of posts talking about brute forcing a wallet by hackers and scammers in a bid to open it up. I'm yet to hear a success testimonial in the complaints of an affected user though i wish not for such thing but,

Isn't it best not to put yourself in harms way by not publicising it without due course?
Aside from brute forcing and other means of attempted hack, should your identity be compromised and the contents of your wallet is known, it makes you a target and that shit isn't fun.

So, what really is the reason behind wallet address publicity, is there a transparency to be proved or something else?
You no need to put your primary wallet address which is holding millions worth of BTC under your profile, even though if you did then no one is going to find you who actually you in real world because no one is going to use their actual name in the bitcointalk. And bruteforcing the recover seed is almost impossible because I read somewhere that even the super computers needs hundreds of years to brute force it.

Thanks for the reply.  Not sure if I'm misreadng/misunderstanding you.  Say for example I pay £200 into a broker account.  Forgetting fees, let's say I buy £100 of crypto.  So I then have £100 remaining in my broker fiat account and £100 in my crypto broker wallet.  Do the brokers not allow you to hold the public and private keys for the crypto investments you've made via them?  Apologies if I'm not understanding, however my preference is to hold my keys in my own offline wallet and for the broker not to have the private key.  Is this not possible?
When you say the world deposit means then there will be no control over the fees. The platform will allows you to withdraw at any time you want but they are going to release not by yourself. You can use peer to peer platforms which are completely decentralized but you cannot deposit any amount, you directly pay the seller's bank account and will receive cryptos once the payment was confirmed by the seller and escrow.
3507  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Avoiding banking challenges (how do you buy crypto?) on: March 16, 2021, 03:11:24 PM

1.  Brokers such as eToro trade in more than crypto e.g. stocks, currencies.  So if I transferred money directly from my bank to a company such as eToro which isn't exclusively crypto, is this likely to be flagged as a banned company from my banks perspective,

The reason why you are not banned from using this service is that they do not own Bitcoin or rather they do not sell you bitcoin, you get something that has the same value of bitcoin and when you want to withdraw, you are withdrawing your profits in USD and not the bitcoin.

in short, Not your keys, not your coins. Avoid it if you want to keep BTC for long time.

2.  To avoid this, am I better to use something like PayPal for my crypto transactions?
PayPal does the same, you cannot withdraw Bitcoin

If you give us more information such as your country, or the payment methods that you can obtain, we can give you the best method for you.

Some people buy gift cards for cash and sell them for Bitcoin which are anonymous and good for small amounts.

I'm in the UK, where I understand it's not illegal to buy and own crypto, however it's illegal to trade?  That doesn't bother me as my intention would be to buy and sit on my investment, trading in that sense doesn't interest me.  What I'd ideally like to do is:

1.  Create account with a reputable broker that allows you to retain your own keys (I'd want to go the offline wallet route.)
2.  Transfer money from my bank account to the broker, perhaps on a monthly basis to cover my dollar cost averaging buying strategy.
3.  When I then want to buy, I'd already have funds with the broker, so I'd be free to buy and sell within that environment.

I do still have some concerns, not sure to what extent these are founded, because you see stories online of people (within the UK and other countries where it's legal to buy crypto) having their bank accounts frozen when it's discovered they're transferring money to a crypto broker.  The account holder often has to go through a protracted process to get their account unlocked.  So I'm not sure if my above process could still present challenges for me?

I want to invest in crypto, however I don't want to rock the boat with my traditional bank account as it runs all my financial activities!

And I seem to be struggling to find many brokers that allow you to hold your own keys?  I don't want to use a broker that holds the keys, surely that increases your risk of losing your investment?
So cryptos are legal in your country so it is not stopping you from buying or using it as currency, so your bank doesn't know the source of income so they may put on hold until you submit the source of money and you are paying taxes on your capital gains if there is any. No brokerage is going to give you the keys to control your fiat account because fiat itself is centralized and brokerage is responsible for every kind of purchase is happening.

If the original post is deleted I believe that every comments under the original post will be gone as well, correct me if I'm wrong
You mean the first post on a thread right? Obviously yes because when the first post itself is against rules or offtopic then nothing to discuss anything further, just everything will be trashed and only the thread creator might be notified apart from that everyone have to keel track on their own or just don't concentrate on your post counts.

3510  Economy / Economics / Re: Can the average buying of some companies be considered a sign of the bottom? on: March 14, 2021, 06:13:33 PM
I have a theory that:

All companies that have bought Bitcoin will sell it at some point, and this point will mostly be this year.
Can we consider the average bitcoin price that some companies bought bitcoin as an indicator for our next bottom or ATH bottom, assuming that those companies will try to sell before they achieve losses?

Based on this hypothesis, my analysis of price is as follows:

New bottom 42,334

MicroStrategy inc. selling price: 24,114
Tesla, Inc.: 31,250
Can you give me a reason why those companies are about to sell their bitcoin investments? Which happened quite recently though and one year of span is not too huge in terms of companies perspective and I beleive they invested for very long term purposes.

