It said that Satoshi lost the first forum which he was using a to post about bitcoin development.  A SourceForge forum.  That Sirius (could it be this Cyrus) provided hosting for the present day Bitcointalk we know.
Cyrus and sirius are different person.
Thank you for proving me link to sirius. I checked the profile and I discovered that he did not get much merits and trusts like Theymos and Satoshi. It was only Theymos that trusted him as "co-creator of bitcointalk"
Merit wasn't implemented yet on the time when he was still active even trust feedbacks wasnt fully used on that time compared to now for DT members.

Theymos trusting him as co admin is enough for all members here to trust him as well.

If Sirius decides to take his domain as the owner, can he or he can no longer temper with it, just as Satoshi can no longer temper with bitcoin?
Theymos is the person who have full control for bitcointalk domain and its hosting account, cobra confirms it a while ago.

3583  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What happens to your network if bitcointalk go offline on: January 24, 2022, 01:50:50 AM
Since Satoshi identity has remained unknown and inactive on this forum since the day 1 of the creation of the forum unless the activities of administrators such as Theymos
Idk if I read it right, but satoshi wasn't inactive since the day one of forum creation, he was pretty active not until the wikileaks take bitcoin and he just disappeared days after.

Lots of business will be affected, considering that most gambling accepting crypto website gathered here to get users, crypto related mixers too and many more crypto-related services. If ever that happens there's r/bitcoin and r/cryptocurrency, just check it, many popular crypto personalities use reddit or twitter platform to discuss instead here.
3584  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which is the best to use now? on: January 23, 2022, 03:53:59 PM
How can we ignore these kind of hijacking/malware application as it is now a threat to those who mostly uses Android phones?
Be knowledgeable.

In any mobile phone digital distribution service whether app store or play store, it's easy to recognize a fake to the original. Check reviews, number of downloads, the developers, check the link of the app, using the "share" feature in the upper right, mostly the URL is simply written with its website "play.google.com/.../?id=io.metamask", fake ones have different characters on it. Also check the app website if it redirects on the same play store page.

Use adblockers either on mobile browsers and desktop too, firefox has lots of security features, mobile or desktop, just enable it and use "strict".
3585  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Another episode of "Not your keys, not your Coins" on: January 23, 2022, 03:38:53 PM
Nothing new. It will happen and we have to use them as well.
Nah, people should be very cautious and be knowledgeable time after time when such incidents happened. Crypto.com has lots of services to be used such as their card so using such platform cost a lot, I mean it needs to have some xxxx balance that you can say it's not that huge but it's enough amount.

This type of hacking will never stop unless some security features couldn't be broken by hackers. But we know it's quite impossible
Security codes/integrations/practices are designed against vulnerabilities and attacks, it just that the implementations of these are poorly implemented on their system and that's why this usually happens.
3586  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia's Central Bank proposes ban on Cryptocurrency trading and mining on: January 23, 2022, 02:18:27 AM
Well, this country act like this since the very beginning of crypto hype until they doesn't matter at all. Well, if they say good news then it's good though but when they say bad or something similar, they don't matter anymore. I mean people become used to it when something like this proposed, or a bill like.
Even china mining ban is not that big either.
3587  Other / Meta / Re: Price of bitcoin on bitcointalk on: January 22, 2022, 04:16:29 PM
It's not possible not until the new bitcointalk software forum is up
Are you working on the new forum software by any chance?  I ask this for two reasons:

1) I find it nearly impossible to believe that Theymos wouldn't be able to slap up a price ticker somewhere on the screen, even though the current forum's software probably came on a 8" floppy disc, and
2) If you are one of the worker bees contributing to whatever it is Theymos is doing with the new forum software, could you tell us if a price ticker is going to be a feature?
Unfortunately, no, I would be glad to contribute if I have the knowledge of the stacks they are using.

My answer is only a guess that it could be possible to add such feature compare to the current one which is too out of date more particularly the looks.
3588  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Another episode of "Not your keys, not your Coins" on: January 22, 2022, 03:42:50 PM
I find this part of the announcement the most worrying:

Quote
On Monday, at around 12:46 am UTC, Crypto.com’s risk monitoring systems detected “unauthorized activity on a small number of user accounts” where transactions were being authorized without the two-factor authentication (2FA) control being entered by the user, according to the official document.

The exchange proceeded by halting withdrawals and revoking all customer 2FA tokens, adding even more security-hardening measures that required everyone to relog in and reactivate their 2FA token before allowing only authorized action, as detailed in the statement.

I am not sure if this means that the hackers found a way around the 2FA system and emptied user accounts even if they had 2FA activated. That would then explain why they introduced an additional security layer. Or that only those accounts without 2FA were compromised. How did you understand it?
There's no specifics of this, there's also no statement on their end the specifics of how attackers pulled off the breach. I only guess that it could be a flaw something on their 2fa system on how they implemented it.

