This is going to be a very active difficulty period, I bet we see swings that have a higher total range than any we've seen in a long time.

I can't imagine staying negative too long...

Neither can I, but it does make me wonder if this period or next will be the one to see a bump in the rate.
As it is looks like its starting off negative.
Still a while left in this round though Smiley

Bitcoin Difficulty: 59,335,351,234
Estimated Next Difficulty: 58,867,506,934 (-0.79%)
Adjust time: After 1413 Blocks, About 10.2 days
Hashrate(?): 395,645,198 GH/s

I think we can count on it going out of negative pretty quickly.  It is amazing though to see negative at all during this period.  I think it's safe to assume when the S7's hit peoples homes we will jump up again. How much not sure guess that's why they call it speculation Smiley.

I really want to have closer to 2 then 5 this period, but not sure if my wishes will matter.

well blockchain shows

After 30 days if we can figure a good easy way to count everyone's hash rate we may do that.  Not sure maybe someone comes up with a good idea that is easy to do.

If it helps, I could extend my notification script so that it reports the hash rates of the monitored addresses at the time a block is hit. Basically you (or anyone) could run the script with the published list of club workers. If a block is hit, anyone who is running the script will receive an email with the list of workers and their hash rates at that moment.

I know that most forum members have the utmost respect for you Phil. We trust that you'd accurately carve out the winnings.

But the nice thing about this approach is that anyone who cares about the result of a found block by the club can subscribe to notifications for the same club list. So there could be corroboration of the numbers by any forum member who wants to receive the notifications. It's kind of fitting that there's the opportunity of distributed validation of each other's hash rates. It mirrors the distributed underpinnings of the coin itself.

The current script resolution is plus or minus 5 minutes of a block discovery event, but that's easy to tighten up if desired. That said, it might not matter if the agreement is that we use the 1 day hash rate average, or something like that, to determine the reward split.

There's other algorithms that we could consider, but it probably makes sense to keep this simple. Also, someone else might have a better way to do this. It doesn't hurt my feelings if someone has a better alternative.

Of course since the likelihood of cracking a block is low, we should probably temper our efforts for whatever works and not spend too much time on an ideal solution.

Would donated hash count towards the reward calculation, or is it only compac hash?  I would think donated would be donated and would not count, but ass u me...

the beta test is 30 days  and if you don't have a stick but want to use an s-1 or an s-3  you would get a share.

basically for the first 30 days anyone can enter with at least 6gh (that is one compac at freq 125)
or 400ph or anything in between.

just let us know if it is a stick or donated (not a stick)  you get 1 share for your forum name.

after 30 days we will try to create a better set of rules based on the outcome of the 30 day testing.

New hardware fixed part of my problem.

2) edit - new usb hub and ran 2 sticks on xp laptop just fine, old hub was crap, will update soon >2 sticksplug in a second stick and all goes to hell, LIBSUB_ERROR out the wazoo and both sticks only hash around 2GH.  I didn't try more than 2 sticks.

Any ideas what's going on here?  The errors on the Win7 box are very confusing, I did not expect any issues there.  I'm thinking most of the fail on the XP machine is probably just the fact that my old WinXP box is old so I'm not too concerned there (gotta build a new computer one day...), but I can run 6 nanofury usb sticks on it at the same time no problem.  In fact I can run the 6 nanofury sticks in one instance of cgminer and 1 compac stick in cgminer-gekko at the same time (pictured below), zero issues, so I'm at a loss why more than 1 compac grinds it to a halt.

35304  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: September 22, 2015, 04:46:00 AM
I suspect at least 30 days before batch 2. they kept batch 1 open way longer then I expected but I guess now that the miners are built and in hand they will focus on upgrading there own farm first using our pre-orders to help fund the project before they re open up a second batch

For all we know they could have already upgraded their own farms.  I would suspect those were priority over batch 1.   If they did clear a lot of spots in their data center shipping out S7's I think they will fill them pretty quick.

I would agree batch 1 was open much longer then I think they would have guessed from previous products.  I think at least closed till most of S7 B1's are shipped and mode it to their new homes.  Also we don't know if any 3rd party data centers have put in big orders.  Likely those would come before batch 2.

It was open so long because of the high price.

I don't disagree.  Will be interesting if the price drops.  I hope it does and they issue coupons for first batch.

But it's hard to tell.   They kinda own the market.

I rather they do nothing for 2 weeks then open batch 2  on OCT 5th or 6th.  With little or no price drop.  Maybe a slight drop to 1799.
No coupons to batch 1.  Then on the 12th the early coupons die.  So maybe give new coupons on the 14th if sales are slow.  Say 200 off 1799= 1599 plus 61 to ship = 1660.

