3541  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: This December is a weird one on: December 07, 2021, 08:54:13 AM
From my observation OP, I think the market, as it's today in this month of December, is that it's trying to imitate the past records of other post Bitcoin halving years by dipping at a time like this. There is nothing unusual or black about what's happening now. It's normal and nothing unusual about it. This is a festive period and a lot of investors like to take out profit for necessities or satisfaction, causing price to crash.

... engage in massive wallet farming, discord farming then you can care about money.
What do you mean by walllet and discord farming? Could you kindly explain this.
3542  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Is it good to penalize airdrop hunters? on: December 07, 2021, 06:40:25 AM
They're basically "free money" for not doing anything in return.
I don't see how it's free money, considering the fact that airdrop participants are asked to do certain SM tasks before they're qualified to get rewards. What about the shares and tags? What about the email request (by the way, some of the projects even end up selling these emails at dark web). It's obvious that those still indulging airdrops now are merely wasting their time. It's like getting into faucets – much noise, less reward (sometimes, no rewards at all.)

Some projects have been widely successful after an airdrop, while others have gone all the way down the drain.
I ain't sure distributing airdrops can lead to the collapse of any project because what teams distribute is an infinitesimal percentage. If anything, airdrops help spread and advertise projects.

Do you think it's a good idea to penalize airdrop hunters? Will this do more harm or good to the adoption of crypto/Blockchain tech?
I think people should even stop thinking they can make any gains from airdrops and jettison the act of getting involved in it. This way, devs and their team will learn how not to take participants for granted.
3543  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hidden Gems? on: December 07, 2021, 05:24:14 AM
I want to share with you one of the hidden gems that I found. Ethernity CLOUD.
To what end is this project? Are you a team member or you just shilled for them? I mean since August this post was made till this time in December, this project still hasn't made it to either the coinmarketcap or coingecko sites. Is this project dead or what?

3544  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is the meme coin still worth holding on: December 06, 2021, 05:04:34 PM
when do you intend selling it all off to buy a more purposeful coin or token.
What do you mean by "a more purposeful" coin or token? Do you've any particular alternative or you're simply referring to Bitcoin too like many do, thinking only Bitcoin is worth investing in and that all alts are shitcoins? Well, if that's any consolation to you; I will like to let you know that I bought more Shiba Inu yesterday. Shib, Dogecoin and Safemoon are about the memecoins I can encourage anyone to hodl or buy. There must be a reason so many exchanges have them on their platforms. They can't be that shitty and useless.
3545  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Give me your vote on Citizen Finance token, HOLD / SELL ? on: December 06, 2021, 02:59:04 PM
Yes, that's right, New CIFI pays about 40% of the rights of bounty participants, there are still prizes left that they haven't distributed, hopefully by the end of this year they can keep their promise as promised. Citizen Finance is an interesting project.
It will be in the best interest to speedily distribute what is left of their debt to hunters now that the token had dipped like every other alts at the moment. If they don't do that now it may be very difficult to muster the courage to do it once price begins to fly again. Another bull rally may likely see CIFI blow past $500. Price dropped from $386 a few days ago to $124 today. I think it will be to the team's advantage to do it now. That's if they really want to pay off hunters. Most times these projects purposely don't like paying at the end of the bounty.
3546  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Recurring issues of plagiarism. on: December 06, 2021, 02:05:30 PM
Right, but I meant cases of flagrant plagiarism. Stealing information rather than sharing it.
Nope, I wasn't disparaging your comment at all. I understood you well the first time. I was only just wondering why any poster would think referencing a copied post won't earn them merit if it's deserving of it. It's better to own up that one didn't originate an article than copy it without reference. There's no dignity in doing that.
3547  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Question about trading on: December 06, 2021, 11:53:31 AM
The best way to go about it if you want to entrust your hard earned cash to someone else to do the trading would be to ask them for "investor's password" to the account they're trading. That way you get to follow the account real time and know their ability. You can also place your trades too looking at what they're doing on the platform, and choosing lot size appropriate for you by yourself. Trading isn't as easy as those so called professional traders make it sound. A lot of these traders are losers who only get to advertise their few wins and make it look like they always hit the spot. However, I suggest you learn the act of trading yourself rather than solely depend on someone to do it for you.
3548  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Recurring issues of plagiarism. on: December 06, 2021, 07:48:18 AM
But I assume many people who copy/paste information on internet in order to get merits,
Well, I don't see how referencing the source of an article will detract it from getting merited by any right discerning individual. I don't see why I won't merit any constructive article I have learnt a thing or two from if I've merit to splash, even if it's not originally from OP but referenced. For me, I easily find out articles that are not genuinely written by OP especially if OP is a newbie. If such an article isn't referenced, I don't merit it. I move on. There are certain level of knowledge I expect in articles or posts made by newbies and this is made more pronounced when a certain post is well packed with information and knowledge deeper than OP's other posts.
3549  Other / Meta / Re: Interesting facts about the merit system on: December 06, 2021, 06:07:32 AM
A campaign manager won't consider a user with 7 merits earned in last 120 days over another with say 40 merits. The rules and requirements of sig campaigns help prevent spam, some managers count only constructive posts so it all boils down to the manager
While we all agree that most Bitcoin paying signature campaigns require a minimum of 5 merits earned within 120 days, that doesn't necessarily mean that there aren't some campaign managers that accept posters with zero merit earned within that time space. Sometimes, posters have quality posts that aren't merited. It happens so and some of these managers know that. The hardworking ones among them do check post history when accepting participants. I have even seen cases where posters with less merits earned got accepted ahead of those who've excess merits.

