3561  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria Local Board, All board discussion welcomed. {No Official Language} on: August 26, 2021, 05:11:05 PM
The same person that says most cryptocurrency transaction are illegitimate, he personally dislike decentralized cryptocurrencies. When most criminal activities in Nigeria are mostly in fiat, but he has nothing to say about naira, this is self-centeredness in my opinion.
This isn't new to us all, all of these is just a calculated effort from the Nigerian government to hamper the growth of cryptocurrencies in Nigeria, irrespective of if they are knowledgeable about it or not, I'm pretty sure we're all aware how corrupt and incompetent most of our government officials are, and they are more often than not, loyal, not to the citizens, but to one 'god-father' or the other who made it possible for them to get to that position. That is why it seems there is as yet no consensus from the government as to what the state of crypto in Nigeria is, cause most of them hardly even understand what it is, how it operates, it's pros and cons, but are just basically following the bandwagon to attack it.
That brought up the comment that you were neither wrong nor right, but could be misleading people. For people that do not know what exactly who officially banned cryptocurrencies in Nigeria, reading from your post can mislead the person to think the president of Nigeria banned cryptocurrencies, but cryptocurrencies are officially banned by the CBN governor irrespective of the political aspect.
That one no matter at all, me and you know say CBN oga no fit take decision on im own like that, the president was definitely aware of the whole situation, and if you ask me, he has more role to play than anyone else in this case, I know officially it's the CBN that issued the statement, but oga president hand full for the matter.
3562  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto is not limited till buying Bitcoins, it is beyond this. on: August 26, 2021, 04:31:57 PM
We have:
+ NFTs (we know about one user who sold an NFT for $60k that he won for free - a life changing experience)

+ DeFi tokens (liquidity pools, staking, farming are all giving huge returns for small investors)

+ P2E (Play 2 Earn is another way to make money by playing games online and getting tokens or NFTs as rewards, some games have different types of rewards)
The thing about pump and dump/lottery coins and projects is that a few of it's investors would be lucky and prolly make a huge ROI when the coin pumps, I'm afraid it's the lucky few you have outlined here and then generally portrayed this projects as a success, when actually they are not. I know users who want to "get rich quick" tend to make the choice of going for projects like this, but if you want to invest in a project that is sustainable for the long period and would not just dump, making you lose your funds, then just invest in Bitcoin. Investing in pump and dump coins is very risky and it leaves you uncertain, one can categorically state that Bitcoin has a future because of it's real use case, but many of this other projects would not be here in a few years or even months, thus Bitcoin is more or less a worthy investment for the future.
3563  Economy / Economics / Re: The reason to hodl bitcoin on: August 26, 2021, 04:09:01 PM
I think that investing in crypto is one of the best decisions that a person could make with their money. The return will be massive.
It could be a good decision, but for some it turned out to be a pretty bad choice, it all depends on how and why you invest, if you put all your money in crypto, by extension investing far more than you can afford to lose, then it could prolly be a bad decision for you in the end, also if you invest without acquiring sufficient knowledge of the network, it could as well be a bad decision.

Having said that, another thing worthy of being understood is that Bitcoin is not a get rich quick scheme, thus one should not invest and immediately start expecting returns, except if you invest in pump and dump coins and carry the risk of either profiting out of luck, or losing your funds outrightly, but if you invest in Bitcoin, you must be patient and know that it is a long term project, with returns prolly coming at a later time as well.
3564  Economy / Economics / Re: The reason to hodl bitcoin on: August 25, 2021, 10:22:41 PM
I hodl Bitcoin cause it gives me the freedom to be my own bank, tbh, I love the responsibility of handling my funds all by myself, this is something that is not possible with centralized fiat currencies, but with Bitcoin, the individual is free to spend or use their coins in the way they want, that is a very good reason to hold Bitcoin. Having said that, due to the increase in Inflation in most countries and the fast rate at which fiat currencies are losing their value, Bitcoin is a good hedge to it, and another reason why many people hodl Bitcoin. The thing is, since the network is a 'free' one, quite a lot of people will have diverse reasons to invest in the currency, which is good, as long as they do not engage in criminal activities
3565  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 25, 2021, 05:48:04 PM
Well that is what it looks like now but it is also not that clear. Allegri during the weekend ahead of their clash with Udinese confirmed that he would stay but who knows. In Fabrizio Romano's podcast he told the viewers that Juventus if willing to let Ronaldo go then would expect a bid around 25m Euro. Still lets see where it goes. It's an interesting potential move to follow.
Just envisaging Ronaldo playing for Manchester City is a really interesting prospect, he would be a big plus to this City side and being a multiple time UCL champion, he could be the man to finally push them to get the CL that they so desperately want, and that has eluded them till now, Ronaldo is very strong, thus despite his age, the physicality of the EPL would not be a challenge to him.

