3541  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Question about specific mining website on: April 17, 2022, 07:13:14 AM
Hi all, have anyone here heard about the website name daimakerdao.com? Look like it registered  in Netherland. Thanks
No, but judging by some reddit comments looks like a scam https://www.reddit.com/r/eth_liquidity_scam/comments/tfrq3k/my_money_got_stolen_from_my_coinbase_wallet/

On top of that, their domain is only few months old so I would advise you to stay away from them. Instead wasting your time and risking your money on dodgy mining websites just use that money to buy bitcoin instead and store it in one of the non custodial wallets like Electrum

3542  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Suspicious behaviour of lil17th on: April 17, 2022, 06:48:31 AM

Let him prove that he owns the channels or groups if he wants me to even reconsider the chance of changing  feed back
There is some connection between the owner of NFT Chat Telegram group and @lil17th judging by the info provided in that group, as the username that is mentioned in info is the same as the one shared here by @lil17th. Big question here is whether is he authorized to sell the group. Probably the biggest red flag here is the low price for a group of that size and activity.

Even if this user proves the ownership of the group, I wouldn't make any business with him without escrow.

3543  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to locate a nearby Bitcoin ATM (A step-by-step guide) on: April 16, 2022, 09:18:12 PM
I believe anyone who used an ATM, either used it out of curiosity to know how it works or because he didn't have any other option to buy/sell bitcoins. No one would be willing to use them on a regular basis.
Well that depends on the fees and whether you can keep your anonymity. For example, I've used BTC ATM almost exclusively for four years not because I no other options, but because I was able to buy and sell bitcoin completely anonymously while fee was relatively reasonable (4.5%). Then few years ago fees went up to 6% and that's when I started using the alternatives and BTC ATM only as a last resort. But if you have to go through some sort of KYC in order to use it, then BATM becomes a very bad option due generally higher fees than some other options. I mean if you have to give your documents, might as well buy it online for a much lower fee.

Also, ATM's charge high fees, usually higher than any online exchange would charge.
True, and that's because higher expenditures that BATM owners have. First they have to pay the machine that ain't chap at all (I heard that price is ~10,000 USD for a two way machine), then there's renting of space and last but not the least, taxes as you can't operate that thing illegally, at least not for long. I don't think that BATM operators will be able to offer competitive fees until until bitcoin really goes into mainstream and people start buying it massively so they can lower the fees due high traffic.

t’s been a rocky start to the year for Bitcoin, but experts still say it will hit $100,000 — and that it’s more a matter of when, not if.

Bitcoin’s price is holding just above $40,000 Friday as investors wrestle with concerns over rising inflation, geopolitical tensions, and the possibility of tighter monetary policy by the U.S. Federal Reserve. Bitcoin had recently been in an uptrend; it was trading near $47,000 early last week but then fell under $45,000 last Wednesday after hawkish comments from the Fed. Minutes from the Fed’s March meeting last week showed its plan to shrink its balance sheet by $95 billion each month to combat inflation. Additionally, the latest inflation report released Tuesday showed that consumer prices rose 8.5% in the year through March.

3545  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Buy virtual Mastercard Debit Cards with crypto without KYC. on: April 16, 2022, 02:15:08 PM
What's the point of creating another announcement when you already have one ( locked now) in the very same board? Is it because all those comments in the previous one and you just wanted to start it all over? If yes, then that's not the best approach, to lock the old topic and create new one if you want to be seen as a legitimate service provider.

Are there people like this here? Doing some multi account with such different opinions or somehow behaviour?
Yes of course. We've seen many times brand new accounts creating topics in meta/reputation and accusing reputable members for all sort of stuff. Those are of course alts of already existing members that are afraid they will get tagged by DT members. Even theymos doesn't have anything against creating an alt for sharing unpopular opinion.

I don't have a problem with alt accounts as long as they're not used for evading bans. If you're hesitant to say something controversial because you don't want it to be associated with your name, please create an alt account and say it.
3547  Other / Meta / Re: How do you check plagiarism? on: April 16, 2022, 09:29:00 AM
There are other advanced tools which other people mentioned earlier but I've never used them. They are probably good at what they do too.
I tried some of those tools and in the end I reverted to a simple Google search as in huge majority of cases its more than good enough.

