3541  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you have a separate phone/PC for crypto? on: September 01, 2021, 03:39:36 PM
Personally I have two devices, I use one to store my coins and I never connect it to the internet or use it to download stuff, it is more like a cold storage for me since I'm yet to buy myself a hardware wallet, my other device handles other internet activities, including accessing this forum and all, but even as it's actively been used on the internet, I am pretty much weary of what I download (that's if I ever download anything), I don't register in untrusted websites, neither do I click on links that I do not know the source of, generally, I keep all my devices safe from any attack whatsoever.

Having said that, it's much better to have more than one device as a crypto user, but if you're unable to do so and you're using just one device for all, you can basically just try as much as possible to stay away from whatever can compromise it, more often than not, it's the user who makes the mistake of using their device in a way that gets it compromised, if you're careful and selective, you'll more or less be safe.

3543  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: I set up an Electrum wallet, now what? on: August 31, 2021, 04:27:02 PM
The replies already made above sufficiently answers your question, but since you're a noob I also want to add, just in case you don't know, your seed phrase generated on your electrum wallet and your private keys as well should be kept secret and only you should know about it, newbies erroneously believe Bitcoin is stored in Bitcoin wallets, but it's not, it's stored on the network and anyone who gets your seed phrase can import your funds into their wallet and spend it. Then again, do not keep your funds too long on centralized exchanges due to hacks and other form of data breaches, move your funds immediately back to your electrum wallet right after you're done with your transaction on an exchange.

You do beta work for here igehhh, I they very sure say this analysis take plenty of your time and sleep, and I'm pretty sure you'll be giving us more of this sort of analysis in the future, keep up the good work mate.
I just think this will be of help to many of us to read, e-naira CBDC is nothing more than naira but could be more privacy-depriving in design.
Of course, it's nothing new and I'm not surprised, CBDC's are basically just designed to function like the issuing country's fiat currency, the only thing is that it is in a digital form, it would be controlled and printed by the government and is nothing like Bitcoin or other decentralized currencies. I think the Nigerian government is just following the bandwagon with this move, Nigeria has more pressing issues like unemployment, insecurity, lack of basic amenities and even inflation, the government should rather be trying to solve this issues and improve the state of the country and leave CBDC's for developed countries for now.
Please, let us individually suggest how we want the board and the child-boards should look like, to know if I will still edit the boards requested for.
We must not all individually make postulations when yours is just fine, Imo i think your suggestion for the main board and child boards is perfect and good enough for us to present to the larger part of the forum (most especially the administrators) for their approval or disapproval, but one thing I want to ask is, is it necessary we request for an off-topic child board for now, I think we can leave that out and maybe request for it's addition when we already have our own local board.
3545  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to manage losses? on: August 30, 2021, 07:37:16 PM
how do you manage stress if you loss biggest amount because the value of your token is hitting down or NFT project is not ok?
in your opinion how diversify your investment in other alts to cope up your losses?
You should expect losses when you invest in stuffs like this cause they more or less pump, and then dump, so you can make ROI when they pump and you can also lose funds when they dump, it is what it is, and most times the only way to manage the loss is by not investing in them and going for projects that are sustainable for the long period, just as Bitcoin is.

Having said that, as for diversifying with many alts, it's not a great idea imo, I take altcoins to be short term projects, thus it would obviously be much better to invest largely in Bitcoin and a fraction of your remaining funds in altcoins, not just any altcoin, but best if it's ethereum, cause they actually do have a developing ecosystem.

So, do you have a favorite post, or most memorable moment?
My favorite/most memorable post is [Interviews] with Bitcointalk members started by zasad@, this topic was really interesting to say the least, quite a lot of reputable users, as well as users that have been in the forum for a very long time were interviewed and we got to know things about them that we would prolly have not known if that interview wasn't conducted, the post was also educative and entertaining, it definitely stands out as a memorable post in this forum.
3547  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Fake exchange scam in a kind of Ponzi scheme and high yield return on: August 29, 2021, 02:55:47 PM
The best exchanges in crypto space today are all centralised exchanges but one thing is certain about them, they are here to progress with crypto mass adoption, even if they have access to keys of all wallet addresses on their platforms they care about their users fund, newbies are the ones that need to stop using crappy exchanges that no one knows anything about
Whilst there is obviously legitimate and scam centralized exchanges, what's synonymous about the two of them is that your funds is not in your control and even if the exchange is a good one, it can get hacked or experience one form of data breach which would result in users losing their funds or their data being exposed on the dark market, no matter the kind of centralized exchange you use, do not store your funds on it, and then again like you said it's best users don't even try out new exchanges that more often than not are controlled by scammers waiting for you to deposit so they can make away with your funds.

