And 13 tons of gold is worth a shot, huh?

Yes, it does. US got the whole Ukrainian gold reserve transported out of Ukraine after the coup government took the power. I start to think that was the main reason for the whole Maidan circus, just like murder of Gaddafi in Lybia. All done in the name of gold.

Send some permanent residents to moon. That will be the news!

Financials will be a problem, even if technology isn't one. I am sure that any such program will be prohibitively expensive, that neither of the two sides (US and Russia) can think about it right now.

What about Russia + China?

@TheButterZone: Fully agree with you. Cleaning up should be number 1 priority, not colonisation. ISS has to dodge debris quite often as it is now.

Yes!
Acting prime minister Yacenjuk urged the Ukrainian Parliament to introduce legal correction to make regional referendums legally possible.

I don't trust that liar Yatsenyuk. Why has he sent all those Armored Personnel Carriers and Main Battle Tanks to kill people in Donetsk? May be people in Kiev are stupid enough to trust him.

Many of the people commenting to the news don't trust him either. But it might just be that his bluff was called, and his masters advised him to de-escalate gracefully.

3567  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian roadmap to Solar System colonisation. Moon is the first step. on: April 11, 2014, 09:41:04 AM
Yes, in the 60-s there was a Soviet Moon base/landing program. Thus the Moon rovers that the Soviet Union sent over there.
Then Americans announced their Moon program, and Soviet had to trump it, so more resources were diverted to the Mars program. Add to that mix internal political rope tugging between the constructor bureau and the government and then end result was neither Moon nor Mars.
3568  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian roadmap to Solar System colonisation. Moon is the first step. on: April 11, 2014, 09:22:10 AM
You can't build a road to the moon.
Crazy ruskies.

The current technology doesn't permit that. But that doesn't mean that in the future that might be impossible. Russian space technology, as of now is much more advanced than the American one.

Actually, current technology does permit building of a small (ISS-sized) manned base on the Moon. All the building blocks exist already and have been extensively tested both on Earth and in space flights.

3570  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Crimea on: April 11, 2014, 09:11:13 AM
The Parliament of Crimea just ratified the new Constitution of the Federal Republic

http://www.forbes.ru/news/254363-parlament-kryma-prinyal-novuyu-konstitutsiyu-respubliki

The federal government of the Russian Federation does not need to ratify it, so the new constitution comes into effect after its publication in the parliamentarian newspaper on the 12th of April.
3571  Other / Politics & Society / Russian roadmap to Solar System colonisation. Moon is the first step. on: April 11, 2014, 08:51:24 AM
Vice-president of the Russian government listed strategic objectives of Russia in space. They are:
 - Expansion of Russian presence in the low-orbit space.
 - Exploration and subsequent colonisation of the Moon and near-Moon space.
 - Preparation for colonisation of Mars and other objects of the Solar System, using Moon as the starting pad.

http://lenta.ru/news/2014/04/11/moon/

Last year, China announced that it plans to established a manned colony on the Moon as well. I wonder if the two nations would collaborate in this endeavour.

While Obama and Merkel discuss further sanctions against Russian Federation (it's a game the two like to play in their sandbox, you know. Obama is so out of touch, talking about "new escalation from Moscow", when it's NATO amassing the military):
http://www.interfax.ru/world/370945

Russia's Ministry of Finance said that it is open to give Ukraine help together with EU and IMF to stabilise the political situation in Ukraine:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/russian/rolling_news/2014/04/140411_rn_russia_ukraine_support.shtml

Now, who's the bully here?

Oh, and Crimea and the City of Sevastopol are now listed in the constitution of the Russian Federation as federal subjects:
http://rbcdaily.ru/society/562949991135022

And breaking news:
One of the Presidential candidates, Oleg Carev, went missing in Odessa, abduction suspected:
http://lenta.ru/news/2014/04/11/kidnaping/
Special ops drove him in unknown direction. Before that he arrived in Odessa to participate in the Victory March commemorating 70 years of liberation of the city from Nazi troops. Right Sector Nazis Nazis blocked him in the hotel demanding he be extradited for lynching. After the march was finished some pro-Russian activists started pulling to the hotel, so a confrontation was brewing. At this point special ops decided to evacuate Carev and he was driven away. His staff cannot come in contact with him since then. His mobile phone is silent.

He is one of the candidates, who previously visited the South-Eastern region of Donetsk and actually managed to enter a reasonable dialogue with the protesters there, so he might actually draw some support from that region during the elections.
3573  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Catalonia independence vote rejected on: April 11, 2014, 07:53:54 AM
I've never understood why so many people are nationalists or "regionalists".

For Catalonia (or Venice) it's a question of who is feeding whom. When your taxes stand for the most part of the country's welfare, yet you yourself see little of that welfare, you'd want to get out to actually enjoy the fruits of you hard work. Add to that suppression of your language/history/national identity and you definitely want to get out

The worse was the people in Crimea saying they wanted to be Russians. I wish everyone to become stateless.

You can't blame Russians who just happened to be given as a present to Ukraine, and lately having been more and more robbed of their identity, while their region didn't see any investments to want to go back to their country of birth, taking their land with them. See my point above.
3574  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine... Revolution. on: April 11, 2014, 07:37:13 AM
Just out of interest, who's side are you guys on (On the russian/ukranian end)

I am on the Russian/Ukrainian side, the side of the Slavic people living in both countries. They should be able to decide how they live without the outside interference, and a direct referendum is the best option for that in this messed up situation.

"And I'll now do my part and go back to not covering it."
The guy is brilliant. Thanks for a laugh. Smiley

People blocks roads in searching of neo nazi groups.

Judging from a comment by a local witness, unfounded, hysterics over rumours.

The promises of Nationalists:
https://www.facebook.com/borys.filatov/posts/603173516431216

Those comments were about Crimea, that Maidan coup should agree to all demands from "Crimea's bitches" and give them all promises, an hang them all later

И последнее. Никаких десантов с Майдана. Никаких экстремистских заявлений. Нужно давать мразям любые обещания, гарантии и идти на любые уступки.
...А вешать...
Вешать их надо потом.

I hope that resistance in Lugansk, Donetsk and Harkov do not believe any promises given by the coup-government appointed reps, as it looks like such promises are hollow.

Please explain. I think you have no reason to be ashamed of your country. America is great. But it does not belong to americans any longer...

UPDATE - April 9th, 2014:

I am in contact with Mr. Dorian Nakamoto and I will be delivering control of the funds to him, in person, within the next 3 weeks. I will post an update once this is done, as verification.

Man, for a VIP member, you sure seem sour and jaded.  Did the price crash get to you?

Yes, I cannot stop to think how the people which bought BTC "savings" at 1200 USD are feeling right know... Poor people.

 Embarrassed

I am also sad for those people in the same way I was sad for those who bough at 260 in April last year, managed to hodl, and sold at 1000... Wink

This is how $383 support is tested? on no volume? Bulls are doomed. They're not even putting up a fight yet. Turn off your computer and come back in a week. Your coins will still be there. They just won't be worth as much.

Good advice. Just finished moving over to cold storage to prevent myself from doing anything rash and stupid.
