3562  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation and social mobility - there has to be a relation on: June 21, 2021, 04:10:06 PM
Social mobility is how much people can change their livelihood and the assets they own in the course of their own life. There are many factors that are well known to affect social mobility such as free or cheap yet high quality education, culture and politic systems (think of the middle ages, social mobility near zero), corruption and nepotism, rule of law,...

My thesis is that inflation can be a precursor of opportunity and that carries a chance for individuals to move socially. It also diminishes debt, which may be a factor as well.

...
In that case could we say that when a financial crisis happens in the world we see a huge shift in the lives of people all together? Not that it would be a shocking result because we all know that is the situation but I feel like that is removing one aspect of the economy, there is a finite amount of money, let's say 100 dollars is all the dollars available, then when a crisis happens everyone gets a worse life right? Where is that 100 bucks?

...

No, not everyone and not every life, simply new chances would appear for mobility but not everyone will grab these.
When a crisis happens, not everyone gets a worse life. Some people actually profit from it and where there is crisis, there is opportunity.
No, the premise of money being 100 dollars and staying that way is not true and anyway mobility is not about the total amount, is about the wealth being transferred.

3563  Economy / Economics / Re: Are you making money online? on: June 20, 2021, 11:01:16 PM
It is quite easy to make some mone onlune, there are many ways including crypto. In my view the real problem is about making an amount that makes sense. For example, you may make money but no more than 3 pounds an hour, which is not sustainable for most or you can make money but as side income, not as a mean of living. Much better if you can make the rules and ultimately a business proposition of some short, rather than sticking to someone else´s idea.
3564  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation and social mobility - there has to be a relation on: June 19, 2021, 02:18:00 PM
I don't see why there should be a relationship between inflation and social mobility. Or I don't know if I'm understanding you correctly.

My understanding is that social mobility occurs in open societies with open economies. There someone born into a poor family can end up a multimillionaire and conversely, an imbecile who squanders a multimillionaire inheritance can end up broke and homeless...

Yes that is the interpretation in simple terms.

3565  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation expected as high as 4% in Apr in USA on: June 18, 2021, 10:07:23 AM

The trend continued in May but it's not that catastrophic as some people think.
https://www.bls.gov/news.release/cpi.nr0.htm

Quote
The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.6 percent in May on a seasonally adjusted basis after rising 0.8 percent in April, the
U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased 5.0 percent before seasonal adjustment

A 5% increase each month would lave doubled all prices in a year and two months, that's happening neither in the US nor in Europe, and a lot of those increases are caused right now by exceeding demand and limited offer as the economy is still struggling to fill all the gaps in logistics and manufacturing the shut down left. We're paying the price for shutting economies, it's easy to stop something, far harder to start it again after you left it abandoned in a ditch for months.

I would not consider a 4% catastrophic in the current context. If you tell me a few years ago, this would be a signal of something going awfully wrong and a failure of the FED to meet the expectations, but after years of nearly zero inflation and the COVID, having a 4% may not be such a bad thing. As I have said in other posts, we do have to pay for the COVID crisis and that is going to be in the form of debt and the hidden tax that is really inflation.

I think that may people in debt will be happy about letting it go a little bit, just for a while so rates do not need to be raised, you know.
3566  Economy / Economics / Re: Aren't we the reason why BTC is becoming too much centralized? on: June 18, 2021, 10:02:20 AM
Centralisation is not an effect of how people trade or what people tweet about bitcoin, but rather and effect of how the PoW is implemented and how people quickly went into maximising the profit that can be made per unit of energy spent on the work. It is simply a question of efficacy, where little people can have a large mining facility with the tech required to be competitive in the PoW market. Some other cryptos such as Ethereum are also progressively more centralised, but this effect is much more limited due to not having ASICS devices other than GPUs, for now anyway.

If you speak about being held by less people, I think you are wrong. Every time I speak with people that used to know zero about the subject, I find out that they are now all over crypto.
3567  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is bitcoin (crypto) worth anything at all?? on: June 18, 2021, 09:59:12 AM
My quick answer to your question is: Do you have any crypto? and if so, would you give it to me for free?

