3541  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer tag: theymos ; bitcoin.me ; others unknown at this time. on: October 08, 2012, 08:16:49 PM
1) I've always appreciated how both Theymos and Mt. Gox have managed this forum.  I've had my complaints, but they could do much much worse and their performance speaks well of them (imo.)

Possibly OT, but how is Mt. Gox affiliated with forum management?  I was unaware of a connection.

MT.Gox pays for hosting, I think.
3542  Other / Meta / Re: Scammer tag needs an opposite? on: October 08, 2012, 08:10:15 PM
A +1 Button on each user would be fine.

Each user can give a user only one +1 and also remove it. Otherways some users would start paying for multiple votes.

Also newbees can't vote to make sure one doesn't use multiple sockpuppets to boost his own ratings.

I would like that.

Edit: On the other hand, my profile would always say to me: "You have 0 friends"  Cry
3543  Economy / Services / Re: I can get you diverse academic papers on: October 08, 2012, 07:47:46 PM
It's also illegal as all hell, but I'm sure no one cares.

First sale doctrine  Grin

Doesn't apply to academic journals articles. Basically you only buy a license to use, you do not buy ownership.

Copyright law for scientific literature is all kinds of fucked up. For academic institutions it's even not THAT bad. You don't want to know what hoops you have to jump through to use them in a commercial environment, and that's not even touching on the massive amounts of money you need to spend on copyright clearance. I'm talking several millions in dirty fiat money here.

Year, I agree getting this might be "questionable" to put it lightly.

And that I'm outraged that this cost up to 30$ for one single article doesn't make it better.

This service would allow me to read a few selected article that interest me for a reasonable price, that I would otherwise have no option to read.

And I'm still not convinced that giving a article you have to another person is illegal.

Selling them on the other hand?

But he still can give me the paper to read and if it helps me he gets a donation for pointing me in the right direction. And that's basically what he does.

(Sorry for confused writing style, I'm tired)
3544  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer tag: theymos ; bitcoin.me ; others unknown at this time. on: October 08, 2012, 07:33:40 PM
MPOE-PR, just out of curiosity.

What do you expect to archive by this?

Do you think this will be successful and theymos gives himself a scammer tag? --> probably not, you aren't that stupid.

Do you think this will attract new customers to your exchange? --> I fail to see how that should work.

Do you just enjoy trolling have the feeling to be the sole fighter for whatever? --> That's what I would put my money on (not literally).

As from you previous reactions it seems I also have to say this:

I'm not trying to offend you, I just don't understand your motivations.
3545  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Steam Games. Software and More for BTC on: October 08, 2012, 03:28:23 PM
1/3 of Steam price, wow that's an awesome price.

How is this possible? Or are you just joking?
3546  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: BAFIN VERBIETET GEWERBLICHEN BITCOINHANDEL on: October 08, 2012, 01:15:36 PM

so echt "netto vom brutto" is da nix.

Saw this study today, seems relevant to this thread:

Any more information about this study?

When look at the outcome, I fear that's the kind of study where the result is already fixed and the questions are asked in the way to archive that goal.
3548  Local / Biete / Re: UPDATE# 11 - Bitcoin Börse, Überarbeitet ! Dividenden Ausschüttung 75 BTC on: October 08, 2012, 12:09:13 PM
Wow! If you compare the English text to the German one you see just how bad Google translate is, I didn't recognize it before.

bitsire, please go through with you civil suit, not because you will see your coins again, but because, thanks to known identities, this is the first time we really have a chance on laying hands on scammers, an bring them to justice. By doing so we can crate an example for future scammers.

That it it bitcoin doesn't mean you get away with it.

Please hold back from threats, like hiring black marked guys.

Threatening peoples lives or health is a penal offense, even on a internet forum.
3549  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do we get the women on board? on: October 07, 2012, 11:19:04 PM
About 1,7% of humans are born hermaphrodites, we have over 5%.
Why is bitcoin so interesting for this gender?

Nice made up number.

0.033% to 0.05%

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intersexuality

From the wiki article you linked to:

Quote
According to Fausto-Sterling's definition of intersex,[79] on the other hand, 1.7 percent of human births are intersex

Reading you own references helps.
3550  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do we get the women on board? on: October 07, 2012, 09:38:28 PM
To be realistic, the few women in here is only a symptom of where bitcoin is operating.

There are still about 90% Geeks here. (Which I count myself to)

It would be interesting how many % of the people here are not working in some kind of IT-Field, or study something IT related.

I think it's still less than 25%.
3551  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do we get the women on board? on: October 07, 2012, 09:06:51 PM
The sex of 20 of the people in the poll is other. lol

Wait, bitcoin has only 1% more women than hermaphrodites?

About 1,7% of humans are born hermaphrodites, we have over 5%.
Why is bitcoin so interesting for this gender?

Other includes trans-gendered people, not just hermaphrodites.

Ok, that explains this. That means we are on average on other and have only very few women?

Edit: Aren't trans-gendered people changing themselves to a specific sex and would at least consider themselves as male or female?

I don't thing transgeder people would speak of themself as neither male or female.

3553  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Gresham's Law, Anyone? on: October 07, 2012, 07:35:05 PM
Here is how I make it:

I have my general Bitcoins that I save (not very much, though).

Everytime I want something for my Fiat, I look if I can get it with BTC somewhere. If I can, I buy BTC for Fiat and then buy the product with BTC.

It cost you nothing extra expect for a little time (you would have spend the money anyway) and this helps the BTC community grow.

Sadly, expect from a view games there hasn't been much that I could get, but this will change.

Hahaha, awesome:

Naturally, the government's response was to print even more money in larger and larger denominations, finally culminating with the 100,000,000,000,000,000,000 pengo note (imagine a hundred quintillion dollar bill).

Also:

Love it.

3556  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Quick, answer! Is BTC 0.000152 big or small? on: October 07, 2012, 04:31:29 PM
0.000152 BTC = 0.152 mBTC or 152 uBTC.  The reference client already supports this.

Then we should refer to the mBTC as THE BTC coin and the wallet should list the mBTC as the coins contained. Meaning if you have 0.5 BTC you see 500 in your wallet.

But this is missing my point. Do not think about this issue from a pure technical or mathematical solution. Yes, I am aware we can go down to 8 digits.

Think about it from a Bitcoin mass-adoption perspective. Businesses, merchants, "regular" buyers and sellers are not used in calculating and dealing with 0.00xxx prices. I strongly believe that it would help Bitcoin adoption if most of the transactions will be priced in that sweet spot range of 10-2-104.

If you are using the standard client, you can already set it to display mBTC or even μBTC. So just set it in the way that you are the most comfortable with.

Solved!
3557  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: http://www.pyramining.com/ - Mining Company on: October 07, 2012, 04:04:12 PM
It is not gaming the system but intelligent use of the system in place.  I do not intend to lay it out to you here, but I do share ideas with those I sponsor!

Other than using an account whitch is a top level account, I see only the way to user your own reveals with bigger investments, to maximise you bonus. But that doesn't speed up payout only increase your profit.

3559  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: Glbse.com schliesst on: October 06, 2012, 07:01:32 PM