But having said that, do you really think Ronaldo would be able to bring himself to move to City, I mean, he is a United legend and Manchester United fans absolutely love him, it would destroy the relationship he has with the red half of Manchester, and then again, I don't think he is the kind of player that Pep would like to have, but despite all this, football presents us with different drama everyday, so let's watch and see if Ronaldo does move to City.
3566  Other / Meta / Re: No Incoming my messages on: August 23, 2021, 08:20:07 AM
I have no problem with the post being deleted by the moderator because I need to study, research, and read again, but give me a message so I can learn to make good posts, in fact on 22/8/2021 there were two posts that were deleted and I didn't get any notification on "my massages" sorry if it's presumptuous.
That is exactly what the users above have tried to explain to you on the situations you'll either get a notification or not, that being said, tbh, you really don't neednotifications of your deleted posts to make good posts, what you need to do is improve your crypto knowledge generally, use the search button to read wide on your topics of interest and when you prolly do not have anything to contribute on an ongoing subject, resist the urge to post and just read the replies of other users, that will help you knowledge-wise.

Having said that, if most of the threads you comment on gets thrashed and that's prolly why you don't get notifications about your deleted posts, be a little bit selective on posts you comment on, if you come across a 'shit thread', with zero quality, instead of commenting and joining in the discussion that's somewhat meaningless, report the thread to the moderators.
3567  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think financial stability is mandatory to be a gainer in Bitcoin invest? on: August 23, 2021, 06:14:12 AM
If you're not financially stable in the first place, you'd not be able to invest/buy Bitcoin, except of course if you have a skill or you're rendering a service and being paid in Bitcoin, but having that extra money in real life goes a long way to determine how long and how well you'd be able to invest in the Bitcoin network. For example, if your salary in real life is unable to cover for your daily expenses, there is no way you'll be able to delimit a fraction of it to invest in Bitcoin, meaning you would either invest very, very little, or nothing at all.

I mean, financial stability is essential in any investment, you cannot invest everything you have, thus you need to have at least enough to invest and still have much more to pay fees, bills, travel etc. The only way one could prolly invest or gain in the network without being financially okay is by taking risks through requesting for loans, borrowing money or investing far more than they can afford to lose, but that is very wrong and can cause problems for the individual, thus if we're to eliminate this wrong aspect as a means to invest, then you need to have a fair amount of financial stability or a skill/offer a service (and prolly be paid in Bitcoin) to make good ROI from the network.
3568  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: This bull makes all alts will make new all time highs on: August 23, 2021, 05:55:46 AM
Btc crossed over 50k. So we are confident that btc will break new all time high before year ends. Maybe 100000 usd.
So all the alts will make new all time high.
Yes Bitcoin is above 50k atm, and another bull run could prolly start from now down to the end of the year and the beginning of 2022, which could see Bitcoin appreciate to a really high price, but having said that, I don't really know about alts, personally I would not advice one to hold Altcoins cause I think most of them are short term projects, thus, cause BTC is prolly doing well doesn't means your alts will, if they pump, I feel it's wise you sell them, cause they could dump sooner rather than later. If the alt in you wallet is ethereum, then it makes sense if you're talking about hodling, but if it's other altcoins, I think the best strategy is to take ROI when as soon as you get them cause they aren't really long term projects.
3569  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: August 22, 2021, 04:45:45 PM
Inter had a great start by destroying Genoa 4-0. Hakan Calhanoglu got 1 goal and 1 assist. And the supporters must be really happy about his performance. Edin Dzeko also scored and started nicely. It is early to say if he will have a good season. But I'm sure of one thing that he won't be as good as Lukaku.
I predicted a hard season for Inter generally, after losing their manager and a couple of their key players of which Lukaku is included, but it was a very impressive display from them in this game, I know it is still early days in the league, but to put up that sort of performance gives the fans a bit of hope this season, they are the defending champions and I know it's going to be very difficult for them to retain the title, but even if they are going to relinquish it, they should not go down without a fight and at least finish in one of the champions league spots.
3570  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: top holders on: August 22, 2021, 03:25:21 PM
understood however when looking at coin like Covalent, the top 100 own 99%. does this matter ?? I thought maybe supply should be more spread
If that be the case, then it's not a good Investment option as there is way too much monopoly in that project, and then again coins like this are more or less shitcoins, you really should have nothing to do with such projects, these holders can destroy the project in a single day by selling every of the coin they have, making the project a short term/unsuccessful one. You should be interested in long term projects like Bitcoin and maybe ethereum, coins that absolutely nobody has control over and even the government cannot destroy it, not coins that the actions of a 'few' can signal the end of it.
3571  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: August 22, 2021, 01:17:39 PM
But looking at their previous head to head encounters neither side managed to keep the clean sheet in seven of their 8 H2H at Emirates Stadium. So we more likely to get both teams scoring.
Of course, the possibility of both teams scoring is always pretty high when two big teams come up against each other, I don't know if I can still refer to Arsenal as a big team, but definitely they still have quality players and should score at least a goal in this game, likewise Chelsea, that's why the odds for both teams to score is having pretty low in this sort of game.
Lukaku prolly gets some game time today and I think he will score.
I don't know if he'll score, but I am pretty sure Thomas Tuchel will give him some minutes in this game so he can slowly get acquainted with the team again, Chelsea would need him so much all through this season, so it's best he starts to play as soon as possible.
3572  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Share your costly lesson about cryptocurrency.. on: August 21, 2021, 06:09:27 PM
My costly mistake was in my burgeoning/beginning years as a crypto user, I erroneously believed bitcoin was a get rich quick thing and thus it led me to invest far more than I could afford to lose, or rather, practically almost all of my funds, I actually did invest with money meant for solving RL issues, believing the price of btc was going to appreciate so much in few weeks, while I make large ROI. Sadly that was not to be the case, as the price of Bitcoin plummeted at that very point in time.