3551  Economy / Services / Re: Is it me or is FTX Pro app EXTREMELY slow? on: December 06, 2021, 04:19:15 AM
It's ok from my end. The problem should be from your side. I suggest you run the latest version on it by updating it. That should take care of the issue. Alternatively, if you use a phone for it, just make ensure that the phone storage has enough space that won't clog other apps from running well. You can do this by deleting unnecessary apps or videos on your phone.
3552  Other / Meta / Re: Interesting facts about the merit system on: December 05, 2021, 06:53:34 PM
I think the reason for more merited users in Bitcoin campaigns than alt campaigns is basically simple – bounty hunters don't really put much efforts in their posts like those in Bitcoin paying campaigns and as such don't attract much following and reading. I ain't sure most bounty managers even take out time to go through posts made by those who promote their products. I'm referring to on–forum posts by signature bounties. Personally, I had on few occasions tried to merit some users who had over 200 activities and posts but zero merit. Upon checking their post history I discovered that there was no post deserving of being merited as virtually all were bounty posts and weekly reports. Only a few bounty participants make it a point of duty to write constructively.
3553  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why should I use Kucoin over Binance? on: December 05, 2021, 02:37:47 PM
Besides the "No KYC" requirement of Kucoin unlike with Binance where it's mandatory, Kucoin has a more friendly navigation on its site. Newbies will easily understand their way around Kucoin than with Binance which has so many confusing programmes and features. Let me drop this spoiler alert – that Kucoin doesn't demand KYC now doesn't mean it wouldn't in the near future. Remember that Binance didn't make KYC mandatory until lately. Who knows, Kucoin may toe that line too.
3554  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a chance for Bitcoin Recovery? on: December 05, 2021, 05:57:06 AM
The amount scammed was $30k. I don't know how much was paid to the charge back company.
Mpamaegbu, you're correct I learnt from her mistake. No one can fool me to give away my hard earned money. It won't work.
Ouch! That's really huge an amount of money to lose. I'm already doing a mental calculation what that amount can buy in my local fiat. It's a hard lesson to learn, both for your relative and every other person here. However, I won't be flummoxed to later read here that someone else falls for the same trick. We've to be careful this day. The case deserves to be pursued but that will be if the victim knows how to really go about it. I wish her luck.
3555  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a chance for Bitcoin Recovery? on: December 04, 2021, 11:35:40 PM
to topic creator

