3581  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Review ETH Miners Reported vs Real Hashrate on: November 20, 2021, 03:36:33 PM
I did not understand how these experts conducted their tests. All tests must be carried out synchronously and on the same video cards.
Of course, you need to count the received shares, but in practice the difference is not big.
The problem can also be in the case of excessive overclocking and the mining farm is unstable.
3582  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Brand new coins for mining on: November 19, 2021, 05:16:21 PM
What does this have to do with mining?
A beginner does not understand that only a few people get such luck.
I also mined various promising coins and lost a lot of profit because I didn't mine Ethereum.
Currently, doge coin and cat coin are in the top forks, the price of which is growing rapidly.
3583  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I'm new and looking to teach my kid this on: November 19, 2021, 05:08:58 PM
After doing a bit more reading, will go with CPU miner,

That was a wise choice, it's the simplest. What is it your kid likes about mining? Mining itself is pretty boring,
it's only the dashboard that would have any appeal for a 10 year old.
If you want your child to become a top programmer, will you give him a Pentium 4?
Of course, you can write programs on a Pentium 4 computer, and many years ago at the university I did it.
But now is a different time, so the only way to interest a child is to give him a decent profit in the beginning.
3584  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Easiest Altcoin to Mine advice on: November 19, 2021, 05:01:50 PM
What about Helium HNT guys?
Are you also from this sect?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5370304.0
Helium news is constantly published in this section, but I think that this has nothing to do with classic mining.
You can try, and then share your feedback with us, maybe miners will start doing the same after the end of Ethereum mining.

I don't care what mining it is whether its classic or whatever.
Then you need to study this site and order mining equipment
https://www.helium.com/mine
I don’t want to buy hardware for mining one coin only.
Each miner chooses equipment based on his experience and capabilities. I'd rather buy a new video card and put it in a mining farm, because I understand how it works.

Just to confirm helium mining equipment doesn't use that much electricity correct? Video cards in a mining farm use a lot of electricity right?
Video cards are versatile, they can be used for mining and many other operations.
As long as the prices of cryptocurrencies are high, then video cards will be profitable.
I am not against mining Helium, but I see very big risks of making a profit when the time for a bear market comes.
3585  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What coins to mine with 2GB GPUs? on: November 19, 2021, 04:55:43 PM
This topic is already a year old, I think that the author of the topic has long changed or sold useless video cards.
https://minerstat.com/dag-size-calculator
Choose coins where the DAG file has not yet exceeded 2 GB, but mining will be useless even with free electricity.
You need at least 3 GB of memory
3586  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Question gpu with entrance pcie 1x on: November 19, 2021, 04:51:39 PM
I have a particular question i don't want to use a riser to add a new gpu to my pc but i want to directly hook up a gpu with 1x pcie input can you tell me some valid brand of gpu for mining?
Do you want to ask if there are video cards for mining with a PCI-E x1 slot?
I have never seen such, because video cards use a PCI-E x16 slot.
If you do not want to use raisers, then use motherboards with PCI-E x16 connectors.
All miners use raisers because they solve a lot of problems.
3587  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Understanding Big navi / RX66xx overclocking with PowerUPP on: November 19, 2021, 04:44:36 PM
I don’t understand what result you want to get from this utility. The main settings for downvolting this video card are Core Voltage (VDD) and Memory Controller Voltage (VDDCI). If you set the values too low, then the video card will stop mining, but will not turn into a brick.
I could not break the video card with the settings in the Hive OS.
To increase the hash rate, you need to change the memory strings, therefore this utility is useless.
3588  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What are options to mine a profitable crypto on my computer. on: November 18, 2021, 02:55:06 PM
Do you recommend mining this coin?
https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/massnet/
https://massnet.org/en/about
The Circulating Supply is very large. In the beginning, mining might have been a good idea.
I may be wrong, but there is no point in mining such coins now.
3589  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: First time/Small miner reference for getting started. on: November 18, 2021, 02:47:23 PM
Guys which crypto is now worth to mine rather than BC? What if you do mining on Solana blockchain?
Solana cannot be mined with hardware, because this coin has a POS algorithm.
The PIC algorithm has double risks of losing money. You must first buy a coin and then launch a masternode or delegate your coins to another masternode.
Double risk arises from staking and a possible decrease in the price of the purchased coin.
3590  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I'm new and looking to teach my kid this on: November 18, 2021, 02:40:12 PM

After doing a bit more reading, will go with CPU miner, Getting close to kidoz bedtime so will be putting this down for the night.

Thank you in advance to anyone who has any hints.

Gridseed Orb 5 Chip ASIC USB Miner
Product Key Features
Hash AlgorithmScrypt, SHA-256
Processing Speed (GH/s)700kH/s
https://www.ebay.de/p/1176846289
Did you buy it?
If you want your child to learn how to mine, then buy a better modern video card. No worse than RTX 3060
You can certainly buy an ASIC, but I think it will be uncomfortable in the apartment because of the noise.
The child will learn faster if he gets a real profit.
3591  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Brand new coins for mining on: November 18, 2021, 02:33:28 PM
I would like to propose to create in this post a list of coins to be mined. Possibly describing why and if you think it is currently profitable to mine, or if it has the potential to create good profits in the future. Thanks!
Users will now advise you a bunch of scam for mining.
Sharing useful information in mining, this means reducing your profit.
Look for new onets for mining in this thread

try to find a coin that will rise in price.
It is like a game with very little chance of winning.
3592  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: If you had $1M USD to setup mining op & sell first contract before 12/31? on: November 18, 2021, 02:28:34 PM
Why does no one tell a millionaire that it is too late to invest in mining?
Some of my acquaintances have already started selling video cards, while they are still very expensive, because they do not want to take risks.
The hashrate of the Ethereum network is growing very quickly.
In six months, he will buy equipment 100% cheaper.

