3501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: using 2 different miners on the same computer on: December 08, 2021, 03:49:51 PM
You can easily run two miners in hiveOS, I can mine ETH algorithm with few cards and point the rest to ravencoin algorithm, I don't know how to do this on windows OS but I find it more easier with hive OS, you can use two different pools at once

Gridseed Orb 5 Chip ASIC USB Miner W/all Cables Scrypt Litecoin Sha256 Bitcoin

Product Key Features:
"Hash AlgorithmScrypt, SHA-256

These are not video cards. I also learn a lot about old mining hardware on this forum.
I am against mining on such devices because of the very low hash rate.
3502  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which NVIDIA RTX 3060/3070 model suitable for mining on: December 08, 2021, 03:42:30 PM
Hi there experts,

I've been trying to find a RTX 3070 and mainly considering ASUS brand. I believe both V2 and Ti are LHR versions hence they are certainly not for mining. However other non LHR cards got several models for the same GPU.

Most popular models seems to be Strix, ROG and TUF. Which model is more suitable for mining?

Thanks

ROG - Republic of Gamers.
This is not a model of a video card cooling system, but a series of products from Asus.
I prefer the STRIX cooling system, the fans are not the best, usually 1 fan breaks in 3 years.
Asus under warranty changes the cooling system, but you can do it quickly yourself.
3503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RTX 3070 recommended PSU vs TDP on: December 08, 2021, 03:35:03 PM
I have a small rig with rtx 3070ti and gtx1660 mining ETH and my power supply is just 650w, this 3070ti takes 135-140w when mining and the 1660 takes just 50watt so that's roughly 200watt, with motherboard risers and CPU I'm sure it's taking only up to 300-400watt from wall so yes 650watt power supply is sufficient
rtx 3070ti consumes from 150 to 220 watts depending on the mining algorithm.
And the gtx1660 consumes 10-20 watts more from the wall.
Not every power supply has enough 8-pin connectors to connect two video cards.
If your 650w PSU is of good quality, then that's good, but in most cases these PSUs are not used in mining.
3504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: A 3090 with Memory from other than Micron? on: December 08, 2021, 03:25:52 PM
The RTX 3090 uses Micron MT61K512M32KPA-21U memory modules with a bandwidth of 21 Gbps.
https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3090-ti-confirmed-to-feature-microns-21-gbps-gddr6x-memory

The standard graphics card gives the RTX 3090 114-120 Mh/s, if it is not the LHR version.
It's better to ask your friend for video or other evidence, but I wouldn't buy such cards. With the RTX 3090, there are a lot of overheating problems, and the hash rate drops by 30-40%.
3505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Motherboard for PCI Express v4.0 RTX 3070 on: December 08, 2021, 03:11:51 PM
You aren't planning to game on the motherboard right? The truth is mining doesn't care about pcie 2.0, 3.0 or even 4.0 so don't bother yourself with this, the only way you can see difference is when trying to play PC games which 4.0 pcie slot will perform better
Have you watched the 3.0 pcie and 4.0 pcie benchmarks in games?
The performance gain is noticeable only in synthetic tests, while in gaming tests the increase is from 1 to 10%.
But 10% is under certain conditions. I will not write links for you, you can independently find the test results in Google.
Soon, video card manufacturers are promising 5.0 pcie.
3506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: cryptotab browser experience on: December 08, 2021, 03:01:29 PM
The browser, in my opinion, is a useless intermediary in mining, because the miner will work more efficiently and more honestly.
If the processor is very old and the frequency is 2000 MHz, the profit will be small.

3507  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: mining will become illegal on: December 08, 2021, 02:56:09 PM
as an answer if i get caught it will be jail time for 1-3 years
they don't do helicopters or thermal imaging just someone reports me , so i just want to hide if someone reports me and they get on my door they can't find them or they find just a normal pc

Probably your power company going to report you , because you are going to use to much electricity , way over the average household usage around your location.
Doesn't matter where or how you hiding your rig , or camouflaged your setup.

Im in the USA, but when i started to use my home mining setup , with around 150A power draw , few months later some officers was knocking on my door , and asked me about what's going on , do i growing weeds ? Smiley so i give them a tour in my small mining room , after that , never heard about them again ... later in the coming months , years , Power company persons come to my house a , bc the of the smart meter at my location reported overheating Smiley

Each of your 1060 GTX , with the right tune can draw somewhere between 70-90 watts , its just the card itself , so add few extra watts / rigs for motherboard/  cpu memory etc...
I'm assuming you have 2 rig with 8 cards each , so each rig is pulling around 600-750 watts , so in your case that's a max 1500 watts or 1.5KW / hours.

so if those agents going to your house , and your rigs hidden , you probably need to explain to them why is your power usage is high Smiley

Solution No 1 :
Solution During winter time :
Install a space heater ( but never use it ), if there is a winter in your country Smiley , and tell those agents , you feel cold all the times and your space heater must be on all the time Smiley
( actually your mining rig basically is a space heater , so somehow you will be honest with those agents Wink
Solution during summer time :
Install a window AC unit around 1500w rated power usage, but never use it , if those agents going to your house, tell them that's the ac what drawing that much power ...

