361  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Th 51% issue. on: May 18, 2013, 01:21:31 AM
Wow the tinfoil in this thread is OP. Do you really think they would spend that kind of money to try and double spend fucking 3 btc? A 51% hack isnt the end of btc, its a minor inconvenience.

Hmm, why would they be limited to a 3 btc?  why not do a 3000 btc double spend?
362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Th 51% issue. on: May 18, 2013, 01:02:48 AM
Is there anyway to keep bitcoin working correctly inspite of a 51+% malicious miner?
Is there anyway to prevent a well financed individual from getting 51+%?( i don't think so).

I think the more the network grows, the harder it will become for an individual or small group to acquire that much power.
(I could be wrong, its just a guess)

Are these future dividends going to be consistantly bigger than what we've seen?  Is this price raise due to a fast rising hash rate or just from massive auctioning of the blades?
364  Economy / Speculation / Re: $1,000,000 for a Bitcoin? on: May 17, 2013, 05:43:38 PM
Will it ever happen?  Shocked

No, simply because there will be billions of "Bitcoin bubbles" before then. The crash after $250 will happen again and again, just at different values...at least until Bitcoin gains enough popularity to help stabilize the currency a bit. I'd be impressed if I see $1,000 a coin in my lifetime.

thats a market cap of 22,000,000,000,000 21,000,000,000,000... that's exactly how much obama has spent during his term.

Interesting! That's nearly 30% of the global M3 money supply!

(sarcastic way of saying "think before you speak")

uhh so i was 1 trillion off?  shit, i should watch my mouth!

thats a market cap of 22,000,000,000,000... that's exactly how much obama has spent during his term.  Who knows, maybe your next president will do the same but he will spend it all on bitcoin.   Cheesy

(sarcastic way of saying no)

368  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - Discussion Thread on: May 17, 2013, 01:57:41 AM
made a false assumption that 0.88 would automatically uninstall previous version.  Two versions were on my computer so removed them both and reinstalled 0.88.

its doing its several hour update right now, but I doubt I have enough RAM anymore (you mentioned somewhere that 6mb is minimum).

quick question... what advantage does armory have over Electrum?  I'm considering switching..
369  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - Discussion Thread on: May 17, 2013, 01:28:01 AM
was running .87 (i think?)  and started getting a runtime error.  Just updated to .88 and now armory won't open at all!! (I click on it and nothing happens.  Nothing.)

Someone wants to bring the price down because they are jealous of current shareholders.

So here's what we do... hold...fucking... TIGHT!  No matter what, don't sell.  This will leave those assholes in the dust.  Smiley

Lets use our bitcoin to revolutionize media.

https://mymindshare.com

My Mindshare 10-point Declaration

1. My mindshare is mine.

2. My mindshare has real monetary value.

3. I have a right sell, trade, or keep my mindshare as I choose.

4. Nobody is entitled to take my mindshare without my permission.

5. Unsolicited and intrusive advertising amounts to mindshare theft.

6. Mindshare theft is wrong.

7. I have a right to resist mindshare theft.

8. I demand media that does not deal in stolen mindshare.

9. I support media that respects my mindshare.

10. The world is better when individuals control their mindshare and their media.

Here's a video about the development of MyMindshare:

The video almost put me to sleep.  He could have shortened his speech to about half a minute.

378  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin needs to be simplified for the stupid. on: May 09, 2013, 10:22:54 PM
Its not complicated, the masses just need to know how to send and receive money and thats is quite easy, who knows the algorith ussed at visa or mastercard datacenters? nobody..
when someone ask again what is bitcoin just respond.. "is a new currency, and its value is this" thats all.

I think it would grab peoples attention if you call it the "global currency".  Or is that too far fetched  Cool
379  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin needs to be simplified for the stupid. on: May 09, 2013, 07:50:45 AM
Why not just represent the private key with a PIN so that its as easy as a debit card?

380  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Satoshidice house edge on: May 09, 2013, 12:55:05 AM
they must be pretty desperate for that extra 0.089%!!!  Shocked

Well, the house edge is 1.9% so it's an extra 0.189%...

one could separate the sum of money he would like to launder into dozens of even amounts (mix them beforehand for added security?) then submit them systematically on a low chance winning bet since statistically you would win every X amount of bets, then when the question arises where that individual has received the funds he could confidently claim that he had won all of them while not mentioning all (or most) of the losing bets and mentioning all the winning bets of course.

Seems like a lot of steps to go to but I guess that could work.

They may have published the hashes but they haven't published the secrets which look like this: P2BhTxFmqnRtmjAFM3nWGdOAuHNvDv9YBazK7jpiXIhdMtCyLapmiJwLL6QV1cCF meaning they have quite a lot of combinations to run through to get the most beneficial result for the house.

Still, that's only a 10% increase in profit, for the risk of having their scam exposed to the world?  It's not worth it, is it?
It does seem like a lot though.. in my experience, after many many online poker hands, actual statistics always reflect the odds with much more accuracy when you get up to 10,000 hands.  And how many satoshi bets have there been?  damn.. come to think about it, 0.189% is quite a bit..

Still, when you add time into the equation you can then establish that it isn't really mathematically proven/honest (what I have come to realize)(citation needed)

If your talking about a roulette wheel, it won't be perfect (maybe .0001% off after infinite spins), but that would be to do with a slight flaw with the wheel.  If you're talking about computer calculations, they should be perfect (definitely not .189% off!).