If a person is clever enough to commit plagiarism and not get caught, he is probably smart enough to construct his own sentences so I believe plagiarism is done by stupid people mostly.
I wouldn't say stupid, more like dishonest and/or lazy. Then there is another small percentage of people that plagiarize due utter ignorance. That of course is not a valid excuse and wont save you for being banned, but it happens.
3548  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin could hit $100,000 within a year, crypto firm's CEO predicts! on: April 16, 2022, 08:22:49 AM
For what it's worth, in January 2020 Trenchev predicted bitcoin's price would top $50,000 by the end of that year. "Everybody was laughing me out," he says.
So he is using false prediction as a confirmation that he was right, just because BTC reached 50k few months later? Great!

The worst thing about these useless predictions is that some of them will end up being right, and the people who gave those will be seen as gurus by crypto media and ignorant investors and may even do investments based on their "predictions".
3549  Local / Off-topic (Hrvatski) / Re: Kutak za kulturni trenutak on: April 16, 2022, 07:39:16 AM
https://www.themoviedb.org/search?query=bitcoin

3550  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mentioned on a ongoing Netflix series Queen of the south on: April 16, 2022, 07:09:02 AM
I don't think you really had to make a thread about this. We are not in 2010 anymore. 12 years passed since 2010. You think we should hype because some actor from netflix talked about bitcoin?
Couldn't agree more. I reported this topic yesterday to be deleted as redundant when there were only couple of replies but as we can see, report didn't come through (status is unhandled so there is still a chance). Bitcoin discussion board is a mess due large amount of pointless topics that's been created on the regular basis and this one imho falls into this category.
3551  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: April 16, 2022, 06:53:37 AM
The Russian locale has recently turned into a home of swearing, trolling and hatred. In 3 years on the forum, I have not seen so much hate as in the last 2 months. Fewer posts are being written about cryptocurrencies and more and more about the politics and hatred of one nation for another.
Sorry to hear that, but honestly I am not surprised that's going on in your local board considering the situation and the fact that both Russians and Ukrainians share one local board. Add on that very lenient moderation here when it comes to trolling, hatred and swearing (even though it sucks what's going on in your board I wouldn't like this forum becoming like some others where you can get banned just for saying someone that he is lying piece of shit or something along those lines) and you get this.

The Russian locale has turned into a place where representatives of two nations call each other fascists, and some create topics and admire the deaths of the dead and wish them all sorts of nasty things.
Is all that stuff at least contained in one child board, or its all over? Anyway, I hope things calm down soon and people focus more on what they have in common rather than what divides them, but realistically speaking I don't think war is ending anytime soon, meaning neither the chaos in Russian board.

I think this is the time for moderators of the board to sit up and regulate the board by deleting anything that will instigate hatred and division in the board.
While it sucks what's been going on there, I am not sure that it would be a good move long term. This forum is one of the rare places where you can say what you think (excluding death threats) without being in the constant fear of getting banned, and if you start making exceptions it might become one.
3552  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Professional newbie on: April 15, 2022, 08:48:58 PM
(1) Professional writing style.
Just because someone knows how to write and has a knowledge of forum posting etiquette doesn't necessarily mean that is an alt account. Forums have been around for many years before bitcointalk so for some this is not the first forum.

(2) Offering unsolicited sort of professional advice and help to others on the forum about forum activities instead of being a newbie who is supposed to learn to walk before running.
That is a classic sign that it may be the case of alt account, newbie that immediately starts creating topics telling others what they should do on forum hoping that they will scoop some easy merit. Luckily, other members became quite good at seeing through those attempts.

What is the likely origin of professional newbies here in forum;
Is it Origin 2? (Probability of being an account owned by a user who is already a member here)
Probably this. Every once in a while a legit newbie shows up but more often than not its the alt account.
3553  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: April 15, 2022, 01:55:51 PM
This user is also active in the English section, and the number 375 does not mean that he wrote all of them in the Russian locale.
That shitposter and troll indeed made 375 posts in Russian local board during March, as in that table of the most active users I count only posts written in local boards. His total post count for March is 427 so yeah, he's been active all over the place.
3554  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: April 15, 2022, 01:24:43 PM
If Nigerian Local Board was to be a full board with child boards, my post count will be higher than 21.
Not just yours but probably everyone else's there as I can imagine how inconvenient is to write about everything in one topic. Nothing else to do other than remaining active there and hopefully one day you get your own local board

So, are the 375 posts not a problem to the Russian board or is he a good quality poster?
He is a troll that became especially active ever since Russia invaded Ukraine and that explains his high post count.
3555  Economy / Economics / Re: Man spent $150 eating every meal at Six Flags since 2014 to pay off student debt on: April 15, 2022, 11:20:23 AM
I remember watching some documentary about someone who did an experiment on what happened after eating only junk food for 1 month, and the results were not pleasant at all.
So that guy did something similar what Morgan Spurlock did almost 20 years ago in his well known documentary Super Size Me in which he ate exclusively at McDonald's for a month, 3 meals per day. At first he even threw up few times from all that junk food, but after some time he became very addicted to it, getting very nervous between his daily doses of junk food. Results were 12 kg extra, high cholesterol, mood swings, liver problems etc.

