Format your hard drive & install linux distro such as ubuntu, debian or linux mint. You don't have to worry about your privacy anymore. Or just use older windows version
true but some users are so used to using windows that they naturally would upgrade to version 10 if it is free. I have some older versions of windows in VM that I use from time to time but I dont think I will be upgrading to windows 10 anytime in the near future if ever.

You can discuss proposals to change the Bitcoin main chain, but a forked chain that is not also the main chain is an altchain and not truly Bitcoin.
[–]theymos -1 points 4 days ago Discussion of hardforks is not silenced. That's why a possible hardfork has been discussed ad nauseam on /r/Bitcoin for the past few months. XT-specific submissions are removed because XT is not Bitcoin. permalinksavecontextfull comments (189)reportgive gold
Um did he just contradict himself? Hardforks are not silenced yet XT is a hard-fork implementation of bitcoin when certain conditions are met. Some time down the road. Therefore XT should not be silenced. Currently (as of right now) XT is Bitcoin as it operates seamlessly with the bitcoin network. I love the logic fails even by Theymos. Sidechains, blockstream, and lightning network are not bitcoin yet they are allowed to be discussed on reddit/r/bitcoinIs this a case of selective censorship?

If XT is so great, no one should have to sell it to anyone, people will just switch.
There is avast difference to discussing XT vs "selling" XT to users. Kind of hard to discuss it if reddit moderators keep deleting posts/threads related to XT and moving XT discussion to alt coin section of this forum. People can only switch if there is enough discussion about XT. They won't just wake up one day and go "i'll with go to xtnodes.com and download the latest client" without anyone previously mentioning it on a forum etc. Ultimately users will choose what they want in the end. All of this back and forth is drama and kiddy BS. Pick a stance and stick to it without the ad hominem or personal attacks (<----directed at those going out of their way to bash others). Not an alt chain in any sense as it has been used on other coins like litecoin that are completely separate chains and protocols. XT operates just like CORE as of right now.

block chain size is not a problem and likely won't be for the foreseeable future. Hard drive space is dirt cheap compared to how much of it bitcoin blockchain takes up.

link: http://localghost.org/posts/a-traffic-analysis-of-windows-10Information transmittedAll text typed on the keyboard is stored in temporary files, and sent (once per 30 mins) to:
oca.telemetry.microsoft.com.nsatc.net pre.footprintpredict.com reports.wes.df.telemetry.microsoft.com
There isn't a clear purpose for this, considering there there's no autocorrect/prediction anywhere in the OS (There is autocorrect in certain text fields, but the supposed purpose for transmitting these keystrokes is to improve autocorrect across devices. Whether a full keylog is necessary for this (as opposed to just corrections) is questionable. Furthermore, this appears to still occur even if the user is not signed in to a Microsoft account, eliminating the "across devices" benefit. Perhaps there is a global autocorrect dictionary that benefits all users, but the privacy implications of an un-disableable always-on keylogger outweigh these potential benefits.). The implications of this are significant: because this is an OS-level keylogger, all the data you're trying to transmit securely is now sitting on some MS server. This includes passwords and encrypted chats. This also includes the on-screen keyboard, so there is no way to authenticate to a website without MS also getting your password. When a webcam is first enabled, ~35mb of data gets immediately transmitted to:oca.telemetry.microsoft.com oca.telemetry.microsoft.com.nsatc.net vortex-sandbox.data.microsoft.com i1.services.social.microsoft.com i1.services.social.microsoft.com.nsatc.net Everything that is said into an enabled microphone is immediately transmitted to:oca.telemetry.microsoft.com oca.telemetry.microsoft.com.nsatc.net vortex-sandbox.data.microsoft.com pre.footprintpredict.com i1.services.social.microsoft.com i1.services.social.microsoft.com.nsatc.net telemetry.appex.bing.net telemetry.urs.microsoft.com cs1.wpc.v0cdn.net statsfe1.ws.microsoft.com "If this weren't bad enough, this behaviour still occurs after Cortana is fully disabled/uninstalled. It's speculated that the purpose of this function to build up a massive voice database, then tie those voices to identities, and eventually be able to identify anyone simply by picking up their voice, whether it be a microphone in a public place or a wiretap on a payphone. Interestingly, if Cortana is enabled, the voice is first transcribed to text, then the transcription is sent to:"pre.footprintpredict.com reports.wes.df.telemetry.microsoft.com df.telemetry.microsoft.com "If Windows is left unattended for ~15 mins, a large volume of traffic starts being transmitted to various servers. This may be the raw audio data, rather than just samples."OTHER CONCERNS "While the inital reflex may be to block all of the above servers via HOSTS, it turns out this won't work: Microsoft has taken the care to hardcode certain IPs, meaning that there is no DNS lookup and no HOSTS consultation. However, if the above servers are blocked via HOSTS, Windows will pretend to be crippled by continuously throwing errors, while still maintaining data collection in the background. Other than an increase in errors, HOSTS blocking did not affect the volume, frequency, or rate of data being transmitted."

