Thanks for the pics Phi

Broke down and going to run 6 Hybrids - what's your thoughts on running 1070 Ti's in place of 1080 Ti's?
362  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: December 06, 2017, 09:31:44 PM
Wow... and I JUST swapped to nicehash last week just to sell hash for BTC... there's goes about .1btc down the drain. WTF was I thinking using them anyways.  Angry

Why's your machine updating anyways? I turned off updates and all protections, antivirus, etc. not needed.

Temp readout is only displaying 1 GPU fan temp, on mouse hover over it does display them all. Did I do something wrong?

Cheesy Im in Winnipeg and the outside temp is -15C tonight; My room's window is wide open and the room temp is 22.3C to give you an idea of the heat being dissipated in here. Cheesy

Good luck on the expansion and Im sure since youre a financial planner you'l do just fine.
All the best!

Wow from 5ºF outside to 72ºF inside... you must be running a nice bit of gear, holy mama!

I don't think I'll be so lucky, my buddy told me that the building is all concrete and only a front side roll-up door, so ventilation is going to be a tiny bit... tricky. Going to snap up picks when I visit the location tomorrow. I might just have to take it though, honestly I'm shocked a building is able to be locked down this quickly, anyone in LA knows how time consuming securing a lease is. I used to be a commercial agent many many years ago. it's never stopped being so fast paced.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, I still have some decisions to make. Part of me wants to just sit on my coins since time and time again holding onto coins has MASSIVELY outperformed buying mining equipment. Mining has never been a loss, but nowhere as lucrative a return as just holding onto those dear old coins and investing in more.

We'll see how it unfolds.
366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: December 06, 2017, 05:31:07 AM
I just sold some btc at 12,100 .

Have to check on other coins  on bittrex.  May sell more.

Phil, curious are you selling coins off to take a profit or invest in more equipment?

That's sort of my dilemma now, I know buying and holding would yield more profit in the long run that mining. But I'm compelled to buy more mining equipment. It's sort of counter intuitive of course it's all speculative but still.

Little update on the D1800 BTC progress, i got it finally to recognize and allocate resources to all 6 x 1080ti's finally, but i think i hit a roadblock on my PSU, i have a 450watt EVGA PSU i picked up cheap around black friday for $9.95 shipped after rebate and apparently it doesnt have enough juice to run more than 4 GPU's, as soon as i start mining with all 6 the PSU shuts off, i tried 5 same thing happened, i even tried running 6 @ 50% tdp as soon as i start mining the computer shuts off instantly as soon as it loads up, but as soon as i disable 2, i can mine with 4 even at 110% tdp without any power issues.... since the real load at that point is on the server PSU

The PSU im using, i am using 2 connectors from each string on the mobo, im guessing im overloading the peripheral power bar possibly...

even at 50% TDP that's almost 800w just for the GPUs my friend.

Well my realtor buddy just called me up, he actually found a spot for me and I get to inspect it tomorrow and pick up the keys as well if I like the terms.

Main thing I need to inspect is the Electric Panel ... and where I can put some massive vent holes lol

Still undecided as far as how much expansion I'm going to be doing, but at least this is a step forward.
369  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining Farm Startup on: December 06, 2017, 02:34:13 AM
Lol anyone with extra funds is putting it towards thier farm lol

DAMN STRAIGHT!

I was stationed on USS Ranger out of North Island for a while - there were parts of the WestPac I made I definitely would have liked to repeat (like the stopover in Thailand) and other parts I would like to have missed.

Chula Vista- varied when I was living there, some parts were decent some were starting to get iffy.
Nowhere near as bad as Barrio Logan though.

Climate in Central Washington isn't a ton different, except we actually have winters here (usually mild though).

I wish I had the money for 50 x 1080 ti cards AND the rigs to put them in. Might get into that ballpark in another year, if profitability stays good, but I suspect it's going to take a good bit longer.

haha. Thailand is fun, only been once, wasn't really my scene but partied it up. When I got out I got picked up as a security contractor in the middle east. We would take so many trips to everywhere, blow obscene amounts of money because 1 - young and dumb 2 - honestly didn't really know if we'd live till the next vacation and 3 - what else is a 22 year old going to do making 6 figures? Spend it all like an idiot, that's what!
371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Mining OS] SimpleMining.net - Easy to use GPU MINING Operating System on: December 05, 2017, 11:07:57 PM
Is there a way to have your Total speed always showing?
372  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Mining OS] SimpleMining.net - Easy to use GPU MINING Operating System on: December 05, 2017, 08:21:16 AM
wifi and notifications would get me using smos Smiley

yes i know wifi isn't optimal but i have a rig here and there at different locations where they can't run a lan cable to the rig. just sayin' Wink
373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: December 05, 2017, 08:10:13 AM
@Citronick, how did you do the redundant internet cabling? Because I've rented another shoplot beside mine for another $250 usd/month and can do redundancy now. Another 3 phase, 60A, 240V to play with.

For the expansion I'll use these 8 gpu riserless solutions: https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/mining-machine-ETH-machine-4u-8xgpu_60708486305.html

It's rather inexpensive compared to the nightmare called riser troubleshooting lol.

I'm going full 1070ti for expansion and selling my vegas, they just take too much effort to deal with. Probably I'll start moving in rigs by Jan. Mine for a couple of months and add volta.

