They are not giving any money away.

BitcoinMax was just one of those ponzi-systems were people deposited money to earn interest.
Now it's closed and people can't get their deposited money back, so they try to find someone stupid enough to buy their accounts.
If you are one of those stupid enough, you can buy an "account worth 60BTC" for only 25BTC,
but you'd probably just lose those 25BTC and never get the 60BTC.

Von OpenCL seh ich da nichts.

Ich könnte mir schon vorstellen, das neuere/neueste Catalysts von XP nichmehr unterstützt werden,
aber dann nimmste halt einfach ne ältere Version.

Bei schneller Durchsicht der Previous Drivers and Software stellt sich raus, das bis einschließlich 12.4 der OpenCL Driver mitgeliefert wird, was danach damit passiert ist, kann ich Dir allerdings auchnicht sagen.

Also runter mit 12.8, rauf mit 12.4 und nochmal probieren.

Das ist ein bisschen ungenau, welche Treiber sind denn das?

Ich weiß ehrlichgesagt nich genau, wie das bei den aktuellen Treibern aussieht, aber als meine GPUs auf Windows liefen gabs jeweils 2 Catalyst Versionen, eine mit und eine ohne OpenCL.
Schau mal auf den AMD Seiten nach, ob Deine Version tatsächlich OpenCL mitbringt, auf Aussagen in diversen Foren würde ich mich da nicht verlassen.

Kommt auf den Strompreis und die eingesetzte Hardware an.

Meine GPUs zahlen seit heute (difficulty 2694048) ~7.15€ pro BTC und sind damit hart an der Grenze,
die FPGAs hingegen zahlen nur ~0.7€ pro BTC, sind also sehr, sehr, sehr viel billiger, als der Kauf in der Wechselstube.

Probably true that it is the major motivation for mining now, doesnt change the fact that it isn't the major purpose of mining.

What is enough?

Today fees, compared to the 50BTC per block, are like nothing, it doesnt really make a difference for the miner.
He gets 50BTC without fees and maybe 50.1BTC if there's lots of fees, that's 0.2% (woot!).
At the end of the year, as soon as the block reward halves for the first time, that 0.2% in our example would already double to 0.4%.
Someday, when most bitcoins are distributed, fees alone will be higher than the block reward itself.

However, noone can tell now what the value of those fees will be that day, or how profitable mining will be,
mining will still secure the network and make it actually work though, so everyone owning some bitcoins should have an incentive there to keep it that way, profitable or not (people are even folding@home, how profitable is that?).

Once ALL coins are distributed, there is no "more" left to generate.

Bitcoin-mining is NOT about "generating BTC" anyway, that is just a nice side-effect of its main purpose, which is processing transactions.
If there is no mining, there is no more transactions, without mining bitcoin is dead.

So there will always and forever be the need for mining, even if there is no more BTC left to generate.


Why should it be as profitable as it is now?
It was more profitable before and it was less profitable before too.
Of course it's hard to imagine what it might be like in a few years, it's always hard to predict the future.

Eigentlich sollten die alle stabil laufen,
ich hatte vor dem Umstieg auf BAMT gewöhnliches Ubuntu am Start, allerdings derzeit noch mit dem phoenix-miner,
cgminer sollte da aber auch keinen großen Unterschied machen, was die Stabilität angeht.

When you've setup the 5970, the 5870 should also just run fine with it, i had a 5970 + 5850 running fine side by side on WinXP.
You just need either a dummy-plug, or a monitor connected to both cards (at least on bootup).

I do remember that i also had some problems at first with only one of the 5970-cores  running on Windows, not sure what i did to solve that though, it's been a while ago and all my GPUs are now on BAMT.
Maybe someone else actually using Windows for mining can help you with that.

Sure, Win7 will work too,
it's way more complicated to set up though, you'll need to get some dummy-plugs, drivers, sdk and of course mining-software all by yourself.
BAMT on the other hand is ready to use out of the box, plug and play (and doesn't need a HDD).

No need to be a Linux-Guru,
just write the image to an USB-Key, plug it into your mining-rig, configure bamt and your pool(s) on the first startup and that's about it, there's not much else todo.

All info can be found on the BAMT-website, step-by-step setup on the download-page, examples of the bamt.conf and pools.conf on the wiki,
pretty much self-explanatory.

Yes, you can use those cards in the same system.

Which OS to recommend depends on what else you want todo,
if it's a dedicated mining-system, i'd recommend BAMT, quick and easy install, fire and forget.

Das Holz zu den fossilen Brennstoffen gehört, war mir allerdings neu, was vermutlich daran liegt, dass ich nicht studiert hab.
Ein Holz-Generator (also einer der Holz-Gas verbrennt) wär aber wenigstens mal ungewöhnlich.

hab auch ne Weile die verschiedenen free-coin-seiten ausprobiert, aber mehr zum testen, als für die paar tausendstel Coins, die sie versprechen.

Viele dieser Seiten zahlen schlicht nichts, sei es, weil sie "Abzocker" sind und nur Werbung zeigen wollen, weil sie (natürlich rein zufällig) grad keine Coins mehr haben, oder weil sie einfach schlecht programmiert sind.

Meine Erfahrungen mit den auf Skude.se gelisteten Seiten sagen, wenns hochkommt zahlt 1/3 der Seiten regelmäßig aus, bei allen anderen braucht man viel Glück, um überhaupt was zu bekommen.

Hinzu kommt, das es sich einfach nicht lohnt, die investierte Zeit kann man sinnvoller verbringen.
Die meisten Seiten zahlen 0.0001BTC, selbst wenn wir von durchschnittlich 0.0002BTC ausgehen, sind das irrwitzige ~0.16Cent,
da wir großzügig sind, gehen wir nochmal davon aus, das mindestens die Hälfte aller Seiten auch tatsächlich auszahlt,
dann müssen wir immernoch über 10 Seiten besuchen, um 1Cent (!) zu erhalten.

Für Neueinsteiger, die ein paar erste Satoshis zum rumprobieren brauchen, vielleicht ganz ok, "verdienen" kann man damit nix. 

In der Tat kann man die gleichen Fragen auch zu Bitcoin stellen:

1. Ist das überhaupt Legal? Braucht man doch nur für Unfug und SilkRoad.
2. Wieso macht Ihr so nen Müll? Gibt schon genug Abzocker und Ihr versorgt sie noch mit anonymen Transaktionswegen, damit wir das Geld nicht zurückverfolgen können!!1!1

Wessen Intelligenz hier anzuzweifeln ist, überlass ich jedem einzelnen.

Der Vollständigkeit halber hier noch die Antworten:
