3541  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Antivaccination propaganda here and there. on: February 23, 2019, 05:07:03 PM
The incorrect and misleading propaganda is pro-vaccination. The anti-vaccination reports are simply pointing out the way vaccines destroy the immune system, and are used to reduce fertility, and as part of the global eugenics project. Useless and destructive vaccines are also being used to siphon money out of the nations' economies, and to feed the profits of the Pharma companies.

I'd much rather like that useless vaccine to destroy my system than measles, hepatitis, tetanus, and other nasty infections. If you want to die young you're free to hide somewhere in the wilderness, until you get a nasty cut or a bite from a rabid animal.
If you want to live in a society where germs are present, you have to protect yourself because it's so easy to contract something. It's either that or wearing a gas mask all the time.
3542  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-02-22] Bitcoin Transactions per Second Approaching All-time High on: February 23, 2019, 04:26:41 PM
It should pass the ATH pretty soon since bitcoin is faster and more popular now than ever.

I saw a review of the BlueWallet for LN and will give it a try this weekend. Hope that the current state of the network routes the payments more reliably than the last time I tried sending LN transactions.

I already have it on my phone. Very easy to use. The only downside is extremely low number of active LN wallets that you can send money to. Most of these LN transactions are people testing it out and sending money to themselves, or their friends.

3543  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-02-23] John McAfee Affirms One Bitcoin Will Equal a Million Dollars Before on: February 23, 2019, 04:08:49 PM
What a comfort to know the same man running for US president while being an outlaw has reaffirmed (for nth time) his most (in)famous prediction. I will now sleep better at night. Maybe even sell my dignity for a bitcoin or two since I'll get a million out of it in little under two years.

I should probably buy his unhackable Bitcoin wallet too. Oh wait...

He better pray it hits at least $500k or he'll have to eat his dick.
Actually, seeing him deny things on camera, things he had said just months before, makes me certain that if it doesn't hit 500k or 1 mill McAfee will just disappear, or deny saying it, and he will not eat any part of his body, especially that one.
3544  Other / Politics & Society / Re: A world without borders? on: February 21, 2019, 06:39:36 PM
Some of the supporters of such open borders are giving an example of the EU as a working example, but it's also an example of how it all can turn to ruin. The EU comprises of rather similar countries (the same skin colour, similar level of education, the same main religion), and it still doesn't work because some member states are opposing certain EU regulations. When they allowed migrants from Africa to move to the EU all hell broke loose.
3545  Economy / Economics / Re: Craig Wright is once again claiming he's Satoshi on: February 21, 2019, 06:20:50 PM
He doesn't have to claim anything. There's one thing he can do and it will prove beyond any doubt that he is the founder, but we and him know that he can't do it because he doesn't have access to founder's coins, hence he's not who he claims to be. Craig is running out of money and he's trying to earn some on popularity. If he could somehow make the world believe that he is Satoshi he could become a celebrity. People would pay big money to have him on their tv shows, podcasts, youtube interviews, and so on.
He was one of the first people involved and this confuses many people, because he knows some details and his name appears here and there. Fortunately for the whole crypto community, he's not the one.
3546  Other / Politics & Society / Re: once crypto crushes indebted US dollar, will america become tribal again? on: February 21, 2019, 06:05:13 PM
Well yes, there is always a fiat currency dying somewhere in the world. Though none of the ones that are dying are the 'world currency' and the 'reserve of the world' We're talking about minor currencies from countries with failing monetary policies.

I'm not an advocate of Fiat by the way, I'm just someone who thinks in reality (or at least I think so, and that wasn't a shot at you)

I'm trying to be realistic as well, which is why I don't deny the possibility. I agree that your outcome is much more probable, but it's not a 99:1 scenario, probably more like 70:30.

fiat currencies are trusted tools of governance,

limited currencies that are being set into global market are just fixed brands, you cannot know weather a young generation starts to desire freeing itself from it

there could be a global conscious shift over time, in which you (the bitcoin hodlers and shillers)

just look like some idiots with some "coins"

We will look much better than you, nocoiners, who missed the boat and are now preaching doom.
3547  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is taxation theft? on: February 21, 2019, 04:44:14 PM
Theft is taking property (ies) without the legal authority to do so. Of course, taxation is approved by law and therefore is not theft.

Some people call it theft may be because they are forced to give up money that they would not otherwise want to give.

Legal authority means nothing if the thief can set their own laws. One of the most important principles of the law is equality, which doesn't exist when you're confronted with the the lawgiver. What would you say if I had the authority to set the law and made it so that you owe me money every year at 1% of your income? You wouldn't be to happy, but it might find it acceptable. The next year it would be 2%, and so on. At which point do you really start fighting it? When they decide that you owe them 10%, 20%, or maybe 50%? Many countries ramp up taxation and people are too scared to say enough.
3548  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is taxation theft? on: February 19, 2019, 09:03:35 PM
As long as there's income tax I'm going to keep saying that it's theft. Income tax is incredibly unjust and should be abolished. VAT is probably the most just out of the taxes that you can pay (if you can call a tax just at all) because it takes advantage of the economy and incentivises it to grow. The more people earn the more they spend every day and the more money ends up back in the governments pocket. If the government provides aid to businesses and makes sure it's easy for people to make money under its wing, they will reward it.
As for spending, this should be localized as much as possible so that your taxes are spend directly on the things around you. This makes people see and feel the positive effects of taxation. If taxes are being pocketed by fat pigs in the capital it's all for nothing.
In short, taxation should be minimal and just. Politicians should get minimum wages. Being a civil servant is a privilege, not an entitlement.
3549  Other / Politics & Society / Re: once crypto crushes indebted US dollar, will america become tribal again? on: February 19, 2019, 08:45:27 PM
Yet again, this guy (OP) is a pretty big manic with ideas that come out of his ass. I don't understand why people think the US dollar is going to fall, and crypto is just going to swoop in and take over.
This may sound unreal at first, but if we add some history to the mix it starts to acquire shape.
All fiat currencies tend to hyperinflate and die at some point and their average lifespan is less than 50 years. The oldest existing currency is the British Pound, if i'm not mistaken.
Most countries in the world had several currencies already, so yes, USD could die and will almost certainly die at some point. The transition can be painless, like the introduction of the Euro in the EU, or not so much, like the fall of VEF, ZWD, and many others. Will Bitcoin take over? I don't think so, but it will serve as an alternative for people scared of another great depression.

Quote
If USD falls, everything falls. You're talking about a currency that everyone uses around the world, and if the US has issues with banking / stock market then the rest of the world has issues as well.

Crypto will die if USD dies.

Banks worldwide use it, normal people don't. I live in the EU and I travel quite a lot, but I've never been to the US and I remember one time, about 8 years ago, that I held a dollar bill. It was the second time in my life.
Crypto will take a huge hit if USD dies, but it won't die, just like gold won't die when a fiat currency dies. There's a fiat currency dying somewhere right now and the commodity and crypto markets remain unaffected.
3550  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-02-15] Argentina Settles Export Deal With Paraguay Using Bitcoin on: February 18, 2019, 10:20:33 PM
Why would they choose bitcoin if all they wanted was fiat? They immediately converted the money into fiat after the deal so if it was Argentina paying Paraguay, for some reason they didn't want to buy the Guarani. Now what could be the reason? Inflation? The Guarani is inflating rapidly, because you could buy 5500 of it for 1 USD a year ago and now you can get close to 6100, but it's still not a hyperinflation that could change the value of the trade within days or weeks, especially such a small trade. Many of us, bitcoiners, make trades of 7k USD every month. This is a strange story if you ask me.
3551  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: BitForex exchange- is it safe? on: February 18, 2019, 09:53:10 PM
I have used them today to unload some BSV and everything went fine. Coins were registered within 15 min and available for trading and withdrawal was instant. Let's hope things will remain this way. I don't know what the limits are because they don't give you a clear indication of how much you can withdraw without going through KYC procedures (unlike Binance that shows you 2BTC/24h limit from the start), but I like that they aren't forcing KYC from the moment you create an account but allow you to trade freely.
3552  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-02-15]Coinbase Users Can Now Backup Private Keys on: February 17, 2019, 05:18:24 PM
Not your keys = not your bitcoins!
If you keep money on exchange it doesn't matter if it's a cold storage or a google drive. You don't own your coins anymore.
The only positive thing about coinbase is that they are insured so in case of a MtGox scenario there won't be such a shitstorm but you will get your money back. At least we can hope it will work like that because with coinbase everything is possible. BCH owners had to wait for months before getting their SV and you still can't trade SV for Bitcoin. Not to mention the shit with BTG which Bitcoin owners still did not receive. I heard people are planning to sue coinbase for holding their BTG.
3553  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-02-15] Countdown begins for new BTC ETF on: February 17, 2019, 05:10:58 PM
With the above in mind we should ask an important question. If they failed to prevent the biggest ponzi scheme in history, is there a reason why this institution should still exist? They are obviously unable to assess the risk and properly audit companies, what is their purpose then? We could argue that the only thing they are doing is slowing down the progress, going against free market structures, making companies lose money and time because these applications aren't free. They cost them every time and a rejection means they will have to reapply and lose more money. Is the only purpose of the sec to delay everything as much as possible and earn money for the government? Or maybe to act as a deterrent? Watch out fraudsters we are here and there's a chance we'll see what you're doing and fine you! But if you're legit we may also fine you, we need nice cars and houses. They're like that bouncer at the gate that you have to bribe or confuse by making up a good story.
3554  Economy / Economics / Re: The Consensus is Clear: You Should Own Gold Now on: February 17, 2019, 05:00:24 PM
I own some silver and find it underpriced at the moment, but gold isn't a bad choice. The problem I always face, and I believe most people are, is limited funds. Most of us can spar a certain amount of money a year like 10k USD and we have to choose between many available investments. Should I buy silver, gold, bitcoin, or maybe an altcoin. If I already have bitcoin should I get more or buy something else? I think that cryptocurrencies are becoming more popular and will have much bigger gains in the next 2-3 years than gold or silver.
3555  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Democracy Yes OR No ??? on: February 15, 2019, 02:31:33 PM
The problem with democracy is that everything is decided by the majority, and what does the majority comprise of? Is there more smart or more dumb people in every country?
Is there more academic teachers, people with higher education, or bums, drunkards, morons, and such?

