As always, thanks for the information.  Cool

Perhaps there should be more merit sources that have a far lesser number of merits each week/month
A practical limit is the amount of time theymos wants to invest to assign new Merit sources, and probably check how they're doing once in a while.
I think the main goal of the Merit system has been reached:
there's much less spam.

That's a fair call.

all you could come up with

To be fair to my dear friend ("/s" - for humourless pricks) peloso, it's probably more than you could write in Russian.

Were I to contribute an interview to a foreign language thread I would supply my answers in English and either request the interviewer translate them into said foreign language (after all, you have to trust an interviewer to give them the interview in the first place Q.E.D.) I would request the interviewer supply my with their translations which I would then run through Google Translate then approve their posting the answers, or, post the already translated answers myself.

I doubt it's broken English that's stopping peloso from answering more that they don't want to be tripped up later contradicting themselves. (or rather their alts)

OP hasn't been online in a week, so all you just hatched newbies looking for a quick scam are just going to have to cool your heels for a bit longer (doubtful the OP will be back for a while either - that's the usual M.O. of this type...).
3566  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [GUIDES] on Bitcointalk. Index thread (until there is a dedicated subforum?) on: September 15, 2020, 02:33:31 PM
Does "Hidden pages/ features on the forum" compiled by tranthidung count as a thread for inclusion in the list, or is it too stand alone?

I've always been baffled by the users who end up participating in such bounties.  Their post count shouldn't be counted at all (especially as this user is demonstrating, their posts lack merit).  Might sound harsh coming from someone participating in a Signature Campaign, but it's got to be said.

Oh yeh... then there's this:

3569  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin for salary on: September 15, 2020, 02:21:10 PM
A few people here are over-analising being paid in BitCoin.  Say your wages are $ 1,000 and you end up with in the hand $ 850 - that amount is translated into BTC (less a nominal transaction fee) - Regardless of the price rising or falling, you were paid $ 850 in bitcoin, so that's what you were paid... $ 850.
3570  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are there any truly safe bets in sports betting? on: September 15, 2020, 02:17:18 PM
I've just taken a quick look at the Rugby NRL stats. And I would say ML betting in this particular match may be considered relatively safe if you are with the Eels. After all, the game is between the 4th rank vs. the 15th rank (2nd to the last). And the last time the 2 teams met, the game ended with Parramatta ahead by 28 points.

Which brings me to conclude that even betting with Asian Handicap odds with the maximum + for the Broncos might not bring you closer enough to getting a win. And so I placed a little bet for the Eels (-8.5) with 1.43 odds, still low but probably an easy and safe win for me, especially since ML betting on this one is definitely not worth it when it comes to money.

Let's hope you have a win.  Personally, I think the BNE Broncos decided to throw the season because of their coach and the season long Covid Lockdown/Quarantine they have been in for many months now.

If they loose the rest of the season, then the "State of Origin" will be a white wash 2-1 or even 3-0 to NSW.
3571  Other / Meta / Re: The new rule (1 Merit for Jr. Member) is already reducing spam on: September 15, 2020, 02:11:34 PM
what do you mean by "concentration of merit sources"
yeah, i do also think that having some "merit sources" is not good thing, if they are not trust-less, and they could not be trust-less, they have to have their own bias in rewarding users, since you reward posts that you find helpful, and that is different from each point of view, what one could find helpful, other person may not, but it is better with merit system, than without it

I don't know the number, but my understanding is it's around one hundred users are merit sources.  (feel free to quote to me the true number).  Perhaps there should be more merit sources that have a far lesser number of merits each week/month at their disposal (and overly generous merit giving should be heavily discouraged).

3572  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Storing your Crypto in Exchanges is better than using Cold Wallets! on: September 15, 2020, 02:04:56 PM
Not all people can afford buying a hardware wallet, but there is another option, non-custodial mobile wallets. So you don't have to keep coins on exchanges.

You can set up a non custodial wallet (12 or 24 key word seed), send funds to that wallet, then delete the wallet (ensuring the seed words are safe) then re-access the mobile device wallet at a later date.  You could even set up a time locked transaction to send funds to that wallet address at a predetermined date into the future.