However, I must admit that I did not know that such services exist, and for someone who would, say, eat one such meal every week, it is really more than a good offer. Many must have been angry when the theme parks canceled such an offer, and all because of one man - he certainly no longer visits theme parks after all Cheesy
Here in Europe I don't even remember seeing "all you can eat" type of restaurants, let alone something like this. Then again, you can imagine the quality of food that you get if you pay it that cheap.
3556  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: TacaliCoin - Project with Zero Purpose and Goal on: April 15, 2022, 10:11:56 AM
Raising a project with no clear goal and product or service, with a sole purpose to crowdfund their own business.
To be honest, you just described like 99% of the altocin projects that appear in that board.

I'm not sure if we can consider the project as a scam and thus, if this board is the appropriate board.
When I am not sure whether someone is a scammer or not, I create the topic in reputation board to hear other people's opinion and if it turns out that my suspicions are correct, I just move the thread in scam accusation. You can see example of that in my Bitwings topic.

Regarding Tacalicon I wasn't sure either, but when I read the nonsense about sending people to space I have no doubts that this is a classic money grab, and that's best case scenario.

If you hodl TACA and we reach the step to hire people to work and travel in space , when you send your CV for selection, you will have the chance to be part of a space cargo crew, explorer, colony worker and so on.
3557  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Novosti on: April 15, 2022, 07:37:13 AM
Stvar je u tome sto su mu postavili uvjet da ne smije imati vise od 14.9 % dionica Twittera ako udje u upravni odbor. A posto sada znamo da njega zanima puno vise od tih ~15%, naravno da je odbio ponudu.

For so long as Mr. Musk is serving on the Board and for 90 days thereafter, Mr. Musk will not, either alone or as a member of a group, become the beneficial owner of more than 14.9% of the Company’s common stock outstanding at such time, including for these purposes economic exposure through derivative securities, swaps, or hedging transactions.

Cheesy
3558  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How Do I Handle This Coingeek Proposal? on: April 14, 2022, 10:33:01 AM
I know a guy that works for a crypto marketing company and he is on fixed $2k salary, for approximately 15 medium sized (600-700 word) articles per month. Divide that and you get ~$130 per article. Just to note that he is a professional writer, English native and doing this for years.

Keep in mind that competition for those kind of jobs is tough as people all over the world can apply for it so if I am you I would be moderate in demands, and if you prove yourself you can always renegotiate. That of course doesn't mean that you shouldn't negotiate if they try to low ball you and offer like $15 per article (very low imo), as its important to know your worth and not sell yourself cheap.

How big is this company, considering they're behind BSV?
Coingeek is a known site (I don't visit it though due their pro BSV stance) but even if they are big that doesn't necessarily mean that they are paying very good.
3559  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to Create a Quality Post (Topics). on: April 14, 2022, 08:23:19 AM
In this forum, the quality of a post is invariably determined by the number of merits it attracted.
While the amount of merit received can be indication of post quality, its certainly not the rule and is wrong to think that merit=post quality. There are so many factors that can affect amount of merit posts receive, starting from the board where it is written. After all, I've seen plenty of c/p that received a lot of merit and quality posts that didn't get enough merit.
3560  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why beginners should pay attention to their privacy on: April 14, 2022, 06:53:25 AM
This is an educative piece of content, I watched the YouTube video and I must say I have learned a lot about how our activities can be monitored even without our prior notice on the internet, which is outrageous and preposterous. However, all being said, I think the new crypto browser by "Opera" will be of better use here, as its promise to offer top-notch internet security with a free VPN, Ad Blocker, and Tracker Blocker built into the browser. But actually, I don't know true their statement is as I'm not a tech wizard, but you can go try it.

So here is a picture of it on the Google Play Store for you to download and start using because that's what I'm using now.

Tor is a better option. Another advice: download applications directly from the website, don't trust Google PlayStore as they are known for lack of due diligence.
