3541  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [200GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: February 10, 2012, 11:52:22 AM
This fact that is not possibile to tell exactly what was found and when is a big problem, IMHO, which could stop miners from switching to p2pool.

+1

p2pool claims to be totally transparent. Users having full control (as in opposite to big mining pools).

Yet we don't even know for sure when / what was found.
Please stop spreading idiocies.

The fact that YOU don't know, doesn't mean that others don't.

P2pool is totally opensource and there are logs of everything happened.

Go back to paying 10% to deepbit now.
3542  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [200GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: February 09, 2012, 08:26:02 PM
Huh!?!?! Whats going on here? Pool: 10458MH/s ? Pool stales: 48% ?

Updating and restarting P2Pool seems to fix it. Several users had this problem, and I'm looking into it right now. Will post more updates soon.

forrestv,

are split chains a waste of mining power?

As far as i know no. If the splitted chain find a block, it will be split between submitted shares in the splitted chain. Just, you are mining in a pool with 10ghash

Here when i recharge it the voice tell me "you recharged it of X euro" (or whatelse is in english).
If i check how much is left it tell me how many € are left and so on

But of course i can't redeem those € or buy things
3544  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blizzard Battle.net Balance Launched on: February 09, 2012, 07:58:39 PM
Doesn't it violate legal tender laws to denominate AH items in USD if the USD isn't redeemable? Seems a bit misleading to imply that users are simply transferring cash instead of buying the equivalent of "Blizzard Bucks."
Are you serious? When you recharge your cellphone you put like "20 dollars" but of course you no more can redeem them....
3545  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Time for Prop pools to charge a fee? on: February 09, 2012, 07:55:26 PM
It's time for hoppable pool to disappear, seriously.

And maybe it's time people start to use p2pool...
3546  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: P2POOL vs. Pooled Mining - something stinks here on: February 09, 2012, 07:54:55 PM
I want to say that p2pool does not require trust like with a normal pool: no one can cheat or steal your btc or scam you with p2pool

With a normal pool they can (and they do indeed...)
3547  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: P2POOL vs. Pooled Mining - something stinks here on: February 09, 2012, 03:07:02 PM
So, no comment from the OP? You felt so strongly to start this thread, do you still feel the same? Is something still fishy or was it variance after all?

Even more fishy. As soon as I started this thread the pool miraculously starts finding blocks again.

That is fishy...I wouldn't expect a lucky streak after an unlucky streak, the math just doesn't add up, how would that ever average out!?!?
Are you joking? Do you know what "random" and what "probability" mean?
3548  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Contracts or PPS payouts greater than 100% are pool hopping with your hashes! on: February 09, 2012, 03:06:07 PM
Switch to a NOT hoppable pool

Switch to p2pool

problem solved, byebye hoppers  Wink

3550  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bringing decentralization back to the Bitcoin network. on: February 09, 2012, 02:50:14 PM
Reward in p2pool are higher than in most pool (ppl in deepbit pay 10% to mine LOL, poor noobs, wasting money), that is an incentive for ppl to switch to it.

Variance? P2pool find some blocks everyday, no problem about variance...
3551  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blizzard Battle.net Balance Launched on: February 09, 2012, 02:48:28 PM
So you transform euro or dollars in "battlenet cash"

then you use it to buy items from other players

then other players have the "battlenet cash" and... wtf are they supposed to do with it? Buy items from someone else? But then they will have that "battlenet cash"... and maybe no need to buy any items...
3552  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: If you lost the wallet, you lost the bitcoin forever, right? on: February 09, 2012, 02:38:33 PM
I have some bitcoin in a wallet and get it lost (machine reformatted). Does that mean I lost forever ?
The wallet contain the private keys you need to be able to use your btc.

You lose the wallet, you lose the keys, and guess what? You lose your btc.

Never heard about backup?  Roll Eyes Ppl need to lose money first before discovering why backup is important...

I've read it, with the same effort you could probably dial some planets with a Stargate...

I have no problems with cgminer on Windows, it runs fine and installing it and p2pool is much faster
