3501  Economy / Services / Re: DA DICE Signature Campaign 2.O - Pay Per Post & Fixed Campaign Thread on: July 07, 2015, 07:21:35 PM
Looks like the post count is frozen and ndnhc is counting at the moment.

Yep.

But it shouldn't be frozen.
The post count (in Enrollments tab) isn't frozen even when counting is taking place. The starting post count is updated when the payments are realeased and I get back online. Smiley  [I can do it, otherwise, but it is just an additional check to make sure no one gets paid the wrong amount due to some issue with referencing]
Use hard refresh in case it shows the same one. ctrl+f5 for win. Should work..

Yes, actually youre right. I meant more that you made a freeze of the post count because the tab "post counts" was cleared, which means you count and most probably no posts are summarized to the last week anymore. I know, this had to be misunderstood. Tongue
3502  Other / Meta / Re: should luke-jr be on Default Trust? on: July 07, 2015, 07:18:23 PM
How can luke-jr censor bitcoin with the code? Is it related to the mining software he develops? If so i think its not fine to censor that way since the websites arent scam if im not wrong. So yes, he would try to censor bitcoin by doing so. Even though he cant, it would be a try with a small effect. And thats not ok. Its not up to him to decide what transactions should go through i think. He isnt the bitcoin police.

So i think the ratings he gave are wrong since in fact he tries to censor bitcoin.

Tell me when i misunderstood something.

You misunderstood the relationship of authorship vs censorship.  If I write code, I have every right to write it as I please.  In these days of close-source proprietary software and people installing .exes on their windows machines without looking at the programs they're running, it's a little crazy to be going after a guy who offers open-source code for you to review at your leasure.

Quickseller is trying to smear luke-jr by throwing around these references to "malware" but it's not malware if you read the code and decided to install it on your machine.

What it boils down to is the fact that luke-jr, and anyone else, has the right to run his bitcoin nodes as he pleases and if people don't want to run their bitcoin nodes under his rules they're completely invited to write/edit/modify their own code such that their machines do as they please.  People who don't want their machines to do what luke-jr's software instructs machines to do are masters of their own fate with respect to what they install.   If they install something they din't mean to, it's not an act of censorship.

I first thought its about his cgminer of bfgminer or how his version was named. So its a node software under linux? Its still a mining software right, otherwise i would not know how he can block the transactions.

Yes, everyone can code software he wants. But it sounds like its not a software he owns, he works on it only?

Of course anyone can edit the sourcecode... when he is able to do that.

Though that all doesnt change one thing. He implemented something that in fact is censoring the network. Or how would you name it when random projects (does he not like them or what?) are blocked from being implemented into a block. That prevents that these projects can use bitcoin. Luckily not really because others will implement the blocks but at the moment it looks to me like a clear censoring. And even though he can implement it, for sure, every other person is free to say that this is not ok. Bitcoin should be free and thats it. Not arbitrarely deciding who should be able to use bitcoin.

Or is there actually a good reason for not implementing their transactions? Do they spam the network or do they anything where a sane miner would say that this is bad for the network and will hurt him?
3503  Economy / Gambling / Re: DaDice.com - Next Gen Social Gambling Dice Experience | Progressive Jackpot on: July 07, 2015, 07:10:33 PM
I had a question in mind, how many accounts can you level up as I have seen people with 5-10 accounts with 20+ level( 5k faucet).

I think multiple accounts are allowed as far as you are not "faucet farming" or any other activity they may not like, in worst case scenario,  you might lose all of your accounts at once. So steer clear of abusing and you will be fine.
Yeah just wanted to know where the line is drawn between faucet playing and farming. I think this is something to be included in the FAQ or something, I mean I even know some people there having multiple level 50 accounts(even saw a guy offering to sell one on bcttalk for 0.1).

Well, there is a line drawn to distinguish faucet playing and faucet abuse (farming). Our system is detecting multiple account from the same IP, accounts that are setup to farm etc. According to our findings and the seriousness of abuse, the faucet timer is increased from 5 minutes up to a maximum 30 minutes. In addition certain accounts are getting suspended, if we can prove that farming was indeed the case.

5 minutes to 30 minutes? Do you think it is too long for normal players like me? I seldom redeemed the faucet but I play with faucet, I don't farm other accounts or use many accounts to increase the faucet money.

That timeframe is only for faucet farmers that create different accounts and try to withdraw everything through various ways.

As long as you dont have more than two accounts you dont need to worry about a raised faucet timer.