When you give a specialist in the field a single vote and you also give an unqualified worker with only primary school education 1 vote as well, how do you think a decision will be made? Of course by the smart and wealthy people looking for ways to persuade the uneducated to lend them their votes. As a result, here's how a typical democratic system works:

There's a problem that has to be voted over.
People with deep understanding of the problem are either for or against it, so they divide themselves into groups.
Both groups have only 20% of votes each (at best), so they have to look for ways to persuade the simple people.
Both groups give promises to the people that apply to their basic needs, like if you vote for that new nuclear power plant we'll lower your electric bills. You'll have more money! While the other group will take the fear mongering stance of: If you vote for that power plant your children will have cancer!
And that's what it ultimately comes down to. Lobbying, persuading, buying the dumb majority, or scaring them.
3556  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Africa isn't poor - Africa is being raped. on: February 15, 2019, 02:14:12 PM
There's many reasons why Africa is in the state that it is and many of them have been mentioned in the thread. Take slavery for instance. Slavery did not start because white people were hunting for black men, putting them in chains and transporting to the US, the UK, and other countries. Most slaves were simply bought. THey were treated like property in their local villages and sold by the elders for alcohol, knives, and other things the white people were bringing.
The next question could be: why aren't they developing? If you go to Uganda or Nigeria you'll see that the people there aren't interested in education or building anything. They live a happy life drinking homemade alcohol, taking drugs and feasting together. While drunk they conceive children that later run around chasing chickens and goats all day and watching their parents get wasted. I can bet you that these countries aren't going to get anywhere in the next 50 years.
3557  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-02-14]Cryptopia Hack: Police Allows Exchange to Resume Operations on: February 15, 2019, 01:59:12 PM
Do cryptopia have the consideration on compensating on its users regarding on the loss? If not, then i don't see that there would be more users who would trust up this exchange once again.
They should resume when the issue had been completely clarified and what are the exact actions would be possible made by the exchange itself.

The only operations they're going to resume is the one that leads to reimbursements. Like you've said, nobody is going to trust them and the business is inevitably going to file for bankruptcy. Once your name gets tarnished you're done for, like Mt Gox and some other exchanges have experienced. There's just too much competition for compromised exchanges to survive.
3558  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ukraine - man arrested for stealing bitcoins and altcoins on: February 15, 2019, 01:53:17 PM
As it was silly for him to spend that kind of money on gambling. If I stole that much, I'd spend it on something useful. But either way, it's a good thing he got caught.

It doesn't really matter since he was caught. He's most likely going to get his properties seized and auctioned off to give back what he stole from his victims. I can understand his way of thinking because an addict doesn't predict the consequences he just acts. He needed to feed his gambling addiction so he chose to steal and now he's going to end up in jail. A tragedy if you think about it.
3559  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First seastead is now in international waters. Only currencies accepted..฿ & BTC on: February 11, 2019, 12:33:15 PM
Imagine living on a buoy that is doing this all day. Vomit alert! Lips sealed

Another thing is mooring your fleet of boats to the house. You will need boats to be able to go to shore and back and I'd imagine these have to be secured for the night or they will become the first target for thieves. I've read a story once of people who took their yacht to a nice island for holidays and one night they woke up to the sounds of some natives trying to steal their lifeboat.
3560  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-02-10] Bitcoin to Rise 84% in 2019, Bitcoin ETF to be Eventually Approved on: February 11, 2019, 12:19:45 PM
Those are experts of the same caliber as Bobby Lee and Max Keiser who predicted that bitcoin would go above 20k in 2018 and that it wouldn't correct below 10k USD. Cheesy
Most of those people are delusional and are taking numbers straight from a crystal ball. Even if the ETF gets approved this year, which sounds very likely, there won't be some incredible influx of investors. They already can buy coins on OTC markets and there are custody solutions present for them not to worry about the  safety of their coins. There's so many bag holders out there that the road to 20k will be long and bumpy.
