We look at common misconceptions with respect to how banks make loans and the implications this has on the ability of banks to expand the level of credit in the economy. We analyse the inherent properties of money which ensure that this is the case. We then consider why Bitcoin might have some unique combinations of characteristics, compared to traditional forms of money, namely the ability to transact electronically and avoid a third party financial intermediary, thereby avoiding the need for bank deposits, which fuel the credit cycle. What’s the best way to short the UK stock market in the event of a hard Brexit?
Perhaps, shorting the pound would be a better route/higher leverage. I guess, you can short EWU in the states, but it was down 19% in 2018, so it could bounce here. Can you short fiat currencies and not just ETFs? I didn't know you could short currency alone, if so that could useful for failing countries, I mean who wouldn't short the bolivar? I think you would struggle to get anyone to take the long side of the trade |