Having said it, I was somewhat stranded since I had invested more than I could afford to lose and even money meant to handle matters in real life relating to my schooling, it was a pretty difficult time for me then, as I had to source other means of raising them money needed since I couldn't sell as I was already in a loss. Thus the costly lesson here for newbies is to "invest only what you can afford to lose" and that you should not invest with money that you actually need to solve one problem or the other in RL.
3573  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: August 21, 2021, 05:27:16 PM
Draw between Leeds and Everton. Leeds looked very threatening in the final third of that second half. I thought they were going to grab the winner with Raphina playing some of the best football I have seen him play. Everton survive in the end though thanks to their goalkeeper.
I saw this game, and what a match it was, the two teams actually went for the win hammer and tongs and I think they both deserved a share of the spoils, it was a frosty match and at one point I actually felt one team would prolly finish the game a man less, I feel Leeds did deserve the win as they played slightly better, but Everton had more clear cut chances against the run of play, but nonetheless, both teams should be happy with one point apiece as they prepare for their next game.

City did win by a large margin, but I feel there is still need for improvement from them, Norwich was never going to pose any problems, and it would prolly have been a different game if they played against a big team today, Grealish is yet to start creating/making things happen for City, he got his first goal today, but overall I wasn't too impressed with his performance, this is just the second match of the season though and City still remain my favorite for the title.
3574  Economy / Economics / Re: Nothing about communism: The real cause of hyperinflation in Venezuela on: August 21, 2021, 05:01:29 PM
It is hard to stop such a downward spiral with a falling economy and rising inflation. Relying on one export good like oil is not enough to sustain a whole country. Another big factor in Venezuela is corruption, it prevents that necessary funds are actually used for investment into education and infrastructure within the country.
The current situation in Venezuela makes me think about my own country, which is one of the largest oil producing/exporting states and yet one very corrupt country in the world, concentrating solely on oil may be counterproductive, but it's not really too bad, what's worse is when the revenue being generated from it isn't put into good use, it then becomes a situation were the country is using up it's only valuable resource, but Instead of the proceeds to be used for the development of the country, it is going straight into the pockets of a few 'privileged' individuals.

It's a pretty difficult situation Venezuela finds themselves presently, and tbh, I do hope things in my own country do not get as bad as that, corruption is really the bane of many countries and their economies, if people in power can more often than not, put the needs of their people first, then many countries would prolly not be struggling economically today.
3575  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 20, 2021, 10:08:50 PM
What I believe should happen is that Kane should be sold to a team that has a chance to win the UCL, doesn't matter if it is City or Madrid or PSG or whoever, but he should not stay in Spurs for sure.
I think Kane deserves that opportunity as well, he is brilliant, scores many goals and creates quite a lot of goals (assists), but all this input should be leading the team he is playing for to trophies and finals of major tournaments, but I'm afraid Spurs is not just the team to compete for trophies, they do not do too badly, but they are not in the level of the big teams and honestly Kane is a big team player.