Hello, so I've been trading from a person on telegram named @visesento (he is the scammer). We both agreed on the deal, 1000$ movocash for 350$ btc. As we both were unsure about trustness, he offered to hire Monbux. We both wrote an email to him, asking if he can help us to trade safely. Provided details, offer and our telegram ID's. He (@MonbuxBitcointalk) created telegram group within like 10 minutes. Then, where my lack of knowledge occured - he sent me a PGP signed message, which I checked on keybase.io/verify :

Putting this message in it shows, that the message is signed by monbus (Huh?) . So this is where I fucked up, not sure how this works.
After this, I've sent BTC to his address ( transaction ID :https://www.blockchain.com/btc/tx/be618f8c287069dc2cec573070498e90455e3a66d78bcdac5a983a3ad2057882 )
Then, ofc, even after confirmations I didn't get my movocash from the seller. Started asking questions, no response. No response from guy, acting as escrow and no response from the seller.
Today he magicly replied, but only when other guy contacted him ( here is SS, how I managed to reach 'monbux' : https://prnt.sc/tdc7z9 , https://prnt.sc/tdc8mm , https://prnt.sc/tdc926 ) .
And later all our conversation (https://prnt.sc/tdcaw3 , https://prnt.sc/tdcbbr , https://prnt.sc/tdcbmq , https://prnt.sc/tdcbwr , https://prnt.sc/tdcc68 , https://prnt.sc/tdccfp ,  https://prnt.sc/tdccl7 , https://prnt.sc/tdccvc ,  https://prnt.sc/tdcd21 , https://prnt.sc/tdcda4 , https://prnt.sc/tdcdl4 , https://prnt.sc/tdcdu0 ,  https://prnt.sc/tdce0j , https://prnt.sc/tdcehk  ), coins weren't sent yet to other address,  but I am already sure, that I've been scammed.

so guys, watch out and don't make same mistake as I've did. Smiley

P.S. Monbux, can you explain how this PGP works?

This has been a trip down memory lane with @Excimer necro bumping threads for a couple of days (including this thread) - Given Bitcoin SV has come back to life & has the same agenda, don't you suppose it's conceivable that they are one and the same being?

...

I won't rehash other people's posts, but I will say there are threads out there why people can suggest posts should be merited.  There's even a thread started in the last couple of days that *might* give you merits if you are able to perform a simple task.

Your

appears to simply be to post a couple of times a week then suddenly rank up with a burst of posts and some merits under your belt.  I'd say you must have just realised you could rank up if only for those pesky merits.
3576  Other / Meta / Re: Self Moderated thread All Posts Deleted on: September 15, 2020, 12:12:27 AM

One of the many pitfalls of the forum - both Lauda(M) and marlboroza have done the same thing (although not to the Nth degree as shown here) in their self moderated threads.

Bitcoin SV has become active again (must have been a temp ban) and is settling some perceived old scores.

Although I never received an message here to say my post from February this year had been deleted, I did receive an email direct to the email recovery I use for this UID.  (it'll be interesting if it suddenly gets spammed)
3577  Other / Meta / Re: The new rule (1 Merit for Jr. Member) is already reducing spam on: September 15, 2020, 12:06:15 AM
I'd bet there's some spikes/ steady rise during the first few months Grin

It doesn't sound like it - according to LoyceV's post just after mine there hasn't been a noticeable spike upwards this year.  I've always said the merit system is a good thing, but the concentration of merit sources is not a good thing (which is a discussion for another thread)
3578  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are there any truly safe bets in sports betting? on: September 14, 2020, 11:56:19 PM
The Brisbane Broncos Rugby League team have now lost ten fixtures in a row, so it's almost guaranteed betting against them will pay off, so it might be a small return, but it's almost a sure thing.

Although I am not into rugby betting, I cannot imagine how low the odds would be in this case if you prefer to just bet on win or lose. I bet it is not worth risking. Sometimes, a team with nothing to lose, with every game they play just a mere game, would surprisingly upset an opposing team which is much stronger.

If the odds would be ≤1.10, that wouldn't be worth betting at all. Better be risking and bet on handicap with higher odds than stay safe with very low odds but still not 100% sure of winning.

I'll keep that in mind, there's only two or three more games in the regular season then the finals.  (which they won't be a part of because of their poor performance.

The Parramatta Vs Brisbane match this week is paying $ 1.13 / $ 6.00 according to the TAB site: https://www.tab.com.au/sports/betting/Rugby%20League/competitions/NRL

I can name at least three exchanges that have collapsed through theft of funds stored in hot wallets.  Even exchanges need cold wallets to store the bulk of user's funds that aren't shifted in and out each day.

Not sure how many exchanges payout interest, but it'd be worth considering earning interest on non POS coins if you plan to HODL them for a while.