I do not want a fire sale of any type or kind. Here is why? Once bit fury and Knc really show true power.  My strategy for bitmaintech still gives them moves.

If bitmaintech drops price to 1600 in 1 week  from today and gives a 200 dollar coupon it only will hurt them as they made too early a move against bitfury and knc.

But WTF do I really know?  Just guessing like the rest of us.

Just throwing this out there, but it looks like we're only a block or two away from getting the first payout from Eligius on the 1BURGER. It's pretty small (about ten bucks) but the significant thing is that payout was mined entirely with hardware I built. Some of it was sticks being tested before being shipped (and our burn-in is at most three days - if it's a weekend - not three months like those other guys) but a lot of it was test hardware and prototypes.

Pretty exciting stuff.

Estimated Position in Payout Queue
Approximately 0.00005300 BTC remaining to enter payout queue. Maintaining your 3 hour hashrate average, this will take at least another 1 hour and 18 minutes at current network difficulty of 59,335,351,233.87.

It is late and I am a bit tired but sounds like a plan.

If you shoot me a pm with instructions on setup  I can set it up in the morning.

Simple is best. At least in the first 30 days.

To give new people what we are dealing with odds wise.

I am donating a lot of hash to this.  which more then 3x your chance at a block if you do the 1 stick min.

So lets say I send 5th ¼ of each day (via rental as  a donation) this is 1.25th or 100 sticks at  freq 225.  plus I am running 20 sticks at freq 125.  thats is 135gh so.  If you add 1 stick you are getting the benefit of all this free hash.

It is why for the first 30 days give 1 share each vs me taking ½ really makes a stick mining here as a solo a better shot then at home.

so lets say with my hash some other donors and the 1 stick guys.  we average 2th a day.  in a world of frozen diff that 2th would earn .5btc in 1 month  .5btc is 1/50 of a block.  So the chance of hitting 1 block the first 30 days is about 50 to one.  right now you would get around 1.38 btc

this is very rough math but not far off.
35307  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: "Modern" home mining hardware? on: September 22, 2015, 03:28:57 AM
My electricity costs 10¢ per kilowatt hour. I realize these miners may not pay for themselves, but I can use them to supplement my heating. Winter is coming.

How is the inefficient Bitcrane for quiet? Anyone know?

Buy the s-3 I can get them really quiet .

the bitcrane does like 1 watt per gh.

the s-3 does .75 -.80 watts per gh

if you clock the s-3 to 400gh it burns 300 watts and is pretty quiet.

If you live in the USA I CAN SELL YOU ONE with fan mods to be pretty quiet.

I am taking one off line this Thursday the 24th I could ship it to you if you are in the usa.

hopefully not far from New Jersey.
35308  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: NEW VENTURE IN BITCOIN MINE INVESTMENT in Bonny Scotland on: September 22, 2015, 03:23:15 AM
Well guys

The new 3rd Gen Spondoolies should be hitting the shelfs at xmas hopefully at 15Th/s a machine with a 4 x Power Efficiency rating from SP35

I am currently trying to pull together a consortium of miners who want to carry on mining

I have a few 14ft ISO containers I am converting like the Cryptokube with 36 x Spondoolies in each container.

I have 3 phase power and broadband directly to each container.

Starting with 1 Kube at a cost of £147,750 to setup and a ROI of under 11 months. I would be paying out to Bitcoin addresses Weekly a percentage share to each investor. All financial forecasts and budgets would be available to share online through SharePoint. I am a trading business so this is all above and beyond legit. I work as a Project Manager in IT and love Bitcoin Mining, I also love Excel so I find great pleasure in creating forecasts that are deadly accurate.

This mine could create up to 5 Bitcoins per day and this is only the beginning if I can get funding together for another Kube then it will happen. Continuously building on this will be a tremendous achievement and a first in Scotland.

I will be getting sheeting the outside of the container in Solar Panels (not that they will do much but every bit counts)

Got a good deal on the power through ecotricity.co.uk they have also offered to help with the Solar panels too. All there electricity comes from Hydro, Wind and Solar power.

I have been in touch with Spondoolies and been put on a mail list as soon as the new miners are up for sale. So currently at Seeding stage for this.

All investors will be acquiring a SHARE of the company which will be a Limited company based in Scotland. Obviously we will have to pay TAX as and where necessary.

I must say the weather in Scotland is perfect for this especially in a ISO Container.

If you are interested and have cash to invest in a PRIVATE MINE

I am also looking for Android Code developers to help build a App/Monitoring for android phones similar to the Genesis Hive app they use.