Kane leaving Spurs or not seems to be the biggest news of this transfer window, Spurs need to hurry up and take a decision so they can concentrate on their season, I believe if City fails to land Kane, they'll be able to cope without a main striker till January, and then they can go for an alternative.
3576  Other / Archival / Re: Global Crypto Adoption Has Grown By 880% on: August 20, 2021, 08:40:18 PM
What excites me is that the increase in p2p trade. That's what is the need of the hour! Centralized exchanges can be closed anytime by the government but p2p trades are something, they might not be able to control.
I believe that increase will continue as long as people are still ready to use and trade crypto, I say so cause of all the regulations and bans governments have been issuing of late, the Nigerian government's ban on banks accepting crypto transactions from exchanges is a very good example, they actually thought it would dissuade people from using crypto, but it was somewhat counterproductive as the interest in crypto amongst Nigerians heightened. Nigerians now comfortably trade crypto via p2p, increasing p2p trades; and that is the case in many countries with similar bans or hostilities, people would just avoid centralized exchanges/services and transact using p2p.

If there is no improvement in global economics sooner rather than later and inflation still continues to plague diverse countries, then global crypto adoption may come at a time sooner than we actually expected it to.
3577  Economy / Economics / Re: Enjoy comunism (III) rats eating dead people and people eating rats in NK on: August 20, 2021, 06:48:30 PM
I sympathize with the citizens of North Korea and wish them well, but what can or should the world do about their woes?  They need to rise up and fight, IMO, if they're tired of being under the thumb of a dictatorship.
I second that, and what I believe is there is no dictatorial regime that began in a day, it is a gradual process when power hungry and brutal people take power, they slowly make things dictatorial, thus the people of North Korea should not have allowed things to get this bad, if it actually is as bad as the person in that interview claims; thus the people of North Korea should have opposed this sort of totalitarianism from the beginning, it seems it has gotten out of hand at the moment, which makes it hard to repress.

Having said that, what the outside world can do is just to to create awareness on what is happening, but I think if there is to actually be any change, then there must be a revolution, and it must stem from within and nowhere else.
3578  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wells Fargo asks US stock exchange to launch Bitcoin fund on: August 20, 2021, 06:11:11 PM
which is absolutely Wrong because I do think the reason cryptocurrencies are very different from traditional currencies is the fact that the holder and the user, they don't have to depend on anyone or anything (internet connection ofc )
I second that, but many people in the network are unserious about taking the responsibility of being their own bank, thus they either depend on a third party service to trade/invest for them, or even to store their coins, it's somewhat ridiculous, considering the notion that Bitcoin is a network that to a large extent works to eliminate a third party, but then people would always fail to take responsibility of their funds, thus centralized/third-party services like this would continue to thrive in the network.
for this big guys to start thinking about it means btc is on the right part,
I don't think so exactly, I feel it rather means they are coming to the realization of the benefits of being in the Bitcoin network, as for Bitcoin, it has always been what it is, a decentralized and free network, and a great source of investment, if big/rich people are finding that out now, then it's on them, the network has always been "on the right part".
3579  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: With all your assets, Investing in Bitcoin is really a madness or beneficial ? on: August 20, 2021, 05:48:08 PM
What you people say about this topic ?
Should we invest just like them or should start with a less amount ?
First and foremost, you should not invest like someone else, you should take/make your own decisions in the crypto network via carrying out your own research, that's the only way you can invest right, if you invest only cause someone did and make ROI, you are most likely to lose your funds. Having said that, you really should not be selling properties or taking loans to invest in Bitcoin, it could pay of, but it's way too risky and irrational, you should only invest with your money, and with an amount of your money you wouldn't mind losing, Bitcoin is not a get rich quick asset, and it's ROI is usually in the long run, and it's always good to have that at the back of your mind as you invest.
3580  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: August 20, 2021, 12:57:48 PM
City are interested in Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic and are ready to bid around 80m whom they see as an alternate transfer target for Harry Kane.
I know I am not all that too interested in the Italian league, and that's prolly why I have not heard of this player before, but I really must say that the rate at which players cost right now is alarming, even players that aren't established and have neither won a trophy are priced extremely high. Imagine Spurs requesting £150 million for Harry Kane and then City bidding 80 million for a striker that I can say is relatively unknown, in the coming years, things are only going to get worse and it's the smaller teams that would bear the brunt of it all, the bigger teams will get stronger, taking away precocious talents from the lower teams, while the weaker teams gets weaker.
