OK, I just installed it and it says beta. So is it the final release or a beta version?

I was using 0.8.4 before.I uninstalled it using windows uninstaller.restarted comp. Then installed 0.9.0..Its up and running already with all info from previous version. Is this normal?I thought It was suppose to install the blockchain again?
Yes that is normal you only need to redownload/reindex the blockchain if you were using 0.7.2 or earlier. I made it, and I think I have it. But ... what happened to the -datadir commandline? I need to redirect bitcoin core on another directory to load the blockchain ...
edit: datadir=<directory> is still in my .conf, but it still has to download all the blocks
I'm not sure what to tell you and Newar about this I've never had to use the -datadir command. I suppose if your wallet is intact and accessible by QT it could be worse. Like I said a few post back installing Berkley DB 4.8 may have something to do with this but you should check with someone smarter than me... I am guessing you are using windows? You will need to create a .bat file in your Bitcoin.exe directory and just have a shortcut of that on your desktop or something. @echo off bitcoin-qt.exe -datadir=X:\BitCoin That did the trick for me ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

As we can see in other countries such as Canada, to buy or sell bitcoin in this machine it is necessary to identify in the system with your national ID card (an easy process that you can do with an integrated webcam).
As we can see the governments are already trying to find ways to control BTC. Pretty soon all banks will be working with BTC and giving out loans based on your BTC deposits - Fractional Reserve.

The issues with BTC equaling gold as of now:
1. Length of trust. Gold's been around for millennia. BTC hasn't. BTC needs to survive for another decade before it can be trusted.
2. Complexity. Gold is simple to understand. BTC isn't. Even the vast majority of people that are technologically savvy either have no clue what BTC is, or barely understand it.
3. Copycats. Right now there's plenty of altcoins out there, with groups swearing up and down that their coin is the best and will become the currency of the future. BTC is the strongest, but as long as there are multiple competitors, it will never be taken as seriously as gold.
4. Reason for holding it. People hold gold as a safe hedge. Most people hold BTC because they're speculating about the future value.
3. Gold has other competitors too, including Platinum.

Gold is not similar to bitcoin. Bitcoin is much more flexible. Payments with gold are much more difficult and require actual movement of metal .
Also, Bitcoin is instantly divisible. Gold is not.

Is it even possible today or is the barrier to entry now around $10K?
It just seems that difficulty rises too fast to make a decent return. 9 months later you're making less than your electricity bill.
Has anyone here scaled up from a very small rig? What tips can you give someone that desires to do so? I'd like to plan things out ahead of time, and do my best to continue to build and scale until I'm to the point where I can rent space for the operation. I'd like for my son to be involved along the way, and to sorta show him the ropes at a very young age so it isn't alien to him by the time it's a common part of the global economy. I have disposable income, however I also don't want to be starving myself for something that is going to lose money.
I'm well determined, but any advice from the more experienced would be great.
FYI: (I bought an Antminer S1 and will begin my first venture into mining tomorrow after my power supply arrives)
Well Bitcoin mining is quite expensive indeed. But nothing is for free my friend ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) And I recom GreedSeed ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) this is very cool mining hardware. Gridseeds are for Scrypt mining. Get a few of them. But I would advice the S2 for BTC mining.

Never mind I got it, I am only running 110 g/hs instead of 180, any suggestions to up my speed?
If your miner status is between 160-180GH then you are fine. The pool speed takes some time to adjust.

I don't know what I have done for BTC today but what I can do for you is give you an advice: Learn to write proper titles and post something that is easier to read. Better formatting ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) Also, check what is up with your untrusted software.

I have to admit that I didn't read anything after the title because it said: Sponsored by Butterfly Labs.

OK. If I use ESCROW, the fee would be increased. That's a very good option. Who do you recommend as an ESCROW? I already placed an order to KNCminer. Once the fund is GB is successful. I will wire the money to them.
It is nice of you to take the liberty BUT, apparently so have I: The funny thing is that I didn't pay jack shit because this is A PROFORMA INVOICE! Nice try and I must warn you OP that you have attracted my attention. I will not go out to say anything at this point but I will be watching you. EDIT: OFFER ESCROWIf you can do that, which you probably can't, then that would be nice. You can have a respectable member who offers escrow handle the payments for you. Anybody reputable around here. Just add a bit more to your price and have them handle all incoming payments and send the money directly to KNC. If you do that, you will make a killing compared to the other GBs ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) EDIT: Remember Escrow means more customers ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