As some other members mentioned , if your country really want to crack down on miners , sooner or later they going to analyze your IP traffic log , and from there they easily can find out , you are connected to a mining pool , so go ahead and set up a good vpn connection with a good firewall , use pfsense or opensense for self build. use different DNS that your ISP using as a default ...

And after all this , ask yourself a question , all this worth it to mine with 12 1060GTX , risk your freedom , spend some times in jail , or it would be a better solution to sell your cards , your rigs , and buy some coin and hold it , sell it when you need some money or when coin prices are up .

Solution No 2 :
Go completely off the gird , detailed info, suggestions HERE Smiley Wink , use solar panel , wind turbines , but make sure you have a good cell phone connection , so you can use a mobile hotspot to connect your rigs Smiley

1500 watts per hour is a small amount of electricity consumption for an apartment in a very hot country.
Problems arise if neighbors write a statement to the police on you, then the police will already know what to look for, or they can then come with checks.
The most important thing is that no one should see this equipment.
3508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: mining will become illegal on: December 08, 2021, 02:30:29 PM
i am a small scale miner all i have is just 16 gtx 1060 3g mining from 5 years
In Russia, these issues are solved very simply.
It is not necessary for the equipment to be in your apartment, because if the equipment is found, you will have problems.
The equipment should be located in a location where the owner of the equipment cannot be identified. You risk the equipment being seized by the police, but it will be difficult to prove your guilt.
3509  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: cryptotab browser experience on: December 08, 2021, 02:20:01 PM
Dear all,

do you have tested CryptoTab Browser ?
With a "standard" PC running 24\24 I get an HashRate of 2 KH\s and about 1,5 µBTC\day.
Is it right in your opinion or too low or very good ?
Can you tell me if CryptoBrowser can work with an USB ASIC conncted to the PC and how ?

I have a last question: can I earn 1500 µBTC\day with a 2000 KH\s PC with the same software?
I think that the miner that is built into the browser does not mine bitcoin.
It is better to use trusted miners for mining Monero or Raptorеum if you want to mine with a processor. But for mining, you need a modern processor with 12 threads as a minimum, otherwise the profit will be small.
See the real profit from your processor

When the warranty seals are not opened, then the warranty works faster, because there is no need to do an examination.
If the warranty seals are damaged and there are traces of disassembly of the equipment, then the service center needs to find the cause of the breakdown. I don't think that companies in the US are willing to lose money.

That is while in the US right because where I live if the see the seal is broken then shops just say to f888 yourself hehe, well you can always send back in this case to evga and I'm pretty sure they will cover it in the sense they see the damage was not caused by the change of thermal pads but we all know if they want to deny the warranty then forget. However manufactures like asus, gigabyte and many others will likely not cover it. EVGA is usa based so their customer service is the best possible.
In Russia, there was a similar situation with gigabyte video cards. For video cards with 3 coolers, 1 cooler often broke and the manufacturer returned the money to the buyer.
In 2019, a lot of miners began to return their video cards, which they bought in 2017. After that, the gigabyte in Russia started having problems, and they changed the warranty policy. I returned several video cards, and then they began to lubricate the faulty cooler with grease.
And if the employees of the service center found traces of opening the seals, then they refused to receive warranty repairs.
3511  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mininig with Air Conditioner ??? on: December 05, 2021, 10:51:07 AM
And I have natural ventilation, but I always try to do so that there is no unnecessary noise.
This situation is highly dependent on your neighbors and the crime in your area.
If there are more than 100 video cards in the room, then many miners prefer to use security.
3512  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Staking a better option over mining? on: December 05, 2021, 10:41:53 AM
Miners are not interested in staking for 6-10% per annum. They will always look for new coins or mine something promising to sell in the future.
Large investors will prevent users from making big staking profits.
And maintaining your node without programming experience is very difficult.
3513  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining with Cuda Capability 3 (GTX 770) it is possible? on: December 05, 2021, 10:35:54 AM
Mining with Cuda Capability 3 (GTX 770) it is possible? I saw T-Rex and Phoenixminer and they need Cuda Capability 5-6
Even if you find some miners, the profit will be minimal even on free electricity.
2013 video cards are not the right solution for mining.
Sell your video card and buy RX 470 or analogs to get the minimum profit in mining.
Do not buy gt1030, this is also a bad decision, discussed many times already.
3514  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RTX 3070 recommended PSU vs TDP on: December 05, 2021, 10:28:09 AM
There are a lot of algorithms and overclocking options for this video card, from 130 watts to 220 watts.
I would recommend you 6 * 220 + 100 = 1400 watts.
If you do not want to use server power supplies, then it is better to buy 2 ATX power supplies of 800-850 watts gold each, because they have enough 8-pin cables.
3515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Motherboard for PCI Express v4.0 RTX 3070 on: December 05, 2021, 10:22:44 AM
The PCIE 3.0 and PCIE 4.0 ports are the same.
On new motherboards that support PCIE 4.0, there is only a limitation on compatibility with older video cards, for example RX 470.
You can find compatibility information in your motherboard documentation. But if you are buying new video cards, then this is not a problem.
3516  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: are my numbers right ??... on: December 03, 2021, 04:07:10 PM
Are there other warranty agreements in the US that allow users to break warranty seals?
I took apart American laptops, and I can say for sure that their cooling system is much better than the cooling system of similar laptops in Russia.
I have video cards that I bought from Amazon, but they are cold. Although their fans broke down after 3 years, their Russian counterparts worked longer.

