3501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Cheap Node Self Hosting: Just because you CAN does not mean you SHOULD on: June 08, 2022, 11:00:20 AM
Personally I would like to see them get rid of the pruned node option entirely. It's just not worth it.

Most people tend to learn from their own mistakes. If somebody tells them, they think they know better.
This being said, people usually find out that pruned nodes don't worth it when they want to try out something and change the wallet. Cheesy
3502  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: "Trusted" member "MiLkZ" ask money for positive feedback on: June 08, 2022, 09:49:38 AM
Do you know that SELLING trust is not allowed?

Yes, that's why he's also shady.

Asking for positive feedback based on LEGIT deals worth WHOUSANDS of dollars is shady ? What kind of mushrooms do you actually eat?

I think that you're the one on mushrooms. No matter what trades you've made, it's 100% up to his discretion whether he gives you trust or not. That's how things work.
On the other hand, begging for trust is also not allowed and shady.

I have history of odd accusations? Dude, i suggest you to post when the pot drops you

I suggest you look into your own trust rating now and then.
Also this answer of yours just proved me that my decision to not hurry in trusting you was correct.

PS. I've done trades now and then, I've given positive feedback now and then and never asked positive feedback in return. And you know why? Because I do know how this forum works.
3503  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: "Trusted" member "MiLkZ" ask money for positive feedback on: June 08, 2022, 08:52:48 AM
Consider our long term business i requested multiple time to post positive honest opinion based on our trading experience..

Do you know that he is not supposed to give you trust feedback just because you've done trades?
So this makes your moves and motifs also shady, sorry.

On the other hand, if you have proper proof that he is selling trust, that is another matter.
And with so much text posted all around, I've almost missed the only relevant image. https://prnt.sc/WDkwDgwuyuK9

For now imho both of you are guilty. But since you have already a history of odd accusations, for now I won't rush it with trust feedback on any of you.
3504  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Introducing The Bitcoin Note: Physical Bitcoin that Looks and Feels Like Cash on: June 08, 2022, 07:55:53 AM
It now sounds like it it has all the drawbacks of physical storage while it still requires an on-chain transaction. And after each on-chain transaction, the remaining value will be reduced (because of transaction fees).

From my understanding on-chain transaction will happen only when this notes are getting funded. Most probably only once.
My guess is that they plan to sell them unfunded, basically expecting the first owner fund it on-chain. Afterwards it can be passed on with the nominal value being contained there.

However, one big question remains: what will this "re-keying" mean.
I hoped it's something that doesn't involve re-creation of a new wallet (and new address), hence no new tx, but I don't know...
3505  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PayPal allows users to withdraw Bitcoin to external wallets on: June 08, 2022, 07:48:53 AM
If Paypal fully become an exchange competing coinbase I wouldn't be surprise.
I don't think it is going to happen.

It cannot happen simply because PayPal fees may be much higher than any of the competition's.
And, as said, they were selling IOUs called Bitcoin for so long. So I expect they may try to find ways to not have to work much with actual bitcoin (hence put a discouragingly big enough withdrawal fee).
PayPal has its own role in trades: it's a pretty well known and reputed escrow. Bitcoin is just another currency they'll be escrowing, they have no good reason to compete with Bitcoin Exchanges.
3506  Local / Presa / Re: Hackathon Supernova 10 Mai - 20 Iunie 2022 on: June 08, 2022, 07:33:44 AM
M-am intors.

E lucru mare sa vad o asemenea revenire.

Not bad...

Dragut.

i want this script but in php/js/python

Maybe this is what you want? https://github.com/iancoleman/bip39
From what I see it may be in js (just watch for the libraries too). You can look to actual site for tests: https://iancoleman.io/bip39/
3508  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: When was Bitcoin address/wallet created on: June 07, 2022, 02:48:18 PM
Hello, is it possible to see when was bitcoin address or wallet created?
Thank you

Since creating an address basically means to randomly pic a number from an unimaginably high range, since a wallet can be created whether you're online or offline, since a wallet can be recovered at any time if you have the private key or seed... if I understand correctly your question, the answer is no.
3509  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Business Idea by Bitcoin to Help People to Transfer remittances Faster on: June 07, 2022, 02:43:01 PM
I don't want to be a show stopper, but according to what I've found on the internet there are already a lot (i.e. 101, it seems) of crypto-remittance companies over the world: https://tracxn.com/d/trending-themes/Startups-in-Cryptocurrency-Remittance

If you're starting a new business in this area, you'll have to find a good way to handle sudden price variations for crypto while keeping the fees low.
Also keep in mind that since the inception of Bitcoin the banks and similar services have been lowering their fees more and more, and also started speeding up their operations. So you have to develop fast, big and meanwhile keep the fees low.

