Don't forget that the mining software has been optimized to become 50% faster in 1 year.

Most of the work has been done by me..

in sept 2014, x11 was hashing at 6.6MHASH with the djm34 miner. This was just abit faster than on the 780ti(compute 3.5)..

in release 74 x11 is breaking 10MHASH easy on the gtx980 ...

19 sep 2014:

If only the market was still there for Quark... Right now it's Neo and Neo hasn't seen improvements in ages. The coins that use it also seem to be dominated by botnets using CPU miners.

that's because, probably, there isn't much room for improvement.
nvidia has been on heavy advantage compared to AMD for a lot of months, all of us enjoyed it to a good degree already.

Hello Vertguys, is it possible to mine with cpu nowadays? And what software are you using? I know, my question sounds crazy, but still  Grin

Since lyra2rev2, no longer: too much advantage for the gpus. Well, technically you still can, try tpruvot cpuminer.
3503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell kernels. on: November 24, 2015, 03:39:21 PM
my 5x970 rig draws about 900W mining quark (stock clocks), 850W mining lyra2v2.
about 65W with idle gpus.

Well since my great antec hcp-1300 died and it has a 7 year warranty I get a replacement free? Not. Antec's great rma services..it may be a month before I get a new one free oooo I have to pay for shipping on there free replacement. There process of getting a rma is fantastic ... 2 hrs before someone answers the phone that's great. And if I speed up the process they want a downpayment of twice what I paid for it. Yes ANTEC is a great company with fantastic service.

good to know. I'll be buying corsair. or the cheap lepa, so if it breaks not too soon I just throw it.
3505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Siberian chervonets (SIB) Algorithm X11-gost on: November 24, 2015, 09:35:17 AM
this coin seems to be very active in russian forum(s).

but not easy to follow in english, anyone might share some news of the last weeks for sib?

not easy to translate russian, google translator show me a mix of many words:)

do you plan to develop sib for not siberian/russian people too?

i saw you do many nice updates and much people mining it, is that true?

Last week was released a mobile wallet (Android) in beta test, this is not the case it will appear in Google play.
  • will be developed miner for Nvidia
  • release new wallet version 16
  • English website

Good. Please continue relaying the info down here ;-)

you do it because it's fun :-)
and what's behind, is that a heater? I assume you won't need it, then :-D

Is it still not possible to solomine with GPUs straight to the wallet?

For that to be possible you need to setup a private pool. Solomining in the wallet is only possible with the CPU and that's not profitable.

What about a stratum proxy, will it work?
3508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell kernels. on: November 22, 2015, 10:14:20 AM
is this miners complete? it can mine every altcoin out there no limit?
if not which one are missed?

There are so many around it's a very though question to answer. Let's say most of the popular coins are supported, except for example scrypt-Jane ones.

Yes all working now. I see the problem is at cryptopia now but without a block explorer its hard to check.

It takes a bit to show confirmed deposits on the exchange.

Good youtube video...I'm going to try that. Smiley

EDIT: No green wire...all black.  Roll Eyes  Cheesy
Got to get the schematic  of course not supplied  to do this.
Ps for all you young people  they use to supply the schematics for every piece of electronics you would buy.

a loooooooooooooong time ago (by the technology time scale) ;-)
I remember the schematics were on some TVs and pocket radios in the eighties.
3511  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell kernels. on: November 20, 2015, 02:39:51 PM
does anyone known what this is extranonce.subscribe and how to get rid of it

You can run ccminer with the -e switch to turn it off.
-e I don't know what that is.
sp do you have the latest readme file on ccminer ?
Ps contributions coming soon.  Wink
Got my new rig working again with 2  750ti....2 980ti .
EDIT: Electrical power line went down yesterday and burn out my new rig......... f#@&............ it will have to wait. Undecided

did you have some kind of power protection on that rig?
Didn't even have a chance to set that up......a long story short... didn't have the money to buy one yet.
I think its the mb.... I have a second on that I will be putting on the rig. Undecided

you can make a quick power protection box by using an old UPS, even with broken battery and low capacity, if it has some "surge protection only" plugs.
Ok I have a power protection but wasn't plugged in... it's a long story.