Any suggestions or ideas let me know

you are new with 1 post by now most of us are tired of posters like you.

My suggestion is prove you are real.

Use an escrow  take a cc take paypal.  have guy from sp-tech quote your post .

The big problem is even if you do all that plus really set the gear up in a container you could attach a truck and disappear into the night.

Sept 17    143

Sept 18    147   So very close to 1%

Sept 19    127   and as of now we are negative for the real  time number.  - 15 blocks  which is close to -4% !!!

Sept 20    124   so we are   - 35 blocks  as of last night.

Sept 30     130  drops down -14 to -49 blocks

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty  (-1.04%)

1447 blocks left   so   2016 - 1447 = 569 blocks made   so in 3 days we will be at 1000 blocks and picks will stop.

that 569 made means we should be at 618 since we are 49 blocks off 'norm' pace.

569/618 = 0.9207  - 1 =    -0.7928 which is  (-7.928%)    this will  reverse direction once the s-7's get sent out and setup .  Mine are due this Wednesday I am hoping for  the negs to keep dropping just a bit longer maybe to fri. then start climbing back.

It would be very nice to have 1 neg adjustment here.  even if it is just -0.02%

i have done extensive testing of various USB scrypt and SHA256 miners and always had trouble under windows once i went to linux i never went back all my rigs are now running on various custom Pi Linux miners found here on the forums

yeah seeing linux in action reminds me of when max os worked nicely say 10.6 or earlier.

I know apple uses unix/linux alot after 5 minute or so I can see the closeness.

I think linux will be my go to os.  I just need the time to work on it.
35312  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Sidehack stick solo pool club on: September 21, 2015, 11:50:41 PM
so with this basically everyone pools their sticks together to one addy and if a block is found the reward is split evenly?  nifty idea, better than using the stick by yourself

Yes.  I believe so.  Although I'm not sure how the difference in individual hashrate would apply if the club found a block.

It gets divided evenly between everyone who has a stick pointed to the pool.  Individual hash rate does not factor in.

first 30 days it will be an even split  we have about 18 of us  so more then a coin each.

25/18 = around 1.38 btc each

with the block winner getting the fees  as a bonus.

After 30 days if we can figure a good easy way to count everyone's hash rate we may do that.  Not sure maybe someone comes up with a good idea that is easy to do.

The math is  still against hitting a block those 30 days.  even with the 5th for 6 six hours that I toss in.

when I get the s-7 I may point it each day for 6 hours. Rather then rent from nicehash.

My guess is 30 day wait for batch 2.

 So say late OCT  21-25.

I think that, no later than after one week,  the S7 is again on sale.

I hope so. I bought 2 coupons a few days ago, but haven't placed the order yet. Hopefully they'll be back in stock before my coupons expire.  Undecided

I have 1 coupon I would like to order 1 more, but I was hoping to test them first.

Maybe they open for sales soon.

+0.26 to +0.59 for me.

When Bitmain ships the first batch of S7s, they will have to unplug them and maybe that will have an effect on hashrate.

yep.  I just got my notice for 2 units today. So I should see them in 3 to 5 days.  My guess is rates will drop for 3 to 5 days then climb back up.

Well my guess is it will be longer than that.

Bitfurry's chip at 0.06 J/GH is the one that scares me the most though.

Oh and I meant 0.26 to 0.50% for my guess...

I would like 1 good jump -2 to 0  would be nice.

My 2 pieces should come on weds the 23rd

Yeah I already have the 49 port one with the 60AMP Power supply but I figured for the guys with only a few sticks the 10 AMP one would do but for the money the 49 port is the better value I just ordered another one for some more sticks i just ordered

yeah the 60 amp psu is powerful but not efficient.

you should have this psu

and it is only 78%  but should be able to do every port.

this one is 87%

got them running great on a debian 7 build .  19 sticks .

@Jake36 thanks for help on the cgminer install

I will post a shot later. -------- shot below

This was the first linux build I ever did.  I burned a boot cd  took a few hours to set up I

still have some quirks , but those are my quirks.  Since I never did this os before.

I have good numbers for the sticks

19 on 2 hubs  freq 125

Mighty impressive.
AND
Congrats on your first Linux build.

Most build Linux 4-6 times the first time, there are just SOOOOOO many options cuz' Linux is so configurable.
What distro did ya' start with?
ALL our servers run Centos 6, which may not be optimum for what your doing.

  7 wheezy  I think 7.9  .

I needed to build it twice as I screwed up a question.  But with an ssd and fast internet it was not long to build.

I needed much more time and help to load cgminer.  It is now up to 20 sticks. One of them need a pot turn.