Now, I don't understand from your business model if you will transfer the money internationally or you'll send crypto to the office from the other country and that one will sell the coins and do local transfer afterwards (keep in mind that it has to be a clean business, else money laundering and lost funds will happen). But if you do this, crypto is not even necessary, since it's your company's money on both sides, you can transfer fiat to the other branch (fiat that will get there in some days, but it doesn't matter) and that branch, in the same time, will send locally the needed fiat as (local, faster) bank transfer.

So crypto may be useful if the various branches are franchise/have different owners, but otherwise.. not so much. Am I missing something?
3510  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Introducing The Bitcoin Note: Physical Bitcoin that Looks and Feels Like Cash on: June 07, 2022, 02:15:16 PM
We only release the decryption key when someone cuts the note and reports this via an authenticated and encrypted way to our server

I see this as yet another nice collectible, especially by changing the PK it should be safer than the established collectible items.
My questions are:
* Will you open source / peer review your technology? I mean that nothing stops you have something else than you claim (i.e. you can keep private keys, maybe make it 2-of-3 with 2 keys in your hands, and redeem yourself the funds after a couple of years).
* Will these items get redeemed only after expiration or by destroying them? I mean that usually collectibles do have a value even if they are redeemed (if they are not destroyed).
3511  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Reason Why People(Mostly Newbies) Fall Victim To Scams Easily. on: June 07, 2022, 12:10:06 PM
One of the biggest problem is that, together with the mindset of getting rich overnight (as you also said), they don't have the knowledge to assess that certain "offers" are (far) too good to be true.
And this goes from getting into HYIP or so-called "cloud mining" to sending money to various "Elon Musk" (and so on) impersonations or hacked accounts in order to receive back double the amount (since money grows on the trees, you know...)

Like many of us use to say, if you can't hold for 5 years, don't hold for 5mins, and if you can't bear -28%, don't expect +28,000%.
Make sure to have a long term investment plan

This is a different topic. Actually two of them.
1. People who jump in without looking around into certain altcoin that promises to make them rich (and scam them, obviously).
2. People buying into Bitcoin at FOMO and panic selling at the first price drop. This second one is not scam, actually. And here a good plan and "invest only what you afford to lose" does help.

and while you invest and wait, you can trade actively on the side. Could be P2P or actual spot or futures/margin trading on the side to make little profits on the way up.

This is a risky advice and I am pretty much against it. Trading is not for everybody and can get people lose money very easy, by buying crap at FOMO, falling for pump and dump schemes, or by using unrealistic leverage and so on. This is not for beginners; by far.
3512  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Technical reasons to not solo mine to an exchange address on: June 07, 2022, 11:57:41 AM
I know in the past many exchanges had specifically said NOT to mine to your addresses there. If it was because they did not want to deal with it for some reason, or their back end did not handle it properly or for some other reason was never really discussed. Could also be because of the maturity issue that their databases were not set up to handle it.

Whatever the reason(s) the exchanges have, I would not mine to any address I do not control.

I think that one main reason, especially at start, was that many (altcoin) mining pools were sending payouts no matter how small (no threshold implemented), and if one was mining to exchange address it was spamming it with small inputs which the exchange had to consolidate.

Another good reason can be disputes. If one didn't receive the reward it had to be somebody's fault and the exchanges didn't want to be part of that.

Of course, as you said, the DB maturity plus the various coins' clients running with probably much smaller resources could also have been playing an important role.

But especially for Bitcoin solo mining, if one is willing to risk 6.25 BTC in 2022 by sending it to wallet under others' control... something must be very wrong in his setup (to say it nicely).
3513  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Export Electrum Transaction History Filter on: June 07, 2022, 10:27:25 AM
You can only export the entire transaction history in ".json" format, that includes a "fee" and "fee_sat" names and values.
Inbound transactions will show "null" values for the fee.