In gewissem Rahmen.
3505  Other / Meta / Re: What's with all the new accounts named "`````", "^^^^^", etc? on: July 07, 2015, 07:01:34 PM
can admin not remove or restrict this account to avoid spam?

I don't think theymos will remove those accounts unless it is absolutely necessary. and those accounts probably got permabanned already so their IPs should have some units of evil allocated into them. they'll have to pay a small fee if they want to make a new account.

Those account owners will never pay anything. Its not worth for them. They created these accounts with lists of proxies anyway. The forum cant identify when they come back and try to create accounts. These softwares can create different user agents and what you can think of. Its impossible to block except you implement some rule like "no profile linke until out of newbie cage" or so.
3506  Other / Meta / Re: Connecting to BCTalk.org on: July 07, 2015, 05:35:32 PM
I have the same problem. Yesterday and today. Together with the the 503 error that happens all the time occassionally. But sometimes the forum gets very slow. This moves on until nothing moves anymore at one point and these testwebsites claim the forum is down for everyone.

I dont know whats the problem. DDOS?
3507  Other / Meta / Re: New Childboard in Market section on: July 07, 2015, 02:00:11 PM
I think there will be easily more than 40 threads. Not only the signature campaign threads but overview, question threads, altcoin signature campaigns, avatar ones, twitter campaign and so on.

It really would make some other forums look more tidy. I support that suggestion. Maybe name it "Advertising campaigns"
3508  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: So I dropped my phone in the water with all the 2fa keys on it... on: July 07, 2015, 01:57:52 PM
Not all services disable 2FA. You could be someone who hacked the account holders email. So i enable 2FA on my phone only that way:

Note down the code to create the 2FA (Usually around 30 or so signs) then manually enter the code in my phone. That way i know i noted the code down correctly. Then enable it on the website.

Everyone who did not note down the creation codes should disable and enable 2FA on all websites and note down the creation code. Otherwise you might not get access to an account anymore at one point. Some sites are strict there. For a reason.
3509  Other / Meta / Re: What's with all the new accounts named "`````", "^^^^^", etc? on: July 07, 2015, 12:36:04 PM
About a zillion of them were registered in the past few days. No posts. Is this someone's idea of a joke I'm not getting or do they actually expect to sell them?

I guess at least some part of their intention is spamming their web URL. Because those accounts are the first alphabetically they appear as soon as 'MEMBERS' is clicked. And guess what, their Website appears right there.

Considering there are 510,000+ users now I really think nobody cares about the list of users sorted alphabetically. IMO 'search for members' should appear when MEMBERS is clicked instead. The list of users should be a secondary option. That would save a click most of the times and would discourage people from creating spam accounts just to be first on the list.

They're idiots of they think it will work. That would put most people right off their website straight away. I mean who would actually say "oh look a spammer let's check out their website."

They dont do it in the hope that someone clicks the link. Thats a lower reason only. They mostly do it to rise in serps (search engine result pages. The higher you are placed the exponentially more traffic you get. Which means visitors, which means money.

They most probably used some spam tool like xrumer or other tools. There are various out there.

Its really only automated email creation, and automated account creation in order to place the backlink in the profile page.

Bitcointalk could avoid these spammers by allowing to add your url only after you showed you are a real member.

All profiles that didnt even make a post and have a url can be deleted too. They only have one purpose.
3510  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Coindice,Johny1976 Scam. Sell script with bugs. on: July 07, 2015, 12:18:08 PM
I wonder if the dice site owners know the kelly criterion. They never should raise the max profit over 1% of the house. So when 1 Bitcoin is the house then max profit is only allowed to be up to 0.01 Bitcoin.

If you dont follow that rule that you can be wiped out pretty fast. The kelly criterion shows how to adjust max profit in order to have the maximum profit with the least risk.

A security expert, i asked to check the code a bit, checked it and found:

I just had a look and this is awful code. Why is it all ajax calls? Why you not using websockets?
With even a little load this will bog down. You need to at least have a websocket server for doing all the communications like betting.
Even the chat function is ajax calls. This is bad design!

For 1btc, I suppose there can't be too much expectation. But if you are going to do something, do it right!

Also, don't you think there is already enough dice sites? Why do we need more?

As far as i know he says that an attacker could bring down the server because of the design. And that is potentially risky. Though he did not go as far as to attack a site really.

Jetzt sind die Gewinne ideeller Natur? Cheesy

Warum jetzt? Schon immer!

Venture Capitalists.

Was ich sagen will, klar ist Bitcoin immer ideel gewesen.
3513  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain split of 4 July 2015 on: July 07, 2015, 12:00:27 PM
Why is this taking so long to resolve?