Because it is not too late to invest 1 million into mining.

But I know that California power prices are stupid high.  Over 30 cents in most areas of the states .

If he could get 6 cent power I would give him a plan to work with gpus and asics.

I would set him up with a mix of nvidia a2000 cards and 8 slot mother boards.

Along with s17 pros from a refurbisher.

If his taxes are to be served better by spending the money this year he can.

But he needs to realize the industry cycles and we may go down over the next year.

This means if he has to spend 1 million this year as a tax move he needs to be able to spend 1 million again if gear falls off a cliff next year.  Ie buy low and DCA

In the summer of 2020 a L3+ with a psu was under 75 dollars on ebay

Right now a L3+ with a psu is over  1275 dollars

https://www.ebay.com/itm/203701179462?

Now buying high now is okay if

1) there is a tax advantage
2) if you have cheap power 6 cents or less
3) if you can buy a second time if price of gear drops next year.

good luck to op.
I have electricity in Russia 0.045 dollars, I have a place for mining farms. There are no mining taxes in Russia.
But I don't buy graphics cards because it's getting late.
I would buy ASICs at a cost of electricity of 2-3 cents.
The hashrate of ethereum is increasing very quickly, if I had a million, I would buy ethereum and bitcoin now and would not sell coins for 5 years.
3593  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My 3070ti gets hot on: November 17, 2021, 02:35:56 PM
There is nothing to worry about OP even 90°C on memory temp for 3080 and 3090 are extremely safe, I'm even jealous you are getting just 82°C on your 3070ti that's a silicon lottery winner there mate, by the way what algorithm you mining cos all 3070ti are all LHR
I'm mining Ethereum and getting 57MH using NBminer and the power consumption is 167w, I noticed my 3070ti gets hotter if I mine other algorithms most especially that ravencoin, that's where the mem temp spikes up to 90°C, it scares me as I want this GPU to last longer

What are your OC and miner settings for 57 mhs?
Try for hive OS
memory 2500-2600
Core 1570
Power limit 0
lhr_tune 72
GMiner v2.71 Ethash(LHR unlock) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5034735.0
With these settings, the hash rate is 58 megahash
For a mining farm, additional cooling is desirable, because the consumption of each video card is noticeable at 170-180 watts
3594  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PCIe extension cables on: November 17, 2021, 02:26:12 PM
They can extend the length but you need to be careful and not exceed wattage per connector and cable.  Also the longer the connection the less watts its safe to send down a cable.  Wire size vs wattage is a hard science.  Pulling too much is a good way to damage cables, gear, or invite 🔥.    I would suggest short extension vs long … 4 inch (10 CM) extensions are available.

But every connection is one more place prone to fail so fewer are better.
PCIe extension cables are mostly 15-20 centimeters long.
Of course, it is better to do without adapters and extension cords, because these are additional places for control and most burnouts occur in these places. I did not have any fires, but the contacts burned out, and I noticed this only after disassembling the mining farm in search of faults.

Yeah, funny thing also, ive noticed the 8 pin connector going into the PSU was all blackened and when i touched it, it just crumbled like a dry cookie, then ive remembered i had one 3060ti riser fed by a SATA cable a while ago. Still thanking to whoever was watching over it all, because ive probably avoided burning down the whole farm and even more than that..
Probably for the best we started talking wattage and gauge, newbies who come across this might find something useful, for example, NEVER USE SATA to power GPUS or even risers, cause its not able to carry through the needed amount of watt and if overclock kicks in a reset and your GPU will demand more because its not being undervolted anymore, outcome would be really sad.
I use SATA raisers for video cards like 5600 хт, 1060, 470 and the like. But I do this only on high-quality power supplies and connect the plug directly to the raiser.
You are right that you do not need to use a SATA raiser for video cards such as RTX 3080.
For powerful video cards, as a rule, server power supplies with the required number of connectors are used.
3595  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: TonMiner v.1.0.2-beta on: November 17, 2021, 01:51:38 PM
And what can you mine a Ton on video cards?
Can you elaborate on this in more detail?
I have not found any information on mining Ton.
TON cannot be mined on video cards, because it has a POS algorithm.
I heard about the frk of this coin, which can be mined on video cards.
https://ton.org/how-it-works/mining
Other well-known coins are now more profitable, so the popularity of mining for TON forks is now low.

Hi friends

I'm installing a new rig, I have an old system to use to get rid of, P5P43TD motherboard, 8GB DDR3 Ram and intel Xeon L5410 cpu ,12M Cash
I want to evaluate these pieces using mining.

I would like to ask you, can I build a rig with these old parts together with the 2x RTX 3060 Ti 8GB? Are there problems such as not recognizing cards or not seeing them? or other problems?

thank you for your answers

motherboard

https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5P43TD/
I used even older junk in mining. The old motherboard did not work for me for long and I changed it. I had to buy another motherboard, processor and memory.
If you want to mine for several years, then you better buy a new motherboard with a processor.
If your mining farm is in your home, then you can use old motherboards.

I am close to pull the trigger on a Threadripper 3960X. But i dont find the hashrate for it.
Can anybody help? Have got a mainboard and 4 x 16GB kit 3600 CL16 here. CL14 too if needed.
There is a link to the hashrate table
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1251104.msg58451380#msg58451380
it may have a hash rate even higher than the Threadripper 3960X processor, but this is a very expensive model.