Go to the menu "Wallet->History->Export" and select "json", or CSV if want it to be compact but it doesn't have "names", just values.

The direction is pretty good, but I don't understand why CSV is not good, really.
I've exported CSV and opened with Excel/LibreOffice Calc and it looks great, it has headers, one can use mathematical operations on it:

3514  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin price and actions to raise it on: June 07, 2022, 09:20:10 AM
This is the time to look around and ask: What else can be done to sustain BTC growth? How to increase interest in BTC? Everything possible is already being done on the stock exchange. Where are the other growth points? Growth points in increasing demand and interest. Experienced people and beginners love to play. Therefore, growth points can be in expanding people's awareness and offering new tools.

I think it's time to make websites with prices in different currencies: dollars, euros and crypto. It seems to me that this will contribute to the popularization of cryptocurrencies. Strengthening the popularity of cryptocurrencies would lead to an increase in their rate, to more lively trading, and as a result, to strengthening the status of cryptocurrencies.

Actually no. This is no different time from any other.
It's nice that you try to get people moving, but it's just another price drop in just another mid-cycle low/bear market.
So while more bitcoin related activities are (always) welcome, let's be honest with ourselves, ok?
3515  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC price suddenly dropped from $ 31K on: June 07, 2022, 09:17:16 AM
6-7% drop is not so much something we should freak out.. right?
Some have cashed in, some speculated the NY situation... I don't find the situation that bad...

Let's see what happens before the week-end comes. If the price continues the downtrend, then may become something to worry, but imho we're not there yet.
3516  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to Create a Pool? on: June 07, 2022, 08:56:05 AM
According to this (deleted?) post, OP plan seems to be to get some easy money by doing nothing.
I guess that he doesn't understand that he needs:
* fast hardware and internet
* a lot of know-how (if an user has troubles or the software doesn't work properly, that must be handled good and fast without affecting users' income)
* trust (users won't just send hash rate to you if they feel that your pool may not work, may not find blocks or may not pay the rewards)

So there's a lot of work there, and just starting with looking into existing pool software may be far from enough.
3517  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain Association - Thoughts over NY's mining ban on: June 07, 2022, 08:44:45 AM
This so called "mining ban" isn't a real mining ban. It's more like setting up double standards for the different kinds of businesses.

Exactly. With NY state being "the largest producer of hydroelectric power east of the Rocky Mountains" one would expect the NY miners use cleaner electricity than many others. So I really don't know what basis that (ugly) political decision has...
Oh well, the miners will easily find other, more friendly places, although it'll cost them the relocation and the time they won't be hashing...
3518  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 07, 2022, 08:25:41 AM
It seems like there are some people with differences of opinion about which way this market is headed.

I think that's not about differences of opinion. I think that it's about some in hurry to cash in and then most probably rinse and repeat.
The number of longs is getting very big, I've read. I don't think that so many traders are wrong.
3519  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Need help to get everything to work on Windows 10 machine on: June 06, 2022, 07:42:14 PM
Woah, I've "scanned" shortly the posts, from what I understand OP couldn't make even EPS work (and he's still keen to use EPS)?
If so, I recommend this post of mine where I managed to run EPS with Electrum. Maybe it hives hints of what is missing.
I remember that I did also hit a dead end .. until I've tried with Sparrow wallet which kinda hinted me that I should create a wallet file. Then all started working. But I didn't like it at all (I find Electrs a much better server).
3520  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: I need your suggestions, Project:Coin Crypto Price on: June 06, 2022, 07:27:59 PM
Leave your comments. Thanks

While I find the site neat and informative, I've found a bug and now I fear I cannot trust the data you display.
Please double check how the things are being stored, calculated and shown, since whatever-BTC is a different market than whatever-USD (and then converting to BTC) and keeping only one market and converting can give odd results.

Example: Monero's ATH. The date it tells it's 2018-01-09. In base currency USD it tells 542$. In  BTC it tells 0.0172BTC
Now... the thing is that from my research none of that is correct.
XMR-BTC ATH seems to have been some 0.031-0.033 BTC in 2018-02-25
XMR-USD ATH seems to have been some 475$ in 2021-05-02
I've got my data from Yahoo charts, I don't know how accurate they are, but I'm sure they do prove what I want to tell/explain. (CMC has a bit different numbers and dates, but at least they're pretty close.)