I agree that it's not just Arteta, we need upgrades in nearly every position.  It all starts with the manager, however.
Yes exactly, and in football if a team is doing very well, the manager gets praises, if the team is doing bad, the manager gets criticized, and most times sacked, when Arsenal took Arteta away from City, I actually thought he was going to do well at the Emirates, I mean, coming from the Etihad, with a little bit of experience and having been in assistant to pep whom I consider the best football manger currently, it was supposed to bring good performances to the Arsenal team, but right now things seem to be going from bad to worse. Arsenal need an overhaul of the team which would obviously include the manager.
3550  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: My friend wants to buy ETH for Axie Infinity, but I said no and here’s why…. on: August 28, 2021, 04:57:35 PM
A few weeks ago, one of my friends is buying ETH from me via P2P at his house. Our transaction was completed as usual. However, days later it’s where ETH had skyrocketed from $2k to $3k+, and I had nothing but regrets. If I didn’t sell my ETH back then, I could have gained some more lol.
It is what it is, and it has happened to all of us at least one time or the other, if you really had a need to attend to with the money, then there is no need to regret, we'll all sell a fraction of our stash one time or the other, and there is a possibility of the coin appreciating higher that the price it was when we sold, thus there is no reason to feel bad or regret actually.
Because of Ethereum London hard fork, I am so bullish about it and I feel that it may go even further before the end of this year. So I am holding my dear ETH as it is my major holdings. This is just my feeling, so I ain’t gonna sell my ETH until further notice.
I somewhat believe in the eth network, it's more like the only altcoin I believe is actually sustainable for the long period, if you intend to hold your eth for longer, then it's great, goodluck with that.

The president has signed the Petroleum industrial Bill, people are affraid again that if the petrol subsidy is removed, it could result to inflation which can later result to price hike and naira devaluation. What do you people think about this?
The action of removing fuel subsidy by the Nigerian government has been done previously, with very terrible results, it has caused a spike in the price of fuel, subsequently resulting in protests and strike actions, it's obvious the Nigerian government are more or less clueless and completely corrupt, we're in this situation in the first place cause of corruption, if the government can channel the funds generated from oil into developing the country and prolly get our refineries working again, the price of fuel would be relatively stable, with or without fuel subsidies, from the looks of things, the future looks bleak for our nation, with more and more inflation in sight.

Having said that, we dy put all our mind for oil, Naija get many other resources, but our government no wan develop them or put eye there, all them they do na just to put eye for oil, na so them go use this oil till they exhaust am, na that time naija wahala go multiply, creating more problems for the generation wey they come for front.
3552  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: August 28, 2021, 10:03:33 AM
Inter Milan made another win...
Inter Milan are proving the doubters wrong this season, people expected them to have a terrible season after losing some good players and their manager as well, and I know it's just the second game and their second win, but the way and manner they have played in this two games clearly goes to show they are really ready to have a go at the title again this season and prolly maybe even retain their crown, if they manage to do so, it'll be a very wonderful feat. With Juventus losing Ronaldo to Manchester United, reducing the quality in their team, I think Inter has every right to believe they can steal the title from Juve for the second season running.
3553  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as primary currency on: August 28, 2021, 08:58:42 AM
Firstly, you cannot use Bitcoin as your primary or sole currency, it would make it impossible for you to buy most of your daily needs, or you'd have to go through the stress of converting to fiat back and forth. Having said that, receiving your salary in Bitcoin is not really advisable, its a good currency/investment, but it's as well very volatile, and is yet to attain mainstream adoption, thus it's much better you receive your salary in your fiat currency, and then use the percentage you want to buy Bitcoin for investment purpose.
Please, what do you advise I do in other to hold at least 80% of my salary in bitcoin?
Isn't holding 80% of your salary in Bitcoin investing far more than you can afford to lose? Mind you that your investment should be something you can afford to lose.
3554  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What risks will you get in investing during the COVID-19 pandemic? on: August 28, 2021, 08:41:22 AM
but investing in Bitcoin when the corona outbreak occurs needs to be done with various considerations and maturity, the limited movement of people of course reduces income from many business sectors, both tourism, or food, so during this pandemic, people think a lot about investing and even carefully read market movements.
All these do not really affect Bitcoin, it is the traditional economy that feels all the brunt of lockdowns and closed businesses, that's the reason why many economies are still struggling as a result of the pandemic and the policies they took to curtail it, ironically, this is a very good time to Invest in Bitcoin, with inflation affecting most fiat currencies, Bitcoin is a good hedge to fiat devaluation and a means to retain the value of ones funds.

Having said that, there are always risk concerns with the network, notwithstanding the time or period you invest, but what is necessary is just to work in building sufficient knowledge of the network so you don't invest more than you can afford to lose and also so you don't lose your funds to scammers, that's a few what you have to consider before investing, and then again, Bitcoin has been relatively unaffected by the covid-19 pandemic till this very time, and that's why institutional investors and influential individuals are now investing in Bitcoin, that's enough to prove that Bitcoin is a good investment pre, during and post pandemic.
3555  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: August 27, 2021, 05:28:08 PM
Tomorrow will be two interesting matches between top clubs, Man City vs Arsenal and Liverpool vs Chelsea... In the first match I think the home team will win, and in the second match I hope Liverpool win, they usually play well at home!
Arsenal seem to be finding it hard to get out of the mud at the moment, after losing their first two games and now they have to face City in the third game, making it a possibility of three straight losses and that would be a terrible start to the season and could leave them in 20th position after three games played, they really have to do something to at least get a win or draw tomorrow, anything but a loss, if they lose, I think Arteta could well and truly be on his way out of the club.

