i would never call what we have in bitcoin a "cycle" specially because that way of thinking always ends badly for traders who try to follow some arbitrary cycle that never happens This is not what I'm talking about What you describe should be referred to as regular volatility. I wouldn't call it cycles, at least not in the sense I use the term in the OP. More specifically, I'm describing 4-year cycles which are caused by the effects of halvings (hype before plus supply squeezes soon thereafter). Obviously, that has little if anything to do with pumps and dumps that are indeed completely random and happen from time to time (or all the time) but there are not specific time frames or sizes to these periods of time. they can be 1 year or 4, the rise can be 4x or it can be 20x or 50 I'm not talking about the scale of the price rise (fall), but timeframes are certainly traceable

Every investment has a risk, we are betting on the success because we see some potential, in short we gamble for its future based on what we expect That's what we are told And mostly made to believe as well. Indeed, there are no perfect investments and some people are actually gambling instead of investing. On the other hand, when someone invests in something, we are judging their investment from our own point of view without taking into account all the information and options available to that investor. In this way, it may look risky to us but whether it was as risky an investment to the investor himself is in fact an open question. To him, it may actually be a sure deal

It's definitely not a 4 year cycle, but to me it is pretty obvious that we see the same pattern repeating itself. It's happened too many times for it to be a coincidence It is called volatility, short term or otherwise (read, get used to it) Indeed, this pattern is always repeating itself. But it is of no particular use or importance (unless you are a day trader and can actually ride it for a profit) as to most people it is just a random walk, i.e. the next cycle, be it rise or fall, cannot be predicted with any reliable degree of certainty. On the other hand, 4 year cycles determined by the halving schedule are quite predictable, and it is definitely not a coincidence due to the nature of the halvings
|
|
|
However, random cycles do exist in this market and the current bullish cycle could probably lead to another big BOOM in 2020(Halvening) Halving is not a random cycle As it occurs every four years and the exact date when the block reward is to be halved can be told with enough certainty (even though there can be small discrepancies). And it has impact on prices both before the actual event due to hype and most important after the event due to purely economic factors like supply of mined coins going down. These factors are set to kick in some time after the halving and they can't be possibly priced in. The halving itself occurs at a certain point in time, but its real effects are felt only after some time passes

Answering to all of you, mates There is a 4 year cycle with Bitcoin, whether you like it or not, whether you believe in it or not. It is there simply because we have the block reward halved each 4 years, and to deny this cycle is to be in denial yourself (no offense intended). So it is sort of a given we are still destined to continue the bear market to sub-$3000 levels. that'll probably ruin this idea of a "4 year cycle". i hesitate to say such a cycle exists yet since 2014-17 was the only time it happened. all i know is the long term bitcoin chart is bullish Nothing is set in stone in crypto, of course. With that said though, going to 3k levels now or in the nearest future will actually prove the 4 year dynamic as we had seen a strong rebound in June 2015 before we crashed to lower levels again in August. But I don't think it is important provided we start to rise before the next halving (the proposition which feels more plausible somehow) so you are basically saying the enormous rise prior to halving (~300%) was nothing! It wasn't nothing but it still pales in comparison with the rise we saw in 2017 (x20) FTFY. I challenge you to show me a 4-year cycle that occured more than once.
Given Bitcoin's history of measly 10 years (3 of which it had been virtually unknown to the wider public), your whole challenge doesn't make a lot of sense

It is common to see people claim that Bitcoin follows the pattern which was established in 2017. I understand why they want to think this way as it took less than a year to reach 20k by the year end starting with just 1k in January that year (at a certain point price had even momentarily crashed to 750)
But it is unlikely we are going to see that pattern right now. If anything, it feels more like we are back in 2015. In the first half of that year we were making lows (the last local low was in August at around 200) and only since the fall Bitcoin started to gain momentum in earnest. Then the halving came in July 2016 and the real run-away growth kicked off in a few months (in September 2016, to be exact) being somewhat postponed by the Bitfinex hack in early August
For that matter, things look more like we are following the 4 year cycle in which the Bitcoin reward halvings play an ever important role, and we are in the beginning phase of a new cycle. The implication is that we shouldn't be overly optimistic and expect too much of 2019 as it is more like 2015 rather than 2017 (and 2018 was our 2014). Indeed, things never repeat themselves but the overall outlook should be clear by now
So what are your thoughts?