My guess is that yes, and no, so you know perfectly well that it has a value to you, and that applies to many other people, so yes, it has a value because a group has agreed that this is a resource valuable to them and they are only willing to trade it for a value in other asset, thus the answer is served.
3568  Economy / Economics / Re: Is money the root of all evil as the poor to thinks? on: June 18, 2021, 09:51:26 AM
It is often said that the biggest difference between the rich and the poor has it origin from the mindset.

This is mostly said by the rich, they need to justify somehow that they are not rich by chance, by family or by the people they know so they say that they have special "supermindset" qualities that make them rich. Anyway, being honest, there is some truth on this. For example Elon, who I dislike particularly, could have settled with the money he made from the Paypal sale and he would have lived a nice life, he chose to do more.

What I am not certain is that being a business adrenaline junkie is a desirable trait, even if it makes you rich.
3569  Economy / Economics / Inflation and social mobility - there has to be a relation on: June 18, 2021, 09:37:00 AM
Inflation eats up any store of value in cash or cash equivalents. It is always in favour of the debtors and against the lenders, since paying any debt with weak money is much easier (if in doubt, just consider that you have a debt in Venezuelan Bolivars.

Thus, when inflation strikes the wealthy cannot just sit on the cash, they have to buy assets and that implies a certain risk. This risk may create opportunities to other to change their living. Is there any study about it?

Regarding bitcoin, mostly deflationary as of now and limited, does it hinder social mobility now that has reached a bit of a more mature stage?
3570  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it still okay to fake kyc in 2021? on: June 16, 2021, 10:05:02 AM
The more serious the project, the more difficult will be to fake your ID. Apart from that, you are pretty much on the borderline of counterfeiting or faking identity which is probably not worth the minimal money you are going to get from Alts, etc... Just think twice because what you do stays registered for a long time and it may find its way to you in the future... or even worse, quickly in the near future.

If you are not allowed, you are not, period. Either write to your representatives to change the law of look for projects that accept you.
3571  Local / Mercado y Economía / Re: CNMV (Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores) - Chiringuitos financieros on: June 15, 2021, 08:33:46 PM
...

3572  Other / Politics & Society / Re: #SuperStraight on: June 15, 2021, 12:04:24 PM
How many of those gender classifying shit heads voted for Trump exactly? I'll give you a number: Zero.

They are all coming from the left.

Trump opened lots of people's eyes. Even the non-Americans. Socialism, Liberalism, Communism these are the diseases people should get rid of forever or else they won't stop till they turn everybody into a LGBT...

Are you aware that that eye-opening supernew and supercool narrative was the Middle Age narrative in a twitter feed? Nobody is telling you how to live your life, so just stop telling others how to live theirs.

Putting a giant 10 minute gay porn scene in the middle of my favorite show is disgusting and that's exactly what they are doing, telling me to become a gay person. I do skip these scenes though doing it almost every episode becomes, tiring.

I am not telling other people how to live their lives, I want them to not tell me how to live mine.

Fuck netflix

Sure, and if they put as scene of a fight to death between two dogs they are telling you to become a dog a enter into a fight in a Mexican rancho. Just don´t be dumb, you simply do not like gays and feel that their "stuff" should not be shown in public, but you would probably be all right with the scene being "straight". Unless... you are actually having doubts, which is kind of a reason why many people actually hate gays or have issues watching gay scenes.

In general, I have seen an increase in the explict scenes of any gender combination. Gay characters are sometimes there without any particular reason other than showing off "openness of mind", which is the wrong reason to put a character on a plot and they have explicit scenes because the people demand that which is probably not such a good reason to provide these.

Watching a man fucking another man is disgusting. If you can watch this without blinking an eye then it means you like what you see and that means you are also gay.