Surely it is in the mining pools interest to fall into line? Or is there something more sinister going on?

Re stress testing I suppose it needs to be done isnt bitcoin still classed as beta or am I missing the point?

It actually was resolved pretty fast. (6 blocks ~ 1h)

I guess the news at the top of the forum, is just a reminder that you should update your client.
Theoretically this could happen again(I highlty doubt it, since pools/miners already lost money) and the only prevention is to use a up-to-date client(or connect to an up-to-date node)

It is clearly not resolved. Look at the forum header and you will see. Things are not "back to normal" if you have to wait for ~30 confirmation on many clients. This is ongoing as of now until the above warning is removed.
Sorry, for the misinformation. Seems like there was another split according to: https://bitcoin.org/en/alert/2015-07-04-spv-mining
So, miners are stupid enough to still lose money. Sorry, I assumed, they were smarter.

So this happened twice now in a row? Oo

When what is said is correct in this thread then couldnt that be used to attack bitcoin and lower the price of bitcoin? I mean presenting wrong hashes to these pools and letting them create a fork? I guess there is some failsaife built in as to which pools they watch but most probably they watch small ones too and someone could decide that he could earn some coins by shorting them with leverage and then starting the next fork?

They say no news is good news, But i think in this case they are wrong...

I have no new info so far, though i didnt ask anykeywhy. What i wonder is this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1077623

KNC moved all of their 9000 BTC? What does this mean? Is it done by the investigators to secure the coins or is something other going on.

Though i think if knc would move these coins on their own, there are enough users out there that would inform investigating parties about this. Not that they try to run with the funds or so. Hopefully its only to secure funds for refunds.

Thats the only news iam aware about. I guess ill write anykeywhy an email now and ask if he has any news.

Hi SebastianJu, did you managed to get any news from akw? Did he even replied to you?
Please update this thread if you have any info/news.
Thanks a lot.

I dont have any new infos as of now. Ill send him another email asking him to respond so that i can tell that he is there still at least.

Edit: Ill send him this link too: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1077623 Maybe its worth noting his lawyer about this. It might be interesting.

Was there another thread where i was asked if iam still in contact with anykey?

Anyway.... i got another conversation with him.

He told me that everyone who has questions should contact him directly. Maybe not by pm since it looks like he did not log in since some time.

But he did not vanish. I think thats important to note.

So can this be tested and is it useful for, lets say, predicting the development of forex markets or the bitcoin price? In the article it says they want to crowdfund, so is there an alpha version that one can use now?
3517  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: New bitcoin technology can tell banks where coins come from with incredible accu on: July 07, 2015, 09:31:54 AM
When you look up walletexplorer.com then you already know that much is possible. And walletexplorer isnt even going that far. Its knowing, not guessing at the moment. Its imagineable that this tool can be successfull.

Of course not when you take care not to allow connecting your bitcoin addresses.

3519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain split of 4 July 2015 on: July 07, 2015, 08:28:22 AM
Is something up today also....?

I made two outgoing transactions some two hours ago, and not a single confirmation. Here's one of them https://blockchain.info/tx/a7605fd21983365f62eee7bc547f4d25c4dfdb7e172866d639665a883439a587

As you can see from Blockchain.info - their is a stress test going on - most blocks are close to 1MB in size.  You put only 0.0001 BTC as fees - so just wait until your cheap transaction gets selected by the miners...

These stress tests are annoying. They will proceed until they showed what they wanted to show it seems. Roll Eyes

Yes, but as mentioned before they are useful as to know how much the network can handle.
Obviously it needs more stressing than that Wink

But it's good to know the "limits".
Don't you think?

On another note, I think the "fork of July" was more stressing than the stress test.

Im not so sure if the fork was more stressing since there were no real bad results from it. I guess most bitcoiners didnt even notice the fork.

Though the stresstest holds off the innerts of a currency. The free flow. I think its an interesting thing happening but they test it on THE currency. Not on testnet or something. (Yeah, testnet is not far enough developed.)
3520  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Purse.io - Bitcoin Amazon Marketplace - Save ~10-25% on Amazon Wishlist on: July 07, 2015, 08:21:10 AM
How does the Purse direct work with the 5% purchase? I have always been weary of purchasing from Purse due to the very real possibility of stolen credit cards, but I'm assuming if you buy straight from the company it's through legitimate means of purchasing my wishlist? Can anyone elaborate on the feature for me?

You need to have an address in the US, when you want to use that. And i believe you enter the product link directly into the form field. Not the wishlist. Then you can chose to buy with purse instant.

But im not fully sure since i cant use it. Tongue