i am glad that i am using raspberry pi to type this post. the nearby is my really old PC, but they are so much better than upgrading the windows 10.
This is ridiculous, Windows is not storing logs and logs of forum post in a database somewhere, it just wouldn't make sense. They are looking for keywords for ads like google does when you use their browsers. There is far too much paranoia that you are using a slow arm pc instead of a standard computer. All a sys admin at microsoft needs to do is cherry pick the data collected from their enormous user base to find bitcoin (crypto) related passwords. Steal coins and there is 0 recourse for the owner of the coins (well, the original owner ) That doesn't change that you can turn off all of these settings and if your security is a large priority you should be investing an a hardware wallet anyways and none of this would be an issue. Because this software is closed source how do you know that if you "turn off" all of the appropriate settings for security/privacy that it is fully off and not logging your key strokes anyway? Do you have access to the Windows 10 source? If so please link me to it.

XT is currently only a voting mechanism, like a poll here. Maybe in half a year we will see the first bigblock, maybe in a year. Gavin has been extra patient.
another spam attack couldn't get the first big block ? or is there a time constraint on when the first > 1 MB block can be created? The first big block can only be mined in January of 2016 and after 2 weeks of >75% of xt mined blocks. At that point, we have already reached full consensus. I'll take that as a yes then?

I have been thinking about the mail from the nickname Satoshi Nakamoto, whoerever it is. His argument is not about the technical side of the debate but about politics and long term future.
I think people need to talk less about the technical implications and more about the political implications of this fork. The argument of this guy is that if the XT fork is sucessful, that means that in the future someone with enough political influence can make a fork successful. That means that one days the President of the United States, who definitely has enough political influence, will be able to push a succesful fork. And we all know what that would mean: no more 21 million limit. We will be back to central banking.
The argument that the community will decide what is its best interest is invalid. Aristotle already knew that democracy turn into demagogy. And history and economics show that the outcomes of democratic process don't align with the best interest of the voters.
Basically the problem is that: by forking we are choosing a democratic political process, and it's the very same process which lead to central banking and is currently unable to stop it.
Just because someone makes a client (XT or original satoshi client) doesn't mean they make people choose to use that client. If that were so then Satoshi himself had political influence thus negating your point entirely. I don't see anything that XT is doing other than allowing people a choice to switch their client to one that supports bigger blocks (and a few other minor things). Ultimately people choose what they want to use. Political influence lol. Sorry but I make my own choices by thinking with my brain, not who is in the lime light.

I think it is not correct because gold is always best investment and it will always grow for longer time. So it is not a good way to compare gold and bitcoin.
OH RLY? Does gold only go up in price? Answer: NO Therefore: Gold is not always best investment Every commodity traded has its price go up and down making it just an investment not "always the best investment"

This is of course assuming that ZERO merchants choose to accept XT fork coins.
That has yet to be seen. No one knows that.
Should be interesting to see what exchanges/businesses do when some accept XT and some dont (assuming that scenario plays out).
Actually this won't happen. Honestly, it isn't that hard to persuade someone to switch since they don't know all the details. It is much easier if other factors are involved such as money. While XT will definitely have more than zero merchants, it will do exactly what theymos stated. It will cause a noticeable or even significant network split which is a horrible possibility. do exactly what? Didn't theymos say that: This wouldn't actually last for long in the scenario where 75% of miners switch but no big economic actors do because the miners who switched will switch back very soon after they realize that they're mining coins that no one will accept. In that scenario he says it clear as day "no big economic actors" switch over to XT but 75% of miners do. Not sure what you are addressing in response to my post in response to theymos' post. Time will tell. This is why bitcoin is exciting...we are headed into uncharted waters.

Let's not forget that the bitcoin core developers excommunicated Gavin for being a selfish nutcase. Now he is trying to destroy bitcoin with outright terrorism via month long transaction spam attacks and declaring Bitcoin is forked when he does not have the ability to do so. He's causing the entire bitcoin community to lose money just because he is butthurt
Please back up your claim with evidence about gavin being the culprit behind the recent spam attack on the bitcoin network. Otherwise please STFU thanks

Naturally I can see the price going down or stagnating until the dust settles.
But in the long run I see more strength in bitcoin than ever.
any chance bitcoin will be dead ? yes it will die