As far as I know there is, check this, https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/mcswd0/swapping_the_thermal_pads_will_be_covered_under/

I'm not sure if all things with the same issue apply.
When the warranty seals are not opened, then the warranty works faster, because there is no need to do an examination.
If the warranty seals are damaged and there are traces of disassembly of the equipment, then the service center needs to find the cause of the breakdown. I don't think that companies in the US are willing to lose money.
3517  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Staking a better option over mining? on: December 03, 2021, 03:58:40 PM
With the way things are going with crypto adoption is it still reasonable to go for mining instead of staking? To be honest it looks like staking very very good altcoins like solana avalanche among others are better way of earning incomes than mining, what do you guys think?
I made a google request about solana staking
https://www.rbc.ru/crypto/news/618e64419a79477d10dfb8da
"Most crypto investors know Solana as a project that has shown phenomenal growth (over 9000% in 2021), a network with a throughput of 40 thousand transactions per second."

Profit no more than 10% per annum.
What happens if the price of the coin falls?
3518  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mininig with Air Conditioner ??? on: December 03, 2021, 03:54:06 PM
I don't like using AC in my farm because they consume more power than my mining rig, not good if you don't have extremely cheap power solutions it's better to buy two exhaust fans, they are different in size depending on how big your farm is
The problem may be that air conditioning cannot be installed in some rooms, while ventilation cannot be installed in others.
For example, if I put the air conditioner in my garage and leave it on at night, then the thieves will guess that there is a mining farm there.
Such moments should always be kept in mind.
3519  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I made the right decision in November on: December 03, 2021, 03:48:58 PM
Honestly I think the choice he made is much smarter than what most people do. Most miners usually sell their gear and coins and then at start to trade altcoins, and they usually end up losing it all.

Those altcoins he sold are already pumped up, I doubt they got more room the move. The meta coins had a crazy year, not much steam in them anymore.

If he held the alts, they could go 90% loss and buying a GPU would maybe yield a max loss of 50% or so. So not a horrible decision.
Let's get back to this conversation in 6 months. I am very interested in how much the RTX 3070ti video card will cost in May 2022?
It now costs $ 2,000 in my country.
It's December, so electronics are very expensive in stores.
But if mining is not relevant, then I would like to see this video card 3-4 times cheaper.
3520  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What will be the Fate of miners in 2022 on: December 03, 2021, 03:42:37 PM
Nobody knows what will happen.

The price can trade sideways for the next 12 months and it’s bad for miners since the difficulty will also keep going up. So our profits will keep going lower and lower.

Price can also go down which would make us make less money exponentially since hashrate is high while price is dropping.

Or ETH can go to something crazy like $10K and it’ll be a very profitable year like in the past. The difficulty will increase but so will the price.
This is true, only miners need to make the right decision. The growth of the Ethereum hash rate has stopped, and we do not know when the mining will end. The results of the first Ethereum 2 testnets will be announced in December 2021.
But newbies still buy graphics cards at high prices, as novice miners did in 2018.
Well things are different now compare to 2018, ETH mining wasn't coming to an end in 2018 only the market is down and still I believe it was a good time to keep mining because difficulty reduced alot and miners earn more ETH than 2017, these miners became the real winner in 2020 I believe, the best time to keep mining is in bear market, mine and store your coins
Why mine Ethereum when you could buy it for $ 100-200?
For example, I bought equipment if its payback was about 8-10 months, or maximum 12 months.
I don't think that many miners bought equipment in 2019, when the profit was from zero to several tens of cents.
Many miners had negative profit and turned off their farms. Check out the hashrate history.