I see no github issue of related to 2fa regarding this too.
3589  Other / Meta / Re: Price of bitcoin on bitcointalk on: January 22, 2022, 12:01:11 PM
It is boring for me at times to use another site like exchanges to check the price of bitcoin, it will be easy if I use this forum to check the price of bitcoin.
Is it really hard to make a simple google "btc to usd" or your local currency? Google even have a ready made converter on the search page. That will not take 5 seconds actually.

Upon your request, you're not the first to request it and probably will not be the last. It's not possible not until the new bitcointalk software forum is up
3590  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 1st learn then Earn on: January 22, 2022, 11:11:27 AM
Can you pay a little more attention to your writing style and grammar in the future? It’s a little hard to understand what you want to say.
No need to be harsh, it's readable and somewhat understandable, just unproper way of using of comma.

This way you will build your reputation and rank on this forum much faster.
For somewhat ordinary and knowledgeable member no need to build it's reputation not unless op wants to be one for trading purposes or whatsoever.

For OP, just keep it up, just follow the process of building your rank, and it will pay in no time.
3591  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Another episode of "Not your keys, not your Coins" on: January 22, 2022, 10:16:23 AM
yet it doesn't mentions if the users that were affected are refunded/compensated.
They did a refund.
Good thing if it's the case, either way, it doesn't change the fact that even as secured and as big as this exchange is still can be breached.

Having an insurance for lost funds cannot be used as excuse in the future to let them say that "We're trusted and fully funded crypto exchange, so come use our service". Decentralized exchanges should improve and be normalize in crypto space.
3592  Other / Beginners & Help / Another episode of "Not your keys, not your Coins" on: January 22, 2022, 07:40:34 AM
This is all about the Crypto.com recent hacked[1], though the news mentioned of the steps of securities added to the exchange, yet it doesn't mentions if the users that were affected are refunded/compensated. This is why "not your keys not your coins" always matter[2].

This is another reminder to everyone whether you're a newbie or not, that using platforms such exchanges which the users doesn't have full control of their assets always have the risk of getting robbed, either the platform refunded it, worst if not.

3593  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Gas Fee is too High? on: January 22, 2022, 07:15:59 AM
For simple reasons because it's network is too congested from different kind of transactions e.g. spam tokens, ico tokens, smart contracts, nft, and too many more to mention.

It's always frustrating but you need to move on and use other alternative networks if available.
3594  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How To Send Message in Blockchain Transaction on: January 22, 2022, 07:10:24 AM
Cools stuff, maybe you can add if what eth explorer is compatible for this message stuff. Or maybe all of the existing eth explorer integrates it too?
3595  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: need help finding wallet on: January 22, 2022, 06:37:27 AM
Don't leave your crypto assets on any exchange platform too, maybe it's considerable in a short term but not in the long term.
The duration of the storage shouldn't be a deciding factor though. Only the purpose of it.
And don't forget the risk factor, if the user's trading capital fund is just a mere % of his assets then it could be reasonable whether its for long term or not. But if he stored almost his assets in an exchange for trading purpose, it's too risky and it's a no for me.

An example of why the merit implementation is useful, if merit isnt implemented, this guy will be a legendary member already with the help of Bounties section.
3597  Economy / Goods / Re: Gold from Africa on: January 17, 2022, 03:39:02 PM
So basically you're going to have clients near on your place or someone online?

I don't know if it's safe to ship gold from those countries (Africa) as the sender place where gold smuggling is common. So it will in danger the receiver too.
3598  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: A secure hardware wallet for Bitcoin ? on: January 15, 2022, 04:36:18 PM
Unbranded tablets on amazon seem to sell for £50, you could probably find some from a shop that price (just make sure they run android) and then you can airgap with electrum without buying something more specific/expensive.
I'll be more wary the security patch of these unbranded tablets if up to date.

I'll go buy trezor if the price is just little different.

Buying a $250 HW is insane, if the whole purpose is the same to a
those fully tested, secured and cheap one.
3599  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jack Dorsey: Block is ‘officially building an open bitcoin mining system’ on: January 14, 2022, 02:13:51 AM
.. im guessing he is going to offer a 'cloud mining' service...
I wonder how his words will encourage people to invest or something similar to it in regards with this cloud mining. And how it differs to typical scam cloud mining.

Agree with you, at least Donaire is a real champion who is not afraid of losing, unlike other fighters who are just making sure they will not lose and because of that they will just choose to fight a fighter that they are certain they can dominate. I know some but I won't mentioned the name as I don't want to hurt the fans feelings, lol.
I will call them the smart champions, preserving their reputations, belt titles and money. While real champions are those you mentioned.