I've also seen some huge warehouses in Kuching. 45000sqft, supports 1000 KW of power, but will cost $60K USD to setup the place, rental deposit ,wiring and ventilation, and cost $5K usd a month rent. Roughly 5.3 cents/kwh. Pretty good value, but I don't have capital for this scale.

WTF?!?! $250?!?! That's it!?! Color me green... with jealousy! and $0.11/sq.ft? Maybe I need to leave this country sooner than I planned lol.

Good stuff man.
374  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: December 05, 2017, 08:07:09 AM

messy at the moment
on the middle rack eight cards

3 fans to the right side

3 fans to the left side

two in the center low mounted

messy it is  I am waiting for a rack from spotswood

2400 watt delta psu

and a box fan on low speed

Awesome thanks for the pics Phil! I actually had no idea the hybrid fans were that big - the retail pics make them look so tiny! Good to know, I might pick up a few, that 2 limit will make me to multi orders though lol.
375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: December 05, 2017, 08:05:12 AM

That's my personal office aka "man-cave"  Grin - my wife "evicted" me and my toys 2 years ago... a blessing in disguise I must say, allowing me to hook up with a few more friends to go "big" in the mining operations. Thanks to Phil and many others, we grew the farm bigger each year. The GPU farms are near my house and the "golden goose" Asics farms are hosted in Cryptoboreas in Labrador, Canada.

... just one stairs up from my office is the 2nd GPU farm, 26 x open cage metal frames, 17 x 20" floor fans and (3+2=5) x heavy duty industrial fans blowing out through the windows on the mezzanine floor. After consulting my buddies in data centres, i manage to use those heavy duty industrial fans to re-direct heat upwards and out the windows naturally. Overall temps at 35-36c during the day, and 33-34c during the night. During extra-ordinary hot days, 37-38c, I need to turn on that orange tube air extractor to help reduce temps another 1-2c. I am near the Equator so there is no winter season here.

The warehouse, above the office and my work area, hosts about 30 rigs and the next door warehouse which I also lease, similar size, around 36 rigs. Both warehouses are powered with 63A/3phase via a bulk power provider and two broadband fibre internet provider (both warehouse share each other's internet connection for redundancy).

After the consolidation exercise with riserless mobos with 6 & 8 slots and junking out the risers = total both farms should be at about 50 rigs thereabouts... saving me a bit more on the power bill due to Cryptonite mining and also less rigs to pay to smOS service. About a dozen rigs are on H1110 and Biostar 12, 13 slots mobo. All AMDs RX480,480 are ex-ETH workers - now all mining Cryptonite. All NVIDIAs GPUs does the Equihash work. Only 30% of the farm are NVIDIAs.

These farms slave out Cryptonite and Equihash hash at Nicehash marketplace paying combined about USD$600 daily. The RX cards have served me well during the good ole ETH days - glad that they are still useful for Cryptonite mining.

Now that's a man cave anyone would be proud to call their own! Well, you've helped me decide, I called my realtor and scouting a new location just for myself, no partners on this on. Not yet anyways. You made me want my own man cave!

What OS are you using to farm cryptonite with? I don't have any AMD's was just curious. I was thinking of migrating to smos but even when we had the warehouse farm up, I just monitored from the pool.
376  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: December 05, 2017, 02:13:21 AM
As far as it crashing I assume that means the miner window.  Does it close out, lock up, or produce an actual error message?  I appreciate the advise.  Very helpful.

Seen a few people with 110% TDP, heavy overclocks, pushing 750+ sol/s.  Impressive but total power hogs and their fans were at 100% constantly.   Grin

I have no equipment to measure power consumption in order to calculate sol/w.  Not sure if there is some other way to do it yet.

It is tempting to try and find another gigabyte 1080ti like this one I have and install it but man the costs are still way up there.  This whole crytpo mining thing is fun!

Just buy a kill a watt meter or similar,  a must have for any tweakers.
377  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: December 05, 2017, 01:31:31 AM
Thanks.

How do you gentlemen verify stability when testing changes in afterburner?  Invalid shares?  Lock ups or crashes of the miner/system?

For us it was push it till it crashed. Back it down till it didn't crash, then once it was stable for 24 hours, leave it alone and set the rest around those settings, if problems came about, keep looping till there's no crashing.

Our warehouse we were running ours at 80%, here at home I'm running everything at 55-60% for 4 Sol/W
378  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: December 05, 2017, 01:22:17 AM
It will be in the farm in a few hours - the farm will be the real test if this guy survives.

The farm runs 34-35c on normal days and can get higher during hotter days.

The miner in question is the black box behind the 8 x R7-370 on a "k17" China mobo.

Very cool - definitely interested to find out as well!

Office space or warehouse? Also curious how are you ventilating the space?

my generic k17  seems good   does 7  1070ti's and 1 1070   all  evga hybrid  water cooled smos about 1000 watts  using a delta 2400 watt server

Nice settings Phil!

How do you have the rig set up? Curious how you have the hybrid fans mounted!

I miss San Diego climate (lived there for almost 12 years, part of that in the Navy but most of it after I got out) and watching lots of pretty gals in bikinis on the beaches almost year-round.

I do NOT miss the cost of living there.

hahaha one of my closest friends was stationed in Coronado lucky bastards ship was under repair for like 3 years so didn't do any sea duty till his last year! It was a blast every time I was on leave I would head down there and party with him. Good times! Crazy guy got out and stayed in the area, but in Chula Vista I think, very very ... rural. Looked like Fontana meth ville to me