Even if you are right 42K is quite far from the previous ATH which is 20K happened at 2017 but I thought it would go to such level as the lowest low before raising for next all time high.
3511  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: HITBTC withdrawal fees on: March 14, 2021, 02:46:41 PM
Withdrawal fee for Raven Coin is 199.95 Rvn at the moment. It makes 38 USD!
It's only 1 Rvn on the other exchanges.
I don't even see that coin has any volume on HitBtc exchange, if there is any then convert into any coin which is having lesser withdrawal fee like USDT tron-20 or any coin which is cheaper. But why did you choose that exchange Binance is having most of the trading volume for the particular coin you are talking about. Roll Eyes
3512  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Accidentally deposited USDT to ETH wallet on: March 14, 2021, 01:27:34 PM
Yes, I've tried sending them a request through the support page. Because they didn't respond to that, I also emailed them directly. I will keep the weekly follow-up in mind.

Thanks for your help!
Wait atleast for a week before making the another request if there was no support for them because normally they say the customer support will give response in 3 to 5 days but due to the bull run it can be extended more. But don't let the coin go away without trying because in some cases exchanges returned the funds which was wrongly deposited so if you have luck then it may possible.
3513  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: inactivity fee on: March 14, 2021, 08:46:22 AM

Are you sure about it?
As I was saying before, a lot of people were surprised when they found out even bitfinex or crypto.com are charging such fees and many others.

In my 2 years of trading career, I never paid fees for being inactive but as I said heard that local exchanges are having such fee structure which I came across exchanges section (I guess) but can't be able to find the thread now, probably they were moved to their local board.

Hi all.
Don't know if this is the right place to post - if not, just let me know.

I'm pretty new to all this and I'd like to understand some of this crypto-currencies thing...

Please help me here... -->

I have a wallet and I'd like to put some BTCs (or other crypto-currency) in it. My biggest concern is the fees and when/where they apply.
If I go to an ATM and I feed it with physical money to get my crypto-currency, do I have to pay some fees?
Would I use my crypto-currency to buy something online (same currency), are there any fees being applied?

Thanks for your help.
F.

You need to pay fees every time when you are making a transactions.

So in the first case, your are buying bitcoin from ATM means you are not going to pay any fee in bitcoin but generally the prices are more premium while buying at ATM than on exchanges so you may get less BTC compared to buying BTC on exchanges.

And when you are buying a drink using BTC then you need to pay the fee along with the price then the receiver with get the btc and the fee will go to the miners.
3516  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading View Plans on: March 13, 2021, 01:05:05 PM
It depends on you, I am not buying any of these because I am not a pro in technical analysis because it sucks most of the time. SO if you are good at reading charts and doing the trading as your full time job then go for the highest package available but for me free version is more than enough.
3517  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Lost Bitcoines In A Transaction to Coinbase on: March 13, 2021, 09:09:43 AM
So I have these in front of me now, and sadly the listed bitcoin address does not match '1Q6Boa9VQxxcCCNDKK1dennXSud1m5ALAc', hence I must have sent it to a wrong address right? All I can remember is that it was generated by Coinbase and that i copy and pasted it.

So your device is infected with clipboard malware which used to replace the destination address you copied with the address injected by the hacker. Your device might be having the issues now as well so the only option is to reflash the OS or reset to factory settings to avoid this atleast in future.
3518  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: My bitcoin is frozen at Paxful and they won't let me withdraw it on: March 12, 2021, 04:16:52 PM
I have been waiting for 1 year that unreasonable and now have to wait more? Can you imagine if I was just getting bad or I just really need the money if I don't have it I might almost die? there is day that I don't even have a dollar to buy something to eat and I was hungry as I will eat anything cross by my face but they holding my money like that. What kind of a platform that holding someone money like that unreasonable when they solved the problem already? you still think they are legit???
I can understand your situation but it is not going to help this process further speed up, you had chosen a centralized service and accepted their terms and then only deposited, now you have no other choice than accepting their response which could be whatever.

What country are you in? Was it caused by a bank error, If you are holding bitcoin in your Paxful Wallet and there has been no activity in your
account for a period of time prescribed by applicable law, we may be required to report
such remaining bitcoin in your account as unclaimed property in accordance with abandoned
property and escheat laws.

Read the topic before suggesting anything! Roll Eyes

3519  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Reminder for crypto newbies, traders. Be cautious with new exchanges on: March 12, 2021, 02:13:09 PM

That's a really crappy way to make a comparison. How do you know that centralized services aren't sending you money from random people whose source of income is unkown? Or that the money you get on a daily basis is also from unknown sources? Do you even know who pays your signature campaign and where their income comes from?Smiley
I think you need to calm a bit and analyze what I am saying, centralized exchanges are registered companies making payments from their bank accounts but while doing p2p we are receiving funds from random people we found using the platform, even though they submitted their KYC we can't actually trust that we are dealing with the verified person.

And about signature campaign payouts or basically gambling site payouts are not coming from unknown sources, those sites also regulated and we are receiving funds from their hot wallet not directly from other person's deposit means we are having someone in the middle between the transaction and gambling site will take responsibility if some illegal source funds are coming to their site.

I am not having any issues wither and also tried to login with firefox, Opera but still there is no problem on my side. Not using brave browser anymore because I don't trust their recent changes in their privacy policies so no luck on my side finding what is causing this issue.
