3581  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Looking for better USB drive wallet solution other than Electrum on: July 22, 2012, 06:45:35 PM
Armory requires bitcoin-qt or bitcoind to run, I would use http://multibit.org/ since it is written in java, doesn't need the whole blockchain and has a wealth of functionality.

BUT no encryption for wallet!

I have my USB drive encrypted so that is not a complete letdown.

Not a bad idea for the future though!

get portable truecrypt and encrypted the whole USB partition

yea that is good, bandwidth isn't a big deal since it would be a small amount. Yea that looks fine to me and for OS I would say Ubuntu or debain should be good to go, I mean poolserverj is written in java so any OS will work that can run java.
3585  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Private Pool - Complete Newbie on: July 21, 2012, 06:27:26 PM
backend http://poolserverj.org/ and bitcoind
frontend if you want a portal, look at https://github.com/simplecoin/simplecoin
I would do 2 for secure, so it would be poolserverj on a VPS with bitcoind and simplecoin on it is own.

Thanks for your quick reply!

What sort of server specification do I need? I presume the front end VPS doesn't need much, maybe a 512MB RAM and 5GB or something?

I expect I need a better VPS for backend? If you could give me a sample configuration for say 50GHz

I would say 512mb 5gb for frontend is good, and only if you really need it

backend yea I would get a 2gb at least maybe 4gb just to be safe and you need a good amount of space since the blockchain is at ~2.7gb so i would get like a 30gb VPS and you should be good

3589  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Camming Site on: July 21, 2012, 05:49:15 PM
Heya, thanks for the suggestion (and notification of the show!). There already is a Twitter account ( https://twitter.com/Cam4BTC ) but I can only Tweet manually atm. It would indeed be a cool feature.

Gweedo also sent me the script for creating a HTML page representation of the current schedule. I'll get that running asap but I have been really really busy since I got back midweek  (sorry Gweedo but thanks on the script again! Tongue).

How has everyone been?

yo anytime, i got ya

Can't you make it tweet when a show starts as like a trigger? and only if the cam is on so doesn't become spam

3591  Economy / Services / Re: ShowRSS (Bittorrent TV RSS feeds) now accepting Bitcoin donations on: July 20, 2012, 09:12:09 PM
Good point.

Anyways, I followed through with a site donation, and the guy's interested in the cashing out process (and Satoshi Dice), so I think we have a convert here Smiley

As have I, and yea sounds like the coins will help him invest and profit off of them so the site becomes even better, I think he may try and go from an online wallet to a full on bitcoin-qt client so that is a good sign.
3592  Other / Meta / Re: Charting traffic and new thread creation by forum subcategory on: July 20, 2012, 09:10:33 PM
that is cool stuff and def open source the bot, put it on github
3593  Other / Meta / Re: Charting traffic and new thread creation by forum subcategory on: July 20, 2012, 08:03:39 PM
Yeah, I looked and it seems that they are highly correlated, but the forum activity definitely lags the price changes. Still, it shows that the price is going to be mostly affected by hype and the number of people involved.

but is the lag cause mtgox host the forums, so when they get hit with alot of traffic the forums slow up as well it hard to tell

3596  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for someone to write a file copy script on: July 20, 2012, 12:49:04 AM
I agree some automator love be nice then use terminal todo the md5 stuff, pretty easy

If memory serves me correctly, there should be an MD5 checksum automator action built into automator.  This would save time of having to use terminal to verify the file checksums.  If it's not already there I know for sure you can download it online and add it to your automator.

I think that is a library, cause my automator library is stock and i see no md5 but even better

It is true I got emails and pms so if no one believes me I will release those
3599  Economy / Services / Re: Anyone want VPN for BTC? on: July 19, 2012, 09:02:34 AM
He actually scam me, I was to make a site for him and we agreed on the price of 5btcs then after viewing the site, he wanted more "security" an only paid half, then after conforming to that demand he never seen the rest and dropped all contact so watch out.
3600  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 2 btc loan on: July 19, 2012, 06:56:50 AM
I love dudes that try to act all rich and stuff. I was about to PM especially with that proof but you should never insult money. Remember you came here and with scams happening all the time you should know that people want proof that you will not run. I hate people that try and turn it around on the people they run to for a loan like our bitcoin aren't worth the same as yours. I hope no one ever loans to you again.