I constantly here people say " Only invest what you can afford to lose" Well no matter where your wealth is it could crash.
-Invest in USD- USA could collapse and experience mass inflation making your dollars nearly worthless -Invest in Bonds- Government could collapse making your bonds worthless -Invest in real estate- Housing prices could crash, natural disaster could hit and insurance company could go bankrupt -Invest in metals- prices could crash, asteroid mining could collapse prices
Your money is never 100% safe no matter where it is invested.
Well, that's true indeed, but such is life (and then you die). The implication is that investing should not be gambling, but if it is (for you), then you are certainly in for a big trouble in the way you describe above. The point is your money should be safe most of the time if you know what you are doing, and in that particular case you can hedge aggressively against the inadvertent developments or circumstances should they come about or arise That's the whole thing about investing wisely

Bitcoin don’t need to eliminate other countries currency so theres no issue about that,in some other countries that adopted bitcoin they are using fiat in physical payments and bitcoin in online so what we need to have is cryptocurrency to be accepted as payment method in some areas of living But that's not the problem Still it’s not bitcoin is not matured as currency because most of the people using bitcoin as a store of value or long term holding . Most of them including me believing bitcoin price may reach huge by holding some more time because of its limited supply That is the problem And it is unlikely to get resolved in the future, if ever. People are not going to use Bitcoin as a payment method en masse simply because it is too good for this purpose. The bad money always drives out the good money from circulation (so-called Gresham's law). And in this case fiat is that bad money, while Bitcoin is the good money. In other words, people would always try to spend fiat first just because they value Bitcoin higher and prefer to keep their precious coins to themselves, while spending dollars (or whatever)

Even if Einstein's General Theory of Relativity got a lot of traction as well as application starting in 1960's (let's assume you are correct), he didn't live up to that anyway. In this manner, if Bitcoin succeeds big time in, say, 22nd century, we are unlikely to witness its triumph, so it is definitely not something we should be looking and still less waiting for. Thus, if Bitcoin is to make a second coming which would be better than the first, it should hurry up
It should, and it will. Things are happening increasingly faster these days. What took 50 years back then can take 15 years now. And considering that 10 years have already passed, it seems fair to say that we are close But people are tremendously impatient these days So if Bitcoin doesn't deliver any time soon, they will definitely start complaining. Wtf, Bitcoin's price had been stuck in a tight range between 3.5k and 4k for nearly two months (maybe even for a little longer than that), and folks already started wining that the market was boring. But that's not my point. If Bitcoin is going to rise and shine again, what should that be if not hype (the odds of which are small anyway)? Among other things, blockchain technology, and Bitcoin in particular, can be used effectively for fighting corruption in the government sector. But those who are in power are either too lazy or too stupid to grasp the idea, and there are also others who simply want to continue plundering their countries The powers that be will never agree

Being calm and not being in a rush in everything you’re doing is a good thing for anyone to do. You shouldn’t always be in a rush or you might lose. Whenever I want to invest money in any thing, I make sure that I have the money I will need for that investment (an amount I’m ready to risk) and when I invest I’m not always in a hurry to make money. There are other things I can do to keep myself busy In most cases it turns out to be an advantage And not just in trading (though in trading it is likely most noticeable because here it is always a question of either money lost or money earned) but in life generally. With that said though, there are also cases when you need to act fast, and unless your patience comes from an in-depth understanding of the market dynamics (which doesn't seem to be), it can easily cause you as much pain

Yes, we can't expect surpassing the previous ATH 16 times, as it happened in December 2017, but we can expect surpassing it 4 times, which means that Bitcoin can reach $75,000 in December 2019 Too good to be true If you ask me, it would be a miracle if we just came close to the December 2017 highs in the coming years (let alone months). If you don't ask me, I'd still say we are unlikely to see the amount of hype and steam we saw back in the day. It could be said that the novelty of crypto has worn out but as they say, there's no second chance to make a first impression (read, the days of the wild hype are over and probably for good) I think there is a chance for making another impression that can be better than the first one. For example, Einstein published the final form of his General Theory of Relativity in 1916, but it did not appear to be as useful at the time. And only in 1960s and later, when various astronomical phenomena that confirmed the theory were discovered, it became central to physics and astronomy. I'm sure other examples of such sequences of events can be found as well. It's just Bitcoin was a bit ahead of its time. But its time will come But there's a catch Even if Einstein's General Theory of Relativity got a lot of traction as well as application starting in 1960's (let's assume you are correct), he didn't live up to that anyway. In this manner, if Bitcoin succeeds big time in, say, 22nd century, we are unlikely to witness its triumph, so it is definitely not something we should be looking and still less waiting for. Thus, if Bitcoin is to make a second coming which would be better than the first, it should hurry up

At the same time, I also wish all these weak hands can please leave the market for us for now, but what I am happy about is that we still have smart investors more than the weak ones who would continue to Hold and keep their investment for long and for the future purpose I'm not sure if the whole idea makes any sense I refer to weak hands. Okay, let's assume there are weak hands in the market, even though the term itself requires a more specific definition (or just a definition, for that matter), and they get shaken out. And what's next? Do you want to say that there will be only strong hands? What about day traders who are constantly selling and buying? Are they strong or weak hands? Besides, no matter the definition, weak hands is a relative notion, and there will always be them just because there is a perpetual divide or distinction between strong hands and weak hands (read, there cannot be only strong hands)