But I need to know if it is the psu or the mb.  Need to check the psu first.
EDIT: It is plugged into a watt meter but?
At this point I can't get it to start with crossing the power pins.

Sorry to hear about that.

Depending on your power supply and/or country I use this to test dead supplies. I have about 3 in my closet. Hope it helps if you have never seen or heard of this.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixcWCrYpw3Y

USE extreme caution
Thx  antonio8... I reread the specs on the psu and it has build in surge protection so I'm not sure if it's the mb or the psu.
Since the psu has this feature then it seems that any surge can't get to the mb....but?
The psu is antec 1300 watt platinum  joonyguru gives it a 9.9 out of 10.

may it be just a melt fuse on the PSU?
maybe it's easy to replace, even without opening the psu case, which would void the warranty.

Thanx a lot for info.

Update:

Wow!! I'm lucky. Just generated block with my single i7. In one hour of mining or so. Smiley

As far as luck goes, you could even generate a bitcoin block ;-)
Let's see how many coins you can generate over (at least) 24h period.

Is mining with wallet still possible for single i7 CPU?

    "difficulty_bastion" : 0.41396365,

I'd say it's a bit high for single cpu solomining.

We're actually seeing a lot of action on Cryptopia now.  It was dumped down a bit, but someone bought it back up right quick.

yes.
I wonder who sold at a handful of satoshis... he really needed the money right away Smiley

"I wouldn't be concerned with drawing 75W from an x1 slot if the x16's weren't already fully loaded.

How does that conflict with your statement?

I think I misread that statement. I thought it meant that a x16 slot can provide more power.
Maybe you meant that you can power up to 2 cards from a standard motherboard? Then yes: I use to say that up to three is safe.
3518  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell kernels. on: November 18, 2015, 10:08:50 PM
The main benefit of the BTC MBs is the ability to supply 75W to 1x slots which are normallly limited to 15-25W, which makes
the use of unpowered risers possible.

All the motherboards can provide 75W thru the 1x slots, it's by specifications. The rest of the pins do not provide any power.
The difference is that the BTC MB can provide 75W to ALL the slots together.

I don't have the actual spec but this seems to say otherwise...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express#Power

I wouldn't be concerned with drawing 75W from an x1 slot if the x16's weren't already fully loaded.
200W is the max draw I would put on the PCIe bus unless the MB is specifically designed for higher.

I assume you are reading it wrong. It says that the card can request 75W regardless of the type, even though it should be a graphic card; no mentions of the connector type.
Furthermore, the powered pins are all on the 1x part of the connector.

I have tested some more. Release 74 is using more power and heat, so the card trottle and performance is lost.
My test was conducted in a closed case rig with a EVGA superclocked card (2x 6pins power)

but my dev card:
The gigabyte 970oc G1 comes with 1x8 pin and 1x6 pin and doesn't trottle and give bether performance in release 74 than 66.

SP_, all 5.2 maxwells do at least 1500MHz under load. In open case, limiting factor is TDP. Nothing to do with power pins.

-edit

Testing how far I can go with reference 970. You need to give this baby almost +300 to get there (1500). Around 10500 kH/s mining lyra2v2.

-edit2

Same settings with quark, hitting TDP and only hashing about 17200 kH/s. TDP mod is all you need if you want to get all out of these.

It has to do with power pins: max TDP depends on how the card is powered. I have two kinds of 970 and the max TDP is higher on the one that has one 8 pin and one 6 pins instead of 2x6.
Furthermore, the power you need to reach a certain frequency varies based on a lot of variables like room temperature, efficiency of cooling, fan speed, the chip itself, etc.

Correlation does not imply causation. I have some cards with less pins that draw more power then ones with more pins.

for once I agree with you  Grin  the power is drawn (?) from the card, meaning it doesn't depends of the number of pins (however if there are not enough pins, the card won't be able to get what it needs to work... and/or the pins will try to carry a higher intensity than the one designed for...

Let's put it simpler.
You can draw more power if you have more pins, thus you have more chance of reaching a certain frequency.