No, I can actually watch that scene without blinking an eye because it does not make me feel anything more than watching a bird flying. At most, it can make me envious of their bodies if the guys are gym ripped and have good abs, which is anyway another gay cliché.
3573  Local / Español (Spanish) / Re: El Salvador: Bitcoin será moneda de curso legal on: June 15, 2021, 11:58:41 AM

Wow!  Shocked El hombre comenzó imponente!  Cool

3574  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does implementing a tax on a gambling platform really help a country? on: June 15, 2021, 11:30:46 AM
Of course it can, it will provide taxes that properly used can help the public services. Well, that is, if the income is properly used, which it may be the case for only a limited number of countries, so perhaps the answer is it depends:
- How much tax? Will it hinder business?
- How will it be used? Is there a government that will employ it for good?
- Is gambling something that morally should be accepted as a means of financing a country?
3575  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 15, 2021, 11:19:22 AM
It happens with the larger teams, they are not putting enough time and effort in their base and then they have to go to market and do operations that look at least dubious and high risk. In my view, Brazilians are notoriously variable and tend to loose motivation once they reach a certain level of wealth. It takes more than just being good at football to become a legend even if you get the chance to play in Barca. From the business perspective, these clubs have zero interest in being run efficiently.
3576  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ohio offering lottery prize worth one million for those that get the COVID shot on: June 15, 2021, 10:41:59 AM
And we have yet another winner, the third winner of the lottery was announced yesterday, this time the governor was with him when the news was revealed, things are progressing nicely at Ohio but after this ends there is no guarantee there are going to be more prizes after the five millions are finally distributed, personally I do not see this as a bad thing as by this point Ohio should be well underway to achieve herd immunity and the goal of the whole exercise should be achieved by now.

https://eu.cincinnati.com/story/news/politics/2021/06/09/winners-announced-second-week-ohios-covid-19-vaccine-lottery/7617858002/

It could be worth asking the guy or gal if the fact that there was a lottery made any difference in the decision of taking the jab or jabs. My take is that nobody will answer that honestly yes... either you believe that the vaccine is going to be useful for you and the risk benefit is worth it or you don´t. I think this is much more about getting a "noticeable" event that will appear in the media and gain those minutes of free air time from TV than a real encouragement anyway.
3577  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chinese Poker (Pusoy) - On what crypto-gambling site can I play this? on: June 15, 2021, 09:27:48 AM
I have heard that is a rather complex game, not like poker which in a way is about odds and relatively well known and studied. Such a complex game would require a substantial effort in implementation and has the problem that you would need to educate a robot to play on behalf of several users until you have enough of a userbase to launch it on standalone. I guess this is only worth if there is plenty of people willing to play the game. Is this very popular in China?
3578  Economy / Gambling discussion / How does on-line compete with the VIP experience on: June 15, 2021, 09:08:40 AM
We all know that off-line casinos tend to take very good care of their most valued clients, that is, those who spend large sums and are more or less loyal to an specific place. Freebies, guest experience managers at their service and any other amusement they fancy. On-line is much more difficult in that sense and sometimes I also wonder what can be done for a more personalised experience on these.
It may not be possible to reach the same level as the physical casinos, but what would you like to have on these that would make you feel better treated?
3579  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Prayer and gambling. on: June 15, 2021, 08:52:23 AM
Praying and gambling... interesting combination. Praying on this case is asking for a favour of the gods or god for your own personal purposes. I only know a few religions, but most of them are not that much concerned with the completion of the specific goals of the individual in terms of wealth - arguably, some tv priests do sell that to people - so praying would philosophically be quite offensive to most deities in modern times. I am not so sure it will be a bad thing is you adore Satan, The Flying Spaghetti Monster or you are Jedi.
3580  Economy / Economics / Inflation expected as high as 4% in Apr in USA on: June 15, 2021, 12:02:29 AM
This is the figure for April, yet still quite a figure to be dealt with for those who live on salaries, that tend to go after the inflation, and great news for those who have a mortgage or own money, since they are on the winning side for now - until interest rates catch up.

How is this going to affect bitcoin? If we make an analogy with commodities and particularly those used on the industrial processes, it will have a lift effect in price, sometimes much higher that what could normally be for other assets. I think is a good moment to stockpile bitcoin, copper... even tin, although is a bit expensive already.