your relative got scammed twice
once by the scammer that promised guaranteed profits (obvious scam)
once by a company pretending to be a bitcoin 'chargeback' company
You're correct on this. It's a surprise how OP's relative allowed herself to be beaten twice. However, even OP left out what should be the most integral part of the whole ordeal – How much was scammed from her relative. I guess the amount involved would be what should decide whether to pursue the case further or just leave it there and move on with lesson learnt. There are several ways we learn. It could be from stuff happening directly to us or stuff happening to others and we pick our lessons from that.
3556  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why the dump? (Dec 03, 2021) on: December 04, 2021, 05:46:20 PM
~snipped~
If we were to take that chart as evidence then it might be a rough January as well and the correction might have only just started.
Truth be told, I witnessed the last post Bitcoin halving incident of 2017 and discovered how the baton of dominance was taken over by alts in January 2018 as Bitcoin got to its climax in December at that famed ATH of 19k+. I followed that table I shared here through October to November and it came true that Bitcoin was in green those two months. So, I'm inclined to believe that Bitcoin is likely (so much so) going to decline this December, and then into January to pave way for alts rally. I share in the sentiment expressed in that table.
3557  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why the dump? (Dec 03, 2021) on: December 04, 2021, 03:58:55 PM
There are so many things that could've occasioned that surprised drop yesterday. While some adduce that it could be Charlie Munger's bad mouthing of Bitcoin and praising the Chinese ban of it or the US and Chinese news concerning Bitcoin or even the below table that I have shared here. Perhaps the first two fundamentals culminated in what looks like it's giving rise to what is in the picture. According to that table, the prediction is that 2013 Bitcoin price chart is likely to repeat itself in 2021. Going by that table it simply means that the month of December is going to witness a dip for Bitcoin. We saw how the other months in 2021 played out the same way as in 2013. Let's see what happens this month. But then, we shouldn't hastily forget that fundamentals have a way of corresponding with technical analysis (TA). It drives price to meet with TA and that could be what we're experiencing right now.

3558  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Community is Lit on: December 04, 2021, 07:03:39 AM
Well I was shocked to see him speaking ill about cryptocurrencies but the response he got for his tweet was very surprising.
But of course, what do we expect from the Warren Buffet and Peter Schiff's generation in respect to a paradigm shift in economics? For crying out loud, the man will be 98 years old on January 1st. It's less than 30 days now. I ain't in anyway surprised he has that mindset. It's expected of old folks on Bitcoin, except those who listen to their grandchildren that have a different mindset.

The crypto community gave him solid replies which proves that the crypto community is growing stronger than ever.
Yes, he got more than he bargained for. A lot of people lashed out at him, calling his line of business ignoble. They literally ate him up. Here are some of the retorts as captured in tweets:

3559  Economy / Economics / Re: Why are some government officials like saying what they don't understand on: December 04, 2021, 05:02:42 AM
Now I can not believe some government officials in certain nation can be this so inaccurate (please pardon me to say that).
It doesn't even need to be officials from "certain" nation. I won't even be pissed if I heard such trash and misleading comment from my country's financial officials. Whether Africa, Asia or America, politicians are unbelievable. They often act the spin doctor just to deceive the undiscerning populace. The wise among the populace will discern the true situation. The only reason the American citizenry are different is because theirs is a complete democracy where citizens can boldly challenge their leaders through court and popularity contest. Africa and Asia aren't like that.
3560  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any easier way to get coins and tokens on their day one launch? on: December 03, 2021, 05:00:38 PM
Apart from getting the tokens/coins on the "Recently listed" tab of Coingecko, which is also a fast one to observe the projects, another way is to get on launchpads and get them through IDOs. However, the nag with launchpad is the heavy staking requirements to get on the tiers. If you're lucky to get on any of the launchpads run by the Bluezilla guys like BSCpad, Tronpad, Ethpad etc, you're sure to have picked a profitable one because all their projects are bangers. In a related development, steer clear of any ICO/IDO that you don't know or trust the team behind it.