Liverpool and Chelsea would be a really interesting game, both sides are in good form and have won their first two games, I think this game is likely to end in a draw as they will both be too careful not to lose all three points.
3556  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My challenge on: August 27, 2021, 04:20:46 PM
Bear in mind that this can happen here on Bitcointalk too, as we post with different degrees of knowledge, and this evolves over time (it could de-evolve too as a matter of fact).
You're correct, but I think the difference here is that wrong information posted in Bitcointalk forum more often than not is corrected, if it's an OP who made an error in their post, subsequent users' replies would correct the falsities, if the mistake is from a reply, users who see it would also put the poster in the right way by correcting such mistakes, I think this is far much different and better than when a newbie all by themself is reading an article online which is wrong with no one to tell him/her that what is being read contains some erroneous information, such newbie would take that info hook, line and sinker, and carry it along till someone along the line prolly makes the necessary corrections.
This means that, even within Bitcointalk, if something is important to you at a given moment in time, it’s best to contrast it through reading answers on multiple threads and/or asking anew (preferably, having gained some prior background on the matter at hand).
This method would likewise work to adequately filter wrong from right information.
3557  Economy / Economics / Re: Debate: Bitcoin vs Gold with Anthony Scaramucci and Peter Schiff on: August 27, 2021, 03:57:26 PM
6. Fools do not buy Bitcoin, wise people buy Bitcoin because they want a way to store money against their depreciating fiat and Bitcoin never fails them. The more the adoption, the more Bitcoin will never fail.
Of course, simply taking a look at the level of mass adoption Bitcoin has had in the last year buttresses that fact, the influx of institutional investors, big time business men, influential individuals etc into the network proves that people who are wealthy, and by extension, understand quite a lot about finances and profitable investments are backing Bitcoin to be a reliable asset which it actually is, thus anyone making negative statements about the network does so just out of their own personal dislike.
7. Bitcoin is not gold 2.0, Bitcoin is Bitcoin, although some people are calling it digital gold but it is Bitcoin,
People actually need to stop calling Bitcoin that, it wrongly makes it look like Bitcoin is a makeshift to gold, which it actually isn't.
3558  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Addict on: August 27, 2021, 03:40:20 PM
Will you get addicted to Bitcoin if that is possible?
No, there is absolutely no doubt about my love for Bitcoin, but there is more to life than it, and from my knowledge of what addiction does to a person, I would not want to be addicted to anything, not even Bitcoin. You're erroneously of the view that addiction will make you a better Bitcoin enthusiast, but I'm afraid that is not true, an addition would only make you invest more than you can afford to lose, take decisions without proper research and make mistakes generally; just understand all there is to about the network without getting addicted, and that's just fine.
3559  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: August 26, 2021, 09:23:50 PM
According to Report from Skysports, Manchester City is interested in signing the Juventus striker Ronaldo on a two years contract. Ronaldo have been in Juventus since 2018, and also scored 81 goals so far. He left Premier League for Serie A in 2009, and it will be great to see him play in the Premier League again after 12 years.
Manchester City are not only interested in Ronaldo, it seems the deal is almost done already and Ronaldo would surprisingly be moving to the blue half of Manchester to play for City, that would ruin the love Manchester United fans have for Ronaldo, but it looks like it is his only option at the moment, he wants to leave Juventus, and for now City is the only team willing to have him in their team and handle his large wages.

I know it's going to be a very difficult decision for Ronaldo, but if he eventually moves to City, I wouldn't blame him at all, that's football for you, City are doing very well, and have a very big chance of winning the champions league this season, Ronaldo is nearing the end of his career, so city is one of the best places for him to be at the moment and add more major trophies to the many he already has in his cabinet.

Am looking forward to seeing my fellow Nigerian youths trooping into crypto investment with their assets, this got me motivated this noon as I come across the news thread on how the American youths are madly falling inlove to crypto investment of their assets and I know that with clearer understanding of this, our own naija youths will choose crypto over the traditional Fiat system.
The mata no hard at all for us to understand, we dy live for Naija, so we dy see wetin dy do our naira, there is a pretty high state of inflation in our country at the moment, the naira is devaluing everyday as the cost of living skyrockets, that's one of the reasons Nigerian youths are interested in cryptocurrencies, to use it as a hedge to the devaluing Nigerian Naira. Another thing be say, unemployment dy worry us well well as things be so, so people dy find better investment opportunity, na so their interest go land for crypto, cause e get the ability to give beta ROI, and thus means wey them go take chop.

The interest of Nigerians in crypto would obviously continue to grow, with the issues created as a result of the pandemic, making the economic situation worse in the country, definitely more people would definitely want to use crypto and we wey be Nigerians go contribute to mainstream adoption wey dy come for front.
